A great depression I feel

I pray to God that I will heal

Every day is a challenge to me

I wish my soul would be set free

I walk along the hall alone

Wishing to make my self known

A great depression I feel

I pray to God I will heal

Hello BrokenHeartsAri here for a review

Umm...

Okay So I know I'm a little late on this. I'm truly sorry for that.

"I pray to God that I will Heal"

I can completely relate to that. However, suddenly it gets to the time where you don't accept he will heal or answer your calls out for help. I understand how it appears. That's all I address in my writings.

For instance,

"I walk along the hall alone

Wishing to make myself known"

Yes, I cherish how you declare how it feels because it's all correct.

but everyone's Darkness is a little different.

Every day is gloomy and unpredictable.

Some people don't actually notice that, so when I read this poem I was so pleased because I was like Eventually someone who doesn't have to be a victim to notice what's happing to the world.

But I just want to end this off and say keep up the fabulous work I admired this creation also I wish to see more of your work.

A rose is a heart of a poet -
Ari

Thank you so much. All of these reviews mean so much to me.

I absolutely loved this. I feel like the simplicity was perfectly fitting for the sense of losing yourself into depression. I feel like it greatly encompasses the feeling of there not really being a specific direct cause but still not being able to escape it.
I also loved the repeating. I feel like it almost symbolizes the feeling of being stuck in a loop and brings it to a full circle.

Thank you so much

'Ello there!

First Impressions:

When I first hear the phrase "great depression" in any way, I tend to think about the historical factor over the actual mental health meaning. That's probably just because I'm a history nerd all the time, but when I first saw this, my brain totally ran through all of the ideas for how this would reflect accuracy to that haha.

The title isn't bad though because it states the exact idea you're showing throughout in all honestly. It doesn't move around the topic of depression like most people do to avoid becoming this poster child of mental illness (when it's never like that in most realities; speaking up is so much better than keeping quiet.)

The rhyming caught me off-guard at first because personally, rhyming is never something that I think about when entering a poetic mind state. I do agree with the other reviewer that it's a nice idea, as I always believe rhyming has this sweet atmosphere to it that pairs nicely with the deeper topic of depression and complex mental health.

Digging Deeper:

I see references to religion, which is new to me because I typically don't see those together. The idea that praying will cure an issue that is commonly considered too serious to be irradiated like that is something I disagree with personally, but building this aura of faith gives the poem another face or perspective.

I also see "soul set free," which reminds me of behavior that warns someone is considering harming themselves or other people. I think depression as a whole has many layers to it, and things like that are sadly not spoken about often (or really spoke about in a tone that isn't portraying it as satire, or just using a lot of inaccuracy.)

Nitpicks:

I think the repetivity of the lines is a bit too much here. The God line and the great depression line being repeated just make this short poem seem tinier than it actually is, which is arguably a not great thing to some people. The topic at hand fits short poetry, but it depends on the writer and reader's styles.

I could say the same about the rhyming. It doesn't necessarily change the length, but it changes the tone of the poem. I personally believe most rhyming belongs in satire poetry, so that's mainly what I think about when I see a rhyme scheme in a poem (even if it's a slight rhyme / loosely similar sounding rhyme.)

Speaking of loose rhymes, the word choices here don't exactly help the scheme you have so far. Words like "feel" and 'heal" start to sound forced if you use them too much, and that can create the same effect I mentioned above.

Conclusion:

I think something like this is true to you, and that could be said about many other people. I personally have serious mental health issues, and I see the similar feelings reflected in some of the areas here.

Good job ~

Hello!!! Here for a review!!

Oh this depression!! It's taking over the world. We all want to be free of depression and we want to live like ourselves!!! But... I just don't know if that would be ever possible! It's just becoming an everyday evil partner of us!

You did a great job in portraying all of these in your poem. I really liked the rhyme of your poem. It went so well. Everyday is dark and uncertain. I totally agree with u.

Overall, a very good job! Keep it up.

~Forever

Thank you so much. I appreciate your comment very much.

Hello! I hate to join in here, but depression is something that might never go away. It actually causes more harm to people if you say they will "be out of depression" due to that forcing a mentality of "mental health issues are inherently bad things" onto them.

Just a notice in case other people feel similarly because some people might not take the kind explanation route ~

I agree! But being a victim of depression, I really want to help people to come out of depression. I am sorry if it hurt you. I deletes that portion...

Hi! An Eldritch Tome here to give you a short review.
To begin, I liked how you did your rhyming. It was consistent and all flowed nicely. Second, I think that you captured a good deal of feelings in such a short piece. It was very descriptive without being descriptive.
I liked the way you said "great".
"A *great* depression I feel.*
(When I first saw this I thought it was about economics XD)
Anyway, I don't have much to say. I think you did well on it, and I look forward to any more works in the future.
:D
