I caught Kayla gently as she stumbled. I was beginning to get used to teleporting, so I was a bit more used to it by now. I had been Ramere's 'test subject'.
Ramere.
Three thoughts popped into my mind at once. They weren't really connected in any way.
I was still blazing mad at him.
He wasn't a very good teleporter. I knew that from experience, so there was no telling where we were now...
Every time a mage teleported with x number of people, the amount of power needed increases dramatically with each person. Even when it was just the two of us, maybe Natan too, it had cost Ramere a lot of power. To think of the power needed to teleport eight people, plus a wolf...
Crap. I turned, looking for him, my anger momentarily vanishing with my concern. I spotted him, propped up against the trunk of a tree, with Arabella kneeling in front of him. His eyes were closed, and even from a distance I could tell his breathing was heavy. I didn't know if he was conscious or not, but a moment later his lips moved in reply to something Arabella said. I sighed weakly in relief, hugging Kayla closer to me.
"Are you alright?" I asked
Be the cartoon heart. Light a fire, light a spark. Light a fire, flame in my heart. We'll run wild, we'll be glowing in the dark.
I knelt beside Ramere, one hand resting gently on his arm.
"Are you all right?" I murmured. He nodded, breathing heavily. "Im' sorry I couldn't warn you sooner, I wasn't sure of what would happen," I continued, speaking quickly.
"Wait...you did that?"
"Yes."
"I never pegged you to be that strong," he commented, obviously surprised.
"It's not something I make obvious," I replied, silently thanking the heavens he wasn't bleeding.
Cara looked up at him. "I know I should be able to, b-but I've never been able to before. And I guess my gut just wont let me." She laid her head back on his chest and sighed, "I'm sorry, I just couldn't stand it if you or your family get hurt."
"But it is better just me. They will leave y'all alone." She said, all of this was tearing at her heart. SHe didn't want to leave him, but she didn't want them getting hurt because of her.
"No nessacarily. They will know we know about their plans." He reasoned.
"Still, they want me not y'all. If I leave they will leave you alone." She argued.
Cara's senses ran wild. She felt her arms slowly moving up around his neck and she leaned into the kiss. When he pulled away her sense were still realing. She was breathless and didn't know what to say.
"I-I" SHe started but he put a finger to her lips.
Cara felt like she was walking on air. She followed him and helped as much as she could to help. When the fire was started she laid her head against his should and just looked in it.
"Why did you kiss me?" She asked looking up at him.
