I fill up my water bottle. Deciding I'm hungry, I get out of the tent and search for food before it's very dark. Ah! I find some edible plants, not the yummiest, but good enough. I grab some, and then rub them on my shirt. Mmmm! I'm rewarded by a sweet taste as I munch one. I grab a few more, then return to my tent. As I return to our tent, I see Zohan setting up his tent, but way far away from the rest of us. I see that he's not putting it up right. That won't hold if there's wind, I think. Oh well, he'll have to deal with it. I return to my tent, and take out a Zip lock bag. Stuffing the plants into it, I zip it up. At least I will have some snack for tomorrow. Spoiler
Uh, what's in the tent? Katherine still hasn't responded to my water question. I would like to know ASAP! Thanks

I hear Andy assigned as my partner and groan. Sure I didn't actually know him, but he seemed rather full of himself. Plus he was strong and off to a very good start. Suddenly I freeze, I could use this to my advantage. Leaving Teal standing with a furious look on her face I move over to where Andy has begun setting up the tent. I didn't know much about tents, and would have prefered to sleep outside, but, oh well. "Hey, dude!" I shot at him, smiling. "Seems like you've got this thing figure out." He looks up and nods, and I reluctantly move across from him to pick up the metal stick he's shoving through the tent in my direction. "It better be cold enough to make it worth while to set this thing up instead of just sleeping outside." This makes Andy laugh, so I join in, feeling sure I can get on his good side before the end of the night. Maybe my impression was wrong and he isn't so stuck up.

That evening all the contestants set up their tents and went to sleep after I handed out a few blankets. They all seem excited, it's a pity they will get eliminated eventually. They seem to be getting along so well! If they start working together it will be really hard to judge them. I guess I just have to make the challenges even more difficult than before. These are good kids. I begin to practice my speech for tomorrow in my head. 5:00 a.m. tomorrow... I should get some sleep.

"Ahh... Good night Teal." I say, yawning. I just filled up my water-bag completely, even though my back pack weighs a lot now. I can always pour some out if it's too heavy, but I can't pour more in if it's empty. I sleepily wrap myself in the heavy blanket that Katherine gave me. "Good night, Rose. Sleep well." says Teal, but I don't hear it, because I'm already fast asleep.

"Goodnight, Rylet," I said, slipping into my sleeping bag. "The sun's coming up early tomorrow, so we should probably get some sleep. It'll wake us up out here."
Katherine|Campsite announcement 5:00 a.m. next day
"Good morning everyone! I see you all look tired. Don't worry, you'll be awake in no time. Just leave your tents up for right now, at least one person will be back here tonight. We're going to begin heading up the mountain. I will still be your guide but you will have to find your own way over or around the obstacles. I have a helicopter awaiting my signal in case I need anything so I won't be around when you guys actually do anything dangerous. So first things first, today you will have no partners. You can stick together if you like but you do not have to be in any pre-arranged groups. Tonight you will sleep outdoors since we'll be right around the base of the mountain by then. I hope to travel fifteen miles today but that's just a rough estimate since I don't know how well you all travel yet. So here's the plan: We'll walk three miles at the edge of the woods but still on the beach area until we get to a certain path. Then we'll turn into the woods and follow the path for seven more miles. After that, we'll arrive at a river which if we ride downstream will take us the final five miles. So everyone, get your belongings together and we'll head out as soon as your ready. But wait for me to give the signal since I have one last minute announcement before we head out. Be back here in half an hour. Go!"

Warren- I already had my pack packed and decided to go round up something to eat while everyone else scrambled to get their packs together in the half hour allotted us. After a breakfast of some non-poisonous berries and dandelion leaves, I came back to the clearing for the last-minute announcement, but still had a few minutes to spare. I see Rose and Zohan and decide to go talk to them. "Hello," I say, "how's your mornings so far?"

I sat out on the beach, sipping some of the leftover Gatorade. The stuff was full of chemicals, but it would wake me up and keep me going for at least a few miles. I was glad to be flying solo today--I liked having a crew, but only when I was the captain.
I twisted around and looked up at Mt. Thunderhead. It was still silent, completely dormant. This was an island, though, and island volcanoes could be unpredictable. This thing could blow its stack at any moment. Well, at least Katherine had a helicopter. We could get away if we really had to.
I stood up and meandered down the beach. The forest looked thick. Something told me I'd be glad I'd brought my wings.
After shoving the last couple things into my pack, I go to look for Brigid and Rylet to see if they want to stick together for the day. It's weird but i kind of like them. They're good girls. I usually like working alone but i think there might be strength in numbers today. I think it is wise to make friends too. I see Brigid by the forest line and call out to her. "Hey Brigid, come here a sec," I say. "Do you want to stick together for the day?" While she comes over i try to think where i saw Rylet last. I'll ask her after. I might even ask Mario to join us, if he doesn't have other companions already.

"Hey Brigid!" Andy calls. "Come here a sec! Do you want to stick together for the day?"
"Sure," I said, walking over to Andy. It was probably a good idea to make a few friends, and Andy was good at this competition stuff. He'd be a valuable ally. So would Rylet...I'd have to find her before we left, too.
"Have you seen Rylet?" Andy asked. He was thinking the same thing I was.
"No, not today," I replied. "She might be back by the tent...I'm not sure where else to look, though."
Great! Brigid will join me. Now we should go find Rylet. "Come one." I gesture to Brigid. As we are walking back to Brigid's tent, we come upon Mario. "Hi Mario! You know, I was wondering if you want to join us for the hike today. Hey but I understand if you're sticking with someone else... Like Teal." I can't help a small laugh. "Nah, not her. Just let me think about it. I'll tell you when Katherine gives the announcement. I have to go now," replies Mario, not even trying to smile. After he's gone I comment to Brigid, "Well isn't he a little social butterfly." We both laugh. I don't know what's gotten into me. I haven't laughed for months! Then again, I haven't had any friends for months. "Let's go find Rylet!" I say.

As I walk to the beach, I spot Zohan. "Hey, Zohan." "Oh, um, hi Rose." he replies. "Why do you isolate yourself so much? I mean, weren't you alone last night?" "Uh, well, I- I-" just then Warren walked to us and broke into our conversation. "Hello. How are your mornings so far?" asks Warren. "Uh, pretty good. Last night I packed my backpack, so all this morning I've been searching for food, and all that stuff." I say,"Uh, do you guys have people you're sticking with? If you don't, I'd be happy to... I think it's better to, uh, well, have groups, so that we can help each other..." "Uh, let me think about it." says Zohan. "Okay... It's okay if you don't want to... I can understand." Spoiler
SO sorry about that misunderstanding! I didn't mean to post myself twice, but it was me... Uh, Warren, if you want, I can make it so that you say it.

*Sorry, I'm not really sure who's talking there. I'm going to guess it's Warren because I don't think you would say two things in a row. It kinda sounds like something Warren would say.*
Warren- Rosette and I think it would be a good idea to team up, but Zohan isn't so sure about it. He might have a better chance without us slowing him down, but he might not. That's for him to decide I guess. I wouldn't mind just being partners with Rose. She's pretty quick, and pretty prepared, and pretty pretty. She must think I'm an idiot the way I'm talking now. Zohan's nice too, though he keeps to himself a lot. He seems a bit, I don't know, almost girlish. And there's always the fact that he did save my life. I owe him now, which is a bit disheartening, because I don't know how I'll be able to pay him back. I try not to think about that though.
