To the authors of my life:

Let’s start by saying I’d like a little less strife

Second, let’s throw in some more car chases

And while you're at it, get rid of these gosh darn braces

.

I wouldn’t mind a girlfriend

I’d also like a happy end

A fairy godmother would be nice

With singing birds and mice

But my life could do with more simplicity

Maybe some magic, if even an itty bitty

.

Pick a plotline, I tell you!

What’s this with losing my shoe?

Nobody cares! Give me a quest!

Don’t worry, I’ll do my best

I’ll make you proud, I swear

I’ll take any adventure, I don’t care

Just please, make it fun

Tell me exactly what needs to be done

.

That is not all I have for y'all

But the list is quite tall

So for now, let’s just try that

PS...Please don’t kill my cat

Hey there! This is a pretty cool poem, and rather funny too! I enjoyed getting to read it.

To the authors of my life:

Let’s start by saying I’d like a little less strife

Second, let’s throw in some more car chases

And while you're at it, get rid of these gosh darn braces

This stanza is a pretty good start. One thing that looks a little strange is the first and second line are entirely different lengths. It might be worth changing the words a bit to fix the rhythm.

I wouldn’t mind a girlfriend

I’d also like a happy end

A fairy godmother would be nice

With singing birds and mice

But my life could do with more simplicity

Maybe some magic, if even an itty bitty

I like how it asks for some fantasy elements here. "Simplicity" and "itty bitty" aren't really a rhyme (it's more of a half-rhyme), but I also get that might be a bit hard to change.

Pick a plotline I tell you!

What’s this with losing my shoe?

Nobody cares, give me a quest!

Don’t worry, I’ll do my best

I’ll make you proud, I swear

I’ll take any adventure, I don’t care

Just please, make it fun

Tell me exactly what needs to be done

There should be a comma in the first line of this stanza: Pick a plotline, I tell you! This stanza is a little less exciting than the others, which isn't a huge problem, but it'd be nice if you added a little humor to this part-- I can see from the rest of this poem that you have plenty of humor!

That’s not all-

But the list for y’all is quite tall

So for now, let’s just try that

PS

Please don’t kill my cat

The rhythm with the first two lines is also irregular here, so adding a few more words to the first line might make it look better. I also like your ending! Having "PS" as its own line also seems a bit strange, so I would suggest changing this part to So for now, let’s just try that!/P.S. Please don’t kill my cat.

Thank you for the poem, and keep up the good work!

Thanks so much for the review!

Your poetry is so relatable. I am astonished that these are my exact feelings. I think the authors of my life are sleeping or are a bad writer to come up with a good plotline. Like the last plot was me not drinking my milk and my mom scolding me. Right. Cmon like send me on some quests or at least give me a sword. Or a pet... I don't even have a cat😥 Save me from this boring book! I wouldn't mind a fairy godmother.
I think your poem is amazing. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for the review! I'm glad you liked the poem.

I wrote this forever ago, I found it today and thought, hey why not put it out.

I'm terrible at poetry but I hope you enjoy this.

This is so much fun! I love it! :D

I've actually thought about this a lot, so it was funny to see I'm not alone. My author definitely needs to spice up my story and add some more excitement. No one wants to read about this hero's homework-induced stress. Needs more magic and romance and world-saving lol

Yes! Get rid of this monotony!
I wrote this a couple of months ago when I was really bogged down in boring and pointless feeling tasks!
But since then I have tried to be a bit more of my own author. And honestly, it's working great!
Though, sometimes the authors do railroad the plot a bit and make it hard for you to make your own adventures.
