Checkmate

I sold my honesty for lies,
And gave away modesty for pride.
Cruelty comes with a price,
But it's just fine 'cause murder's not a crime.

Love is for the weak,
Faith is for the blind,
Hope is what I do not seek,
And humanity's lost in the bloodthirst.

Every wrong is my right.
Death shall never cross my path.
My day is the darkest night,
Where all that's worth is money.

The price was yet to pay,
I thought I decided my own fate.
I was the King of it all,
Until Karma said, "Checkmate."

Hey Gigi,
This a beautiful poem. Its so well written. I loved it a lot.
Its so simple but has such a deep meaning behind it.
Its short and simple. I loved the last stanza :
"The price was yet to pay,
I thought I decided my own fate.
I was the King of it all,
Until Karma said, "Checkmate."
Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the review! :)

Wooow Gigi :)
Such a powerful poem full of meanings!
I love the last line, the punch it gives to the poem is awesome.
Very professional. The words are just apt and the reader is all set to get the emotions right.
After reading this, you get into a completely dark mood, I hope you understood what I meant.

Well written!

Thanks for the reply! :)

You are welcome :)

How can I be king of the world? Because I am king of rubbish. And rubbish is what the world is made of.
