Stumbled across this on my Tumblr. Thought it might be fun to post here.

So...Test your vocab! How many words do you know?

I scored 27,900. I think that's good? Or in the realm of normality anyway.

The site says - Most Native English adult speakers who have taken the test fall in the range 20,000–35,000 words.

And for foreign learners of English, we've found that the most common vocabulary size is from 2,500–9,000

I got 31,000 something. Some of those I thought might be tricks to make you think you were picking a fake word! Silly how "words" came into existence.

Took it this morning and got 26,000 something. Now I'm at 29,000. I think I might have picked a few extra words this time that I wasn't 100% sure about.

And Tenyo, I'm with you lol.

22500. I'm around 3000 words above the average for my age. But really, a lot of those words didn't seem like real English. If it was, it was probably really old English (I'm not a fan of the classics and they arent' taught in our curriculumn). I could use some of those words in context, but I didn't know their meanings so I didn't check the box.

32,700...

I could have probably done better, except that half of them were french, german and obscure English (England English) words.
