I nod, thinking, before sipping my drink, "Ew. Math," I shudder.

Jackie

We get to the school and I jump out, running inside while holding Nic's hand. We get to the playground and I see a huge blue light surrounding Halee. Holy sh*t.

I walk over to her, crouching before her, and see her eyes have turned a milky white, "Hales?" I try to touch her but get burned. Blue fire?

I look at Nic, swallowing, and wonder if it's just light or fire that she has. Halee giggles and reaches out, trying to touch the side of my face. She burns me again and I jump back, blinking, "Nic..." i could barely choke out.

Jace

I flash a smile at her, sipping my drink, "Exactly."

Nic

We get to the school and run inside, holding hands. Halee is in the middle of the playground, blue light surrounding her.

Oh no, baby girl. Why'd you pick up that one?

Jackie tries to get to her, but gets burned twice instead. I squeeze her hand in assurance before letting go and reaching into the light. Wincing, I force myself the rest of the way in and scoop Halee up. I close my eyes a second and send my own little shock-wave through, obliterating the light. She giggles and I open my eyes again, finding it's gone. Sighing, I walk back to Jackie and hold her close.

Rayah

I nod as our food gets here. I glance up at him, "I want to try going to work with you one day," I smile, "See what it's like."

Jackie

the light dissapears and I look at Nic, "What the hell was that?"

Jace

I smile and thank the waiter for our food, setting a napkin in my lap, "It'd be a little distracting with you there, but it would be pretty cool."

Nic

I kiss her forehead and shift Halee in my arms, her head resting on my shoulder, "Um...It's something to do with...my side of the family, I guess. I'll explain it to you..."

I glance around, uncomfortable with all these people listening.

"When we get home..."

Rayah

I study him, eating a bit of my food, "How would I be destracting?"

Jackie

I nod, taking Halee from Nic and carrying her back to the car, "You're coming back home with mommy and daddy for today," I tell her in a whisper. She giggles and nods again as I set her in the backseat.

Jace

I flash a smile, taking a few bites of my food before speaking again, "How would you not be?"

Nic

I follow them back to the car and get in, trying to think of how I told Jace to control it when he got it. We'll have to go see him. Or Alyx. Either know more about the power than I do.

Rayah

I study him, having a blonde moment, "I don't understand..."

Jackie

Wait a second. It's hot. It's like both fire...and light...

I don't start the car yet, thinking, "Nic, do you think it's blue fire? It was hot," I say.

Jace

I flash a smile and look up at her, "You really don't know?"

I look at her, "I don't know. Jace and Alyx would have a better idea. If I was able to touch it without consequence, it has something to do with what they can do. I can't do it though. Lost it after my first injury. Jace gained it. They'll know."

I shake my head, confused, "I don't."

sighing, I nod and start the car, Halee making a cry face. I don't start driving yet, looking back at her, "What's wrong, Hales?"

She points to my phone in my pocket and I hesitate before giving it to her. I'm going to so regret that.

She smiles and presses random buttons, giggling. I start driving and take a deep breath as I do.

Jace

I flash a smile and sigh. Because you're so freaking hot, Ray. The only person I want to ever set my eyes on.

I glance back at Halee before looking back at the road and sighing, "It'll be okay, Jacks. Jace was able to control it. I can make sure that Hales does too."

Rayah

My heart flutters and I feel like I want to kiss him right then and there, taking a sip of my water, "Well thank you," I chuckle, finishing half my food.

Jackie

I nod, pulling into the driveway, and get out to pick up Halee. I take her from the back seat and kiss her cheek before taking my phone from her, "You want to watch some T.V?" I lead her inside, smiling.

Jace

I smile and take her hand from across the table, sipping on my drink, "You're welcome."

I follow them in and smile at what she's saying to Halee.

Rayah

I smile and nod, squeezing his hand. I get a text from Jackie and pull my phone out of my pocket, checking it.

I chuckle a little bit, knowing what happened, and shake my head at it.

God, Jackie. Giving you're phone to Halee is a smart idea.

I turn the T.V on and set Halee down by it as she puts her hands to the screen. I sigh and plop down on the couch, watching her.

Jace

I smile back at her and sigh, finishing my food.

I plop beside Jackie and sigh, running a hand through my hair.

Rayah

I see my time is up and I finish my food, paying the bill before standing, "I gotta go back. See you at five o'clock, Jay," I flash a smile.
