Best Film of 2012?

With the Oscars approaching, I'm wondering what everyone's favorite movie that's come out this year is! It doesn't have to be an oscar nominee, but it also can be!

For me it's a tie between Les Miserables and Perks of Being a Wallflower.

More of a science fiction person myself, so I thought Looper was fantastic (probably won't even be nominated though). I also think the newest 007 movie should win something (but not best picture).

Les Miserables was excellent, it's fine with me if it wins. However, it shouldn't be nominated for categories with "best original" in the title, because the story is based off a play (much like "The King's speech".) So it's an adaptation, which means it's not original. But a great adaptation that is surely worthy of best picture.

I'm not generally too up-to-date on the latest films, but I thought that The Hobbit and Silver Linings Playbook were fantastic

Beasts of the Southern Wild was probably the best film I saw.

Lincoln was also spectacular.

I LOVED SKYFALL 007.
SO many people say, "Daniel Craig sucks." I would have to disagree. He did a fantastic job and is a really great actor. I think that people say that they dont like him because he's a new James Bond. People ALWAYS say that about new Bonds.
But, my favorite character in Skyfall was Silva. I dont know his real name, but his character was AMAZING. One moment he was nice as can be, the next, he was putting a woman at gunpoint, the next, he was emotional and disturbing, the next, he was the most delicious evil ever to be seen.
Best. Character. EVER.

I liked Skyfall, too. It had a lot of very cool effects and action scenes.

Also, I have to admit that I enjoyed Magic Mike. A lot. There was no plot or anything, but hello, Channing Tatum. It definitely wasn't the best film, but it was certainly memorable.

Argo was good. Perks was good. I think I would have to say Flight though, not at all what I expected but an excellent film. Denzel Washington and John Goodman's performances were equally memorable, the subject matter was right up my alley and there was a cancer patient character who had a single scene who was a complete show stealer.

Skyfall was brilliant, but I personally think that The Dark Knight Rises is the star movie of the year - such a fantastic end to a phenomenal trilogy. I don't expect it to win any major awards because superhero films never do, but it remains a fabulous film in my eyes, winner or not.

Being a well known movie buff, I'd like to add my own two cents. This year saw the release of many brilliantly made films. Buuuuut there can only be one, buuuuuut I'm gonna cheat and give you my top 10.
My top 10 films in no particular order are:
1. Perks of being a wallflower- wonderful storyline, wonderful acting, Ezra Miller.
2. Les Miserables- It was certainly not the best film of the year, but Hatheway's performance bowled me over.
3. Little Ashes- Simply Brilliant. This movie features Robert Pattinson as Salvador Dali, and he was just soooooo good.
4. The Dark Night Rises- Christopher Nolan, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Marion Cottilard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine. Need I say more?
5. The Hobbit- I know, I know. The Hobbit? For all it's flaws it had Martin Freeman, and it is scientifically proven fact that Martin is bunnies. Fluuuuuufy Bunnies. How can you hate that?
6. Silver Linings Playbook- Quirky, off-beat, and it stars Jennifer Lawrence. How can anyone resist it?
7. Lawless- another one of my guilty pleasure. It had Tom Hardy, okay. And I am defenceless against those lips. The liiiiiips.
8. The Avengers- Funny, great cast, and it has Tom Hiddleston. Guuuuuys. Tom Hiddleston.
9. Prometheus- Not the greates movie ever made, buuuut it has a wonderfully talented cast, including Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender. The two prettiest people in the world.
10. Magic Mike- Shirtless Men. That's all I have to say.
Honourable mentions go to (most of these films are indie movies) Brave, Albert Nobbs, Keep the lights on, Any Day Now, The lady, and many, many more, but I don't have time to get into them. Sorry for making it soooooo long.

Movies, movies, movies! Ah, the life of film and art, one of my most favorite arts! Anyways, for 2012...hmmm, what is the best movie for me?

It's hard to pick one movie out of the many I like. But I can categorize them at least. Let me do it by giving my own awards!

I have my way with these movies

I really liked Red Dawn, and The Avengers of course. Are we not going to include Rise of the Guardians?

Obviously The Hobbit.

Didn't see many movies, but I did catch Lawless when it was the only English movie playing at the theater at past midnight, and I am so happy I did. It was glorious. Lawless all the way.

I always play catch-up with movies, so I'm still to watch most of the highly-rated stuff from last year.

That said, I watched Silver Linings Playbook this evening and loved it. Fantastic film. Jennifer Lawrence is amazing.

That movie was fantastic, so underrated. "I thought I walked" lol
