Welcome to Karalia, a land nearly destroyed by magic, fear, and.... betrayal.

Plot: There is something amiss in Karalia, rumours of a corrupt government and fading magic; secrets and betrayal, and something far more sinister. The people are worried; their leaders appear concerned, and yet the magic still fades, taking with it the magical creatures that live within Karalia’s borders. And even worse? The dragons are fading as well, faster than the other magic-fed beings.

And the rumours are only spreading faster; What is causing this? And why? Fear is setting in, and as those responsible for the fading magic draw closer, the ninja clans begin to take notice. They listen, they watch, and they wait, biding their them. There is a great need to do something, and even the Karalian Royal Family have noticed...things by now. The Queen is worried, yet her adviser insists all is fine.

What does the future hold for a kingdom on the brink of destruction?

Important Information;

Kingdoms:

Spoiler
Melnar is very dry; dusty, cracked earth. Hot during the day, cold at night. Very little in the way of decent land--especially for farming, etc. Several oases, the largest few being cities. The largest being Melnar’s capital. Few people outside of cities, towns or villages on an Oasis. Warm most of the time, freezing cold, including snow, during harsh winters. Borders the sea on one side, to the west.

Oulam - Capital of Melnar.
Aldawen - The largest, most dangerous City-Port. Owned by the worst of the worst.
Øystein - A village in the south of Melnar.
Sireli - Large town, almost a city, sits on the Oasis known as Sireli, or the “lovely one”. Rules itself.

Esharia is a little wetter than Melnar; some swampland, grasslands, forest, decent farmland. Warm during the days when it’s not raining and a little cooler at night, no snow in winter--unless one is in the mountains further inland. Mostly fertile land, some drier areas, where Esharia borders the desert, and lots of villages and people, even larger towns and cities. Cities tend to border on rivers or lakes, or the coast. Borders the sea to the west.

Lieta - Capital City of Esharia.
Draíochta - A major city of Esharia.
Razhar - A Southern town, known for its wine and its women.

Karalia is somewhere between Dry and Wet; warm to hot during the day, and the summer months, cold during the day, and even colder at night, or cold to the point of snow, in the winter months. Lots of fertile land, plenty of lakes and rivers, and drinkable water. Borders the sea on three sides with plenty of ports. Mountains to the north, that border the ones in Esharia, a neighbouring country; swamplands that also border Esharia’s swamplands. A forest that stretches all the way to the Melnarian border. Capital city of Raj Nasrin is on the coast--the largest port, in fact, which is about as far south as you can get.

Raj Nasrin- Capital of Karalia.
Raj Svietu - A City/School of Magic.
Raj Mahija - A City/School of Magic.
Raj Davoli - A City-Port, the largest, other than Nasrin.
Ahniu - A village to the east of Nasrin.

(Karalians refer to their cities by name, minus the “Raj”.)

Races/People:

Spoiler
There are very few races other than human in Karalia and it’s two neighbours, and those include Sorcerers or Sorceresses and perhaps a god or goddess. The majority of those in Karalia and the surrounding kingdoms are human and have little to no magical powers, if any.

-Elves: Elves are creatures of nature and can live for hundreds, even thousands, of years. Their powers relate to nature and the elements. They highly dislike anything too advanced and tend to avoid cities, except for the few who live in Elvish cities. Elves are rarely seen away from the forests and are almost unheard of in Karalia and it’s neighbours.

-Sorcerers And Sorceresses/Mages: Sorcerers--or mages, as they’re sometimes known--are an interesting sub-race of humans. These are humans born with magic and rarely have any of the aspects of any other race in Karalia and the surrounding kingdoms. They are strictly human and even if they chose to reproduce with any other race, their children will be born with magic. They may have trace characteristics of the other races, but every time they will be born with Sorcerer magic, which is anything from transformation (not to be confused with shape-shifting) to telekinesis. They also can live up to three centuries, sometimes more and are taught from an early age to harness their magic, lest they lose control of it.

-Dragons: Dragons are giant winged creatures with tough scales covering their hides. They can breathe fire, water, lightning, or any one of the other elements, including spirit. Dragons are dangerous creatures. They thrive on death and destruction, and on chaos--but only when enraged. A calm dragon is wild and dangerous, yet kind, thriving on peace and life, and on order. It's rare for one to be semi-tamed, and even rarer for someone from any race to form a bond with one and ride it, though it has happened before. Once or twice.

Dragons are purely wild spirits, almost untamable, but they do possess great Wisdom and Intelligence. As an ally, they are a formidable force.

-Humans: Humans can be found throughout Karalia and the surrounding kingdoms and have little to no magic. Any magic they do have is limited and uncontrolled. Humans make wonderful soldiers, though.

Ranks:

Spoiler
There are many ranks in the realm of Karalia and the surrounding kingdoms, including Royalty, thief, assassin and orphan, among others.They are as diverse as the colour of one’s skin, hair or eyes. Many of those in Karalia or its neighbours are in the poorer categories--being pickpockets and thieves, beggars and orphans.

-Royalty: Royalty are humans who have been born into power, into royalty. Or those who have taken it. Princes, Princesses, Kings, Queens, Lords and Ladies; someone who rules over others. Normally, they are human...although you sometimes find a Sorcerer claiming the title of king or a Goddess parading around as queen.

-Soldiers & Royal Guards: Soldiers and Royal Guards are humans who have signed themselves into the King's keeping. They are either a Soldier (of any rank) or a Royal Guard and are expert fighters, tending to be older (especially if a General or high-ranking Guard) and loyal to Karalia and its King or one of the neighbouring and its ruler.

-Ninjas: Those who study the art of the Ninja. They are highly secretive and highly skilled, and can be of any race, rank or gender. Ninjas are dedicated to their art, and their ‘clan’, or family; each clan or family tends to study a specific art, which includes poison, the different fighting styles, and higher, more specific arts, such as assassination.

-Commoners: Those who have no royal blood. Humans who are born to those without a title. They are the bulk of the human populace, running shops and markets, and making food and wine for others. They are usually content with their lives.

-The Poor: Thieves and pickpockets, beggars and orphans, assassins, slaves and slave traders. The poor are usually the scum of the social order, those who have killed for money, stolen one time too many or dealt in the trading of others as slaves, people with no control or freedom over their own lives. Or even those who no longer have a family. These are the desperate and the lost, the ones who having nothing left to lose. They are the ones who have taken over a ruin and turned it into a haven.

Gender: Male
Race: Human
Rank Palace Guard/Aspen's Guardian

Nephil's Sword: Masamune
Masamune_2_by_Final_23.jpg (59.79 KiB) Viewed 2131 times

Personality: Nephil is the kind of guy who enjoys the simple things in life, he's at the peak of his youth and he knows it. Being in the military has taught him his mortality and has since wised up to it, he prefers to spend his time in peace, either by reading or watching over Aspen. But when duty calls he gets serious, Nephil has a no nonsense attitude when it comes to the battlefield always looking for the most reasonable way to end a conflict without the loss of life. But if he truly has to, he will fight with his most prized possession Masamune, which was passed on to him by his now deceased master, Master Roku.

Flaws/Weaknesses: His greatest weaknesses has to be his emotions and his duties, he's not disloyal, but if there was a situation where both the Kingdom and Aspen was in danger, he would most certainly be torn on what to do when it comes to his charges.

Power/s: None

History: Nephil used to be a kid born in born in poverty his mother and father didn't have much money, both had to work two jobs at once. Nephil as a kid spent most of his time with other kids in the neighborhood kids, the only problem was, Nephil had a bully problem, he was pushed around constantly by other kids. It wasn't until a man by the name of Roku took Nephil on as a trainee for no payment what's so ever.

Nephil spent the next years of his life training under his master, he excelled at his training, and stayed dedicated to his training. Nephil traveled the world with Master Roku, he visited many placed in the world, but eventually came back home to where he was born. When Nephil returned home, he was fully trained and just before completing his training, his Master was at the end of his days when they returned home, his Master grew unable to wield his sword Masamune. On his Master's death bed, Nephil's Master passed on Masamune, his Master's most prized possession, to Nephil.

A year passed and Nephil had stayed in the Kingdom to enjoy life and live, he started out by doing simple jobs around the Kingdom, but then came a chance meeting, someone no one saw coming. Young Princess Aspen, had some knights around her that were attacked by a Ninja, the knights were each easily defeated, Nephil being the upstanding citizen at the time, stepped in to help, having gotten a surprise strike, swung and killed the Ninja in a single strike. Nephil's reward for saving the Princess? The Queen had Nephil become her guardian, Nephil didn't mind, the entire incident was entirely chance and unlikely to happen again. But he did enjoy having a finer life in the castle.

Present Day: Nephil serves his position as Aspen's Guardian, but as of late, he has been hiding a deep sadness in his eyes. Few have seen this deep sadness in his eyes, but none so far have pushed to ask him why he's sad.

Up For Love? Nay

Other: Nephil's Sadness

Name: Amara "The Raven Priestess" Zamero
Age: 29
Gender: Female
Race: Human Sorceress
Rank Royal Sorceress
Allegiance: Normally Karalia, but sometimes she'll work for herself.

Appearance: The most notable feature is the Black Crescent on her forehead, which identity's her as a graduated Sorceress from Raj Svietu's School of Magic. she has a heart shaped face, beautiful teal colored eyes, and a cute button nose. Her skin is a nice olive color with long black hair with red tips. Amara doesn't always wear priestess robes, she would normally wear them while inside the castle in Karalia, outside of the castle when near a battle field or travailing, she tends to wears men clothes. Loose trousers and shirts, normally tying her hair back in a pony tail. But she always keeps two golden bracelets that help channel her magic.

Personality: Amara can be considered cocky, or overly confident in her abilities, she knows she's skilled in the way of magic. Her powerful knowing mind, make her a very good conversation holder, but Amara can easily hold a grudge against anyone. Making herself seem almost hateful, she's the kind of person who you'll never want to cross twice in a single day or repeatedly cross. But finally, she's notoriously stone faced, but makes very subtle movements in which could hint to what's wrong with her, or what she's thinking.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Because of her over confidence, she's quick to jump at the first chance to prove her abilities, to show off just how powerful and prove the hours she's studied magic haven't gone to waste. As stated before, she can easily hold a grudge, she mainly holds a grudge against those who try to forsake the ways of magic. Also, she's very wrathful, you cross her just once and you'll regret it, her abilities will prove as so.

Power/s: Being a sorceress, she's very skilled at what she can do, skilled in the ways of defensive magic, healing, supportive, and familiars, most notably, a raven. (Hence her nickname.) She's a Master when it comes to Wind and Water Magic, she knows a few summoning spells to summon servants to protect her, when not using her magic, she learned how to use a rapier, though she's not perfect with it, she knows the basics of how to use it.

History:[/b] Amara was born into a family of Magic, everyone in her family knew some form of magic or another. Amara herself was a natural when it came to the uses of Water and Wind, mainly because those were the elements that her parents were most proficient in. She has an impossibly hard time with Fire and Earth due to this, she was brought to Raj Svietu so Amara could learn to harness the magic she was born with.

Much later on when Amara was eighteen she was at the top of her class when it came to magic, and was considered the most powerful student in the school at the time. Also at the time, the Queen of Karalin had been attending Graduation Ceremony, the Graduation Ceremony was major all around for magic users, what was it? to show everything you learned that you knew and ace's you secretly learned. Amara did exactly that, she showed everything, used everything, even her newest magic, assembling her body though the birds she used as familiars, Ravens. But this was not the end of this, she made clones out of Water, Wind, and Ravens. Then preformed a summoning spell in which she summoned a suit of armor that became possessed with a spirit and bound to her will. This impressed the Queen, using three clones and then summoning a possessed suit of armor earned Amara the posistion of the dying Royal Mage in the Queen's Court.

Present Day: Amara has continued studies in the Queen's Castle constantly building her knowledge of magic, but she's caught on that Magic is slowly disappearing from the land, and thus has become conservative in order to preserve magic. But she wishes to find out what is causing magic to disappearing from the land, she has yet to look into it.

Up For Love?Uhhhh sure, why not, Bisexual with a female lean

Other: See what I've Become

Prince:
Name: Evaric “Ev” / “Aric” Karayan.
Age: 21.
Gender: Male.
Race: Human.
Rank Prince.
Allegiance: Karalia, his family, himself.

Appearance: Evaric’s hair is somewhere between the faded pink colour of his sister's hair and a more traditional white-blonde (inherited from their late father) with dark grey-blue, stormy eyes (also from his father), and lightly tanned skin. One can hardly tell that there's a slight pink-ish hint to hair that just looks mostly nearly-white. He’s not really tall, but he’s not short either, standing at about 5’9. Nor is he as small or danity as his sister; he’s definitely a man, and it’s not wise to call him anything else. Evaric likes to wear pale colours, and mostly wears a suit in the style of Karalia’s military, complete with various medals, etc. When not in his suits, he tries to blend in with the less-than-rich by wear what he feels comfortable in and typically dresses like a low-ranking soldier or a ranger; weapons and hooded cloak included.
Spoiler
Image

Personality: Evaric is far less helpless than his sister, appearing more like the soldier his parents asked him to be. And he sometimes takes advantage of that, dressing poorly and hanging out with the men who guard him, and his family--not to mention the palace. He worries a lot, though--mostly about his sister. He fears the dragon could pose a problem, and he’s seen that happen on a few occasions. Evaric is also just as confident as his sister, and often argues with the soldiers about her views, sometimes siding with her if he also sees how it would improve something. And, like his sister, he’s also intelligent, but he sometimes lacks that intelligence if someone he cares for is in danger. Act first, ask question later; it’s gotten him into trouble on several occasions. Especially with his mother, her advisor, the general/s and the palace guard.

He likes everything to do with life and living; the kingdom’s beauty, the plants and animals, the mountains, the rivers and lakes, the sea and even the swamplands have captured his eye as surely as the blacksmith’s pretty daughter, just down the street from the palace. He loves living; night, day, sunrise or sunset. It doesn’t bother him, he loves it all and rarely dislikes something, unless it’s death and destruction, pain and misery; he hates to see his people in poor health and even poorer standards of living. It causes him almost physical pain, and he often wishes he knew how to help, but every single time he tries, his mother’s advisor steps in to block his attempts. You could say he has every reason to be wary of the man/woman.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Evaric does have a huge flaw (or is that several flaws?), though; he doesn’t know when to stop, or shut up. He eavesdrops, he sneaks out, he pretends to be someone he isn’t, and he has a huge suspicion that his mother’s advisor isn’t exactly what he says he is. All-round, he’s a bit of a troublemaker, but he’s not arrogant, and he’s wary of who he can and can’t trust. Evaric’s sister would be one of his biggest weaknesses; he cares for her very much, and let’s just say that if she were to be threatened, Evaric might just do anything to keep her safe.

Power/s: N/A.

History: Much like his sister, Evaric grew up in a life that was privileged and rarely wanted for anything. He spent his early years as an only child, trained as a soldier, taught to read and write, to think for himself, and groomed to be king. And then Aspen was born, and he realised that he needed to be strong, to be a protector; to be his little sister’s big brother. He let her play with him when she was old enough. At first, it was giving her toys and letting her pull his hair, but then it became teaching her how to fight, how to handle a weapon (which their mother highly disapproved of and delighted their father, even though he mostly saw the humour in it) and how not to let her size let her opponent win.

And then he watched as his sister was given a dragon egg. That was less than a year ago. His father had told him he needed to focus on his own life, to focus on learning how to be king. At least, until his father died. The advisor hadn’t appeared too surprised, and the palace’s healer had told them it was an accident, despite the fact that Evaric had seen his father fall from the balcony, bleeding heavily, and a dark figure beyond disappearing out the door. He never had figured out who it might have been. And he had stopped questioning it after he’d found a bloodied dagger in his room. But he’s still wary, and curious. Just what was going on in the palace?

Now, though, he’s heard of crisis happening outside of the Palace, and he wants to help. He just doesn’t know how, yet.

Up For Love? Yes, and he's into both. Please discuss in the DT if you'd like...something. Fling, proper relationship, etc.

Other: If he doesn’t look armed, don’t believe it for a second. Assumption has killed men before, as Evaric is usually armed. Often with a dagger and/or unless he’s playing his less-than-perfect self while out with the soldiers, where he carries a sword, a dagger and a bow, with a quiver of arrows.

Name: Her real name is not known by any other race, but most call her Oriad M'rgrama, the Old Lady. Some older ones, like sorcerers and elves, call her Oracle Oriad.

Age: Her age has gone past the oldest of writings, but the oldest anyone has ever recorded about her was over 2,000 years old.

Gender: Female

Race: Dragon

Rank None

Allegiance: None, but she often communicates with Ninjas and some Elves if she's feeling up to it.

Appearance: She is an old Lightning centered dragon that is the last known living being to be a part in the Das Cadavras, or the Great Unbecoming. She is a very long, skinny dragon, with four wings, two large towards the front of her body and two small ones towards her tail. Her actual body isn't much larger in girth than her tail. She has small feet that can tuck into her body, allowing her to fly faster. Her scales vary in color, mainly being dark indigo, with her tail close on the side of navy blue. If the sun hits her scales right, they because blindingly yellow and the hue lasts for a few minutes, dimming over time until they reach back to their original color.

Personality:She's quite stubborn and very cautious. She allies herself with no one, not even her kin. She will not be afraid to say what she thinks and she will always try to get her way, with success coming much more than failure. She is very an Alpha type. Even in war, she is hard in her ways. However, if someone can get a convincing enough arguement, she will listen to reason. There is much she knows, but if there is something she doesn't know, and someone uses that in an arguement, she will tend to back down on her stubbornness.

Flaws/Weaknesses: She doesn't trust very many people. The people who do manage to get her trust are usually too old to do anything with it or dead by the time she does start trusting them. Even in war, she is cautious and sees danger in every corner. However, that thinking has kept her alive for so long.

Power/s:She is a lightning dragon, so she can control lightning to an extent. She can also fly extremely quickly, but all of this was in her prime, and she might be out of that period XD

History: She was born from a water and a wind dragon, and at the time that combination was very unusual to be heard off, and almost impossible to have offspring from that combination, thus lightning dragons were born.

Lightning dragons, compared to other dragons, are farely new to this world, with Oriad being the first. She herself was born about two decades before the Das Cadavras, the Great Unbecoming, the time whenever the dragons and the sprites started their hundred-year war. Oriad was bred to fight, as all dragons her age were, and she saw many things that any creature wouldn't dare think to see in her early years.

One hundred years later, the war was finished, with a victory of the siege in Unrillïand, the sprite capital. The sprites were driven back into the deepest and darkest places or even slaughtered on sight for the next few hundred years.

Back then, the world was a deep and dark place. Elves were just beginning to evolve from their ancestors into the beings they are today and humans weren't roaming around the lands. Magic was deeply rooted in all the world, and the world rooted in magic. It was exotic times, and she grew up believing that it would stay that way.

Over the next few thousand years, magic changed, but it had always done so, and it always will. Elves became closer to nature, eventually tapping into the abundance of magic in nature's roots, giving them powers of magic and longer life. But there was something else. Something else in the backgrounds. A new species were arising in a corner of the world: Humans. First they were not much more that basic animals, but over the next centuries, with the help of magic and two dragons, they began to flourish, spreading over the world in a very short amount of time, thus beginning the Revolt.

The Revolt was a time of betrayal between dragons. One side wanted to co-exist with the humans as they did with the elves. Another wanted to push back the spread of humans and rule the land like they were supposed to, and a third wanted to let the humans rule for as long as they could. Wars ensued, and humans and dragons were almost wiped out because of it, thus ending the age of dragons' rule. Still, Oriad persevered, outlasting the lifetime of a normal dragon already, forming her personality that she has today slowly but surely: Cautious and somewhat paranoid.

Humans grew back to what they were, but dragons never did. Hiding from each other for thousands of years, breeding amongst themselves, but never so much that it could make them more plentiful than before, for fear that it would make them a threat. No order was established amongst the dragons, and they pushed themselves to the deepest and darkest of places, never to be seen or heard from again for hundreds of years. Still, Oriad pushed through.

About a thousand years ago, the dragons once again committed theirselves to bettering their race again, and it helped, but still not to the point of where they were. Most dragons were not as experienced or as strong as the generations before, for they were kept underground or in other shelters for a long time. But they came back, and they started communicating with some of the other races again, but rarely with the humans or elves, for fear of being wiped out.

So, now the dragons are extremely cautious as a whole, and most are spread across the world, weakened by something unknown, with a small order of dragons, called the Orderr, occupying a small, decreped island off by the sea, next to the kingdom Karalia and Melnar. Oriad lives there, but she rarely speaks to her brethren, only to give advie to the seldom lightning dragon who asks for it. All know of her, but most do not go to see or speak to her. There has not been many a time where a large group of dragons come to speak to her, only when something drastic has happened or needs doing. She is the leader of the Orderr, but she thinks she shouldn't be.

Up For Love? No, she is much to old to have a sensual relationship. She could act like a mother to another dragon, or maybe as a friend, if they gain her trust.

Other:During her Prime, she was a fierce general and could still be, if persuaded enough (Like, a LOT)

Work In Progress

Name: Arianna (Ari) Mandior
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Race: Mage, but all but a select few know her only as a human.
Rank Ninja
Allegiance: Undecided

Appearance: Arianna is slightly on the tall side with a slim build that comes with that height. She has a lightly tanned complexion complemented by chocolate brown hair and bright green eyes. Life on the street and ninja training has also given her lean (but not over-the-top) muscles. She usually keeps her medium-long hair loose but occasionally ties it into a loose, messy knot.
Spoiler
Image

Personality: (Include likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses)

Flaws/Weaknesses: Due to her upbringing (or lack thereof), a lot of Arianna's power is untamed and wild, usually resulting in unpredictable magic accidents. She is also very selfish and has a bit of a "dog eat dog" attitude about life which means she often puts those around her in danger to protect herself.

Power/s: A natural affinity for telekinesis with a bit of self-indulged skill in fire.

History: (At least two four line paragraphs. And none of this “I don’t remember” stuff. Your character has a story, so give us a glimpse of it)

Up For Love? Possibly. Discuss in DT if you wish for a relationship.

Other: (Anything we’ve missed?)

Betrayals and kingdoms, say you, and also dragons.. I'd like the role of the advisor in Karalia, pretty please.
~~~
Mhm.
Name: Naini Nadarys; much better known as Silver
Age: 39
Gender: male
Race: Mage
Rank Royal Advisor
Allegiance: Karalia
Appearance: He is quite tall, slender and pale. His hair is black, shading his green eyes. He sometimes has the sort of stare that makes any man obey his will, but at others he actually seems like a nice person. Definitely nicer than he is. His appearance, he's more than aware of it, isn't at all helpful when it comes to spying, but women like it to even assume he'd be spying on his masters is more than insulting.
He tends to dress in black or shades of grey, keeping to shadows and letting the royalty take the place in the spotlight, and he almost always wears gloves. He rarely smiles because he finds something funny - it's more of a weapon of his - but actually does have quite a nice smile. If he'd dress as a commoner and walk the city, there'd be no person who'd suspect that shy charming man wants something from them.
Spoiler
Image
Personality: Silver's biggest strength lies in the way he handles words. He's a master in manipulating, bending the truth and getting people to believe him - many think, to the point he'd be able to literally get the royals to hand over the throne to him. He, however, has no such interests; though he always stays close to the crown, he wouldn't enjoy wearing it himself, always rather deciding to be the whisperer from the shadows than the person of whose affairs people know. Though he's more than able to get most of the people do things he wants with nothing much more than charm and lies, he likes making deals, and dislikes people who think they should get everything just because it's them who want it. He never makes assumptions based on social status, and will listen with equal attention to a king and to a beggar - and weighing the fact he has, find what's the truth and how to profit from it.
Silver's emotions, most likely due to what his history is like, aren't exactly functioning in the way they're supposed to, but he observes people around so well that he's able to fake everything. He can feel, only not for everyone, and he doesn't really act on compassion or empathy. He's, however, never deliberately hurting anyone, and he's not a bad person at heart. His loyalty lies with himself, though he won't betray his Queen for no reason. He does, however, do much more than he tells her, and hence knows much more than she - or anyone - thinks he does.
He aims to act the proper way, as much as his position allows him, and stay loyal and "following the path of righteous" - as his (dead) mother put it - but that doesn't mean he won't give in to his darker side if he finds a good enough reason. He hates magic and everything connected to it, due to what happened to him, but nevertheless will use it in his advantage. He has and isn't too proud to show respect for magical creatures, and is also very good with children.
Flaws/Weaknesses: He absolutely can't handle being touched at the most of his body - unless when he wants it, that is. If one would catch him unprepared, it'd be one of the very few things to make him drop the facade and kill them.
Power/s: he can be hurt, but not killed by any non-magical weapons. He also sees and can talk to ghosts, and tell how/in how long a person would die - both if he concentrates. He could be using magic he's learned from his book of spells, but he doesn't do anything more than making the rooms he's in soundproof or closing his mind so others can't read it.
History: As much as it's known, he grew up in Nasrin, the capital city of Karalia, being the son of a bookkeeper (mother) and a banker (father), along with three younger sisters and spending more time reading books than doing almost anything else. When he grew older, his family died in a fire, he ended up in the army, but despite of the fact he could wield a sword and t the targets with bow and arrow, he was soon given over to the previous advisor as an assistant. Being who he is from rather early age, Naini soon enough became an apprentice, and then took the role himself as the advisor - Mr Gold, and hence Naini's nickname - died. Silver was still rather young then, but has proved himself worthy to both the King and the Queen, and he's kept the position ever since.
Most of that, however, is not true, but that is not really known. He was really born to a much poorer family, and sold to a sorcerer along with his sisters. The sorcerer was obsessed with his own family dying a while ago, and wanted to create a Mage who'd bring them back - he couldn't have done it himself, and he knew that it would eventually cost his "subjects" a lot. The first thing that he did was putting a spell on them all, making them unable to die by any non-magic weapons; Naini has scars where he tried to cut his wrists to get out of it all, but they're mostly hidden by the gloves. He then gave them books and papers, taught them spells and made them preform them over and over again.
They didn't quite manage to bring his family back - they ended up seeing the dead all around, and knowing of how people around could or would die, and eventually it got too much for all of them. Silver's sisters were begging him to kill them - and he did, both them and the sorcerer, burning down the house along, taking away his book of spells and his abilities, which he more or less could control.
He then really did join the army, met Mr Gold and started learning the secrets of being an advisor, and he made sure never to show his magic and never to use any of the spells he memorized unless he had no choice.
Up For Love? yes, no particular preferences though he leans a bit towards women. If no one takes the role of the Queen - and perhaps even if someone does - there are rumors they're sleeping together, and I have nothing against making them true c:
Other: It's known that he's interested in magic and knows some tricks, but not of his abilities and of the fact he really hates magic. He also sees and talks to his sisters occasionally, but never around people.
Name: Aspen Karalia
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Rank Princess
Allegiance: Karalia
Appearance
Image
Aspen is small and dainty but this allows her to be more agile, although not many people know this as her mother continuingly insisted that she act how a princess should. Her hair is a faded tea-rose pink and is always neatly made into a side ponytail. Aspen’s cheek bones are very high and she has little to no muscle mass; her eyes are a cross between very light grey and blue. She has always hated the dresses her mother put her in but with age has gained more control over her wardrobe, allowing her to wear a casual plaid skirt and sleeveless jacket.
Personality
Aspen appears to be as helpless as a rabbit but she is very strong willed and uses her visible flaws (height, weight etc) to her advantage. This has led to her becoming a very confident young woman who isn’t afraid to say what is on her mind, if anything it has allowed her to challenge even the difficult of soldiers; she has somewhat of a keen eye for strategy. Aside from her family, Aspen’s dragon, Wren is her biggest weakness; she has grown up with the magical creature and will often throw reason out of the window when aiding her dragon.
Flaws/Weaknesses
Aspen is more intelligent and outspoken than she appears but when she or somebody she cares for is in danger; she will go with the motions and generally take action before thinking it through. This means that Aspen is more useful from afar where she can analyse problems from different perspectives; her current goal is to help in any way she can to save her dragon, Wren.
History
Aspen grew up with a very privileged lifestyle and never wanted for anything, however as she grew older she became more aware of things that were happening around her. She wanted to be a part of something bigger than just a symbol for the people of Karalia, so she spent her time play fighting with her brother and reading as much as she possibly could.
In a swift attempt to get rid of her rebellious and inquisitive attitude, her parents gave her a dragon egg for her seventeenth birthday; it was one of her father’s most prized possessions but he felt that it would serve more use in the arms of his daughter. So Aspen nursed the egg for months until it finally hatched, and Wren was born; but like most dragons, it took an instant dislike to humans – leading it to rarely obey her, let alone acknowledge her.
Because of this, Aspen was never able to learn how to ride her dragon but spent her days trying to convince Wren that she was a friend; not an enemy. Despite this, over the years, Wren has become a little warmer to Aspen but still does not let her ride; something Aspen has come to terms with.
Now, ever since learning of the crisis within Karalia, Aspen has vowed to Wren to do anything she possibly can to try and help her. Something that Wren knows cannot be done unless they work together; dragons are known for their impeccable intelligence.
Dragon
Image
As above, Wren is still coming to terms with having to trust Aspen; partly because it will make her look weak among the other dragons. However, because dragons are rare, Aspen has incessantly said that the only way they will survive is by working together; therefore she is slowly warming to the princess.
Also, Wren inexplicably has webbed feet which make her an excellent swimmer; additionally, Aspen also thinks that this is somehow connected to why Wren shoots blue flames, something she nicknamed 'Cold Fire'.
Up For Love?
Aspen has never cared for any of the men her mother has presented to her; she doesn’t want a man of nobility, she would much prefer a soldier or somebody who has experienced life. This would fascinate her to no end and she would like nothing more than fighting beside a man she loves.
Name:
Ygor Lyvsbane (ee-gor life's bane – get it? ;D)
nickname: Iggy
alias: “The Needle,” because of his penchant for poisoning and other clean killing methods.
Age: 35
Gender: male
Race: Human
Rank Assassin
Allegiance:
He is a mercenary, going to the highest bidder. His allegiance is essentially his wallet, unless something worth more than gold were to come along.
Appearance:
He's rather tall for a human at 6'4”, and sharp as a blade. His body is lean and sculpted in the way that can only be achieved through hard physical labor, tanned and weathered from years spent toiling in the elements. His once brown hair has been permanently sun-bleached an ashy blond. Thankfully (for the women of the village) not even Mother Nature herself could claw the strange beauty from his face – Ygor is not handsome at first glance, but rather striking with his mis-matched brown and green eyes, and sharp cheeks like a cruel woman.
Spoiler
Personality:
At first meeting, his appearance lends him the air of a cold brute, but this is quickly dispelled by the Cheshire Cat grin he is likely to give you. Ygor seems like a fellow who has accepted his lot in life and is thusly contented – which, though not untrue, holds much more truth than at first guess: He does not blame others for any choice he has made, and so he quietly accepts his double life as farmhand/assassin. He is friendly and dreamy, though he consistently hides his more intelligent side to avoid any suspicion when The Law comes sniffing around. In his village, he is more concerned with the simplicity of drinking at the tavern and brazenly flirting with the ladies, though he truly is a learned and artistic man – a life that can only be lived in the wee hours between sunset and sunrise.
He likes good beer, good weather, and good music. He dislikes the cold and winter season in general, as there is not much during the day to distract his body from what his mind would rather be doing. He secretly finds the local women uncouth and repellant, with their lack of manners and decorum. Ygor longs to meet a woman of cultivation and pride, though how does one go about wooing a woman in the dead of night while she sleeps beside her now-dead husband?
Flaws/Weaknesses:
Allergies! Ygor is actually very allergic to honey and bees. Plus, his eyes are very distinguishing, and his height has quite a few disadvantages when it comes to going unnoticed. And for a man of his lifestyle, he is unusually compassionate. He often remarks to himself after a significant event, “How can we ever know what dark secret twists a person's heart to do the things they do?”
Power/s: Stealth and memory.
History:
During the day he toils as a farmhand for his elderly aunt and uncle, Lydia and Nassor Lyvsbane, who took Ygor in after the sad death of his parents, which they never speak of. They moved several villages away to protect Ygor, and life went on. The truth of the matter is that Ygor watched, hiding at the top of the stairs, while his mother stabbed his father to death and then slit her own throat. Because of this, he fears falling in love and does not trust women.
His parents were literate people and he was able to smuggle a few books of theirs with them when he moved in with his relatives who detest literature – books about science and espionage, and great heroic epics of vengeance. It was the latter that left the deepest impression on the lonely boy, and he decided that the only way to be spared his father's fate would be to learn some self-defense and learn how to read people. (Think of him like Westley in The Princess Bride, secretly studying all that he can.) He wanted to be a protector at first, but to find people worth protecting you have to get close to them... And herein lies the problem.
The turning point of his story so far came when he was just 16 and had intercepted an assassination attempt on... another assassin! The original Needle. As dramatic as that all sounds, the whole of the event amounted to inviting the aging man away from the ally and over to his market stall in order to keep him out of range of a man taking aim at him from behind another stall. He calmly explained to the man that he had been watching him being followed for some time, and the marketplace would be such an undignified place to die. Ygor explained all the signs he had noticed, and chatted casually with the man how his would-be murderer was third rate at best. The Needle, duly impressed by such brightness in such an unassuming boy, took this as a sign from the Gods that his replacement had been found, and Ygor was under his wing.
Up For Love?
I think so, yes, if a cultivated and strong-willed woman could come along... maybe a dangerous woman >.> but I'm game for anything. Because of his aforementioned issues with women, he would actually (though unknown to himself) be more likely to easily fall in love with a man of the same qualities.
Name: they've been called many names in his past. The elves know them as Erebus, the dragons know them as Dakhashau, the humans call him the Devil. He likes the name Terry/Tara.
Age: they have no idea. S/He assumes they're as old as the world. Looks young.
Gender: N/A he''s been both and none. Currently male. Can change if he feels like it. requires expenditure of magic, as mentioned under weaknesses.
Race: s/he's a god. Deal with it.
Rank s/he owns a small library in the capital of Karalia.
Allegiance: most definitely self.
Appearance: Terry's very nondescript looking. He's of average height, pale complexion. His hair is red-brown, cut relatively short. His eyes are also of the same color. He's usually wearing a figure-hugging black leather coat (with hood) and pants. He has smarter clothes for smarter occasions.
Spoiler
Image
Tara's 'petite', as you could put it. Shorter than Terry, curvier. Her skin is paler and hair, still at shoulder-height, is somewhat redder. Her eyes still remain brown.
Spoiler
Image
In both forms, they have faint traceries of scars all across their chest and legs, reminders of previous battles, you could say.
Personality: Terry is a rather mild person. He's somewhat lazy, doesn't like intense physical exercise. He's calm in most situations, an analytic thinker, you could say. He won't get flustered in most situations. Terry's also an implacable man. Once he's set himself a goal, there's no stopping him(self) until he's achieved it. It won't drive him to the point of rash acting, but he most definitely won't focus on anything else. He doesn't like physical violence, but will take his stress out on others with forms of passive aggression, usually expressed through cutting sarcasm. He also will never show another what he's truly thinking or feeling. In the true virtue of the element he incarnates, he will shamelessly lie, cheat, and swindle -- as long as it doesn't involve violence. He's good with words, and has, many times, corrupted or beguiled another to his cause. Terry doesn't consider other people as people so much as pawns, and this, in the past, has led him to disastrous mistakes. He's learned now, but still occasionally slips into this mode of thinking. He's also, in this way, rather arrogant. He considers most people below him. This was especially true when he had all of his powers, but now, less so. He acknowledges the fact most others are now physically and magically stronger than him, and therefore sets about achieving his goals through cunning and weasel words.
Tara, on the contrary, is a very energetic person. She's bright, charismatic, and very emotive. She won't hide what she's feeling, ever, even if it goes against her. Tara is as readable as a book. She prefers actions to words, and this goes for all situations -- whether she's fighting or relating to others. While Terry prefers to stay in his library and plot his next move towards world domination read, Tara would much rather go out, have some fun possibly. Tara has a strong sweet tooth and is something of a daredevil. She has a penchant for gambling and getting into tavern brawls. While Terry is the thinking person, Tara is the one who gets things done. Both are very single-minded in their goals, but Tara is more likely to do reckless moves. Tara is also more empathetic than Terry, but she's usually also the one beating people's faces in. While Terry would swindle a failing orphanage and take the last of their money, Tara would never, but Terry, on the other hand, would not enter in open conflict with multiple people in an unprotected area. Tara values life more than Terry, you could say, and wishes to live hers to the fullest. Because of this, she is also far more self-aware, and can perceive danger more quickly.
Both are entirely gender fluid, and there are moments when Terry refers to himself as a she and Tara a he. They will stand up for male and female rights passionately.
Flaws/Weaknesses: refer to personality for personality weaknesses. In terms of physical weaknesses, Terry isn't very strong, nor is Tara, for that matter. The difference is Tara acts strong, and when fighting, the two are very similar. She has a weak left knee, however. Terry suffers from asthma, which is why he insists on his library being always immaculate. Magic-wise, they're both very limited, shadows of a fraction of their former selves. They have limited stores of magic, and even shifting consumes it. They're crippled physically and magically, in short.
Power/s: both Terry and Tara know every magical art, spell and incantation there is. They have mastered everything there is to master, and indeed, founded most dark art sects currently practiced. As mentioned above, however, they don't have the raw power to employ their massive arsenal of spells.
History: There's so much history to tell. They were created out of the darkness and chaos that was born with the universe, but took physical form with the dawn of the first man. They grew powerful alongside man, and encouraged mankind to grow, develop. With man's golden age, so their sins were powerful, and so Terry and Tara were. They grew to such power they could have challenged the gods themselves, and so they did. During the great Dragon Wars, they sided with man, and slaughtered fields of angels and dragons, and all those who stood in their path. However, there was a coalition of the Great Three, the three most powerful mages respectively from dragonkind, the elvenfolk, and man. Together, they cast a powerful spell, one that had never been seen before, and banished the god of darkness, in exchange for their lives. So Terry and Tara lay low, debilitated, weak, reforming bit by painful bit. Now, they have reformed almost fully, but their power is still very weak. They seek powerful magical sources to return to their former glory. They know the gods have almost abandoned earth, the elves hide, and most dragons are extinct. There are none, they assume, who can stop them. It is but a matter of time, they are sure, until they rise again. And with their rise comes the fall of what is, was, and will be.
Up For Love? Terry is definitely more jaded, while Tara has no such inhibitions, though she's never been in a serious relationship. Both are bisexual.
Other: They've been almost everywhere, and contributed to the founding of cults, magics, and even cities.
Words are a lens to focus one's mind.
- Ayn Rand
These were autumn mornings, the time of year when kings of old went forth to conquest; and I, never stirring from my little corner in Calcutta, would let my mind wander over the whole world.
— Rabindranath Tagore, The Cabuliwallah
