even though no one really cares about my characters well being all that much i'll just act like i dont care lol

Aubry

I finally take off my headphones after about 15 minutes of complete silence. Gosh I needed that. I get up and slowly stretch out. My limbs feel like jelly and my head feels all fuzzy. I shrug off the weird feelings and sigh. When I get back to everyone their either gonna scream at me for my negligence or whatever, or not even notice that i was gone. Both will make me feel like crap. I unlock the door and walk to where i hear the most commotion.

Of course with my luck this isn't the normal complaining and arguing no. Its a full friggin attack. Just my luck. I'm not dumb enough to approach that fight, not by a long shot. I begin backing up and my eyes begin brimming with tears. At this rate one of those monsters will see me. And then they'll eat me. And then I die. I feel a long loud wail climbing up my throat as I try to hold back the tears. Well i'm gonna die anyway so i might as well distract those things from my group. I finally hit a wall and i slowly slide down it until i'm in fetal position. And then I let out the longest, loudest, most bloodcurdling scream ever known to man. The infected quickly turn around and start coming towards me. After five seconds of screaming I close my eyes and prepare for the end.

Clifford Jamers - Battle Scene with Aubry

I tried to get to the chemistry room, one of the only ones with no windows and a lockable gas chamber that I could fit at least a few of us inside, put infected came from all around us. I was fighting with both ends of my barbell, my arms were starting to strain and hurt, when from my left someone let out the loudest scream in the world. Even the infected paused for a second before ambling off towards the sound. I followed them, knocking down as many as I could, when I found Aubry huddled in a corner, eyes close. A wave of anger flashed over me, Why isn't she fighting back, before I remembered that she was always the weak one of the group, scared and helpless.

I fought through the crowd and grabbed her before she could take too much damage. With a grunt, I threw her over my shoulder and ran back to where the main group was fighting.

"To the cafeteria," I yelled over the noises of battle, "we can barricade that place and figure out what to do next from there."

Desmond

I was relieved that I had kept my gun fully loaded, because there was no time to pause. The infected were surrounding us and I was taking them out left and right. Someone suddenly screamed at the top of their lungs, causing everyone to stop for a moment. The zombies then began to lurch away from us towards the corner; Aubry! Why had she screamed like that, especially when she didn't have anything to defend herself with? Cliff quickly came to her rescue, fighting off the nearest zombies and throwing her over his shoulder.

"To the cafeteria," he shouted. "We can barricade that place and figure out what to do next from there."

The others start to run for the doors and I continue to open fire while running backwards.

"Hurry up!" Alex shouted, grabbing my arm.

"No, keep going! I'm gonna make sure they don't get through," I insisted.

She hesitated, but ran ahead anyways. I kept firing, taking them out one by one before sprinting the last ten yards and slamming the doors shut behind me.

"There's still a lot of them," I panted. "We need to- AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!"

I felt something jump on my back and dig its nails into my shoulder blades.

"It's a Jockey!" Chris gasped.

The thing was steering me back towards the doors, yanking my hair and sinking its claws deeper into my shoulders. "SOMEBODY TAKE MY F***ING GUN AND SHOOT IT!" I screamed, holding out my gun.

To my surprise Freya was the one who took it.

"GET IT IN THE HEAD! AHHHH!" I shouted, trying to turn so it faced her.

"I'm trying, hold still!"

"I can't, it's controlling me! IT'S LEADING ME TO THE DOORS!"

She lowered her head and looked through the scope. "I've almost got it! Keep it still for just a second!"

I planted my feet firmly on the ground, making the Jockey growl and yank my hair harder. "NOW! HURRY!"

There was a loud crack and I felt the Jockey's grip loosen. She shot it again and it fell backwards, hitting the floor with a loud thud. I fell to my knees, my back feeling like it was on fire and my head hurting from where it used my hair as reins. Freya put my gun in front of me.

"Thanks," I whispered to Freya. "I would've died."

Freya nodded. "You're welcome."

Richard: Cafeteria

I was keeping as far away from the fray as humanely possible, dispatching the dead who were stupid enough to approach me with a quick slice to throat or stabs into the gut. Naturally, I arrived into the cafeteria first, and hundreds of ideas ran through my head, my brain sorting those which were possible and more efficient. The others started to fall into the room behind me but I paid them no mind: I was busy.

Short on firearms- the vast majority of us wielding blades- power’s out- bows were left in the tech department- barricades will last… for about ten minutes- what do we have?

I gazed around searching for anything that could possibly help… and then I realised, a plan fell into place inside of my mind:

The drink vendors in the corner contained bottles- perfect for improvised explosives. We can make two things to fight these things: flashbangs and molatovs. The science labs are just past the staff room, if we can grab some magnesium and ethanol, we can make some ammunition to throw at these bastards…

I heard Desmond’s voice from behind me. “Anybody got a plan,” he panted.

“Right here.” I turned to them, still analysing the possibilities, but sure of the conclusion that this could work.

“Let’s hear it then,” he nodded.

“Okay then. These Zombies are great in numbers, so it’s obvious that without sufficient firearms, shooting isn’t much of an option, at the same time, however, neither is melee, simply because they can swarm us.”

The others nod and juggle their heads in agreement. And I continue.

“So, my suggestion is fire; it spreads quickly, inextinguishable to the infected, and lethal. As well as this, the power’s out, and furthermore, fire sprinklers will not go off. To combat the horde of infected on the exterior, I just had a brainwave that broke through, despite the fact it was staring us straight in the face:
“Magnesium reacts violently with heat, emitting a bright white light that can cause permanent damage to the retina, blinding infected in the vicinity. This, coupled with the extreme flammability of ethanol, can be combined in a plastic bottled from the vending machines used to blockade the cafeteria.” I pointed to the machines around the perimeter. I wasn’t aware of the actions of the other survivors, I was too busy obsessing with my plan. “When tissue paper is lit, trailing into the bottle, the ethanol with create a vast expanse of fire, while the magnesium will blind everything in the area- we’ll just have to cover our eyes.

“So with that, we’ll have improvised flash-fire grenades- easily extinguished with some CO₂ canisters in the science department.” I smiled, an uncommon event in itself, and examined the expressions of the rest of my teammates, awaiting their opinions.

Aubry

"You can put me down now Cliff..." i whispered softly to him. He put me down lightly on my feet and looked at me with a bit of annoyance and something else. Anger probably. I sighed and walked to the other side of the group so he wouldn't have to even look at me anymore. I'm such an idiot. I risked his life just because i thought that i had been helping. I look down in shame while the group agree's with whatever Richard just said.
While everyones discussing the plan i sit on one of the uncomfortable cafeteria chairs and watch the group. I watch as Freya approaches Cliff with a worried look on her face and places her hand on his shoulder. For a fraction of a second im jealous but then it goes away just as quickly. She could fight, and protect him if need. But what could I do? Just scream and have him risk his life time and time again to pick me up and save me. Its been a whole year and what have I done. Fix up minor cuts and bruises. But then I notice Desmond in the back of the group nursing a few bleeding cuts on his shoulder.
"Desmond, let me check those out." I call out to him.
He approaches me slowly, looking at me warily. He finally sits down next to me and waits. I dig into my ever present slim back pack and find my emergency proffesional first aid kit.
" I need you to take off your shirt dude. I can't patch these things up if its all covered." I say in serious mode. His cheeks burn a cute shade of red as he slowly lifts up his shirt and reveals his abs. In my head I tell myself that I'll worship the mental image of them later. I cleaned the cuts and bite with alcohol pads and patched them up neatly and pristinely in gauze.
"You shouldn't have screamed like that Aubry." He says while I'm putting the gauze on.
"I had thought that I was going to die anyways so it might as well have been for something," I say quietly " Especially to help the people I care and love for most." I get up after patching him up ad say "You look dehydrated. I'll go get you a water bottle."
I walk quickly to the back of the cafeteria towards where the food was cooked and sit down on the ground next to the huge supply of water bottles that used to be served with lunch. I sigh and put my head back. I just need to relax for a second. I put my headphones back in and then commence to my relaxing.

I sat on the table, taking deep breaths. I decided I would go and help with the explosives one I regained my breath.

I saw Desmond walk in, a gash on his shoulder. Aubry made it over to him before I did - I sucked at first aid anyway. As I finally came back to reality I was the first to hear the shuffling.

It was too late.

"Guys! They're hear!" I yelled, looking over to my shoulder. "Someone go and tell them lot to hurry up with those goddamn explosives" I instructed, a lot of them looked at me in shock - half of them hadn't hear me talk much nevermind yell.

Desmond had stood up, I ran over to him. "I need you and few of the others to keep them distracted - keep 'em facing forward" I said to him, he looked at me confused and obviously wanting an explanation to what I was doing. "Just do it"

I picked up my baseball bat, and a gun lying around - swinging it over my shoulder. Before running out the backdoor. "WHERE THE HELL IS SHE GOING?" Someone screamed, angry. I ran round the School and through the door the infected had entered, following their trail.

Desmond had done as I said, and was yelling at them to distract them. I snuck up them, someone shot one and it almost fell onto me but I swiftly moved out. Bashing two on the head with the baseball bat.

Then another. Whoever was shooting on the other side of the herd had a brilliant aim. After I managed to kill a third, and confuse another - one by one they started to notice. I'd avoided using the gun until this point, since the gunshot would only get me noticed - but I pulled it from my shoulder.

This was the first time I'd shot a gun before, but one year of watching people practise aim made me feel like an expert.

I shot two, before I could finally see into the cafeteria. Clifford was about the throw one of the explosives before he noticed me, if he threw that the zombies wouldn't be the only one getting killed. I looked behind me, noticing that there was a new herd.

These were just normal infected right? A bit dozy. I took my chances and ran through the pack in front of me, since they was weaker. The same way I used to in the packed hallways at school - After a year I still didn't have a jacket, earning a few scratches.

I thought I was through, Clifford was hesitating. I was pulled back by my shirt, before Desmond grabbed my wrist, the same way I had when I'd told him to come to the cafeteria - pulling me forward and out the zombies grasp. Clifford finally saw he could throw the explosive and told us to duck and keep our eyes closed so we weren't to be blinded.

Commotion, commotion, commotion. There was always something. I sigh and get up to see that there is a new full scale fight going on. I take a random piece of plywood with a large nail sticking out of it and decide that its time for me to start protecting myself. How convinient that i decide on this during a full scale attack. I hit one slow infected in the temple before running to the rest of the group in fear of the large stockpile of infected lumbering towards us. Oh boy.

Rick's POV:

"WAIT!!!!!" I shouted. Everyone seemed to forget I was still outside at the moment they went into the cafeteria and I had been outside fighting infected at the moment. They seemed to hear me and resisted throughing the bomb. While they resisted I noticed that the forces inside the building, due to me quickly re-rigging the doors with some heavy-duty, non-guns weaponry, mostly fire, had dwindled down to 75, exactly on the dot. I knew this due to my quick counting skills I had acquired to judge how safe it was to travel through infected areas on my way to the school. I had handled more then this myself before, even 165 to be exact. I jumped on the wall and parkoured my way through. I jumped off and slashed a straight line reduceing 7 forces then landed precisely on ones head and ran with my blades indenting on the ones on my sides. Since they managed to get in a relatively smooth line, that demolished the forces by another 46 zombies. I then did a frontflip off of the last ones head and took a straight shot forward, killing the rest of the zombies that surrounded the cafeteria. That was the biggest workout I had in ages, but I needed it. It just showed everyone why they held me as an important aspect when we first met.

I walked in, exhausted from the killing. "Alright," I said, "Now burn the bodies." They did as I asked and that solved the problem. "That was some workout people. Keep a closer eye on the numbers next time and you might just realize that the numbers aren't as bad as they seem," I say smothered in zombie blood. "Now get to the showers and clean up before you end up getting infected from the blood of those things." I said as I began to walk towards the gym's showers. The only thing I could think of at the time was who I saw in the zombie pile. I saw my whole family and my BF.

NOTE FOR EVERYONE:
I did not god-mod my character. He does have limits, one of which is human exhaustion. He only now is capable of killing 100 zombies without exhausting and even 1 more could be the end of him. He also still holds human emotions and can be weakened easily. Now that he took on those 75 zombies, he won't be able to handle much more for the next day. I am noting this so I don't get PM's saying, "you're god-modding" and "you're a hypocrite."

Richard: English Department

Turned out my flash-fire grenades weren't needed after all- Rick had managed to kill infected so quickly and efficiently that no tactical initiative was required. All my projectiles were useful for was burning the bodies, but I'd saved the bottles and magnesium into my personal stash in my self-delegated room on the second floor, room 62 in the english department. Literacy was where I was home.

The pungent odour of burning flesh hung in the air, but it was a scent that you eventually got used to in times like these. In front of me I held a book, 'Othello' by Shakespeare, but that was only an outwards facade- in my mind was a scheme; I was constantly making them.

Would it be possible to sail across the pacific to England? I guess that's wishful thinking, unless of course I could hot-wire a yacht, but that's far beyond my area of expertise. I could always look up how to drive a plane on the internet...

I sniggered to myself. Yeah, that's totally gonna happen.

I threw the book across the classroom and circled around and around, thinking about what plans were even remotely plausible to get me back home. It'd be there I could make peace with myself and get all this bereavement and reminiscence off my mind, at least I hoped so. I let out a deep sigh and stuck my hands behind my head as drowsiness started to claw at my consciousness (despite the fact I had done the least within the group), and I thought about taking a rest again; it wasn't like I got much sleep in the med room anyway.

I rolled up the midnight blue blind at the back of the class, gazing out onto the scuffed green, overgrown field that seemed miles away from me. Many of the infected were gone, only very few remained; it was quite surprising it had taken us a year to clear all of the school grounds, but the fulfillment was glorious, and, what was more? It had seemed that nature's beauty was starting to take control: something I had wished for since I was eleven- not that I'd tell the others that. I'd lost a lot, much like the rest of us, but this apocalypse seemed like a gift to the world, the lake of jet trails in the sky and the noise of cars as they rushed by made the world so much more... pure.

As I went to turn around I saw a grey figure, still clutching its face, stumbling into the distance as the orange evening sky closed a chapter on another day. Smiling in solemn appreciation, I wandered to my desk and began to write in my journal of events.

Right, everyone go to the DT thread, we can discuss things there. The link is on the first post of the SB... I think

Twelfth of August 2014

It was havoc today, not only did I have to deal with a Witch that somehow got in, it became apparent that we had postponed the cull of the infected occupying the field at the back of the school much too long, as we suffered a seemingly unprovoked attack. My studies of the infected have revealed that for a full-scale horde to launch an assault have shown that they almost always require a stimulus to aggravate them, but no such thing did I notice today, unless, of course, my fellow survivors managed to trigger such behaviour.

Regardless, a celebration of sorts should be in order: the grounds of the school are now habitable by us, save for a few infected that can be easily dealt with. I may suggest to our unofficial leader, Desmond, that it would be wise to expand our fortifications to the perimeter of the field, and perhaps even considering building some kind of agricultural area; after all, we can only last on cereal and tinned foods for so long. To achieve this, we will have to certainly begin surveying the area around us to find establishments such as: supermarkets, convenience stores, pharmacies, clothes stores and even petrol stations to stock up on body burning fuels.

Another thing that came to my attention in hours past was how close the scrape was with the infected had turned out to be. I think the entire team was astonished how lethal Rick turned out to be with his dual daggers. Despite this, it would be a clever idea to send a scouting party out to find a gun store or something, lest there be a fatality at the hands of an even larger horde, or even worse... a Tank. It is my opinion that we need to make full advantage to the space and facilities that this school provides, or else we may end up with major depression problems and furthermore civil conflict- which nobody wants. As the autumn draws closer, we'll need to think about returning power to the building, otherwise we may end up living like neanderthals around a fire.

Tomorrow, I'll propose my ideas to the others, but until then, I will rest up for the hopefully busy schedule that we'll have for the next couple of weeks.

Signing off, Richard.

Clifford Jamers - ???

I sat down at one of the lunch tables, exhausted, a hot turkey sandwich sitting in front of me, bread soggy, no cheese. The food was never very appetizing here, even when school was in, but it was something and for that I was grateful, especially since I'd skipped breakfast to take someone's shift. The sandwich was gone in seconds.

A lot of people were injured, nothing major from what I could see, but I'd still have to go around and check for any bites. I turned to Aubry who was sitting next to me and pulled the headphones out of her ears. She turned on me with a glare and I met her with a smile.

"Mind gathering everyone for me, dear," I asked nicely as I could through my exhaustion. I left before she could answer though, so if she agreed or not I don't know. I walked over to Desmond who was grabbing a plate of food and guided him towards an empty table.

"Up," I said, taking a rag from my pocket. Once he hopped up I started wiping blood away from possible bite areas. "So that was crazy. We're going to need to relocate if it happens again, somewhere safer, but we always knew the school wouldn't hold up forever. I'm surprised it's been safe for this long already."

Desmond

I was grabbing my own lunch when Cliff came over to me, a rag in his hand. "Up," he said simply.

Setting my food down, I took off my shirt and he began to clean the blood off my back and arms.

"So that was crazy," he murmured. "We're going to need to relocate if it happens again, somewhere safer, but we always knew the school wouldn't hold up forever. I'm surprised it's been safe for this long."

I opened my mouth to protest, but I realized he was right. "Yeah," I sighed. "I just don't know where else we could go. At least here it's spacious and empty, and it's easy to survey the land."

He nodded. "If it happens again, I think we'll just have to run for it. We were lucky to have Rick today though. He really saved us."

I grunted in agreement. I admit, I had underestimated Rick. He really proved himself today, and I think we were all surprised.

"Well, there's no bites," Cliff said, turning me slightly to double check my arms and chest. "I'll just put some ointment on them. Leave your shirt off for a while to let them breathe and then I'll come back and bandage them in a bit."

I turned back to my food, but I could feel a blush creeping into my cheeks. I felt awkward with my shirt off, feeling as though everyone was staring at me. I was in good shape, but I still didn't want people to stare. My dad had always said muscles were just flashy; the best fighters used their brain.

"You can have the strongest muscles in the world, but it means nothing if you don't use your biggest muscle; your brain," he used to say. "Strategy always beats strength."

I smiled wistfully at the memory. Technically, the brain wasn't a muscle, but he was right anyways. I just wished that I could've finished school and gone to college like he wanted...

"Desmond? Can I see you for a minute?" Alex asked me.

I turned to face her, my face flushing again. "Um, sure."
I will review for you! PM about it if you need one!
