This is my first time in NaPow and I'm ready to go! My goal-30 Poems.
I've seen many reach for the stars and burn
Mans soul may be immortal stardust
But his heart is mortal rust forever tied
To the rythems of earth as vines to a tree
He may want to gyrate with galaxies
But he is only as strong as his humility
For we all live in silent night, illuminated
As we dance around life's campfire
Underneath the shadows of the sky
The distant lights of space a reminder
That even stars can fall.

I'll probably look back and say-''wow this poem needs editing'' but this is something I had to get of my chest.

Meaning, noun,
something I don't understand.
why should I care
if the geese are here and your nonexistant?
what am I even saying?
My words make no sense they mean nothing.
But wait. I made that clear.
I will never love again I've spent to many days
weeks, months years,
crying alone with only the moon for company
because
you faded away into dust
Do you take my meaning? I will never love again.
You will never mean
anything to me
your existance is gone
gone like windblown leaves
gone they way I wish the scars you left on my soul were.
gone they way my heart is.
that's right-you shattered my heart to near oblivion
and the pieces that remained
i gave away to a star and as far as I know
that star is still shining
I'm winning at life!

From ash, and stardust you were made
To forever dance through sky and space
To see humanity rise to future light
To rejoice by the suns dawn, a bright hope
To sleep by the moons rise, a watchful guardian
To rise in glory
To fall in shame
Reaching for the stars
But always falling back home
Where we learned to live in leaps and bounds
Where our life began
How unforgettable is that place
How precious are those memories
Of the promise of your childhood
We may forever wonder
We may forever look up
But we will always be led back home
Where we belong
Dreaming dreams
Hoping hopes
Living life
Grounded among the roots of earth and time.
Forever one with Earth.
I'm winning at life!

Even In Thy Night
Life will often seem dark and cold with shadows cast and men fallen to
their doom, but grant me this – just as there be things to be seen by day
alone there be things that can only be seen by night. For not all can be
understood in sunlight. Indeed, some things reveal themselves by shade of night alone. If thou shall doubt that then grant me this – after bitter night, the light will come. Indeed thy darkest night can only lead to brightest dawn. It may be that light and dark are one in the same, or it may be there is reason for the shadow, and light be the dawn that comes once the night hath fulfilled its purpose. If thou shalt not believe me in that, then grant me this – there be a light in thy darkest hour. Consider the moon that shines by night with stars sprinkling the sky. Thy night allows for the most beautiful of glories to shine. Hope may ever be so faint, but she is not gone. If thou cannot see the way in sight, then lose all vision and see with thy other senses – faith, hope, and love, and the way will find thee. The dawn will rise after thy night for God hath commanded her too. Though Lord Christ may not seem to have been there for thee in thy bygones thou may trust that he will bring the sunlight when time sees fit. If thou doubt me in all things, then grant me this – life shall go on in all its hope, joys, dreams and bitter suffering.
Even in thy night.
I'm winning at life!

I am me I can't change for you
And I won’t waste my life
Being your version of perfect
I chase the winds, I run free
This is my life, not yours
I will not be chained by you
You do not tell me who to be
Get used to what you see
For I’m going to be me.
I'm winning at life!

dark waves crash over me
am i dead, am i alive?
or has something inside faded?
i can't see yet I have sight
I can't feel yet i have sense
memory, after memory
the sweet song of childhood
the warning cry of adulthood
am I dreaming,
or is this a nightmare?
my heart speeds up
thump thump thump
i feel something like ice,
Peirce against my skin
it's raining.
i open my eyes
i find myself
falling falling
falling
ascending into shadows
ascending into blackness
ascending into fear
I'm winning at life!

This doesn't appear to have any meaning. I was trying to describe the way my life felt compared to a blackhole...it's complicated.
all consuming,
nothing escapes
all imprisoned
everything is chained
inside the blackhole of my mind
I slowly fade away into nothingness
my existance warped and forever changed
I can't helped but wonder-will i ever live again?
I'm winning at life!

You'll also find this one on my wall (:
I am human, a wind-tossed leaf, a fallen heart whose battled night
In hopes to rise, but only to find, that shadows loomed within...
....
They cannot see the scars that smite my soul,
No one ever loves a loner, seeking humanity
Nor do they clean the dust across her heart
Or understand the tears she cries alone
And all are blind to the battles she fights
.....
You have left me to shadows, haunted by monsters inside
But still I lift my head, and bear these beautiful scars in pride
No one ever loves to fall but perhaps that's the only way to rise.
I'm winning at life!

I like to imagine you dancing with stars
and sometimes, if I look closely I swear
I can see your face amung the clouds
you are gone that I understand
but you are still alive in my heart
and those memories of you
feel like they were lived yesterday
and sometimes if I look deep within
myself I see your face smiling again.
i still feel agony at the thought of you
but then i grin for joy remembering
all the love, the happiness, and thoughts we shared
and then I know-you are waiting for me in the land beyond death
I'm winning at life!

I can feel an intensity radiating from your poetry, EverLight! I particularly enjoyed the most recent poem because I felt that you captured the experience of mourning someone quite well.

I'm feeling the star/celestial theme coming through EverLight! I think the chunk that you highlighted in the Squills interview is particularly beautiful imagery - and the "ashes" reminded me of the creation of Adam & Eve; with a little twist. :)
"From ash, and stardust you were made
To forever dance through sky and space
To see humanity rise to future light"
maybe i make up colors for poetic cadence, but i don't think i can ever love someone who doesn't understand that teal is a different color than dark cyan

Lamentations I
Me To The World
I know what you must think of me,
All sightless, and suppsedly helpless
Blind to the beauty of the earth
Incapable of seeing love in anothers eyes
But don't think I am without emotion
Do you know that every night I'm screeching at the stars
Wondering why everything hurts so much?
I know I act like the leader sometimes
All brave and noble, my empathy hidden deep down
But don't be fooled, I didn't ask for this
I mean, you seriously think I want
To sacrifice my every hope, my every dream?
Or give up the only light I ever saw?

Lamentations II
Me To Loved Ones
Everything used to be orderly
I knew right from wrong
I could tell you who I was
I once had my place with them
Then my identity went to flames
And the storm in me began.
I try to do whats right and no one could try harder
But these lies, they constantly echo in my mind
Telling me that I am nothing, and worthless
I'm sorry, if all you see in me is fury
But this is breaking my heart!
I'm winning at life!

Lamentations III
Me To My Heart
So you think I can hear
But what if I told you
That deep inside I'm deaf
That I just want to be me
And escape from this agony
All I ever wanted was to be a normal
I never asked to be your eyes and ears
I'm winning at life!
