Autumn's Beginning, Autumn's Breeze [2]

**Urm....here I go?**

Arabella--

Lucky for myself, I had used my own magic to recloak myself. Xadivn did not notice me, nor did anyone else. No one noticed that there were a few less mages in the camp, because I stealthfully killed at least 3 of them while Xadivn was speaking.

Suddenly, I noticed a large amount of chaos. Instaed of diving into the group, I began slaying the few idiotic mages who were standing a good ways away from the fight. THey were the weaker mages, the easy targets. Once they were taken care of, I moved on to the large group.

Kayla

I could tell that Caspan's voice was shaking as much as his hands. Was he really that afraid that I might have been hurt? That thought brought tears to my eyes. Nobody had ever cared that much about me, as far as I could remember.

"I'm sorry," I said. I didn't know why I was sorry, neither of us needed to be sorry. But the words came out anyways. "I'm sorry I scared you."

Caspan-

I smiled slightly and lifted her head so that I was looking into her eyes.

"You have absolutely nothing to be sorry for, love. Nothing at all."

Kayla

We stayed there in that perfect moment for as long as possible. But the sounds of the battle drew us back. Caspan sat me down on the ground and made sure I had my dagger ready just in case.

*That's all I got*

Caspan-

I handed Kayla one of my extra daggers, telling her that two was always better than one. Then, with a swift kiss to the forehead and a murmured command to 'Stay put', I fled into the battle.

Anger boiled in my blood at seeing Ramere, but i forced it down to a simmer until this whole ordeal was over and I had the time to spend on torturing him in every way I knew. That would be fun.

Casting the thought aside, i focused on more pressing matters. Like the fact that we were surrounded by at least five most-likely powerful wizards. The one i had heard Ramere call Xadvin, stood in front, only feet away from Ramere. I wondered why either of them didn't lash out...

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw one of the mages go down without a sound. His body crumpled, his face held the look of shock even as it stiffened in death.

I edged my way over to Christian, Storm, and Richard. "Did you see that...?"

Christian

"That was Ramere, I think," I said.

"Crap..." Caspan said, "he's good."

I nodded and threw my dagger at a mage. right in the middle of the chest.

Caspan-

I nodded to my brother. "You're not such a bad aim after all."

He made a rude gesture towards me, but I didn't take notice. My gaze went to another mage who sank to the ground, much like the first, the same look of shock plastered onto his face. Now only three mages remained, not including Xadvin.

I glanced at Ramere. His face was emotionless, his gaze deeply abstracted. His hands clenched and unclenched unconsciously at his side.

I wondered if it was really him killing the other mages. And of so, then Xadvin either wasn't paying any attention or he didn't care.

Or he didn't know.

Did Ramere know?

And if it wasn't Ramere killing the mages...then who?

Cara-

Cara was scared to death, she didn't like being so close to these mages again. Fire stayed close to her listening and watching everything that moved.

I don't like this. She said worridly,

Me either. If they spot you we're out of here! Fire replied.

Ok.

Richard

I took a couple of steps back, notching an arrow to my bow and drawing the string back, but not firing at anyone. I looked around carefully, hoping I wasn't alerting whoever was killing the mages.

Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a single figure, hidden in the shadow of the trees, but didn't attack them, wary of what had happened to the mages. Besides, if they were their enemy, surely they were our ally.

"Don't look now," I muttered, "But they're at the edge of the forest, over there." I jerked my head in the direction of the figure, even as another mage crumpled.

Arabella--

I was crouched in the forest, out of sight of the others. I hadn't been able to do anything helpful while actually in battle, but now that I was out of sight, everything became easier.

The mages crumpled at my will.

They had hardly any amount of magic...so why were they trying to take over the Tower?

With a flick of my wrist, another mage fell to the ground.

These aren't the real mages my mind screamed as I killed another. They're decoys.

Pausing, I zeroed in on Xadvin.

His readings weren't...normal. He wasn't nearly as strong as he seemed.

Even as I began to think this, his appearance began to change, until he looked almost identical to many of the other mages around him.

Kayla

I saw the girl Cara sitting on the ground hiding a little ways away. I decided it would be a good idea if we weren't so spread out. Right? I hoped I was right. I inched towards her and sat down. The wolf with her growled until he realized it was me.

We sat there with our knees drawn to our chests. One of the mages came in front of us, glaring down at us.


Christian

I saw a mage towering over where I had made Cara promise to stay so I could make sure she was safe. Anger boiled in me. I ran over and easily killed him. I dropped to my knees and wrapped my arms around her.

"Are you alright?" I asked with concern.

Cara---

Cara had started shaking when she saw the mage. She grabbed the knife in her skirt, but found it was gone. Fear racked her whole body, she saw Christian kill the mage and then felt his safe warm arms wrap around her.

"Are you alright?" He asked concern dripping from his words. She nodded burrying her head in his chest.

"I am now." She breathed clutching to him tightly.



Storm---

***Don't know how long I"ll keep him. He doesn't really do anything***

Storm fought alongside the others keeping his emtions in check. THe last thing they needed was a storm. It wouldn't help either side.

Ramere-

I blinked as the form of Xadvin disappeared, replaced by another version of the other mages. They had all turned into the same person...?

Then I knew.

I cursed violently and spun to the others. This was going to be risky, and I'd probably end up hurting myself or something going wrong, but it had to be done. Curse the mages!

I ran to Caspan and Storm, pulling them with me as I ran towards Arabella who still crouched in the woods, pulling her along too. I went to Christian, Richard, Kayla and Cara. I ushered them up quickly, hearing chanting behind me.

"Grab onto me or someone who is holding onto me! Quickly!"

I began hurriedly mumbling a spell, waving my arms and drawing quick symbols in the air. I hoped beyond hope I wouldn't mess up, but I didn't have the time to take my time.

Finally I finished and drew in a deep breath as we began to spin. Or maybe it wasn't us spinning, but the world around us...I never had had the care enough to find out or ask.

Then we disappeared. Just in time, too. I felt a searing heat touch the side of my face just as we teleported to, what I hoped to be, far enough away to keep the mages from finding us again for a few days at least.

Christian

When the teleporting stopped I was still holding tight to Cara, I had no real intention of letting her go any time soon. I had almost lost her! No way was I about to let her go too soon.

"What was that?" She asked.

"Teleportation."

"Oh. I don't think I like that."


Kayla

Oh dear, things were still spinning and I was sure we weren't about to teleport again. I tried to take a step and stumbled, to be caught by Caspan.

"Careful," he chuckled.

Cara--

Cara burried her face in Christian's chest and held him tightly. That was scary! Fire growled. She ignored him though.

"W-why did we do that?" She stuttered.
