You took my heart and tore it in two

You took my trust and gave it away

You saw me for who I am, stared into my soul

Then you just walked away

---

I'm Black, Black, Black as night

Left me longing for the light

That would only greet me/ In death

How, How, How do I...

When will I win this fight?

I have nothing left

You were my everything

You were my life

You were the only thing

That ever kept me grounded

Hey, this is Redapril29th!

This would be a good song, I think. I'm not really a professional but if you had the right person singing it, the right instruments, the right notes.. I would listen to it.

"You took my heart and tore it in two

You took my trust and gave it away

You saw me for who I am, stared into my soul"
This part right here confuses me slightly. 'you saw me for who I am'? I don't understand if this means he or she is a bad person or if you're implying something else?

"I have nothing left

You were my everything

You were my life

You were the only thing

That ever kept me grounded"
This feeling is so familiar, I can relate so easily! This is exactly how I feel about my current boyfriend. We've been together a year, with a few break ups, and I know I'd be empty without him because I've experienced it. He's all I have left in my life, the reason I wake up in the morning, the reason I trudge through the day. Having your lyrics relate to the audience can really help you!

Well, I can't really say anything else because I don't know much about lyrics or anything but I still loving giving my input and telling you great job!

So, great job BitterRosemary!

~RedApril29th.

Thanks so much for your kind review! The lyrics "You saw me for who I am, stared into my soul" refer to the boy that knows you s well, he knows everything about you, even the uly parts. The true heartbreak of the song is when he "sees your soul" so to speak, then walks away anyways, like he's disgusted with the real you or that he thinks hes better than you.
Thanks again for the kind words!

Hi there! :D I usually don't review lyrics, but I'm a musician, so I'll give it a shot here. ;)

First of all, I really liked the way this song is laid out. It's almost as if you can feel the singer's heart breaking more and more as the song continues. I liked the way you mapped this out with the more intense liked towards the end. Often, songwriters try to hit you with intensity at the beginning and then bring it back at the end, but here I think the choice of gradually building and building on it until is a good one. In other words, this verse definitely makes me want to hear the rest. So good job in that regard.

Now then, there was one thing I thought wasn't total awesomeness here: the premise. Although good music (in my belief at least) should be a manifestation of what the musician or songwriter feels emotionally and should also be relatable, the whole idea of the broken heart song is extremely cliche. Don't get me wrong, I like what you've done here and I apologize if this was just a purely emotional outlet. If so, I would encourage to leave it as it is. If you're trying to actually turn this into a song that you would record or perform though, I would suggest that you revamp your general themes a little bit here. I guess why I'm saying is that it's totally okay to write a song about having a broken heart, and everyone's had one before (I actually have one right now come to think of it :P) but if you do decide to go that route, you should try to spice it up and to really put your own unique stamp on it. Like I said, authenticity is extremely important to music and song writing, and right now, as wonderful as it is, this just seems a little bit generic. Then again, generic is okay if this was just a self expression piece. It's only if you were considering making this into a serious project that is suggest any adjustments.

Overall, nice job here. I definitely related to every line and I thought it was beautifully written! Good job and Never Stop Writing! Ever! ;)

Thanks so much! That definitely helps. I have written a plethora of songs, but this is the first i've published on YWS. Yes, for the most part this was an emotional outlet-type song (I wrote it in fourth period). But I see your point with it being cliche. Thanks for your review!

No problem! Hmu if you ever need future reviews on lyrics or anything really! :D
