Paper in the Wind

PreviousNext

we're all just pieces of paper,

blowing in the wind.

as weightless as paper,

lifting takes almost no effort.

take it in your hand-

it takes no focus, no concentration.

it's not difficult.

you could just as easily crumble that paper,

and throw it out with the trash.

but what if you have a stack of papers?

when you try to lift it,

it's not as weightless as you thought.

when you try to crumble the stack,

when you try to tear it,

nothing happens.

the papers in their pack,

they are invincible together.

you'd eventually give up...

all that effort lost

on something as ridiculous as destruction.

be wise when you write on that page.

for we are all pieces of paper

just blowing in the wind.

this line made me realize that together we can face any problem the world thrusts upon us because united we stand divided we fall.

'the papers in their pack,

the world will have to bow to us if we are capable of driving away are differences.

Thank you for your poetry, CardinalSouth. Great job on the wording and the message that you communicate! I enjoy how your poem expresses how, when we come together, we have the possibility to be invincible, stronger than if we were divided. One piece of paper may be small, it may be easy to destroy, but a hundred, a thousand...the message you communicated is beautiful, and it helps to express a lot about our society. There are people in life who want to do

"something as ridiculous as destruction"

By which I see you refer to those people in our world who do not have nice intentions. In this solitary, independent society it is not too frequent that I hear of people banding together under a common cause. Like you said in your frequent metaphor, "We are all pieces of paper." I like how those repeated words, which tie this poem together, represent both our solitary society and how people can be so easily manipulated, torn apart, burned - this happens quite frequently in our world. This is a beautiful reminder of the power of humanity that we possess, the ability to break apart the haters and the dark spots of our souls. It's a wonderful poem, and I find no reason for anything within it to be changed. I look forward to seeing your future contributions. Great job!

Hi, I am siya.Wow! I have to say amazing poem. It put the point across very well. I could not agree with you more.
'we're all just pieces of paper,

blowing in the wind.

as weightless as paper,

lifting takes almost no effort.'

this paragraph made me realize that we are just a very tiny part of this vast universe. and that we are nothing in front of it.

'take it in your hand-

it takes no focus, no concentration.

it's not difficult.

you could just as easily crumble that paper,

and throw it out with the trash. '
this is very true since the world is very powerful and has the capability to destroy us without breaking a sweat.

'but what if you have a stack of papers?

when you try to lift it,

it's not as weightless as you thought.

when you try to crumble the stack,

when you try to tear it,

nothing happens.'

Yes, very true. Very very true. I believe that you are right.

What everybody does not know is that if we stick together, just like the stack of papers, we are stronger, but if we are alone, we totally fail immediately, then and there.

Anyway, nice poem, good rhythm. Try for more rhyme to spice it up way further and a lot more. Then try saying it on a metronome. Really helps a lot for me.

That is I think all I have to say. I am typing this in school and I have to hurry now. I have to go to the field for my P.E. lesson literally Physical Education.

Thank you! And usually I'd write it in my standard ABCB format, but I had to turn in a free verse for my class.
