Beautiful portray of the summer night
Thank you =)
Nothing better than a poem that encapsulates the beauty of a warm, summer night. As someone reading this on one of said nights, with crickets singing away their tunes, all of your imagery and scene setting really immersed my senses.
Almost bringing over this sense of comfort, as I'm sure many seek during the night, to escape from any perils of the day. And you captured it perfectly,
"To make nights longer, I desire
A relief from the burning Sun's pyre"
Very interesting choice to say pyre, which made it stick out the most, as it is usually a wood used for cremation as a funeral rite. It really displays the emotions and adoration for the moon's solace in the night, compared to its counterpart of sol.
"On the horizon, the Sun awaits
To maintain the balance of weights"
This was beautiful, to know the importance of one but still yearn and ache for the other. Summer nights really do slip by.
Thank you for a such a wonderful review, oirichu! Glad to hear you enjoyed reading it. Also, welcome to YWS! It's great to see you already getting around the site so wel.
Hello! Hop here with a review! Please give me some grace as I am not too good at writing reviews! Happy Review Day by the way! Anyways, let's get to the review! (I am going to try on this one)
Okay first off, this poem is gorgeous. Like, I read it once and immediately wanted to go lie in the grass and stare at the stars until my soul felt soft again. You’ve captured that exact feeling of summer nights being more than just warm air, I love that.
When you described the quietness- the way you described it, you made it so cozy! When you say, “Crickets chirping in the near distance” and “the wind ruffles my hair messily” That’s the kind of detail that makes the reader feel like they are there, leaning on the railing experiencing it for themselves.
I also love the ending! "To make the nights longer, I desire" and "A relief from the burning sun's pyre" are such poetic way to say it! (Well, I guess it is a poem lol)
I have no negative things about this to say- I love it completely! Please keep up the amazing work and stay awesome!!!!!!!!
Love,
Hopelessly Hop
