Aubry

" Cliff," I say with a nervous giggle " What can I do? Have you seen my upper body strength. I can hardly rip ten pieces of construction paper all together. Let alone shedding my sweat, tears, and blood on your crazy workout regimen." I state.

"Well what can you do?" He ask's with a smirk, raising one eyebrow at me.

" I can fix broken bones, stitch up major cuts and bites, and shoot of course." I say with a smile. He looks slightly shocked at the last part, and then i decide that its my turn to raise one eyebrow at him.

" And why didn't you tell anyone about that? Or even tell them about this goldmine you have down here?" He says gesturing towards the whole room.

I sigh and state " Clifford...this place is my holy place. My sanctuary. My nirvana. I don't want any of it to change. All I want to do is to pretend that my parents will be home soon, and to leave everything just as it is. Cliff let me ask you this. Where do you think that I sleep every night?" I ask.

"Well in the school of course with all of us. You always said that you were going to sleep in Ms.Beaney's room because she has the bean bag chairs and that you wanted to sleep alone because you get edgy if someones sleeping in the same room of course..." he dies off, now re-considering everything i've ever told the group. I shake my head sadly at him and look down.

" What I really do is come here every night. Dude, how do you think that my ipod is always charged? My parents have generators that could last literally five decades all planted underground. After my dad came from the army thirty years ago he was bent on this doomsday preparation crap. He had been readying this room for it ever since then. He kept it a secret from my mother but finally told her once i was born. Her being totally in love with him, made it so that she didn't even care once she found out. After that she was trained for it and then once i turned five I was trained. The only thing I truly let him teach me was shooting and even that I did with a fight. Since I was a child I've hated violence with a passion and we had gotten into some really heated arguments when I refused to use hand to hand or anything else." I sigh, suddenly tired after telling him about my childhood "The shooting lessons were a compromise...and even after those the only way i could fight my guilt was to smoke weed." My eyes begin getting moist and I wipe at them quickly before he can notice.

We're both silent for a few minutes before he turns around and asks " So why aren't they alive right now?" He asks quietly.

I laugh bitterly at that " Of course their friggin alive right now. After my granpop died when i was thirteen, My family and I were more loaded then we were before. Literally, millions of dollars at my dad's waste. And do you wanna know what he bought? A F*cking island. And they left me..." I whisper.

"Aubry they wouldn't leave-" He begins but I cut him off.

" You don't have to know the full story. Just know that they left me." I say then get up quickly.

" Okay " I say loudly " What I need you to do is not tell the group about this. Please? What we'll say is that we came by my house found a bunch of food, started walking back to the school, and found a police car with a duffle full of guns." I say quickly. I don't even wait for him to respond, and just begin filling one duffel full of handguns, pistols, bronze knuckles, and a wide variety of knives. Enough of those and ammo to supply us for years. I then begin filling another larger duffel full of grenades, smoke bombs, and the heavy artillery.

" We're gonna have to hide this bag in case of an emergency. Maybe in one of the west wing classrooms. Nobody ever goes in there. Fill another bag full of canned foods and crap. And the last one full of candy, mainly kit kats and nerds. But lots and lots of sweets. That last one is my own personal supply just so ya know." I state and i hear him chuckle.

Once all of the bags are filled I dismiss myself to change into a new outfit. A bright blue hoodie and a pair of loose gray sweat pants and a pair of nikes. If anyone asks where I got this outfit i'll just say that I looted a locker. I check my mirror and fix my hair into a french braid and put on a swipe of lip gloss. I bet that Cliff will like that, I think with a smile. I climb downstairs and as soon as I see Cliff studying our old family pictures I smile.

" Oh and by the way Cliff," I say suddenly, making him jump " I'd love it if you could train me." I say with a bright smile.

Desmond

"Hey Desmond, could you go find Alex for me? I want to hold a meeting," Rick stated, coming into the locker rooms where I was getting dressed after a long shower.

"Sure, no problem," I said, pulling my shirt over my head.

I quickly walked down to the Art Department, where I found her slumped over a desk, sleeping soundly. She looked so peaceful and sweet, I really didn't want to wake usher up. I reached out and shook her shoulders gently. "Alex, wake up," I whispered.

She lifted her head, looking a little dazed, and her eyes fluttered open. She looked at me, bleary-eyed and confused. "Rick wants us in the canteen- like now," I explained.

She sat up and stretched, revealing some kind of drawing underneath her. I picked it up and studied it. It was a charcoal drawing of a hummingbird delicately sipping nectar from a flower. The hummingbird seemed to be darting about the page while still looking tiny and fragile. She had paid close attention to detail and made everything appear to be real.

"This is... really good," I said for lack of words. She smiled a bit at the compliment.

"It's the first thing I've drawn in a year," she said, hopping off the stool.

I set the drawing back down and we left for the canteen. Neither of us said much along the way as she seemed pretty tired. Everybody else was already there when we got to the canteen, so we quickly sat at a table. Rick was standing in front, prepared to talk to all of us. I was feeling jealous that he would be the one giving orders, but I bit my tongue.

"I suggest that six of us go out today," he began. "We need supplies, canned foods, and weapons- even if it's just a heavy tree branch. Split into two groups of three and split into two directions."

At this I looked over at Alex, making eye contact. We were sticking together for this.

"Then the rest of us will stay and attempt to sort this electricity out- if we can sort the fuses out, we should be able to us the town's electricity."

We all stood up, eager to get into groups, but I noticed something odd. "Where's Cliff and Aubry?" I asked, feeling a surge of panic.

Everyone looked around and realised that they were missing. What happened to them? It wasn't like either of them to miss a meeting. I began to worry, afraid that something must've happened to them.

"Somebody go look for Cliff, I'm going to go find Aubry," I shouted as I darted out of the canteen.

I ran towards Room 2-B, where she usually slept. My mind was racing and my heart was beating fast. Had the zombies infiltrated the school again and attacked them? I had left my gun back in the locker rooms, so I was screwed if I came across one. I skidded to a halt outside of the classroom and peered in through the little window in the door. Aubry was all curled up in a beanbag chair, sleeping with her earbuds still in her ears. I was relieved that she was all right, but I was absolutely furious that she had missed the meeting to sleep in. I was ready to kick the door down and scream until my voice was hoarse, but I stopped myself, remembering what Alex had said. I took my hand off the door knob, closed my eyes and slowly counted to ten in Italian.

"Uno, due, tre..." I murmured, taking deep breaths. It was working. "... quattro, cinque, sei, secen, otto, nove, deici."

Feeling a little more relaxed, I opened the door and walked over to Aubry's beanbag chair. I shook her shoulders gently until she woke up.

"Aubry, you missed the meeting," I said quietly. "It's not like you to sleep in. What happened?"

Aubry

"Humph! Leave me alone señor Estevez! I didn't get to sleep much last night." I groan and swat at the hand thats shaking me.

" Aubry, come on. We have to get to the group." Desmond shook me some more and I got up with a strong scowl on my face.

" I bring you guys food and crap and you won't even let me sleep in?!" I scream at him in rage. He get's silent for a second and stops shaking me. Thats more like it, I think in my head and begin going back to sleep.

"You...did...what?" He whispers, rage lacing his words. My eyes shoot open and I gulp loudly. And this is when i get screamed at, I think bracing myself.

Clifford Jamers

There was a meeting, yeah I knew. I heard them calling people, I knew where I was supposed to go, I just didn't. I walked, hands in my pockets, around the school. I didn't even take my barbell. On quiet morning like this one you could hear the low moan of the infected off in the distance. I listened and hummed along quietly.

"This group is going to hell..."

It was true. It was like we couldn't make a cohesive decision, everyone going against each other. We were supposed to be a team but it was like we were seperate clans sharing the same land.

I kicked a rock and it flew off into the forest somewhere, Aubry's secret hiding place. What did she think she was doing, keeping something as big as that hidden? I suppose she has her reasons. She'd tell when she felt it right. Honestly, I wouldn't tell anybody either if I was her. These people haven't been the kindest to Aubry, including me sometimes. I should have been helping her a long time ago.

Tired of walking around aimlessly I sat down, elbows on my knees, and I suddenly wanted to scream. We're all going to catch our death here at this pace. All of us. What if another attacked happened right now. No one's on watch, no one's prepared. I buried my face in my hands and sighed.

"Clifford?"

I looked up.

"There's a meeting."

"Yeah, yeah. I know."

Richard: Cafeteria

Many had shown at the meeting, yet others had not, namely the ones who would have to briefed again on the plan... which made things even more complicated should they have no idea what the hell was going on.

Rick started the meeting, all of us that attended sat round a large rectangular table that had been constructed with three, so it looked like a true meeting of political leaders, although what we'd discuss right now would actually be of importance. As Rick opened with some sort of speech, I found my mind wandering once again. How exactly would we be able to restore the power? As much as we may have a few that are good with electrical appliances that's not quite on the scale of a power grid. Another thing struck me too: just how would we gather enough materials to expand our fortifications onto the school field?

This operation may take a while, but I'm sure it'll be worth it.

Rick finishes off and allows me to speak. I reassess my plan quickly inside my head and begin to present it to the others.

"I suggest that six of us go out today, we need supplies, canned foods and weapons - even if it's just a heavy tree branch. Split into two groups of three, and split into two directions. Then the rest of us to stay and attempt to sort this electricity out - if we can sort the fuses out we should be able to use the town's electricity..."

"We don't need food or weapons." A voice trailed into the hall. I looked over to see Clifford looking rather... distressed? Annoyed? I had no idea, but needless to say I was interested. "We found a few survivors who had fallen outside, carried a few weapons and ammunition, as well as food with them in some duffell bags."

I scrutinised his posture and voice (and logic for that matter), and I knew this was a lie, at least where the supplies came from, but if we had the stuff, it didn't matter.

"Shouldn't someone be on guard duty?" He asked, impatiently.

"Have you seen outside? There aren't enough infected out there to form a horde... which leads me onto my next idea." I counter. "The school is a formidable building; it has kept us alive long enough to see it almost cleared, however, as we know, the supermarkets around here will not keep us fed forever."

A few depressed groans drifted from all directions.

"I suggest, if we have enough supplies to continue for a while, that we assign some people to the purpose of getting the power back online, we'll probably only need two, while the rest of us start moving some scrap metal and wood to try and get the perimeter of the school barricaded so we can move onto the field and set up some simple areas, such as growing patches and, if we happen to find any left, animal enclosures too. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. So, who's best with electrics? 'Cause it sure as hell isn't going to be me..."

I looked around for any volunteers.

IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!!!!

Someone has brought to my attention storyplot problems are being solved much to quickly, disallowing plotline advancement. Please remember to make this realistic, as this is a realistic fiction. Emphasis on realistic.

Also, I plan to add in 2 more characters to add in a bit of realism. They will be 2 survivors that found their way here from a distant town overwhelmed by zombies, thereby they will know more of the threat then we do. One will be from a new person to the storybook and one will be another one I make for my character to have a better chance at a "friend", but no guarantee at it.

So, Sourdude's already mentioned that a new and exciting member shall be joining your happy fellowship. That said, I really hope that I'm the person he means.
Onwards!
Spoiler
Name: Billy-Joe McGranahan
Age: 18
Description: Billy's a redneck, a hillbilly, a laughably righ-wing southern states yokel and proud of it. Teeth are an optional extra where he comes from.
Personality: Billy's tree falls long short of the top branch. He was never intelligent before his various experiences with drugs, moonshine and a falling tree to the crown. However, he is very loyal, so long as he thinks your motives are genuine and you're not preying on his low IQ.
History: Billy-Joe was raised on a ranch in south Texas, near the Mexican border. His father taught him all he knew, including how to hunt and a variety of useful farmhand skills. By the age of fourteen, Billy owned his own Winchester hunting rifle (entirely illegally, of course). He was visiting his cousin when the virus struck.
Weapon: His Winchester rifle.
Skillset: Billy is a crack marksman, as well as having reasonable proficiency in personal survival. If a farm is established in a stronghold to provide for the team, Billy is your man. As with everything though, his falling point is his near-to-nonfunctional brain. Up close, he's able to take a beating, but is far better placed away from the horde.

Other info not listed above: Billy-Joe is the one on the left. His cousin Stevie is on the right. Billy hopes fervently that Stevie is alive.[/spoiler]

Damned spoilers are playing up, at least I tried.

Here is the character that shall be joining Billy, and will be my second character.

Name: John James Leroy Jenkins(yes, he has 2 middle names, deal with it)
Gender: Male
Description: Handsome male at height of 6 foot even. Has hazel green eyes and thick black hair. He is well toned and represents the guy that every girl wants in school.
Personality: He is a terrific and nice guy. He has always had the appealing attitude that helps him get the girl, or guy, that he wants. He is almost perfect in personality and matches up with most anyone.
History: He grew up on a farm out 6 towns over from the location of the storybook. He had plenty of exercise while taking care of the farms many animals, including horses, and planting the crops for every season. He had the perfect family and never had issues with others. He learned how to ride horses at an early age and was one of his attributes that helped him survive longer in the apocalypse. The horse allowed an easily fed transportation that would not be impossible to be used when the gas stations shut down. He met Billy one his travelling and quickly became friends with Billy. As with his bisexuality, he discovered that he was bisexual in the early 5th grade when he noticed a subtle attraction to some males, but mostly females.
Skillset: Charismatic and great with any variation of weapons, from a wooden stick to even the most powerful of guns.
Weapon: He found a katana lieing on the ground around a weapons store in his town when the zombie infestation consumed it, so he has a Katana now.
Picture: will post shortly.
Other information:He is bisexual, liking girls slightly more then guys, but swings both ways.

Desmond

I was livid with rage. "Explain. Now," I hissed, struggling to keep from yelling.

Aubry looked at me, her eyes wide with fear. "My house isn't far, and there's plenty of supplies there. So I left alone last night-"

"WHAT?" I shouted, causing her to cower. I closed my eyes and started counting again. Uno, duo, tre... Taking several deep breaths, I opened my eyes again and looked at her. "I'm sorry. Continue."

"I was alone at first but Cliff found me," she said quickly. "We gathered guns and food, I can show you if you want."

I blinked, surprised. "How many guns and how much food?"

She shrugged. "A bag full of guns and ammo and another bag full of food There's more at the house."

For a moment I was so excited that I forgot my anger. More supplies... just a short way's away? "Aubry, you have to take us there."

Rick's POV:

The meeting had finally drawn to a close and we were off in directions to take care of our goals. I decided to help set up the new barrier outside. The sun was out, so that was definately a plus. The zombies seem to have fled out momentarily allowing us the perfect time to reset up the barrier. Although they weren't gone, they were spread out MUCH more, allowing an easier time to re-set barriers without worries. I knew that now was the time to act on a rebuild while the zombies were partially retreated. I was about to head outside when I saw a guy without teeth and a handsome guy on horses. I had to go introduce myself.

John's POV:

We had found another school which was surrounded by zombies. Luckily I had my katana with me, so I easily sliced through the enemies and made my way towards the school. I then saw some guy coming out and he greeted me. This was great. There were more survivors, which meant that there was still a chance of the human race not going extinct. Good thing I met Billy, as that gave me the glimmer of hope I needed to continue searching for survivors, otherwise I would never have found these 6 others that confirm all hope. As the guy proceeded towards me I held out my empty hand as an offer for a handshake.

"Hi, I'm Rick," he said, "I'm one of the 12 survivors housed here. We are trying to fix our barriers here, so you arrived just in time to get in before the barriers are up. And you are?" He asked me as he shook my hand.

"I'm John and this is Billy. Thanks for the greeting. So there are 11 more survivors with you?"

"Yep," He responded, seeming very eager to meet me. He then asked me how I got here and I responded truthfully. Why lie about something like that when we were all suffering the same troubles?"

*I'm just going to hop in here*

Arden !

I ignored Richard's question. I sure as hell wasn't savvy with anything electric oriented. My whole family was a military one. I gingerly ran my fingers my necklace, heavy with three dog tags, a solid silver band and a ID band that would fit around my thumb. A lump rose in my throat as I turned away from the group. "I'm going to see what I can find for the barricade. The group disbanded behind me and I walked through the halls, picking up tops of wooden desks, bent and broken medal bars and wood that had been pried up from the floor and off the walls.

I stepped through a door, broken off its hinges and dropped the supplies on the ground near a broken part of the fence, pulling the hammer off of my belt along with some nails from the pouch on the other side, all having been salvaged throughout the time within the school. There were very few zombies around the school, and the closest ones seemed to be making their way back to whatever dark, slimy place they had crawled out of.

As I nailed park of the barricade back up, shoving the bars into the ground vertically to add support, I heard Rick's voice coming from the other side of what used to be the entrance to the high school. Was he introducing himself to someone. I perked up immediately and hurried around the entrance, shocked to see two more survivors. One of the two guys on a horse was speaking about how they made to the school, so I kept my mouth shut, simply walking up to Rick's side. I didn't want to interrupt, but it was great to see new faces. Besides, this made their numbers grow from twelve to a greater fourteen.

I waited for Desmond to return from finding Aubry, as they walked back into the canteen I heard her mutter "I don't want everyone to know right now, okay?" to him.

"Just me, you, Cliff and Alex" He replied. "She won't tell anyone" It was true, since Desmond had turned out to be the only person I'd really opened up with - and I had hardly spoke too Aubry while I had been here.

They walked over and I looked at them with raised eyebrows. "I'm not going to tell anybody what?" I asked.

"We're going to Aubry's house, we'll explain once we get there" Desmond said. "Richard's out front greeting some new arrivals, we should be able to get out easily - straight into the forest"

I stared wide-eyed at him. "We have new arrivals!" I asked him, he nodded and then told me to hurry up. I jumped off the table and followed Desmond and Aubry out - as we snuck out through a back door we saw Richard and the new arrivals in the distance, but ran into the forest before they could see us.

"Wait - are you the person who sneaks out every night?" I asked suddenly, Aubry stopped and turned to me. "I don't sleep much, and I know the difference between the sound of a zombie moving, and a human moving"

I never brought it up, I didn't really talk to anyone anyway - and Aubry had a pretty feirce attitude so if I had figured it was her I wouldn't have dared grass on her since I would be scared she would kill me before the zombies did.

I felt the cold breeze and crossed my arms - forgetting that I still didn't have a jacket.

Billy-Joe

I loped along behind John, sniffing the air like a hunting dog. I couldn't smell anything rotten, so presumably the survivors had cleaned up a bit, which mean they must have been here a fair while. Dead zed just isn't healthy.
It took my eyes a moment to adapt to the dark interior of the school; the sun was intense, causing the undead to scatter, at least until they too adjusted.
The heat of the day took little toll on my fifth generation Texan body, but my first job would be to fix a drink, preferably something highly intoxicating.
At a loss in the new environment, I decided to take a wander, hoping to beg, borrow or steal a drink from someone, and to get better acquainted with the various members of this new party.

Man... tough crowd. If nobody's gonna go along with the plan, we might as well just rot here. We're not getting anywhere.

"Y'know what?" I laughed, impatiently, "just do what the hell you want." I stormed out of the meeting and sighed deeply; of all the teams I happened to wind up in, it was one that was constructed completely of teenagers. I had tried to cope with the circumstances, yet it seemed as if the group was much too uncoordinated to manage any sort of operation that may make life easier. Despite my lack of any kind of advanced electrical knowledge, I decided that it would be more productive if I just said to hell with it and get the job done myself, otherwise nothing would get finished.

As I walked angrily down the hallway, the smell of body odour became pungent and almost unbearable, and I cringed in disgust. As I looked up and down the hallway, I realised we had a new team member. "Oh, a survivor? That's a relief."

"Ayup. Name's Billie-Joe," the man's voice was afflicted with intellectual nothingness, but that would probably make him easier to work with than those who questioned my plans too much. "Say, ya got anythin' ta drink," he smiled, his open mouth resembling a car crash.

"Actually," I cock my head in interest. "I have a particularly fond interest in mixology. Tell you what: help me with a little job, and I'm sure I could knock you up something with a punch," I laughed inwardly, I knew one such thing that'd hang moonshine that this yokel drank out to dry.

"A-chuh, what ya need?" He smiled once again, each time allowing me to become accustomed to his horrific tombstone teeth.

"Well first, go have a bloody shower; you smell terrible. Be warned it's cold. And then come see me on the second floor in the computer technician office, we have some electricity to play with."
