ShadowVyper I think "indie" is short for "independent" so it means the game isn't produced by like Mario Bros but just an independent group -> same with music, it's not like controlled by a record label so can be a bit free-er may be less polished, won't have tons of money behind it buying fans/advertisements etc. Indie music tends to end up kinda hipster-ish and avant-garde I think.
