The Challenge begins!

“Welcome valiant teens to The Challenge. Of course this isn’t just one challenge! You must pass various different challenges, difficulties, and tests as we climb Mt. Thunderhead. There will only be one winner. The ones that don’t pass the tests will be sent back down the mountain to await the arrival of the winner. My name is Katharine and I will act as your guide up the mountain. We have a few rules: You may not purposely injure another teen to disable them for the rest of the Challenge, you may team up with some one to make it easier to pass the tests as long as you remember that there will only be one winner. Also, any inappropriate behavior will be punished. There are three stages and each one consists of different challenges. The first stage is fairly easy. All you have to do is apply to become part of the team. Not everyone passes this stage though. Each member of the party will receive an equal sized backpack which they can fill however they want. But I urge you to be careful what you pack. Don’t take anything to heavy or anything that won’t be useful. I can’t tell you what you’ll face but I can assure you that you won’t need any books or makeup for example. If you pass the first stage you’re well on you’re way to becoming champion.”

“The winner will not only receive many riches but will be able to decide the fate of the other teammates (you may not kill them! And they must all receive the same fate). Join at your own risk! You must be strong both fiscally and emotionally, you should be smart and witty. But remember, no one’s perfect! (so don’t make your character invincible) Above all have fun!”

History: Rylet is apply because she loves a challenge. She was born into a family consisting of athletes and was passed the competitive gene. She wants to be part of the team because she never tried one and thinks it will be interesting to see how it would work out.

Personality: She competitive and determined. Once her eyes set on her prize, it's extremely hard to deter her. Even though she has a one-track mind, she's friendly. She's never had many friends because of her family history and sometimes isolates herself from others because of that, though she's fun loving and always seeking for a thrill.

How do you feel about joining the team?: Rylet is quite nervous about joining the team. She's anticipating the challenge and meeting new people, but just like every challenge of her's before she's shook with nerves. She isn't quite sure how this will work, which excites her, and doesn't know anything about the challenge in itself. She would like to be prepared, but also finds that being left in the dark adds to the thrill. She's also hoping to make a few acquiantences along the way, possibly some friends.

What are you packing in your backpack?: She's packing two sets of clothes, a normal sized bag of trail mix, a half-liter sized reusable water bottle, a small handheld medical kit in case of emergencies, a rain slicker, and a pocket knife. She also has a cell phone tucked away in her back pocket for emergencies only, which will normally be kept off.

Why do you think you can win?: Rylet thinks she can win because of her past. Because her parents were both athletes, she's very fit and athletic as well. She thinks that she can use this to her advantage to stand out among the others. Her competitiveness also comes with an ego, which allows her to think that she's better than she really is. Cockiness is her secret weapon.

history: Zohan is an 18 year old girl who's the smartest in her family. she is not allowed to go outside of her house and spends most of her time locked up doing studies. She had no freinds except one. and another freind who she met in the internet. she ran away from home looking for adventure and to also meet this mistery freind who convinced her to come. she just wants to run away to some place and be free and prove to her family that she is not as weak as they think she is. Her family beleives in that thing about girls being more useless then boys. this challenge, if she won, would prove that her parents were wrong and help her get the free dom she deserves.

personality: She is good with medicene and can tell which plants are good to eat or not. she likes doing detective stuff. She's a bit afrad of the outside world but loves adventure, and she doesn't get mad easily and is essentially kind to people, except she's shy. Since she lacks enough experience of the outside world, she beleives in a lot of superstitions she heard from her elder brother. She's scared of strangers and especially guys ( because of her upbringing) so it will be a challenge for her to pose as a guy. shes usually forgiving and a hard worker, she wont give up unless necessary.

How do you feel about joining the team?
i'm a bit scared because this is my first time , i really went out to see the world. At the same time i'm excited to see what's in store. I love the wild and nature and this challenge is going to be interesting experience. I get to work with another person and probably mae a freind. that said i still have knots in my stomach

What are you packing in your backpack?
i'm going to start by packing a digital camera. yes i know its a challenge but i still want to capture the moments.i would come with a huge water bottle and night vision goggles.i woula like a dagger for cutting things(not attacking people) and i'll come with a flute incase of snakes and because i need it.i'll need a set of boy clothings and also bandages.i can bring my ointment incase i have an allergic attack, and my small first aid kit. i wouid also come with a lighter. and a long highly folded thin blanket.

History: Teal's joining the challenge for the money. Her hometown is running out of options - they're on the verge of bankruptcy. Her mother is sick and her father - who was once mayor of the town, is missing. Hence, her idea to save everyone by taking part in this challenge.

Personality: Teal's a caring chick. However, she often has black outs. She isn't someone you can ignore easily, she tends to say whatever's on her mind. She is extremely tactless, and generally makes gaffe's which would make any normal person want to facepalm themselves. She's good fun to have around, and she tries her best to keep her reputation as a crazy oddball.

Up for love?: Sorry, she's not interested. She'd much rather be just friends.

Stage 1:

How do you feel about joining the team? : Teal's excited to be part of the team. She's a natural people person, even if she likes to mess around. Her fainting fits annoy her; she doesn't like to be pitied, for any reason. She hopes to be able to befriend everyone on her team - and maybe, hopefully, bring together a team that will win.
What are you packing in your backpack?: She'll be carrying:
• A water bottle
• Her Swiss army knife (in her pockets)
• Cartridges for her automatic. (I mean, she's carrying a gun.)
• A raincoat with a fleece lining which doubles as a jacket
• A medi-kit (She'll need it, due to her clumsy nature)
• A length of rope (350 meters long) with a grappling hook attached
• A cookbook. Just in case.

Why do you think you can win?:
She doesn't think she can win. However, she's willing to put everything at stake. She knows she's the only one who cam protect her town now. She may be deathly afraid, but she's also dead-set. She feels like she'll do it, or die trying.

History: Brigid grew up sailing across the globe in her father's airship, which she inherited from him after his death. She was brought up to be brave, to believe in herself, and never to give up once she's set her mind on something. She can't back down from a challenge, and because she's completed rigorous high-altitude and survival training, she decided this challenge was for her.
Personality: Brigid is goal-oriented and a little stubborn. She is a natural leader, and while she appreciates quality work, she doesn't look kindly on those who don't follow orders while under her direction. She has an unpredictable temper, and is quick to defend her family and friends. She's a good actor, very good at winning the trust of others and hiding her emotions, and she's a quick thinker, good at building things. She trusts her instincts, and she places the completion of her task above her personal safety.
Other: Not up for love, but will fake it if it will benefit her.

How do you feel about joining the team? Brigid is excited, and can't wait to get going. She feels most at home at higher altitudes, so she's anxious to start making her way up the mountain. She trusts her training, and what she learned from flying on her airship, and thinks this challenge will be a good test of her skills. She's also looking forward to working alongside people closer to her age.
What are you packing in your backpack? Brigid is packing an elastic water pouch, a vial of iodine for purifying water, a small bag of Wheat Thins, a switch blade, a ball of twine, a golfer's rain suit (jacket and pants, warm, waterproof, folds up to the size of a hardcover novel), an Ace bandage, some flint for starting fires, a bottle of peroxide, a hat, a pair of binoculars, and her invention (a personal hang glider, taken apart, will have to be assembled when needed).
Why do you think you can win? Brigid thinks she can win because of her experience aboard her airship. One of her best assets is her creativity, which has gotten her out of scary situations before, and her ability to stay calm and focus. She has an acute sense of the weather, which allows her to plan ahead, and her athleticism will keep her alert and ready in the closing stages. That is the part she most looks forward to--her high altitude conditioning will give her an edge later in the competition.

History (basically just explain why you are applying to become a member of the team and stuff): Noah has always been a team player, when he grew up he grew up in an orphanage. So he never got to know his real family, but he made friends. But when he turned fifteen the orphanage he was living in burnt down while he was on a camping trip. Everyone he knew was dead. Now seeing as he really doesn't have anything left to lose, something like this seems right up his alley.

Personality: He's a funny and talented at just about everything, he's very likable. He's mellow most of the time and rarely ever gets panicked. And he's extremely fit and athletic, always moving around. He learned a lot of things about survival from Boy Scouts and stuff. He was also brought up very religiously.

How do you feel about joining the team? (scared, excited etc.) (at least 5 sentences): I definitely feel excited to join a team. As long as I can remember I've been part of a team. I'm extremely dependable, and I'm a good sport. I usually get along with members of my team, even if I don't I find a way to work around that for the better.

What are you packing in your backpack? (this is a normal sized pack. Don’t pack things that are too big. Make sure to pack only what you think you’ll need. Weapons are allowed as long as they aren’t used to hurt another player): Well, the basic essentials I guess. A bottle of water with a purifier. A hunting knife, you never know when that will come in handy. A flashlight, some duct tape. A couple extra changes of clothes. Definitely my coat, fit for rain, snow, warm, or cold. Little bags of food like goldfish and crackers, and fiber one bars.

Why do you think you can win? (at least 5 sentences): I think I can win because I'm good at survival, and I'm good at making allies. I've survived on own before, I know everything there is to know about edible plants and things like that. I also have the Lord on my side. I've got a guardian angel it seems. And even if I don't win, It's not like I have a home to go to...

History: Owen was raised by his uncle after his father died from alchohol poisoning and his mother decided she wasn't capable to raise a child. He has muscular dystrophy, and doctors estimate he'll be confined to a wheelchair in less than a year.
Personality: He's determined, disciplined, and quiet. He's more of an observant thinker than an impulsive leader. He's patient and kind-hearted. He's not the most confident person, but he'll be more inclined to take risks after the diagnosis.
Other: He's not yet feeling the effects of the muscular dystrophy besides maybe being a bit short of breath, but close to the end of the SB he might start slowing down and weakening. Before he decided to do the challenge, he was afraid of heights, but has since taken a quick beginner's rock-climbing lesson, and though he still isn't immune to the fear, he'll be atleast able to start the trip.


Stage 1:

How do you feel about joining the team? The team part isn't his cup of tea, he's not really a people-person. In fact the whole ordeal isn't really his cup of tea; he's not really a risk-taker and has never done anything like this before. Consequently, he's nervous and worried about it. But he's also kind of excited about the experience, and hopes he'll be able to fit a life-time of walking into climb. He's very prepared for the climb, having carefully planned for it.
What are you packing in your backpack? A pocket knife, an extra change of clothes folded neatly to minimize space needed, granola bars, matches, binoculars, rope, gloves, night-vision goggles, bear repellent (basically pepper spray), a small bottle of bug spray a little book that lists edible plants and what they look like, a water bottle and purifier, and duct tape. (He'll be wearing a coat.)
Why do you think you can win? (at least 5 sentences): Warren isn't the most confident person, but he still believes he can win. He's cool under stressful situations, thinking about things rationally and strategically constantly. He doesn't rush into things, and he's very methodical. He prefers to use his head before brute strength, but, since he won't have said strength for much longer, is willing to push himself to the limits. He also thinks he could win because he has a bit less to lose than the average person.

Name: Mario Sorenson

Gender: Boy

(The girl next to him is his sister.

History: Mario is Italian, his parents were well-off businessmen who never had much time for either of the kids, (Mario and his sister Esmeralda). Mario, in an effort to push away from his parents, turned to street fights and thievery. He gathered a band of boys, most of them homeless orphans, some in disguise, even a couple girls, and they became infamous throughout the little town. Through one of the boys Mario found out about the Challenge, and decided to try it out. The only thing that kept him from joining immediately was worry about his sister being left alone. He wants to win the challenge for three reasons, one, to prove himself, two, to make his sister proud, three, to be noticed by his parents.

Personality: Mario is a typical loud, flirtatious Italian boy. He talks a lot, and doesn't usually know when to stop. He can be hurtful, as he doesn't think much about others. However, most of the time he is all superficial. He rarely opens up or shows any true emotion. He is strong, fearless, and extremely good at sneaking around.

Other: Could be up for love if the right girl comes around.
