But like... it's more like hiding a camera where I can watch what they're doing without them knowing... wait..." Sadie sat up, instantly suspicious, her gaze flicking around the room. Sadie scoffed, cussing under her breath, and stood up, scanning her eyes around. She strode over to the TV to see if it was equipped with any spy cams around the edges.

Alex froze. “You still have your phone right? People say that if you turn on selfie mood and sweep your camera around the room, camera lens cause this glint on your screen.” Xe paused. “That might not be true, but we could at least try it or something.”

They nodded. “Yeah. Just like that. And then your camera has this burst of light where the camera is.” Xe joined Sadie. “It’s something about how the camera records and what the lens uses to capture images.”

"Look at you, knowing more about tech than me," Sadie said playfully, scanning the camera around like they said. Then she stared directly into the camera panning around both of them to look directly at you. Yes, you. Reader, sitting here, knowing fully well that they were probably being watched. She blinked at you. You blink back. Then she continued scanning the room, pretending it didn't happen.

Alex laughed, avoiding the eyes of the reader. They didn’t like making eye contact, even when it came to a fourth wall break. “Oh, look! There was a glimmer right there.”
They turned around. “It looked like it came from that corner over there.”

(Sorry for the delay! Been super behind on literally everything lately ;-; )
Sadie tensed, glaring at the spot that Alex had gestured. They were right. She took a deep yet shaky breath and walked towards it to investigate. Sure enough, it was the tiniest of cameras but was secured firmly to the bottom of a picture frame.
She walked towards it with her fingers raised towards it, flipping it off. Hopefully they were paying close enough attention to the tapes that they'd see it on replay, but not close enough attention that they would notice it right away. Either way, she'd made her defiance known, and that was good enough for her. She quickly pulled a fuse and then twisted it around to short out the camera. There was a spark and tiny plume of smoke and then she could feel the electricity leave the camera -- disabled. She turned back towards the rest of the room. "There's going to be more than this. I'm sure of it."

Alex nodded, waving the plume of smoke away. “Should we look for them or just accept our fate as totally, irreparably screwed?” They groaned. “God, I’m so stupid.” Xe smacked xer forehead with their wrist bone. “And now we’re probably in so much more trouble than we were before.”

"Meh." She kept scanning with the camera, finding another over by the TV and starting towards it. She picked up the tiny camera and stared straight into the lens. "I don't even care. I'm coming for you. And you can't stop me. Even if you know about it. Might not be today. Might not be tomorrow. But I'm still better than the whole lot of you combined... stalkers." She broke that camera too.

Alex took a deep breath. "Okay, okay. We should check the ceiling. They might've hidden one in the smoke detector. Or in the bathroom." Xe froze. "We haven't found any microphones."
