I notice you're laughing
At my way of life
My way of life
Is seeing angelic things
These angelic things
They love to give me thought
They make me welcome
Make me feel so fun
Angelic things, angelic things galore
Galore with no freedom, no freedom to question
Angelic things, angelic things galore
Galore with no freedom, no freedom to question
I can see people
As they dance to a song
And they are all smiling
Because they love this song
I didn't know this magic
Of making people smile
Would be this uplifting
And would be worthwhile
Angelic things, angelic things galore
Galore with no freedom, no freedom to question
Angelic things, angelic things galore
Galore with no freedom, no freedom to question
When we've finished talking
We'll float on the clouds
And we'll be together
We would be so proud
I didn't know this magic
Of making people smile
Would be this uplifting
And would be worthwhile
Angelic things, angelic things galore
Galore with no freedom, no freedom to question
Angelic things, angelic things galore
Galore with no freedom, no freedom to question
Hey there! I really want to review but my skills aren't too great so I decided to start with you because there is not much chance of you making fun of me. As soon as I started to go through this I was able to find a melody and sing it. I have no idea how you picture this sung, or if you have a melody written, but I sort of screamed out the chorus and the rest I did a bit lower and slower.
Mostly I think this song is great, there are a few things though that are questionable in my eyes. So let's analyse! (I tend to do it in sections, sorry if it seems tedious)
FIRST VERSE- I like the first few lines. << I notice you're laughing >> << At my way of life>> So this shows that you are observing the ways that somebody else sees you or "your way of life". Then you say: << My way of life>> << Is seeing angelic things>>. To me this applies that you think the laughing is pure and angelic, or that you think they are laughing at the fact that you see angelic things and think that it is silly. In the next couple of lines though it looks like you are re-enforcing that these angelic things you see are indeed good. I think that the next couple of lines become a bit of a mouthful after << These angelic things>>. I think this could be because of all the "they's". I think if you leave out the first one it gives an alternating effect and makes it just a bit cleaner.
CHORUS- So obviously I'm only going to do this once. I think that the chorus is really good and there's nothing to criticize. So I suppose I'll just analyse again. So basically it just looks like you see so many angelic things in this world or in your life. But there is no room to question them.
SECOND VERSE- So here it looks like you are saying you have written a song and people love it. I love the simplicity of the first four lines, it gives the entire verse a sort of innocence. It seems like in this verse you have decided to make people happy with your way of life instead of just allowing the angelic things belong to you alone. I think in the last line you can take out the word "And". I think it would just make it cleaner without really changing what you wanted to say.
THIRD VERSE- This bit confused me just a tad. I think maybe because it seems like you changed from the plural address in the second verse and now this looks like you're talking to or about one person. Come to think of it, you had singular, or what looked like it in the first verse. Maybe if you changed it to one of either it might seem a bit less confusing. I don't quite understand why you said "We would be so proud". I think that this first part of the verse doesn't tie in to the rest of the song as well as it should. I do like that you repeated the bit you had in the second verse though.
All in all I really do like this song. I think some punctuation in the verses would help and you need to strengthen it a bit though. I am so sorry if this sounds mean or not supportive or whatever. I tend to sound severe in lyric reviews....... eeek I do hope that you will be able to tale that wonderful mind of yours and find something helpful in here.
Good job! xxx Skye
Awesome writing.
My opinion is that it might be about a circus guy, and your using angels to describe it. I'm probably wrong though. (not the first time)
I liked that you used this little section to repeat in the poem:
"Angelic things, angelic things galore
Galore with no freedom, no freedom to question
Angelic things, angelic things galore
Galore with no freedom, no freedom to question"
Personally I wouldn't pick such a mouthful (don't take my use of wordage offensively) to repeat; it would be easier to read if it was smaller.
Overall good work!
