Authors Note: Sorry this is short.
I looked at him, it had been months since I had talked with him in person. This wasn't much different from texting him or talking to him over the phone. I did see him within the month, but it was just a glance.
His brown eyes stared at me like mine looked at him. He was trying to figure out what I was thinking. We sat there for a long amount of time, both of us trying to find the right words to explain what we were feeling towards each other. I guess that's why he hasn't spoken to me besides the simple 'hello'. He was never one that liked to talk about feelings.
I had been good at masking my feelings during this encounter with him. I had made sure that I didn't seem jumpy or too giggly. The first time after he had cut me off from him, I had made a fool of myself. I couldn't get away quick enough.
I had never told him my true feelings, he would only make it hurt worse. So I endure the pain that comes from the want and the need to have him share the same feelings.
I decide to break the silence, "It's good to see you." It is the simplest thing that I could say to him. He regards me for a second, taking in my words and letting them sink in, analyzing them. I know that my words have a reaction, but he doesn't show it with his face or words. He knows that I know, mostly do to the fact that I was his anchor a few months ago. That was the only time his words ever showed any sign of feeling. That's how I know my words have an effect on him.
"It is nice to see you as well." His deep voice is monotonous, careful of keeping his emotions hidden. He nods to me, it is time for both of us to part our different ways. It is at this moment that I wish I had enough courage to tell him everything that I've thought.
I wanted to tell him everything. The apology of leaving him in school to get home schooled, the part where I tell him that I wished he was still my friend and that I still cared about his well being. But those words never come from my mouth and I am left to think about them before I dream.
Instead, I wave a goodbye and he replies with a wave of his own. Words of what will never be said hang between us. I know that he had something to say to me, but like me he lacked the courage to say them. This is the moment that I wish I had the power of telepathy, only to see those words that will never, can never be said out loud.

Timmyjake to give you a review!

This is a great story, and I can feel what the character is going through, especially since I have gone through the same thing. I am homeschooled now, and many of the people who I was closest to have gradually left me, leaving me in my own little world...
I will hit my little nitpicks for you!
That part needs a little work. One way to write it would be, "I had never told him my true feelings, as he would only make it hurt worse(when he refused) or something similar.
That sums up all of my nitpicks, I think. This was beautifully written, honestly. You have immense talent with writing. I think its pretty neat that you wrote this of a part of your life, no matter how neat the part of your life was.
I hope you and your friend are reconciled soon!
~Timmyjake
Thanks, I hope we reconcile as well. And if you knew this person, you would realize that it is his voice that helps him hide his emotions. And I tend to go back an forth between tenses, that's how I experience many things. I calculate and observe people and wonder the past, but be in the present. It's a bad habit.
I understand. I have the same problem sometimes!
Hello! First off, I love the title. The instant I saw it I thought Okay, I want to read that
As a whole, I thought this was really good. The length didn't matter, it didn't feel too short, but I would have liked to know more. Maybe if you ever rewrite this, you could add some more detail, and let the reader get to know the characters better. But this story didn't feel lacking, and the absence of information didn't make me enjoy it any less.
Okay, a couple of nitpicky negatives:
This part doesn't quite make sense. The character hasn't seen him in months, but has seen him within the month? Might need to reword this a little.
If you drop the 'from him' off the end of the sentence it will sound better.
This isn't wrong, per se, but it would sound better, I think, if you used 'told him' instead.
This didn't quite make sense the first time I read it, and I had to reread it. The flow is a bit messy with it like this. Maybe if you added "I wanted to tell him everything..." to the start of it, or maybe not using 'from... to..." Also, I think 'apologising for leaving him' would work better that what's there, because having of after 'apology' doesn't quite sound right.
Aside from these little things, I really enjoyed reading this, and well done on capturing the essence of the romance in so few words. It's realistic and was a pleasure to read.
Thank you. I didn't want to really make the characters detailed because its sort of personal. I will get right on fixing it though.
