The Challenge. (Started; accepting w/permission)

zohan

The other team reached the shore first, but we weren't so far behind. i saw a huge fish from below the surfaces. i think it was what rose saw.It came up and i could see how huge it was as it drew near. it was really huge. it pushed our kayak forward until we reached the shore too. that was one power boost

Rosette/ Almost to shore

"Yes!" We're almost there! Just then, a big wave swells up and pushes us forward. Good luck! We are almost there, but then we see that Andy's team has won. They are cheering...
"No! We're too late!" says Warren.
"We can go for second place I guess." I reply. We make it to dry land, and I hug my team mates. "You all did great. Second place isn't bad. We'll find food."

Mario

Both of the other teams had jumped out of the kayaks, which allowed us to catch up. We started passing the second kayak.
"Guys! We're falling behind!" I snap back, and Noah and Teal both tense up.
"Do you think we can't see that?" Teal answers angrily.
"Oh shut up. Paddle." I have a piece of gum, and I start chewing it harder.
"Idiot," Teal murmurs, dipping her paddle faster. That sends us in a little circle, and I scream at her again. Finally she drops the paddle, letting it float away. "Fine, you paddle." She mocks, crossing her arms. Noah and I try to pick up the pace and find a new rhythm, but Andy's team reaches the shore ahead of us. The next team does second, and we arrive seconds later.
"Great, we lost. Thanks, Teal." I swing my bag over my shoulders and move through the waist high water, not even bothering to walk fast.

Warren-
We make it to shore in second place, which isn't the worst thing in the world, but it sure isn't first. I thumb through my pack to find my plant book, then start looking around the shore for things that look edible.
"Hey, Rose, Zoran," I call, "I think I found some berries." After cross-checking with my book to make sure they're the right ones, I pick a handful, putting them in a pocket of my pack.

zohan

Warren seemed to really get on with looking for food the moment we stepped foot on the island. He picked up some berries and started putting them in the pocket of his bag. The berries looked familiar. I stared at them carefully, and finally, it comes to me.
"Stop!" I yell, smacking the berries a of his hand. "Thats water hemlock, its really poisonous, its been known to cause death." Warren looks at me unsuringly. I lean closer to see his book, "Warren, Where did you get this book? Is there someone who hates you?" I ask.

Warren-
Out of nowhere, Zohan slaps my hand. I stare at her surprised.
"That's water hemlock, it's really poisonous, it's been known to cause death," he says. I glance back down at my book and she does too, then she acts if there's anyone who hates me.
"I-I don't think so," I say, "are you telling me that everything in this book is wrong?" Panic is rising in my throat. She flips through the pages, then nods. I sigh.
"At least I know what to avoid now," I say, putting the book back in my pack, "thanks, Zohan. You probably just saved my life."

Noah -

Me and Mario get out of our kayak, Mario is obviously mad at Teal. It's not like I'm not a little disappointed that we lost, but I'm sure we'll do better next round.

"I'm sure we'll do better next round" I said aloud,

Mario sighed loudly and broke into a stream of obscenities, and Teal looks at me and mutters.

"Maybe," - was the only word that I could make out, she broke into a stream of obscenities as well.

Brigid|Beach

"Nice," I remarked, taking a look at Katherine's lavish picnic. The food had been laid out on a beach towel, just a few yards from the water. There were sandwiches, pizza, apples, oranges, berries, chips, carrots, and cookies, and a large bottle of Gatorade for each of us.

Rylet, Andy, and I sat down on the beach towel and grabbed sandwiches. I hadn't been expecting much, but the food was actually really good. I was tempted to just dig in and stuff my face, but I made myself eat slowly. It would be a bad idea to eat too much, especially since we didn't know what the next challenge was.

"You guys eat as much as you want," I said to Andy and Rylet. "I'm just going to get what I need, and stuff a little more into my backpack."

"Yeah, that's a good plan," Rylet agreed. "We don't want to be completely stuffed."

I took a sip of my Gatorade. "So what do you think the next challenge will be?" I asked.

"No clue," Andy answered.

"Katherine will probably tell us soon, though," Rylet added.

Andy|Picnic

"Mmm! This is really good!" I say. I eat some of the food but stuff the less perishable items into my pack. "I'm not hungry anymore. I'm going to get a look around okay? I'll be back later." I see Rose sitting under a tree looking for something in her pack.
"Hey!" I say. "Um... er... Do you want this? I don't like pizza." I hand her my slice of pizza. I stride off not waiting for her to object. I don't know why but I feel sort of responsible for her. She reminds me too much of my sister. Just then Katherine makes an announcement and we gather around.

Katherine|Beach around 7:00 p.m.

"Good job everyone! You all did great. You're all staying for today. Here are your tents.

You can start setting up now. You won't use tents every night but tonight we're issuing them because it's your first night out and I don't know how much you all know about living in the wild. I don't want any of you freezing overnight. I'm just kidding. But honestly, try to keep warm. It can get pretty chilly here. I will be sending a barrel of clean water to each tent so you can fill up your water bottles and get a drink. After that you guys are free to rest. Tomorrow is a big day! Here is the list of who is in which tent."

What kind of stuff is in the tent? Blankets? or sleeping bags?

I'm starving! I sit down under a tree, and start looking in my backpack for the piece of hard bread that I had packed.
Just then, Andy comes up to my and says, "Uh, do you want this? I don't like pizza." He gives me a piece of warm pizza. I look at him, and he looks a bit sad.
"Thanks!" I say, but he has already walked away. I think he was very kind to do this.
As soon as I finish the pizza, I look around for Zohan and Warren. SLAP!
"Zohan! Why did you hit Warren?" Just then, I see that Warren is holding hemlock.
"Warren! Drop that! It's poisonous, and it might give you a rash!" I say. He looks surprised, but drops the berries anyhow. He looks scared. "Are you okay?"

Setting up camp

"Uh, hi. I'm Rosette. Do you want me to call you Teal or Lydia?" I say to Teal.
"Teal." she replies. I tell her that we should set up camp. I grab a bag that has the tent supplies in it, and carry it to a nice dry spot of land. I know a lot about tents, so we get it up very quickly. It looks quite comfortable.
After we put it up, Katherine comes with a big barrel of water.
"Will we be able to find water on the mountain? I can fill this waterbag up a lot, but it'll weigh more..."
She looks at me, and then replies.

Warren/ On the Island
"Are you okay?" Rosette asks. I nod.
"I think so," I say, but I'm shaken. I check over everything else in my pack several times. It's really creepy to know that there was someone who wanted me dead when I have no idea who it could be. I'm starting to go through my pack again for the fifth time, when Katherine calls everyone into a group and medes out the tents. I'll be sharing one with Noah.
I know a thing or two about putting up tents; I read an article about it, but I've never actually put up a tent.
"How much do you know about tents?" I ask Noah, hoping he'll be a bit more experienced than me. It'll probably take me an hour or two to put it up if he doesn't know anything about it, but I could get it up eventually. I think.

zohan


I had no idea how i was supposed to set up a tent. I stared at the thing for hours and watched as others did it. I finally knew what i was suppose to do from watching them, but i didn't set it up. another thought came to my mind. I made it seem like it was put up but from close up it wasnt at all. (i made sure to move away from the others). and there i sat, waitng for total silence and dark fall with a smile on my face. but first... i rummaged through my bag and took out my camera. I took a picture of the camp site and the forest which was nearby.

Brigid|Beach

"Hey, we're in the same tent!" I said to Rylet.

"Yeah," Rylet remarked. "We should probably set it up now, before it gets too dark."

"I'm afraid I won't be much help there," I said apologetically. "I've never set up a tent before. I can make a hammock out of a coil of rope, but I've never set up a tent."

"That's okay," Rylet assured me. "I'll show you what to do. Come on, let's find a good spot for this thing."

Noah~

I walked nonchalantly through the campsite, finding the tent that I was assigned to. Warren was already sitting in one side, I looked at him

"I get this side, you get that one. No exceptions." he looked me in the eyes. Then he got out of the tent.

"So I guess this means no snuggling?" I say to him as he passes. I hear chuckles through the camp.

This is gonna be funner than I thought
