I say betrayal is your most likely chance of being the bad guy, possibly stepped down from his throne to save his own life. But never told the other lords of the coming danger.

I was thinking maybe when your character is pretending to be good to gain our trust you convince me to join you and also it could be as loyal said and I decided to betray the others to save my own life, but ended up dying anyway, thus resulting in my character's rebirth.

Dakushau, my character was not alive before the killing of all the lords. It was a different person who did not (or did s/he?) come back, and she came back in his/her place.

About the stepping down, could another, maybe my character's boss, be the one who persuaded you to step down? Maybe, if my character mentions him/her, your character could have some sort of a flicker of a memory and be more persuaded to join me.

I think it would be easier if the stormlord just turned evil, rather then going this roundabout way. Keep in mind they've been reborn, their personalities are entirely different, so at least one character doing an about face would be okay.

And as I've earlier stated lightning is only one aspect of the stormlords power. Other abilities include the power to generate pure light/energy, the power to see the truth, to discern peoples inherent characters, etc...

one question is the world based in a modern era? or in the future/past? or is it just some fantasy world that has nothing to do with reality?

Its a fantasy world, the era is roughly renaissance however it does have some modern conveniences. Electricity, modern plumbing, that kind of thing. Most of them are holdovers from the era when the Lords ruled and therefore are beginning to fall into disrepair. Also the SB has started as of this afternoon
