I don't know many Latin roots (at least not enough to guess word meanings based on them), but I think in response to an earlier comment that it's not cheating if you can figure out the word meaning based on the roots. I mean, you don't even have the context of a sentence and you figured out the meaning? That's pretty impressive.
I also think it counts if you can use the word correctly in a sentence, even if you have a hard time actually coming up with a real definition. Because if you can use it correctly, you do *know* it.
