The oak tree leaves had finally turned to their crunky, brown color and signled to people to enjoy the cool wheather before it turned to the harsh cold. Back then...that was the pattern.
It wasn't that long ago, when people were scared of winter because of the death it brought but since the 1990's, that once bad omen of winter had now became a welcome friend. Though, whenever a new friends comes along another is bound to get jealous.
This was what happened, when more people began to love the months of Octomber, November, and December: They began to see less deaths in these cold months, which people were glad out and spend more time outside.
However, when summer months drew on, town folks had expected people to stop going outside but that was not the case. June and July had stayed the famous summer months, while August was back to school month but when September came no one bothered going outside as they waited in anticipation of autumn. This pattern continued year after year, that by 2000's, it sort of became a tradition.
By 2000's, there was no more deaths with the months of October, November and December but when Septemver came, illness would strike young and old, that soon there was more deaths in September than any other month. Familes were scared that they didn't step outside for a whole month, in fear that something bad would happen if they did. Kids skipped school and parents got fired for lack of work in a month but their superstition of the month only grew with each year.
Schools had changed schedules that it now started in Octomber and the two month vaction was now in August and September. Familes would live in poverty because no one would hire someone who didn't work for a whole month and parents worked part time as waiters or cashier for most of the year, barely passing by. Sadly most families simply gave up.
Familes were straving and had no money because of their fear of September and instead of changing, they stayed to their new tradition and still worshiped the months where they could play and smile before the deaths in September came around.

So this was interesting but odd. I really don't see the point of the story. Nothing really happens and I don't really understand why you mention all of this like you are setting up a larger picture but then leave it be. the whole thing really doesn't make sense. But you're writing itself was done wonderfully. I really enjoyed the second paragraph I thought it was awesome.
Um your paragraphing was an A plus job but they're grammar mistakes.

Crunky is I think supposed to be crunchy. Maybe not though. Wheather to weather. Signled to signaled, right?

Just uh September is spelled wrong. I just recommend revising once or even twice before publishing.
