"So...your family is seriously funding this whole place?" Leo asks, his blue eyes widened in amazement. I nod and smile.

"Yep! Without us this place would be trash." I say happily. Leo nods slowly, and is about to say something else, but is cut off by Avery bursting into the room. Suddenly both me and Leo's faces are devoid of smiles and are completely serious.

"V, whats wrong?" Leo asks, as Avery walks directly into his arms.

"I vomited in front of everyone. I feel like crap. I wanna go home." She mutters against his chest.

"But Avery, I thought that you were gonna show Leo around." I ask with a smirk.

"How about you run by o the nurses office? Alosha is actually the new nurse. The old one actually won the lottery and was just waiting for a replacement to come." Leo says. Avery shakes her head.

"Can you have her come here? I wanna sit in one of the bean bag chairs in the back." She says quietly. When given this job I wanted to make it fun, instead of all work, so once a week I have the kids have their own study hall with a bunch of colorful bean bag chairs and large pillows on top of the fuzzy carpet I bought. Leo nods, and picks up Avery and carries her to the back to relax, while I call the nurses office.

"Hey babe. Can you run by and check on Ave? She isn't feeling that well." Alosha says that she'll be here before classes starts and as soon as she hangs up the principal walks into the room with a warm smile.

"Hi Dylan! I hope that your enjoying the school and everything. I just wanted to check in with you before classes start." She says, her usually piercing blue eyes friendly and warm.

"Oh yeah! I was just hoping that my cousin Avery could stay in here for the day." I say, making sure to bite my lip at the end of the sentence just to ensure her yes. She looks conflicted, looking from Avery, to me and then she sighs.

"Sure. That's fine. Avery is a straight A student. I'm sure that one day wouldn't do anything to her grades." She says.

"I'll make sure to go to all of her missed classes and get the work that she hasn't done." Leo pipes in. The principal nods and then turns back to me flirtatiously.

"Just come to me if you need anything later. My door is always open..." She says as she walks out. I hear Avery giggle just as the bell to first period rings. As everyone sits, and a few of the cheerleaders look worriedly at the black of the classroom, I begin class.

"Okay! Hi guys! I hope that you've had a nice winter break. I would like to introduce you to my new student aide, Leo Westings. He's talented in knowing many different languages, including in knowing German and French fluently, and he also took several college classes in economics. So...treat him nicely guys."The girls are drooling. Literally, their ogling the crap out of him. So much so that I almost feel uncomfortable.

"Sorry i'm late baby!" Alosha says, adding insult to injury on an already bad situation. I hear several of the guys in the classroom gasp as she walks in. She's wearing what looks like one of those sexy nurse halloween costumes. The shorts sleeve white dress is more than a bit higher than her mid thigh, while the V-neck is cut so low that her already large breasts are already almost jumping out, all the while her long black straightened hair is swinging at her waist. And good god are those stripper heels?

"Ah yes. And this is my fiancè." I say to the class out of gritted teeth.

"Hi guys! I'm the new nurse!" She says excitedly waving, making her...upper area...say hello.

"Ah...yes. Avery is in the back. Please take care of her." I say, and Alosha skampers quickly to the back.

"Okay! So! Veuillez écrire comment vos pauses étaient. Aujourd'hui." I say, and sit down at my desk.

Jane Wills

This is when I realized he forgot about me. Was I that bad? Was I so bad that when he got hit in the head, the memory was too pained by the relationship that it erased it? Was this actually true. It hurt to think he would ever forget about me.

Now I was in French class with Mr. Piest which was extremely awkward. It's the first day after winter break. And now we have a student aid, Mr. Leo Westings. He looked familiar, but I had no idea why. One other reason this class felt weird was cause I knew him to be Kristin's brother... and I found him so attractive that it was bad.

He's just too attractive to be a teacher. He'll make all the girls drool. And he makes me uncomfortable. Maybe cause he saw Will and I in the closet and got the wrong idea. Or maybe something else. I don't know... and well, I don't care.

The bell rang just as I was falling asleep. Lifting my head up, I watched all the students stand up, so I followed suit. I the my books into my backpack and stood up following the class out of he room.

"Everyone, remember to do your homework!" Mr. Piest said.

I turned my head as I was at the door and looked over at him. He gave me a small smile and went to talk to Leo about something. With a burning feeling, I left the room and went my way to my locker. That's when all things changed.

"So, Jane..." this girl from my French class said as I turned the knob on my lock.

"What?" I asked, pulling at the lock and opening my locker.

"How do you know Mr. Piest?"

Turning my head, I found myself looking at a very pretty, slim ass looking blonde. She had brown eyes that were big and high cheekbones. These types of girls didn't ever speak with me. I swallowed hard and took out my coat from my locker, throwing it on myself. Then, I swung my backpack onto my back from the ground and shut the locker, locking it with the lock.

"I don't." I replied.

I started to walk past her, but then she touched my arm, simply touched it. It made me stop in my place.

"Yeah you do, don't lie. I see the way you guys look at each other. Are you seriously fucking the teacher now? He is hot and everything, so I get it."

Shit. I couldn't breathe. Something in my throat clogged it, making my airwaves beg for oxygen. But I knew it was just the stress this bitch was causing me. I shut my eyes and counted to three.

Once my head cleared, I took a deep breathe and walked straight, heading for the school parking lot.

***

Even though I knew he still wouldn't remember me, I couldn't not come and see him. It was just after school and Lacey told me they wouldn't be coming today. So I could be alone with him. Which was a little scary.

The hospital felt sterile with only the sounds of doctors and machines going around. I found my way to Emmett's room after informing the nurses where I was going. The TV was on in his room, you could hear it from the door. I turned the door knob, pushing the door open. Emmett was eating something from the tray in front of him as he stared at the TV. I walked inside, swallowing hard.

"Hey Emm," I smiled, shutting the door behind me.

He looked up, caught aback. I walked up to his bedside, pulling the chair from behind me and sitting on it. It wasn't the most comfortable chair, but I really wouldn't complain. Just seeing the hospital made my heart race, and it wouldn't stop.

"Jane, right?" he made sure, his eyebrow cocking up as he looked at me.

"Yeah..." I sighed, feeling my body crash. Just the thought he had to reassure that I was Jane made me ill.

"How are you?" he chewed on something as he spoke.

"I'm alright... and you? Are you any better?"

He set the bowl back on the tray and pushed the mini table on the bed over so it reached the end of the bed. It was connected to it, so it just rolled forward. I watched it as it rolled, keeping my thoughts on other than Emmett.

"I guess..." he sighed. "I am starting to remember a bit."

"Like what?"

"Uh... not really much. Nothing important."

I sighed, looking down at my hands. They were fidgeting as I held back my tears, bracing myself for more of the memory loss.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yeah, I'm... I'm just tired. Long day," I looked up and gave him a weak smile.

He nodded, looking back at the TV for a moment. And then he grabbed the remote from the bedside table, shutting off the TV. Now all you heard were the beats of his heart coming from the machine.

"There are always long days." he smiled back. "So, Jane, what are you doing here?"

Facing him, I couldn't speak. Obviously I'd visit him! He's so important to me. But he has forgotten that.

"I just wanted to see you, if you were okay." I said.

"My first day out, and I don't even know where to go. I have 50 bucks. New pair of shoes?" I looked down at my old, worn out converse. "Definitely."

I started walking down the sidewalk, 'Move Along- by All American Rejects' blasting in my ears.

"Man...what store? Eh, I'll find one."

Maybe I talked to myself too much? Ah, who cares?

Halana, my Foster Mom, had told me that I needed to make friends. Who wanted to be friends with me? Seriously. I'm an outcast.

Actually, I think I'm pretty cool. But others seem to think I'm weird. Maybe it's because I dance like I'm being chased by a pack of wolves?

I laughed at myself.

Man, maybe I really do need friends.

I came across a store called 'The Shoe Department.' Whoa. So original.

Smiling at my sarcasm, I opened the door, and pulled out an ear bud as the cashier greeted me.

"Hi! I'm Catherine. Feel free to explore, and if you need anything, just say my name!" She said loudly, and excitedly.

She had blonde hair, pulled up in a tight ponytail, and dark brown eyes.

"Will do." I replied, as friendly as I could.

I never really talked to anyone, other than Halana, and my foster siblings.

After finding a new pair of black and white converse, and buying them, I had about $15 left, so I went to a fast food restaurant.

Good day? Well, it was better than my usual days.

I ordered a burger, fries, and a sprite, then sat at a close-by table to wait.

"I honestly don't know whats wrong with me." I say, looking up at Leo as he sits down next to me. Everyone in class is finally filing out for lunch. I plan to just continue lounging around here, like I have since I first came in the classroom. But then my stomach growls. Leo sighs and plops down onto the bean bag seat next to me.

"Do you maybe have a stomach virus? Or maybe...I don't know. Stress?" He looks at me with wide eyes. "Has my...proposal to you...upset you?" He asks slowly and worriedly. I roll my eyes and cross my arms.

"Don't be stupid Leo." I uncross my arms and turn to him with a small smile. "Your proposal made me happier than i've ever been in my life. Well that and the first time that we had sex. Now that was one amazing day. Or well night." I say with a goofy smile. He reaches over and strokes the side of my face and I tilt my head into his hand.

"You're amazing V. It makes me the happiest guy on this earth to know that you're going to be my wife in the future." He leans over and kisses me, and then smiles/grimaces when he pulls back after a few seconds. "Its crazy. You're still one of the best kissers i've ever encountered, but that taste of puke...doesn't quite do it for me." He says with a grin. I smack him on the arm playfully and laugh.

"It's not my fault that you haven't gotten me a stick of gum yet." I say, and stick my tongue out at him. He rolls his eyes adorably.

"These days, i'm beginning to wonder if i'm your actual butler. You certainly treat me like one." He says and fake pouts. I kiss him on the cheek.

"Nah. But ,as the wonderful boyfriend you are, I do request that you indulge me. So would you mind bringing me to that fast food place down the road?" I ask,and he sighs again.

"I'll start the car." He says, and helps me up.

----------------------------------

My mouth full of my recently ordered bacon double cheeseburger, I look up at Leo, whose quietly munching on a salad, and smile brightly, after swallowing.

"I truly needed this babe. Thanks." I say, taking another large bite. For a second he looks as if he's ready to say something witty, snarky, or both. But he meets my eyes and sees that i'm sincere and then he smiles brightly himself.

"Anything for you." He says, and continues his salad. When I look up after swallowing another large bite, I notice a pretty girl sitting by herself, waiting for her food I guess. I love people watching. Honestly, its my third favorite activity, after sex, and smoking weed. This girl seems pretty interesting though. Although she's sitting all by herself, she smiling brightly, as if she knows a joke that nobody else does. Suddenly she gets up and grabs the bag of food, and begins walking out. Before I can stop myself, I find myself calling out to her.

"Hey! You!" I say, loudly. She jumps a little and looks over at me strangely.

"Um...yes?" She asks, obviously more than just a tad weirded out by me calling out to her.

"Do you have plans? Anytime soon?" I ask, a bit assertively, but theres something about this girl that i like. She looks down for a little bit and then up as if considering. And then she shakes her head slowly. I smile and wave her over to the table.

"Cool. Than come sit with us." I tell her. While she slowly walks over to the booth, I shoot Leo a look, and he quickly moves more into the booth seat. She climbs into the booth seat and then looks between both Leo and I nervously.

"So why-" I cut her off.

"First, whats your name?" I ask. She swallows and then meets my eyes with her pretty bluish gray ones.

"I'm Harley Mae. But you can cal me Arli. I guess." She says. I nod and then smile softly at her.

"My name is Avery Piest. You can call me Ave." I say and then take a bite out of my burger. While i'm chewing merrily, Leo pipes in.

"Excuse V please. When she sees something she wants she just goes for it. I guess that she just wanted to know you." He shrugs. "I'm Leo, by the way. Her fiance." He says smiling at me. I smile back and turn back to Harley.

"You seem new. I don't know, but something just tells me that you are. I was planning on having a nice and formal get together for our wedding. Not particularly a engagement party. Just a fancy little shindig in the city because...well...i'm getting married. And because you're new, it would probably allow you to meet some new people. So why not." I say with a small shrug. She's staring at me strangely again.

"What?" I ask, my face shaping into a frown.

"Well...you've just met me...and you're inviting me to a private get together. It's just a little bit weird. I mean for all you know I can be an axe murderer or something." She says shrugging. I roll my eyes.

"I like you. And you're skinny as hell. You couldn't be an axe murderer if you wanted to be. So yes or no?" I ask. Leo sighs.

"She hardly knows us Avery. Give her time to think about it." I nod at him, and then pull out my phone.

"Put your number in my contacts please." I say, more as a demand than a question. She types it out quickly and then starts getting up to leave.

"It was nice meeting you two. And thanks for inviting me. I'll definitely think about it." She says, and then leaves. I roll my eyes.

"Throw out my food Leo. I wanna go for a walk." I say, getting up and stretching.

"What exactly looked so interesting about her?" Leo asks, as we walk hand in hand through town. I shrug.

"Nothing in particular. I just want a new friend. Life is becoming too perfect. Too stagnant." I say, swinging our hands. He nods and looks across the street and then smiles brightly.

"I have an idea of something fun for you to do." He says, and points to the bridal shop. I smile brightly and then run across the street, Leo in tow. When we get inside of the bridal shop I hurriedly give my sizes to the woman in the front, and ask for her to give me something to try on. She nods with a smile, and Leo and I hurriedly find little accessories.

"You can come try this on now, honey." She helps me to button it up, while I let my curly hair down from its ponytail and put the little diamond encrusted crown in it, place my feet into a pair of white pumps, and shove my hands into the pair of white satin gloves I found in the accessories station. And then I step out and hurriedly walk to Leo who's standing in front of the modeling mirrors. And he smiles a smile so genuine and heartfelt, I almost feel like crying myself.

"Avery...look at yourself." He says quietly. When I turn to the mirrors I gasp. I see Mrs.Westings in the mirror. I turn to Leo and then back to the mirrors. And everything else blurs out except for the two of us.

Spoiler
A tad corny...but they're just so wonderful together! I can hardly write a post with the two of them without it being corny.

Holding my food, I walked down the sidewalk, thinking about the couple who just invited me to a party.

I've never been to a party.

I don't even know what I would wear...

"Maybe I should go...I'd be nice to get out." I said to myself.

Stopping, I sat on a bench, and sipped on my new converse, and threw my others in the box my new ones came in.

"Fits perfectly." I whispered, and smiled.

Standing up again, I held the box, and my bag of food, and walked towards the Orphanage.

"Arls! You're back! What took so long?" My foster sister, Callie, asked, tugging on my arm as I walked in.

I thought for a moment. "I just got some new shoes," I replied. "...and food."

"OOO! Can I have some, huh? Pleaseeee?" She begged.

Sighing, I walked to the kitchen. "Where's Halana?"

Cal shrugged, and hopped up onto the counter. "Well, where's the others?"

"They went to the park with Halana."

"You just said you didn't know where Halana was."

"That's cause I don't!"

I slapped my forehead, and opened my bag of food, and handed her some fries.

"Did she leave you here alone?" I asked, after unwrapping my burger.

"Nopee! I'm here with Tacket, but he's sleeping." Cal said, shoving a fry into her mouth.

I rubbed my face, and chewed my food. "Hm."

"Arls?" Cal said.

"Yeah?" I asked, my mouth half full.

"Please don't...um, please don't move away from us." Cal whispered, barely audible.

I looked at her, her big green eyes staring up at me. "Never would I ever leave you guys."

Callie grinned, and finished off her fries, then hopped down, and skipped off.

Taking another bite of my burger, I started thinking of the couple, then decided that I would go to their formal party.

Who knows? I might just make some friends who'll actually like me.

So, Avery was throwing a small shin-dig in the middle of the city for her wedding. And many people were invited. People I didn't even know were showing up with smiles and presents for the lovely couple.

I wonder. When are they getting married anyway?

Shaking my head, I held onto Kristin's hand as we greeted guests.

Setting up the party was hectic. Kristin and I were the ones planning it with all these people setting it. Avery and Leo were out on a grand date. Kristin really wanted to please Aver so she begged to set it up herself. And of course, I tagged along. It took us a few hours to get this perfect, but when the clock struck six PM, we were dressed and ready. The couple of the night didn't show up yet.

"Kristin, I invited Jane." I sighed to her, "But she's not coming. If she were, she'd already be here. She's probably at the hospital."

Her eyes got wide as her mouth opened into an 'O' shape. I held my breath and wondered why she was so shocked.

"She's at the hospital? What happened to her?" oops.

I let my breath go and smiled, trying to calm her down. "Emmett got in a car accident, I found him. So Jane has been visiting him ever since."

"Oh my God, is Emmett okay?!" she got frantic, her eyes got wild as I saw sweat drip down her forehead.

Pulling out a napkin from my pocket, I wiped her forehead and then pulled her close so I could look into her eyes. I placed my hands on her waist and she shut her eyes, hiding her head in my chest. I put my head on top of hers and felt her breath. She was so warm and I knew she felt safe.

"He's alright, just a few broken ribs and... memory loss." I whispered.

"Memory loss?" I felt her move her head, so I moved mine and we looked into each others eyes. That's when I saw it. She really cared for him, just lie she cared for Jane, for Avery, even for me. Her eyes were tearing up.

"Yeah, he doesn't remember Jane." I sighed, trying to stop myself from crying. I felt the tears building up before my eyes. "It really sucks Kris. She can't take it. She wanted him to even remember the bad things about her, just to remember." My voice cracked. "If I ever forget you, fucking kill me. I couldn't live with myself if I ever forgot you."

She ran her hand down my cheek, and that's when I noticed, I had let some tears shed. A smile formed on her face as tears streamed down hers. I wiped them with my napkin and then smiled myself.

"Babe, I'll make sure of it." she joked.

I pulled her into a tight hug and felt complete. It's like we were made for each other. Ever crease of her fit every crease of me. I let myself sink into the hug and squeeze my arms tight around her body as she did the same. Some guests walked passed us and I smiled to them, waving as well.

"We better get back to the party." I said, pulling away.

"Yeah," she smiled.

Of course.

I looked at the newspaper, admiring the picture of Avery and Leo, gazing at each other in a small hug. Underneath the picture, it read 'A Wedding Party For This Lovely Couple Under The City Lights. This Friday!'. There was a card in the mail sent to me, probably by accident, inviting me to the party. I was on the list for their wedding. Why was I on the list? I couldn't go, it's embarrassing.

But all I could remember is spending the night by the beach with Avery. She looked beautiful by the waves, always has. It just worried me why she even followed me. Like, what would it do? Nothing. I still don't understand. We are not the same as we were. She has a new guy, a great guy, a wonderful guy that will love her more than I ever would have. There was always something tearing us apart but also bringing us together. I feel like our relationship was toxic. So, maybe it was good we weren't together.

"Hey, Billy!"

My heart started to race as I shot my glance up to my bedroom door. Billy. No one has called me that in years.

"Billy! Where the fuck are you?!" and that's when I knew who it was.

I felt my face tense as my muscles started to tense up as well. Everything in me was ready to blow as I set down the newspaper on my bed and stood up, walking to my door. Every step I took felt like stepping on hot coals, burning at my toes. I had to take a few deep breaths to manage to calm myself enough to not punch him.

"I know you're here. John failed to keep your hiding place hidden. You're coming home, bastard." his voice made me jump

It was my father.

Placing my hand on the door knob felt like I was twisting the time stream to a bad place. In the end, I still opened the door and braced myself for the slaps of wrath from his mouth. And there he was, face red and eyes wild. He looked older, as if the stress got the better of him. Still, he was tall, slim, and a handsome man. But there were these edges that were sticking out, showing you he wasn't right.

"Hello, dad." I gave him a fake smile. "I missed you." such sarcasm never filled my voice before.

"Don't start with the Lifetime shit." he shook his head, his hair shaking in the process. This is where I got my looks, which terrified me to God's end. I never wanted to look like him, but I was all him. "You're going to get your shit together and come home."

"What? Did you miss me?" I asked, laughing a bit under my breath.

"Don't play with me son. I can never miss such a disgrace..." that sorta hurt my heart. "But your mother wants you home."

"For what? So you guys can control my life again? That's not going to happen! I'm staying here, father."

His fists clenched as he tried to control himself. I felt every urge to run. But if he was going to punch me, I'd let him. I'd take it. Just so he could see how much I didn't care, how much it'd hurt him to see me in pain without showing it. I'd stand there and stare at him as I bled. He deserved to see that.

"Fine," he gave up after a few moments of staring at me. He didn't even try to punch me. "Stay here, rot in hell. Whatever."

"You're the one that's going to rot." And I felt like I blew it, that he would actually hurt me.

But all he did was turn around and take a few deep breaths, clenching and un-clenching his fists. It felt like an eternity as I held my breath and braced myself for the impacts. He then took a few steps forward, and left altogether. Once the door shut downstairs, I let my breath go and fell to the wood floor, shutting my eyes and letting myself sit in silence against the wall for a moment.

I let my breath go as my mind went blank.

And then my phone rang. I didn't want to talk to anyone. I didn't want to do anything. I just... I couldn't take anything now. After a minute, it stopped, then started again. This person was urgent. Who would be urgent? No one liked me anymore.

Either way, I stood up and opened my bedroom door, looking at the phone on my bed. The screen was flashing as it rang ACDC. I walked up and took it in my hand, looking at the caller ID, it was Uncle John. He was probably worried and hoped I was alive. If my father did try to beat me, I'd beat him ten times harder. And he'd regret it. But I still answered the call, he needed to know I was okay.

"Hey Unc," I said, noticing how weak my voice was.

"Are you okay? You don't sound okay. Did he hurt you?" he voice though was strong and ready to pounce.

"I'm okay, he didn't do anything... I'm just frustrated." I replied, sitting on the bed and shutting my eyes again.

"Oh, he didn't...?" I knew what he was getting at.

"It was weird, he just spoke. I'm good. He left."

I let myself fall onto the bed, sinking my body into the comforter. It felt so right, so comfortable there. So I stayed there.

"Okay, good." he paused. "I'll be home in a few minutes. Oh, and Happy New Year, Will. We'll do something to cheer you up."

He called me Will for a reason. Everyone that Liked me called me Will. Only because my sister used to call me Billy, then my family called me Billy. it was a great nickname that I didn't mind. Until she died, of course. And then it sounded like a curse. Like a blood thirsty word. I couldn't handle it. Whenever my dad needed me, it was Billy. And that would lead to endless pain from either verbal abuse of beating me up. So, I just was never please with being called Billy ever again.

"Sure, I'll see ya." I said.

"Bye,"

I dropped my phone next to me and got comfortable, letting myself fall asleep. My father wouldn't come back. There was no reason to. Well, to try to get me out of here for mom. But I highly doubt it.

It was a good idea to have a party on New Year's Eve for a wedding. Avery had a good idea with that. But it was today, and I couldn't go. And that's when I fell asleep.

***

"I'll go pick it up. Just stay put, I'll be back." I told my uncle.

He smiled, downing a beer.

"Good thing you didn't start drinking yet. Just remember, I want the sour cream and onion. I can't stand that barbecue shit." he laughed.

"Of course, I'm the one addicted to that shit..." I smiled.

I got out of the house and felt the cold wind blow passed me, sending shivers down my spine. Shutting the door behind me, I found my way to my pick-up and hopped in, turning the ignition right way. I needed this baby to heat up. That's when I saw the snow covering my windshield. Shaking my head, I grabbed the brush from the passenger seat and jumped out of the car.

Brushing the snow off, I made sure I was going quick. I didn't wanna freeze. Once I finished, I ran back into the truck, throwing the brush on the floor. I switched on the wipers and they swept off the remaining snow. Buckling up, I switched the gear and hit the gas, driving off to the nearest store.

The only store near me that was open was Jewel-Osco. I parked in an empty spot which was conveniently near the entrance. Running, I made it inside with only a few drops of snow on my head.

I searched the aisles and found the chips, grabbing the ones I needed. Next, I ran to the cash registers, pushing passed the massive amount of people. For a holiday, there were too many people here, more than on an average day. I didn't want to be stuck here, so I tried my best to find a shirt line. In the progress of my running and looking, I didn't watch where I was going. So right then and there, I ran into someone and fell on my back against the floor. That's when my adrenaline vanished and I shut my eyes, waiting for the pain striking my body to fade. Once it did, I sat up, opening my eyes to a very pretty girl laying on the floor.

Scrambling to stand up, I managed and then walked over to the girl. She was cringing as she pushed herself to a sitting position. That's when I saw what she was wearing. It looked like she was headed to a party. I bet down and stuck my arm out so she could take my hand. She did, looking at me with tired eyes. They were a blue-gray color which made her so pretty. I pulled her up and we both stood, still holding hands.

"I'm really sorry, I wasn't looking." I gave her a cheeky smile.

Her eyes darted from me to the ground. Oh man, she was shy. It looked cute on her. I couldn't help but stare at her. I mean, she had a delicate face which worked well with her long brown hair.

"It's alright, just next time, please watch where you're going." she pulled her hand away from mine as her voice got tense.

"I apologized." I tried.

"Right," she huffed, rolling her eyes.

"Whatever, I'm being nice." I paused. "Look, as an apology, how about I take you out for coffee?"

Her eyes finally met mine and for a second, I couldn't breath. She was shorter than me, but since she was in heels, her head reached the height of my chin.

Luna

Parking my car under the shade of a tree, I pull the key out of the ignition, effectively cutting off Lacey in the middle of the chorus of her song All Around Me. The door swiveled shut of it's own accords I headed onto the side, pressing the lock button on my keys. Two quick chirps and I was off to do something, what, I didn't know. School had let out early because some dumb ass had set off a stink bomb in the ventilation shafts and stunk the entire school up. Not like I cared anyway. I'd been contemplating ditching school since I first walked in there this morning. Now that I had the rest of the day to myself, I didn't know what to do with it. The day was fairly beautiful. The sun smiling down on us as birds soared above in the cerulean Blue sky, and plump fluffy snow colored clouds leisurely lazed by with nothing better to do.

"What to do, what to do," I say to myself. "Maybe i'll find a bench and people watch."

I think on it for moment, then toss it out. I frown to myself. I really need friends. Or at least a pet or something. I should really get out more. Maybe make new friends, or talk to the people I know now. Now I feel stupid because I just realized that I don't have any of their numbers.

"What a dumb ass," I shake my head.

Wait! I remember that I have Avery's number in my phone and pull it out. I wonder what she's been doing, how she'd been. Just before pressing dial, Something white catches my eye and I look up to see i'm in front of a bridal shop. I stop, looking at the dresses lined up front. Out of impulse, I walk in, looking around at all of the dresses out on display. For a moment, I wonder what it would be like to wear one and walk down the aisle to that special somebody waiting for me at the other end. I walk around, taking in everything, doing a double take when I see Avery wearing a dress and locking lips with a guy I've never seen before.

"Avery?" I say in surprise.

She doesn't jerk back like I expect her to. Instead, she stays planted to the guy, and the only movement that she shows to acknowledge that she heard me is slowly opening her eyes. And then she slowly separates from the guy and smiles softly.

"Luna. Long time, no see. How's it going?" She asks calmly.

For a second, I wonder if she's cheating on Will. I mean, the last time I saw her they were inseparable. But, if that was the case, she would have at least been a little bit panicked at being found out. And she wouldn't be making out in front of the store windows for the world to see.

"Nothing much," my eyes assess the guy with his arm around her. "You? I seem to have missed something."

"Oh this is Leo. The fiance. Long story short, Will cheated on me with Jane, dumped me, Leo enters the picture, I realize that he's the best guy ever, Leo gives me a promise ring, and yeah. He's going to actually propose when I turn eighteen. Which seems like awhile from now, but i'm patient." She smiles up at him and he looks down at her with his own genuine grin.

Before he forgets he quickly turns to me. "Nice to meet you. I'm the fiance." He says, extending his hand to me with a soft smile.

I reach out and take his hand, taking a liking to him instantly as he firmly shakes my hand. "I'm Luna. The friend you've just met."

"Isn't he wonderful!" Avery squeals.

"The jury is still out on that one," I smirk. "but we'll see."

"Oh," Avery's eyes light up "I'll be having a party soon! It was kinda spur of the moment, and i'm not sure if everyone will come, but I wanted to have a surprise "I'm getting married!" formal party in the city. I mean the whole nine. Ball gowns, a harpist, hell, I even want an ice sculpture of the two of us, and maybe even a chocolate fountain! I just want it to be big. Just to show everyone how big this whole thing is to me. I mean...i'm getting married!" She says smiling brightly while looking between Leo and I, her eyes practically glowing with excitement.

"I'm glad to see you're so excited and happy about this." I smile at her. "You seem to have finally found what you've been looking for. You seem to be the only one who's got there shit together."

She shrugs and smiles softly.

"I wouldn't quite go there. I mean, I still need to get through college and all of that. But at the moment it seems that way. How about you? I mean I know that you're doing great in school, but have you gotten yourself a boyfriend yet?" she asks, her eyes wide and curious.

"Uh," I clear my throat. "not really. Why do you ask?"

I look around the shop feeling like an embarrassed idiot. You'd think by now I would have gotten over my issues with men, yet here I was.

"Seriously?" She asks, truly surprised."I was just curious. I mean...well you've only gotten prettier since the last time we've seen each other. I'm surprised that you haven't at least found...I don't know...a fuck buddy, in all this time."

Her compliment had me feeling little uncomfortable, and the mention of a fuck buddy kind of threw me off.

"Maybe she doesn't want a boyfriend V." Leo pipes up with a shrug. She frowns to herself, and looks down.

It wasn't that. I just had absolutely no idea where to start or what to do, though she didn't know that. She didn't know i'd never been on a date, had my first kiss, or a boyfriend. She didn't even know about my past.

"I'm just," I try to find the right word. "not sure what i'm doing, is all. And the whole fuck buddy thing isn't my style."

"Well how about-" Leo begins, but Avery quickly cuts him off.

"No." She says sternly. He rolls his eyes and looks me up and down.

I raise an eyebrow.

"She's definitely his type." Leo says, almost nodding to himself. Avery rolls her eyes.

"He's a dick face." She says.

"But under all of that he's a nice guy. And Luna looks tough enough to whip him into shape." Leo says with a smirk.

"She's my friend. And that means that I don't want her getting hurt, especially if I know that could stop it. So no." She says, and it almost seems like the mini-argument is over, Avery obviously having won, but now i'm curious.

"What's the big deal?" I blink. "Why do I look tough enough to whip whoever it is in shape?"

"I don't know...but something tells me that you have quite a strong personality." Leo says grinning.

"We're talking about his friend Chayton. Who'll be coming by in a few days now. Leo, for some reason beyond me, believes that you two will be a great match. I, on the other hand, believe that Chayton is so below your standards, that he's not even worth giving the time of day." Avery says with a glare pointed to Leo.

"V, believe me when I say that I have a sixth sense about these things. And something is telling me that they'll make a great match. How about giving her an actual chance to decide. You were right. She is your friend, but she's also her own person, so if she likes him, there's nothing either of us could do to stop it." He finishes softly. She nods, and then turns to me.

"Would you like me to tell you about him?" She asks.

I think on it for a moment, then nod. "Sure. Leo has me interested."

"Well he's a liar, a cheater, a total dick, an ass-" Now Leo cuts Avery off.

"What she means to say is that, he tends to act like a dick to hide who he really is. I would know, we practically grew up together. We both lived in the same orphanage growing up, and we've just kept in contact ever since then. We went to the same college, but I haven't seen him in awhile, due to me moving over here." Leo shrugs. "And that's it I guess."

"It totally isn't!" Avery exclaims. "Although I loathe the guy, I will admit that he's...attractive. He's mixed with half native american, and half Italian and french. Not to mention that he has the body of Hercules and the face of a male model. But he's still a dick." She turns to Leo and smiles "Not to mention that he's got nothing on this bad boy."

The fact that he looked like Taylor Lautner, and that he was half French, didn't sit well on me.I wasn't really a fan of Taylor Lautner.

"But it's your choice." Leo says with a smile. "I won't force him on you, I just thought that it'd be a nice idea. And...I could see you two together. Now go on and get changed out of that." He says looking down at Avery. " I don't want that lady to actually believe that you're gonna get that. I already have a few sample dresses for you to choose from Italy." Avery nods and looks over at me.

"Would you mind helping me to get out of this? The buttons are kinda hard to reach." Avery says with a small chuckle.

"Sure," I shrug. "I don't mind at all."

I follow Avery to the back, closing the door behind us. Now that we were alone, I could get a bit more info out of her about Leo's friend. As I began on the buttons, I asked her,"So, why do you despise this guy so much? He can't be that bad."

"Back when Will and I were still together, Leo and I would talk for hours. Just about life and our pasts, and all of that. But when the topic of Chayton came up...well...his past isn't that clean. And I know that nobody's perfect and all of that other bullshit, but this guy is just cruel to girls he dates. There was this one instance where he had been dating this girl for...I think about six months or so, and things are going great, but then they got into this really tiny disagreement that he took to heart. So he leaves for the day, and suddenly the girl gets a video of him fucking her friend, and after that he tells her to get the hell out of his flat. He's a dick."

I let out a low whistle and shake my head. "So what? You don't think can handle him?"

Hell, I wasn't even sure I could handle him. My first shot at dating with this guy seemed like it would end with me falling out of the sky.

"It's not that." She says rolling her eyes "Its just that...well he's just one of those that won't change. He's a bit like how I used to be. Only he's much more sadistic. He loves toying with girls. He loves telling them that he loves them, letting them move into his place, letting them believe that they have a future with him. And then he loves cheating on them for fun, insulting them with everything they've told him, their deepest darkest secrets. He just loves hurting people. Now you see, the only thing that I did was manipulate and lead a bunch of guys on. I'd never cheat. But the only person that seems immune to his reign of terror is Leo, and that's only because they're like brothers."

"Well, the last time I checked, I was a woman, and if he thinks he can get away with pulling this kind of shit with me, i'll chop his balls off." I said matter-of-factly. "No way in hell. I'd love to meet this guys just to knock his ass down a few pegs."

"And that's where things become a bit problematic. Because...well he's really attractive, one. And the other thing is that...well...he's just as much as a sadistic dick, as he is charming. It's infuriating. When I first met him on Skype, I was expecting one of the usual. Like a big, buff jock. But no, he was just so...well charming." She quickly slips on her jeans and sweater. "Thanks a bunch Luna! It was so nice seeing you. I'll email you about the party when I get home."

"Ok, but since you were honest with me about Leo's friend, I should be honest with you," I fiddle with my fingers and bite my lower lip as she turns back to look at me in question, waiting.

"The reason I asked about him, was because I wanted to know more about what I might be getting myself into." I fidgeted more.

"I'm guessing there's more?" she raises an eyebrow and smirks.

"So much more than you realize," I sigh.

We stand in silence for a moment, trying to gather my thoughts. Dammit. Sharing crap like this always made me feel like a giant dork. It also made me seem like a shy school girl.

"Um," I nibble on my lower lip once more. "I've actually never dated, or kissed a guy, had a boyfriend, or sex. I'm actually a virgin."

The look on her face was priceless.

"Huh..." Her mouth is literally in the shape of a perfect O. "I wasn't expecting that..." Suddenly she looks up at me with a determined look on her face.

"Just a quick suggestion. Save all of your firsts for someone that deserves it. It'll mean so much more. I promise." She looks down at her gold G-shock and curses. "I've really gotta get going, but it was seriously wonderful seeing you." She hugs me close before grabbing her things and bolting.

"Oh by the way!" She calls over her shoulder " Don't forget about checking your email tonight!" And then she's out of the store.

I wave at the now closed door, feeling very odd. "Bye."
"What is dead my never die, but rises again, larger and stronger..."

Avery had texted me, asking if I was going. I told her 'Definitely.'

I told Halana that I had gotten invited to it, so she took me to her room, and let me search through her dress collection.

"Oh, Halana! This one's so pretty.." I exclaimed, holding a light teal dress that went to the floor.

It was one shouldered, and the one strap had beautiful jewels on it.

"Well, dear, go try it on!" Halana ushered, smiling at me.

She was happy that I was getting out.

I went into her private bathroom, undressed, than slipped the dress on.

Walking out of the bathroom, I heard my foster mother gasp.

"Honey, you look beautiful!" She said, holding her hands to her face as she gazed at me.

I went to her mirror, and put my hands down, looking at the dress I was wearing.

"What about shoes, Ma?" I asked, smiling.

She loved it when I called her that.

"Oh, right, right." She replied, going to her closet, and pulling out a big box, which was on the shelf behind all of her dresses.

"You never cease to amaze me." I told her, picking up the humongous box, and setting it on her bed.

I opened it, and found a pair of white heels.

"Would these look good?" I asked her.

"Try them on, and you'll see." She said, grinning.

I put the heels on, fastened them, and then admired my outfit in her mirror.

"They're perfect." I whispered, almost wordless.

"Come sit. I'll do your hair and makeup."

After she did my makeup, she got a pretty silver clip, and pushed all of my hair to one side, putting the clip in to keep my hair from going back.

"I'll take you in my work car." Halana whispered to me, as we made our way to the front door.

"But...isn't that against the rules?" I asked, looking at her as she ushered me to get into the small ford focus.

"Rules suck. That's why I don't follow them. Plus, it's a special night for you. You shouldn't have to walk there."

I laughed quietly, and got in.

We pulled up to a store, and I looked at her. "What're we doing here?"

"I'm out of tea," She said casually. "Be a dear, and go get a gallon? They have the best here."

She handed me a ten, and I climbed out.

I shivered. It was so cold.

Walking in, I nodded at the cashier as she greeted me, and went to the liquid section.

"Tea..tea..where's the tea? Oh, there it is.." I said to myself.

Knowing Halana, she would drink the tea in about two days, so I got her two gallons, just because.

As I carried my phone, the money, and the small basket with the tea, I walked towards the cashier. The line was so long!

When I was almost to the line, I fell to the ground, as somebody crashed into me, knocking everything out of my hands.

Perfect.

I sat up in a sitting position, and got all of my things. I put my money, phone, and the tea in the basket.

I tried standing up, but it was impossible in this dress.

Looking at the person, which was a guy, I tensed up. He was good looking.

I watched him stand up, and walk over to me, bending down, and reaching his hand out for me to take.

Taking his hand, he helped me up.

He kept staring at me.

I tried avoiding making eye contact.

"I'm really sorry, I wasn't looking." He said.

I think he smiled.

I looked up at him, then back at the ground at my basket.

"It's alright, just next time, please watch where you're going." I said as casual as I could, and gently pulled my hand away.

"I apologized." I heard him say.

"Right.." I whispered, and looked towards the window.

"Whatever, I'm being nice." He was still looking at me. "Look, as an apology, how about I take you out for coffee?"

Nobody had ever asked me to do anything with them.

I looked up at him, me head going to his chin.

"I...I...um...s-sure." I stuttered, nervous.

Why did I have to be so shy? He probably thought I was a freak by now.

"Great!" He exclaimed. His eyes were searching my face. "Oh, here. Give me your number." He handed me his phone.

I scratched my neck nervously, and took his phone, typing my number in.

"Let me give you mine." He said, taking his phone and putting it in his pocket.

I nodded, bent over, and took my phone out of my basket.

He took my phone, and I watched him as he typed numbers in, then handed it back to me.

I took my phone, then grabbed the basket.

"I'll text you...alright?" He was looking at me with an intense look. "You look like you have somewhere to be."

I nodded, and hid my blush from him the best I could.

Once he walked away, I let out a shaky breathe.

It was about ten minutes before I got to check out.

As I walked out of the store, I carried the gallons of tea in one hand, and my phone and the left over money in the other, shaking from the cold.

I got in the ford focus, and looked at Halana, as she took the money, and set the tea in the back.

"Hun, why're you blushing?" She asked, her eyebrow arched.

"No reason. The cold." I lied.

"Okay then.." She whispered to herself.

We backed out of the parking lot, and headed towards the party.

When we arrived at the party, she had given me a twenty, and said it was for food, and a taxi.

We said our goodbyes, and I watched as she drove off.

I sighed, and looked at all the people.

I unlocked my phone, and texted Avery.

'Hey! I'm here.' I said.

I didn't go anywhere. I just waited for her to tell me where to go.

'Great! I'll be there in a bit.' She replied.

Jasmine Bradley Urbaniak

I was wearing one of my Bradley dresses. It was for the occasion and, well, I never really wore it as Bradley. The reason I bought this dress was for a New Year's party at Miranda Cosgrove's house. I decided that Avery Piest was more important much a much more better person than she ever was, so I'd go to Avery's. And plus, Avery was my best friend. Now this dress, this beautiful dress had a real purpose.

It was a high-low dress which was in a dark blue velvet color. The sleeves were three-quarter length and the neck line was a half circle, just above my bust. There was a satin overlap at the middle of my dress, reaching the end of the high part in the front. It was a see-through fabric which was sparkly. And the low part swooped around and can cover the front because it over lapped. I had my hair in mermaid waves, even though they were short, it still worked. My makeup was soft and natural, but with a punch of black eye shadow with some glitter.

I was standing in Avery's room, nervous. Every time I went anywhere, I was afraid. And it was only because I didn't wanna get caught being... Bradley. I just got caught with Avery which wasn't so bad because I wanted her to find out anyway. But I didn't need anyone else to find out. There was a possibility I could get so drunk that I could yell, 'Hey! I'm BRADLEY, BITCHES!' and I didn't need that. It's like, I couldn't do anything without being worried about exploding. I couldn't let loose without being afraid someone would know. But, I could control it, I could be myself and expect no one to find out. I mean, look at me. I look nothing like her. I mean, I do... obviously. But there was also something that said I was not celebrity, singer material. It was unbelievable and people would just call me her doppelganger. So, I should stop being scared. I think I'm only scared cause I did get caught. Only because Avery knew me, so it was easy for her. Someone else won't know. No one will know because I can do this.

Jesus. It sounds like I've never been out before.

"Aye, Jas..." it was Avery. "You ready?"

I looked at myself in her full length mirror. Everything said Jasmine, but my mind was running Bradley. And I didn't know why. Was this because I'd finally admit it? Or was it because I was so recently caught? Or maybe because... I was nervous. I didn't know anyone here except Avery. I would be uncomfortable. I could manage, just channel Bradley, not too much, but channel enough to make the crowd love you.

Just when I said don't think about Bradley. I sound like a crazy woman.

"Yeah, I'm coming out." I said, still staring at myself.

Taking a deep breath, I got out of the room and came up to a smiling Avery. We both went downstairs and joined the party.

***

With a drink in my hand, I'd managed to just walk around the party and smiled at everyone who smiled at me. Of course, here it came again. I felt really uncomfortable. But this was for Avery. I was here for her, so it didn't matter how I felt. The thing was, if I felt like this for ten more minutes, I'd leave and have my beautiful dress wasted.

As a solid, Avery made sure no Bradley songs would play. That was really nice of her. So considerate. She really wanted me to be at this party, so I told her I'd come if she made sure none of my songs showed up. I loved my music, but I didn't need to hear it when I was anxious already.

I took a sip of my drink, just lemonade I poured myself from the bar. Avery was lucky enough to find a restaurant that opened it's arms to her. The opened up the outside as well, it was in the center of buildings all around, so when you walked in the back, you had buildings all around you. It was pretty though. And then the front was open as the city center, opening up to the whole place. Anyone could literally join, especially since it was New Year's Eve. It reminded me of the time I was In Poland, they had a city center where I lived In Krakow. Everyone gathered around there, just like here.

"Hey," someone said from behind me. I turned on my heel, feeling my heart jump to my throat. He was a handsome one.

Emmett

I can't shake the feeling that this Jane is important. She doesn't really act like it, though, despite her reoccurring visits. She's cast down within herself, the type of girl who hangs her shoulders and turns down her smile as a regular habit. Would I try to rescue her from herself? I don't know. I don't even know if that's the sort of person I am.

I breathe out, trying to rid myself of this aching headache. "Thanks, Jane. I appreciate it."

"Not a problem."

Neither of us say anything. I don't really know what to say; she knows me, but I don't know her. "I want you to know that I can't really remember anything. It's not just you. It's all my friends, really. Hell, it's everything! I could hardly remember my own middle name before Lace reminded me!"

She smiles, a small smile. The sadness does not disappear from her eyes. "I know, Emmett." She tips her head to the side. "What is your middle name, anyway. I don't think we ever really talked about that kind of stuff."

I'd laugh, but it hurts my ribs. "Ahote. It means 'restless one' in Hopi, my Mom's Native tribe. There's a story behind it, but its pretty embarrassing."

"I know you pretty well, even if you don't remember it. I'd like to know the story."

I blush, but find myself believing her. "It's a tradition in my family, as part of our roots, despite the cheesiness, to be given our middle names when we're ten by a medicine man. Now, you probably know me, and I'm a geeky kid at ten. This Native American master old guy comes out of his smoking tent calling me 'Ahote'. Restless one. Me!" I laugh, and it stitches up my side. "He told me it had less with me, and more to do with the ones I'll love. It was pretty ridiculous, but there was nothing could do about it."

Jane doesn't smile, looking off instead to the wall. I think there must be something in her eye, the way they water. "It's a nice story, Emm."

I look long and hard at her, thinking, neither of us bothering to talk. "We must have been pretty great friends, weren't we?"

She does not seem startled at the way I have flipped the subject. "Yeah. We were."

"Are." I correct the both of us, and she wipes the water from her eyes and smiles.

"Are."

"My Mother brought me The Day Of The Doctor. I haven't seen it yet, have you? If you could make the time, maybe we could watch it together."

Jane paused, looking sad. Maybe I had watched it. I forget, and since I forget, could I have watched it with her? "There's a party or something tonight, but I don't want to go. Still, I don't know..."

"Doctor Who always makes things better."

"Fine!" She huffs, but I can tell she's smiling under her faux anger. She crosses her legs under her in her chair, after she pops the DVD in.

I set my tray aside, and we sing the theme song together.

For one precious moment, she is the most important girl in the universe.

Emmett's being all like 'she's my friend, because there's no way I could have possibly had a girlfriend!'
I have loved the words and I have hated them. I only hope I have made them right.

Jane Wills

He was convinced we were just really good friends. Was I just that unattractive? Uninteresting? Or did he not believe the fact that he could actually get a girlfriend? I couldn't blame him. But I needed him.

What was funny was that he thought I was a Tennant girl. I may love David Tennant and all, but I was all Smith. That's what we shared, being Matt Smith's fans. And as we watched, I had the privilege to forget we were going through this horrible thing together and that everything in this moment was okay. I had him, he had me. That's all that matters.

Oh, and we had Doctor Who.

We've seen The Day of The Doctor about five times. It was our drug for the cold nights of November. Just us cuddling up together and The Doctors running around through time and space.

The credits came up and I suddenly realized that we were in this world. The world I really did not want to exist in because of Emmett's memory loss. He didn't remember a lot. And it sucked. He forgot Kristin, Oliver, and me. Jeez, it was depressing. I bet it was ten times worse for him. Him being in the state that he didn't remember something he should have probably drove him crazy. If I were him, I'd probably kill myself.

"Man, that was an amazing episode!" Emmett smiled, his eyes twinkling from joy.

"Yeah, I know." I managed a smile.

He looked over at me, noticing that I wasn't showing much excitement.

"How many times have we seen this?" he asked, and his smile fell because he looked at me.

"Now six," I gave him a soft smile, trying to get him to be happy again.

"Six times, and I don't remember?! This was an episode you couldn't forget!"

I ran my hand through my hair, pulling at the ends. Then, I took an elastic and threw my hair up on top of my head, tying it up in a bun. Once I finished, I looked back over and Emmett and caught him looking at me which made my breathing stop for a second. Our eyes caught and my, I freaking could hear my heart beating, that's how loud it was.

He then looked away and faced the television, swallowing loudly. A tension rose between us as I stood up, picking up my coat and purse form the couch.

"Obviously, you could." I joked. "I'm gonna go to that party. I have to take care of something." I finally managed to throw on my coat and zip up, so I faced him. "Emmett, I'll see you later."

"See you Jane," he said with a weak smile.

But before I could walk away, I felt every urge to do something. So, I walked up to his bed and leaned down to his face, kissing his cheeks softly. Tingles of electricity bounced off my lips as I pulled away, exhilarated by him. He caught aback, surprised. I walked back out the room.

***

It was loud and uncomfortable. I always felt like parties were not my thing, that's why Emmett and I barely went to any. But I was invited, by Oliver and Kristin. And I should be here. So I am.

People were gathered not only in the restaurant, but also outside. The place was elegant yet very young adult. The furnishing was minimalist, and so was everything else. In shades of black, grey, brown, and white, the restaurant had straight edges and metal details. So, what I wore did sort of match the environment.

What I happened to throw on was a knee length dress that was a shade of dark grey, it was a skater dress. So the bottom was circle type and the top covered up to my collar bones. It was pretty and worked with my messy bun.

So, I walked around the party with a cup of iced tea as I looked for a familiar face. Well, a familiar face that will like my familiar face. And that's when I found Kristin sitting on a black couch hugging Oliver. They were talking intimately to each other which made me unsure of going up to them. But then Kristin turned her head, as if feeling that I was there. Once she saw me, she smiled widely and scurried out of Oliver's arms, running into mine. I pulled her close, keeping her warmth around me. I needed my best friend right now.

"Jeez Jane," she huffed into my hair. "Don't disappear like that again."

"I'm sorry Kristin. I am so, so sorry."

She pulled away without getting her arms off of me. We just looked at each other and I noticed something passing her eyes. She knew something.

"What happened Kristin?" I asked her.

"I heard about Emmett." she replied, biting her bottom lip.

"Oh," I sighed, looking away for a moment. "It's okay... he'll be... okay."

The music suddenly died down for a moment and then switched tracks, starting to play a new mix. And now the music got loud again, blaring at our ears. I cringed, pulling away from Kristin and smiling.

"Come here, sit with us." she changed the topic with a smile.

"I gotta do something. I'll be back." I said.

With a nod, she walked back to Oliver and got back into that safe hug with him. I gave him a wave as he gave me a nod. I walked away, headed to where the stage is supposedly placed. A DJ was playing with the computer, so I walked up to him and whispered something into his ear. He then nodded and handed me a microphone, making my heart race.

It was a daring, brave move. But I was as stage fright as anyone here. So, you couldn't blame me.

The DJ lowered the volume of the music and everyone turned to face the stage, staring at me. I swallowed loudly and got the microphone closer to my mouth, feeling the sweat prickling on my body. I even felt tears pushing my eyes to escape. I wasn't ready. I was scared. I was having stage fright.

"Hello everyone." I started, trying to get comfortable. I would soon. "If you don't know me, which I highly doubt it, I'm Jane Wills."

Some people walked closer to the stage, eager at me figure.

"I would like to say a few words. I know, it's Avery and Leo's time, but this is for Avery. And for anyone out there who believe, 'Oh, she's apologizing!', I am not." Yes, I was comfortable, finally. "I wanted to reflect on the past year. When I came to Harmony, I was a different girl. I knew no one, so no one knew me. I could start anew. So, I tried. But then I got drunk and had sex. Problem was, this guy was Avery's boyfriend." a pause. "I didn't know he was her boyfriend. I didn't even know Avery. So, you can't entirely blame me for ruining that relationship. I guess I came to show it was supposed to end? I don't know. I just wanted sex, and I got it. Who it was, I didn't care!"

Some people started to actually listen to what I was saying. I cleared my throat and put on a smile, ready to continue.

"But then she ended up being with William Franco. He's... he's a great guy." I looked at the floor of the stage, swallowing hard. It was a plastic that had no creases, a perfect set of plastic stage. "So, I helped her find someone better? I don't know. But then someone will say, 'Hey, you kissed Will! You ruined that too but this time you knew about it!'. I'll admit, I feel like I'm a curse to Avery. I really do, and I believe I really am. You can't blame me for the sex with Allen because that was unknown, you could blame me though for kissing Will. But the thing was, what we did was out of some effect. We don't have feelings for each other, we never did." my voice was steady as I spoke.

Kristin. I saw her staring at me with Oliver hugging her from behind. I was scared about her. I didn't want to lose my best friend. But she looked fine, she was just listening which I guess could be safe. For now.

"He needed someone, and I was there. It felt safe. Avery was there for him when he was in the hospital. Bad news sweetie, he won't be good right after he leaves the hospital! He will have difficulty adjusting. And he has been having problems. I just caught him at the wrong place at the wrong time, and so, being me, I felt the need to try to help him. You see, I wasn't there at the hospital waiting for him, I was there when he actually needed someone. And that isn't easy, I don't want to be that girl. I already have..." and some tears escaped my eyes as I remembered Emmett. "I have someone that needs me. I always have. But Will needed someone, so I was there. You can't blame me for that. You don't realize this Avery, but you only think about yourself."

The crowd got silent as I caught everyone's attention now. Way to steal the spotlight, huh?

"And the sad part is, Will is still in love with you. He can't get over you. But, you don't care, cause he's not here. You only ever think about how you're hurt. Have you ever thought about how someone else is hurt? Or do you think about how someone could be happy? Just because you're in a crisis doesn't mean the world will stop for you. The world does not revolve around Avery Piest. There are other people here and you better realize that not everyone will be made to fit your real world. Will didn't fit it because he was adjusting to his own world. You could've still had him if it weren't for you being so self-centered." I took a deep breath. "And I'm sorry that you don't see that."

I gave the microphone back and left the building, finding my way back to the hospital. Emmett deserves to have me for New Years Eve.

Avery

"Ya know..." I begin saying to Leo as we slowly walk down the expensively decorated hallway to the party. "What if they feel that this is all rushed. I mean-" Leo cuts me off.

"They won't. What they're going to see is that we love each other. And that things are moving at their own pace. And even if they don't see it...who gives a shit?" He says, looking down at me with a smirk.

In his eyes, I can see myself reflected. My golden-bronze curls piled onto my head, and held together by the gold crown I bought at a Tiffanys earlier today. I can see my big green eyes staring back at me in fear and joy. He pecks me on the lips quickly and puts his arm around my waist. We continue walking to the party.

"It really sucks that I'm so late. I mean, what if it sends a bad impression? " I say, slight pouting my bottom lip.

Leo rolls his eyes and squeezes my side.

"Okay. Repeat after me. I, Avery Piest, will not ever, under any pretenses, give a shit about what other people think of my relationship to the wonderful, sexy, piece of hunk of a fiancé I'm going to marry."

I roll my eyes at him and pinch his shoulder. He leans down and nibbles my neck, sending shivers down my back. I pull away and look around quickly just to spot a ladies bathroom.

"I've gotta...umm...use the bathroom. I'll meet you at the party in a few." He nods and pecks my cheek before he walks off.

I scamper into the bathroom, my head feeling pretty light. When I get in there, its luckily empty. Its one of those really posh and intricately designed bathrooms, one of those that are continuously trying to shove their money in your face. It's all adorned and designed in gold so I almost look like a decoration when I check myself out in the mirror. My gold gucci gown clings to my skin, not particularly tightly, but to the average person, it looks like it was practically poured onto me. Its long and elegant, yet made sexy because of the long slit , running from my caramel thigh to where it ends in what looks like a golden pool at my feet. The sleeves are golden-transparent and adorned with swarvosky crystals starting from my shoulders down to my wrist, and the neckline is slightly plunging, showing my chest just enough with the halter like bodice. Because of all of the crystals adorning the dress, I decided on a pair of simple diamond stud earrings I spin in the mirror to check to see if I look good. My hair bounces in its elegant updo, and my painted red lips curl into a smile.

"I'm getting married!" I whisper to myself excitedly when finished spinning.

I check my makeup in the mirror quickly, assuring myself that the professional who did it would rather drop dead than send me out looking like a fool. As I filed out of the bathroom, the sound of my god stillettos clicking against the marble floors calmed me until I heard the low chatter of voices, and the beautiful strings of the harpist that Kristin managed to get.

"There she is!" My father boomed from the back of the large ballroom, his sharp black and red suit, matching nicely to my mothers blood red, silky ball gown.

As soon as he said it, an applause ran through the crowd and I felt myself bushing like crazy under their scrutinizing of me. But suddenly Leo is there in his black suit and gold tie (matching my outfit wonderfully, by the way), with a huge smile on his face as we stare watch the massive crowd. Holy shit, someones offering me a microphone. Oh god, I think that i'm gonna puke. I take a deep breath, surprised with myself. I usually thrive under scrutiny. Attention has never made me blush. What the hell is going on with me?

"Thank you all for coming." I say, after taking the microphone, my tinkling voice void of any embarrassment or shyness to my surprise. "I invited you all here today to introduce you to my wonderful husband. We have both made the decision to not get married until i'm actually 18, but at the moment I am engaged. Many of you are friends and family, some have flown a long way to get here, others just took a train. But I appreciate you all being here. You guys have no idea how much this means to me. I'm so happy to be spending the new year with you all."

I feel a tear sliding down my face and before I can even react to it , Leo has quickly pulled out a handkerchief and has wiped it from my face. Another applause rings out and then the chatter returns, and the harpist begins a new set.

"Oh that was simply wonderful Avey!" Kristin says, jumping into my arms, her own eyes a tad red. I kiss her on the cheek.

"How did you get a reservation The Pierre though?" I ask incredulously.

"Just pulled a few strings." She says with a wink.

"Five more minutes everyone." Someone says over the microphone.

"I've gotta make my rounds. Come on Lee-Lee." I say grabbing his hand. I manage to say hello to about half of the party, before we're down to twenty seconds.

"Leo...I have something to tell you." I say quietly, once we've made ourselves to the center and everyone begins counting down. He looks down at me with a bright smile.

"What is it, my love?" He asks, putting his arm around my waist and pulling me to him closely.

"I think that i'm pregnant." I say quickly, relief forming in my chest so quickly after saying it.

He doesn't pull away. He doesn't push me away. He looks down at me with a face so full of love and amazement it takes my breath away.

"Thats the best new years gift i've ever received." He says, and then hits my lips with everything he has as everyone calls out happy new years. And fuck me if I sound corny but, right then at that exact moment, I know that i've found my soulmate, as I kiss him back.

Harley Mae Turner

I listened to the one girl, Jane, as she talked about something that sounded important, but I didn't know anything about it.

Avery came to the stage, and I admired her and her fiancée. They were adorable together.

I had a new message.

"Where are you??" Avery had asked.

I didn't know she texted me.

"By the front of the restaurant." I replied.

Oops.

Pushing my hair out of my eyes, I looked around, and noticed Avery walking up to me.

"Where've you been, girl? You look great, by the way." She said/asked.

I smiled. "As if. You look way better. Oh, I was waiting for you, but I got bored, walked around."

She shook her head. "Make any new friends?"

I shook my head, and looked down at my phone.

'One new message', it read.

Another?

Who could possibly be texting me?

I unlocked it, and opened the message.

The one guy from earlier.

I realized that I didn't know his name.

Looking at the number her left, I noticed that he had put in his name.

'William.'

I read the message.

'Hey! Happy New Years! When am I taking you out?'

I bit my bottom lip.

'Happy New Years! Tomorrow work?' I asked.

Avery was looking at me.

"Who're you texting, girly?"

I shrugged, and laughed.

"Hey, look, I'm gonna go find my hubby. I'll find you later. Make some friends!" She called behind her, walking into the crowd of people.

I waved as she walked away, then looked back at my phone.

'Sounds like a date.' He said.

I chuckled, and blushed.

'It sounds like you're taking me out for apology coffee.'

I looked up, and looked at all the people. The crowd was huge.

My phone vibrated.

'Haha. Do you want me to pick you up, or..?'

I scratched my head.

'No, I can get my own ride.'

Letting out a shaky breath, I walked out into the crowd.
