Summer Will Not Come Again

He speaks to me though willow trees,

To bid me weep no more,

And sing to him, to which we danced,

In limpid nights I longed for.

Tell me by the frost we fought

Two bodies set ablaze that night;

We stormed the sorrows of sleeping souls,

Leaving no more ghosts to fight.

We found the time in summer fog

But broke my garden swing,

Pretending to fly in lonely hours,

Collecting butterfly wings.

He softly speaks of stolen hearts;

Love only dies in tragedy.”

I did not know then when he lied,

One dusk would bring his agony:

Do not let the others know

We had an age that gleams,

From flaking cells of our goodbyes,

I try to weave us dreams”

Hey! Lakshmi here! :)
The first reason I like this poem is that it's really beautiful. Second, it can be related to my life. The way you've put it is really heart-touching and impressive. Take better care of your punctuation. That's all I find for now. Keep up the passionate work! Hoping to read more of your work. :)

P.S: Sorry for the previous blank comment! It was an accident!

Thank you I'm very happy you liked it :) The punctuation does need work so I'll improve that! :)

Hey Tiny here!

This poem is so beautiful I can't even put into words how it built up inside me. From what I understood it seemed like two lovers desperately in love but one partner is depressed and ends up killing them self (correct me if I'm wrong that's just what I deciphered).

Now onto the hard part.

Summer Will Not Come Again

He speaks to me though willow trees,

To bid me weep no more,

And sing to him, to which we danced,

After "To bid me weep no more," end it in a period and start the next line "For me to sing..."

We found the time in summer fog

But broke my garden swing,

Comma between "fog" and "But"

“Love only dies in tragedy.”

Period outside the quotation.

Okay that's about it! Thank you for presenting this world with this beautiful piece of work.

Thank you so much for the feedback! :) You were right about the lovers, that they are torn apart by death but not voluntarily, it was inevitable. I'll work on it, thank you again for the advice!

I'm sorry if the poem doesn't appear in separate stanzas, something isn't working properly with my publishing settings. The stanzas break after "longed for" , "ghosts to fight" , "butterfly wings" and " his agony"

The bigger the issue, the smaller you write. Remember that. You don’t write about the horrors of war. No. You write about a kid’s burnt socks lying on the road. You pick the smallest manageable part of the big thing, and you work off the resonance.
