I guess we'll have to keep it going until then Kaywiia. I could post again if you'd like and maybe have Sean start looking through all the intel he's managed to pick up ready to show the gang. Becky could do something similar, or you can have her driving back thinking about the conversation she's had with Sean?

"What is this?" The Captian looked over the papers as if he had never seen them before. I highly doubted that was the case.

Andrea better hope she has her shit straight.

"My resignation. I'm sorry sir, but my work here is done. I've been thinking lately, and I want to return to normal life. I've been on the run for a long time." Lying to him wasn't easy. No matter how hard he had pushed me, I owed much of my current knowledge to him.

"We'll, we're sorry to lose you Scout. You had a lot of promise, you know. You would have been good even if we didn't re-asign you to those gangs. You would have made a fine officer, in time." He smiled at me, though I was concerned for a moment at his words. I thought the whole point of my training was for the gang?

"I might come back," I lied, "someday."

I knocked on the door, then walked in, looking at Conrad again for the first time. He was staring up at the cieling, seemingly unaware of my entrance.

"Issacs-Con-how are you?" I was going to have to break the habit of using people's last names.

He looked over at me, then did the same double take every other member had, "You look different."

"They had my tattoos removed at the base. Wasn't military standard." I explained, forgetting I was still talking in military tone, "But how are you faring? I heard you were injured."

"Issacs-Con-how are you?" a familiar voice asks.

I break my staring contest with the ceiling and look over to find Becky, having to double take. Her tattoos.

"You look different," I say.

"They had my tattoos removed at the base. Wasn't military standard," she says, "But how are you faring? I heard you were injured."

I scowl at the mention of it and look back at the ceiling.

"Some b*tch shot me, brought me here," I say, "It was my fault, I guess. I ran."

I take a deep breath, an itching in my stomach.

"Other than that, I'm okay. Need a cigarette though," I flash a smile, looking back at her, "How about you? How've you been?"

The next morning I stood outside my mom’s house, a duffel bag in one hand and an unlit cigarette in the other, just staring up at the small house in front of me. For so long I’d called this place home. It was where I grew up and where my childhood memories were. A part of me didn’t want to leave it behind this way, but I knew I didn’t exactly have a choice. Even if Becky hadn’t come and told me that the team was getting back together again, I still would’ve had to leave all the same. The reality was the 9-0 knew about this place. Oscar knew about this place, and while I’d been lucky they hadn’t come looking for me here all this time, I knew I was pushing my luck if I stayed any longer.

With that, I lit my cigarette and threw the bag over my shoulder. Taking a long drag from the cigarette, I removed it from my lips and blew out a thick blanket of smoke into the crisp morning air. Instantly I felt calm, relaxed and in control. I looked down at my watch and realised I was only a few short hours away from reuniting with the rest of the gang again. I still had no clue why we were getting back together in the first place, but I knew that whatever it was, it was probably big. As I got into my waiting taxi, I unzipped the duffel bag revealing stacks of files, envelopes and classified documents - Intel that I’d managed to gather since the gang first split. I didn’t know exactly how much help it would be, but I was sure there was something in there that could point us in the right direction.

Whatever our mission was.

Forgive me guys, I've been out of town. Just got in quite early today-making updating my SB posts the first priority. Forgive me, guys. To make up for it, here's a sickeningly long post. Hope I got it right. :D Rated T for language, though.

Andrea

I watched Becky leave, feeling defeated for the first time in a long while. I turned back to Lucifer, sighing. "We're headed for Tyler. I think we'll tackle Sean tomorrow." Privately I hoped that Beck would already have gotten there.

"Where's Tyler now?" I asked Lucifer, running a hand over my face. "She had a flat, but it appears that she's abandoned it after some jerks from the CIA caught up with her - she split right after that.""Are you sure it's Tyler?""Positive"

She showed me the picture flashing on the screen. "How the he'll dd'you know this is Tyler? You've never seen her before." However, I could see plainly that it was. She was fitter and her hair was dyed red. I was just testing this kid, and she knew it. I looked at Lucifer. "So?""I'm sure that's her, Wildcard."

This girl definitely had skills. I knew which file of the Corts she must've seen, and I knew which photo she would've seen. It was a shot of the five of us - Becky, Con, Tyler, Sean and me - sitting in the living room of our old ohm, all squeezed on one couch together. We were laughing, as it was our first mission together and it had been a piece of cake. Sean and Becky were messing with each other, Con had his arms draped across the length, and was sitting on one side. I'd climbed the back and was doing a statue of liberty pose, with Tyler looking up at me and laughing.

I had a copy of that picture in my wallet. I looked at Lucifer - she was as young as we'd been - hell, we'd been younger. "Yes, that's Tyler." came a voice from behind. Con had limped down, and was staring at the computer screen. He looked like he was in pain, and I was sure it wasn't from the bullet wound.

"Con, dude, sit down. If Tyler saw this - " "If I saw it, what?" asked a familiar voice. Lucifer and I spun on our heels - Con tried and tripped over himself, falling. Before he hit the floor though, Tyler caught him - of course it was Tyler, who else could it be? - and supported him.

She helped him to the sofa and looked at him, concern and anger evident in her eyes. "Who shot-" "I shot him. As he was running away." said Lucifer, as she put away the gun she'd pulled out. I hadn't bothered, Tyler's voice was unmistakable. The selfsame girl looked ready to use one of her lethal poisons, though - she advanced a step forward and asked, "Who the fuck are you? And what're you-" "Long story. Shall we leave Con to rest here and go discuss it?" I asked, looking over at him. He nodded, waving us away, and pulling out his gun

An hour later, we emerged from one of the rooms to find Becky talking to Con. Her appearance had been disconcerting ever since I'd seen her first. Beck without her tattoos seemed as odd to me as penguins living in a desert.

She looked over at us, and I could see she was tired. Looking around, I noticed that everyone was tired. Con had noticed the same thing He suggested we sleep off the day. We nodded, and spread ourselves out. I'd developed an odd fondness for the couch, and thus slept on it, taking a blanket. Everyone else found a place in the room - on the floor or the other sofas, near the chairs - as if, by some silent consent, we'd agreed not to leave the room.

•-•-•-•-•-•-•

It must've been five or six int he morning when the knock came. It was light, and quiet enough that we would've missed it, if any of us had been asleep. I knew as we lay, that all of us was wrapped up in some private struggle or thought.

Hence, when the knock came, all five of us sat up. Tyler, who was closest to the door, got up to open it, revealing a very disheveled and tired Sean. He was haggard, his hair longer, and there were circles under his eyes, but it was Sean. Relief flooded the room, and all of us put down our weapons. Con got up, limped to Sean and gave him a handshake and a one-armed hug,"Finally, another guy. I swear I feel absolutely henpecked without you, dude." Becky smiled, and Tyler hugged him as I laughed. Lucifer hung back, watching. I didn't really care at the moment, though. My team was back.

As soon as Sean walked in, there was a mass movement to welcome him. I sat back and just smiled at him, we had already had our greetings.

Afet a moment, we all settled down arond a low, oak table. There was a vauge familiarity in the gesture, although so much had changed.

"Whatever we're doing," Sean said, "these might help." He pulled out a stack of papers, which spilled onto the table. One in particular caught my eye.

"How'd you get this file?" I asked, looking at it, then up at Sean. It regarded a mission I had been a part of several months prior, working alongside a few Navy Seals. I had gone along mostly to keep records, but also to watch and learn.

Sean responded, "I was looking for intel on what was going on wit the gang while you were all gone, I found that with your name on it-" He trailed off.

I looked it over, my eyebrows raising in confusion, "None of this is accurate. It says the mission was unsucsessful, but no one was hurt." I looked up, keeping my voice level, "I watched one of the toughest men I've ever known get shot down in cold blood, and we never acomplished our goal." My eyes went down to the bottom of the paper, where it bore the signiture of an officer, varifying its authenticity; "Somone messed with this file."

Hearing that I smirked at a new lead to get rid of some of the corrupt officials I got up and went over to my laptop that was turned off from the other day, I soon jump started it and soon was pulling up all the information that I had on the corruption. It all ranged from the reason of the gangs break up to present day on suspected corrupted officials. And then I pulled up the last page, my hit list of all the people I needed to go after at some point or another. One person's file caught my eye tho, an FBI agent by the name of Oscar Garcia, a year ago he had gone undercover in the Cort Gang on orders from superiors to see if it was worth keeping the Cort Gang around. After a recent job Oscar had called it in and said the Cort Gang was far to dangerous to keep around and that they would sooner or later turn on the police themselves when a certain target they planned on going after came up.

Deemed far to dangerous they disbanded the Cort Gang by the excuse of they weren't getting better and took Rebecca in for military training under the promise that they would be re banded, with the head cut off the snake the Cort Gang fell apart. And there was no intention's of allowing the Cort Gang back together, when the greetings were all up and done I looked up.

"Could everyone please take a seat? Time for a little show and tell on my end." I said.

They all looked at me, being someone who wasn't around previously I could still understand that they don't trust me at all. Lot of them remained standing so I started anyways, explaining to them what really happened a full year ago and then some.

"Oscar's right here in town, if you guys really want, you can hunt him down and kill him for his betrayal. I understand you guys don't trust-" My phone began to rang.

I took out my phone and looked at the caller id, I breathed deeply as I picked up and put it on speaker.

"Lucifer, reports say you have the full Cort Gang in your custody. I just wanted to ask if we were going to get the criminals alive or not?" The Police Chief Warren asks.

"Yea you'll get them, just when I say you will." I said shaking my head a no.

"I'm hoping soon, Lucifer, maybe we can set up an appointed time." He asks.

"Later." I said hanging up.

Hope this is okay. Just in case you guys were wondering this is when Becky finds out about how Oscar murdered those kids. Oh, and thanks musica for giving Sean that warm welcome. He really needed it :)

Sean Phoenix

“What the -” I couldn’t believe what I’d just heard with my own two ears. This couldn’t be possible. It was just another one of my bad dreams. I turned to look at the others, Andrea, Tyler, Con, and Becky, but their faces just reflected my own look of horror right back at me.

So this was possible.

Becky was shaking her head. “No. No way. This can't be happening.”

“Oh, believe me it can,” Lucifer answered. I still had no idea who she was but the look on her face told me she was serious. Deadly serious. “This is why I wanted to reunite this gang." She stared hard at each one of us. "You were sold out. All of you. Your Cort gang was never meant to help put an end to dangerous criminals in this city. No Cort gang was. It was meant to control the targets you went after.”

“But all our targets were legit,” I spoke up. “They all … somehow … had ties to the 9-0 -” before I could even finish my sentence, Lucifer was shaking her head.

“That’s what the department wanted you to think. The truth is they weren’t targets at all, they were just pawns, low-level criminals that the gangs could easily dispose of. The department made you think they were more important and dangerous then they actually were.”

“But why?” asked Becky, still stunned. "Why would they do that?"

“To keep you guys busy,” Lucifer answered simply. “To keep you guys from going after the real criminals.” She pulled out one of her own files and opened it up to reveal a picture of Oscar’s mug shot from when he was first arrested. “Just in case that phone call wasn’t enough to convince you just have a read of this one’s file. You’ll find everything from how the department sent him to a training facility during the years he was supposed to be behind bars, to how they struck a deal with him to keep an eye on your Cort gang in exchange for exonerating him for murder.”

Shit.

The entire room fell silent. A sinking feeling crept over my stomach and I turned to look over at Becky. Her face had paled for the worse.

“Murder? What are you talking about? What murder?” She met my gaze but I looked away.

This wasn’t how she was supposed to find out.

“Murder? What are you talking about? What murder?” Sean wouldn't meet my eyes. I picked up the paper, and skimmed the file.

...will exonerate Garcia for the murder of several children, in extange for his assistance-

...details of the murder include kidnapping and several injuries to all of the children besides their fatal wounds. Each boy had a gunshot through his head-

"Oscar did this?" I looked up and Sean, my mind suddenly numb. I had been in love with a man who had done this? We killed criminals. This was cold-blooded murder.

Sean still didn't answer.

I recollected myself, then read a little further.

Garcia was acomplised by two other members of his same gang, one by the name of Sean Phoenix and the other Mitch-

My heart stopped.

I looked over at Sean, who stood up and walked into another room, slamming the door behind him. I idled for a moment, deciding whether to follow him. It wouldn't be very professional.

"Go after him Becky, you know you want to." Con piped up, and I acknowledged his point with a nod.

I walked in the room where Sean was to find him sitting on a chair, staring down at his hands folded in front of him. I couldn't tell if he was crying. I hoped he wasn't.

"I tried to stop them," he whispered.

He didn't even have to tell me that. I knew it, knew he couldn't have killed anyone like that. Sean would never have done something of that nature. He wasn't a killer.

"I know that Sean, I know you did everything you can," I wasn't lying. I could feel the truth even as I spoke the words.

I bent down in front of him, sitting on my heels. I gently reached for one of his hands, hesitantly rubbing circles on the back of it, trying to comfort him. I looked at his eyes, and saw they were full of years of harbored pain.

In that moment, I would have done anything to take his pain away.

Becky took my hand in an attempt to comfort me but I couldn’t feel her touch. All I felt was an overwhelming wave of anger, hate, frustration and guilt sweep through me. “I’m fine,” I lied, moving my hand away from hers. I stood up from the chair and walked over to the window. I just couldn’t let Becky see me like this, so vulnerable and broken. I couldn't imagine how she must be feeling at the moment after finally finding out the truth about Oscar. And to think, it was all my fault for keeping it from her all these years.

“I’m sorry I didn't tell you,” I confessed. “I just knew it would hurt you and I didn’t want that -”

“I know,” Becky said, getting to her feet, “I know ...”

I couldn’t tell the emotion in her tone of voice, she managed to keep it contained. I let out a quiet sigh and put my head in my hands. Everything the new girl had just told us kept replaying over and over again in my mind like a broken record. Oscar’s file, the department corruption, the real reason why we were split up …

"They played me." I said, still unable to believe it even after everything I'd just heard and seen. "This whole time they had me think I was actually making a difference, that I was protecting this city from scum …”

"They played us all, Sean," said Becky. "We all believed it too."

I turned away from the window to face her and really looked at her for the first time since we split all those years ago. “Not anymore,” my gaze was cold, hard and unwaveringly determined. “It’s time we started going after the real criminals in this city. Starting with that piece of shit, Oscar …”

I walked out of the room, Sean following close behind me. A new wave of determination was in his eyes.

I looked at the group, quickly analyzing strengths; "Lucifier and Con, I want you both working together to track any new information we have on the officers."

Lucifer raised an eyebrow, "What should we look for?"

"Anything you can find about location, weaknesses, stregnths, anything useful to track and kill the officals." I skimmed the room again, "Andrea and Tyler, I want you two to look through the files Sean gave us and see what's useful in there. Actually, Sean, you work with Andrea. You know whats in those files better than Tyler does. Tyler, I want to work with you and organize what we have avaiable to us as far as weaponry and connections."

Tyler and I walked over to the kitchen area, and sat down at the table. I pulled a few blank pieces of paper of the counter, and stared at them. My pulse was racing, and I could feel a headache coming on. Too much excitement at once.

"What kind of connections do you have at the base?" Tyler asked.

I took a deep breath, "I just submitted my resignation, but I might still be able to get information from some people there."

I don't believe any of what I'm hearing. Oscar? Again? How much more trouble would he cause us? Remaining as collect on the outside as I could, I listen to the rest of the discussion. Lucifer...She bothers me. She's a puzzle, one of which I'd rather not solve but can't help myself from trying.

"Lucifier and Con, I want you both working together to track any new information we have on the officers." Becky orders.

I glance at Lucifer as she raises an eyebrow and questions what to look for.

"Anything you can find about location, weaknesses, stregnths, anything useful to track and kill the officials." Becky replies.

I drone out the rest, realizing that it would just be me and Lucifer on this one. The others would be set with each other. How wonderful...I get stuck with the girl who shot me down. This ought to be interesting.

As Becky moves to continue giving out instructions, I walk out back and light a cigarette, very aware of Lucifer following me out.

"You have contacts, do you not?" I ask without looking at her, "We'll go through those first. Start with locations and identities. Everything else can be pieced together later."

I take a deep breath of the smoke before turning to her.

"And refrain from shooting me again, please," I say, "I'm definitely not worth the bullet."
