I listen, the hairs on the back of my neck standing straight up, and feel my face drain of color. Looking back at Jackie, I hold the two closer and take a deep breath.
Just stay calm. I won't let anything happen to you or Hales.
I'm never what I like I'm double sided And I just can't hide I kind of like it When I make you cry 'Cause I'm twisted up, twisted up Inside
A little girl appears in the main hallway, staring into my eyes. My face going pale, I barely hear what Nic says to be by mind message and stand. She takes a step closer the more I make my way to the door and freeze, reconizing her.
Wait...is that me?
All you need is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie-dust!
I go even paler at the sight of the boy. I'm...a ghost? Or whatever that is.... The girl slams into Jackie and I snap out of my shock, hating the cold look in the guy's eyes. I bolt to Jacks and drop to my knees, easing her fall. I wrap my free arm around her stomach and tilt her neck back to help her breathing, praying to all things holy that everything happening was over with.
"Leave her alone," I beg, "We'll leave. Just leave her alone."
I'm never what I like I'm double sided And I just can't hide I kind of like it When I make you cry 'Cause I'm twisted up, twisted up Inside
The little girl comes out the other side of me, her face blank with expression, "Why are you here?" she asks, moving to the boys side. I catch my breathing again and sit up, breathing heavily.
Her icy white eyes melt into mine and I swallow.
All you need is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie-dust!
"Your home?" She says, outraged. She runs through me but doesn't come out, my eyes closing before opening again, eyes white, "What makes this your home?"
All you need is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie-dust!
