We Are Starting!

"In days of old when evil rampaged across the earth, there rose through the mist a band of beings who fended off the darkness. They were called 'heroes' and, though they were few and varried, they rose up in victory through dire times and saved the planet a countless tale.

Welcome to the Marvel World! It's been a little over three generations since the last hero had to rise and defend the planet, but now there are new threats and enemies and a new group of Marvel heroes will have to rise.

3 super villains have joined forces to take over Earth and divide the spoils. It's up to you to aid in the earth's defense. You can be a superhero or a supervillain. There are 8 slots in all: 5 heroes, 3 villains. Your objective is to find help in taking these 3 down.

Slots:

This is meant to be fun, but we need some rules. Any rulebreakers will have to be kicked out.

1. All YWS Storybook rules apply
-no god modding
-no mary sues or gary stues
2. Gonna go a bit more strict on the romance rule. There can be romance but NO sexual scenes. I don't care if the Marvel comics/movies show them. There may be some younger writers participating.
3. This is a high PG rating so no swearing. I'm sure you can come up with other interjections for your charcters to use to show disdain, surprise, or stupidity.
4. This is Marvel universe. Though you don't have to know everything, try and keep a few basics cannon [like Hulk gets green when angry].
5. Respect your fellow writers. No killing off charcters, icluding villains, without consent. No insults, no mean posts at someone, etc.
6. Failure to follow these rules as determined by the storybook creator will be kicked out.

Now with all that out of the way, let's move on. :D Note: This is third and fourth generation heroes. If you want your hero to be related to an iconic hero, you may but let's keep them few in numbers. It will make things interesting to have brand new talent.

I'll but up the DT ASAP. Have fun!

You got me pulled in. Quick question: do you just make up the character entirely or pick it up for the Marvel Comics?

Redfang: Well this is about a good 100 years since the last known Marvel heroes so yeah you can make a charcter from scratch or, if you want, base a character off of a Marvel one.

Like this except a silvery blue and black.

Personality: Snarky, sarcastic, and mostly cool-headed. He smiles a lot when not in hero mode, but when duty calls he's on his game.

History:
Spoiler
Born in north Chicago and lives there with his grandmother Agnes Parker. His grandma is the only one who knows about his abilities seeing as her father was a superhero as well. Cody was born with his abilities from a genetic mutation due to a trace of radiation that was dormant and carried through the female side of the family. He discovered his abilities when messing with some welding equipment and finding his hand could change with whatever material he picked up. After some practicing and experimenting, he learned to change his hands shape with the material. Knowing about his great grandfather's legacy as a hero in New York, Cody has chosen to do something similar for Chicago.

Other: Is up for love.

Name: Amos Draco Runestone, "The Night Dragon"
Age: 24
Affiliation: Heroes
Power: Shapeshifting- more specifically, a jet-black dragon- with a side of telepathy and heat tolerance. As a dragon, he can withstand the heat, but has to cool down every so often to maintain his body temperature- similar to a lizard. His telepathy power comes in handy when he needs to communicate with others while he's a dragon.
Appearance 1: A rather bookish young man of five-feet seven-inches in height with bright green eyes and blazing red hair. Due to being in the sun for certain periods of time, he has an almost coffee brown tan on his body. Normally he's in a library studying dragons as an obsessive interest, but in public he wears a brown wig to hide his real hair.
Appearance 2:
Spoiler
As a dragon Image
Before battle, pretty much same as his true identity, but with a mask to protect his identity and minus the wig. His mask Image

Personality: When duty calls, he's very gutsy and not afraid of getting his talons dirty if the occasion calls for it. Outside of duty, he's quiet as a mouse and rather bookish for his age. Like a dragon, he has a temper that can get the best of him. To provoke him into a dragon is to cross his sacred line, which he has a few to count. One way to cross the line is to call him an overgrown lizard, but the biggest way to cross the line is damage a book of any kind. Because he's bookish, he treats books like they were alive and gives them utmost respect.
History: Amos was raised on a farm in Michigan and normally surrounded by cats for comfort. As far as he could remember, he was busy doing a chemistry experiment in high school when radiation broke out in the heat vent behind him. It was at night time when this happened and- so he assumes- something inside him suddenly woke up. He's been known as the Night Dragon since the eve of his transformation. He still can't explain why, but there was a heap of radiation under his high school and he happened to get a big dose of it which gave him his abilities. His hideaway's in a mountainous region in America, but he goes around in town to study the dragon he's become and hopefully learn the extent of it.
Other: Up for love. When he's in town, he lives in an apartment next door to the local library and has an Egyptian Mau named Bastet living with him.

Personality:
She's really bad-ass and will do anything to get a villian away from her. When finding people she is a really good tracker and usually scares them off by randomly cracking lighting in the sky. Name- Alvah
Age- looks 14 (has technically existed since the origin of sin) and is immortal
Hero/Villain- most definitely evil.
Power: Alvah was born of the evil thoughts of Adam as he ate from the tree in Heaven. He is, to all effects, the personification of evil (this isn't god-modding, as he does have limitations). He can -but only if said person has committed a great sin- influence the mind, warp emotion to his pleasing, and alter memories (all to a certain extent). He is invulnerable to all but holy and blessed weapons/attacks, and possesses superhuman speed and intelligence. Once a day, he can create a magical contract, with which he can grant any wish to a person- the drawback being that this person must have (in his/her mind, at least) no other alternative, and this contract cannot be stipulated with an ally. He can mold dark thoughts in order to create artifacts- but he cannot use them himself. The drawback to all this is Alvah cannot directly strike anyone weaker than him (which is pretty much everyone).
Appearance (1): Alvah is around 1'60 m tall. He's pale but handsome-looking, with a strong jawbone, messy black hair and deep, cruel black eyes. He wears jeans and a black leather jacket with an inverted red star of David over his heart.
Appearance (2): Blacker than a shadow, he extends darkness over anything around him. In this form he is invincible- but he can only assume it when a person of pure heart and noble intentions is sacrificed in the Sistine Chapel.
Personality: Alvah is totally, utterly evil and merciless, however, he values patience and diligence, and he's arrogant- so arrogant he won't even bother to be mean to someone he perceives to be 'weaker' than him.
History: Alvah was born out of original sin, and from there he wandered where sin was greatest. He also fathered Mephisto by casting a complex spell upon Golgotha when Christ was crucified. He invented the Anti-Life Equation and gave it to Darkseid as a part of a contract. He sired most monsters over the ages and secretly founded Hydra- now an even more secretive agency bent on developing the latest tech.
Other: He is (surprisingly) up for love, but only if he finds someone as evil and powerful as him.

Name-Haven Everoon aka Overwatch
Age- 19
Hero/Villain- Hero
Power: Knowledge and to a point foresight
Appearance (1): Shaggy blonde hair, deep hazel eyes, baggy t shirt, jeans and the same red and black checked wristband day in day out.
Appearance (2): More often than not he is just a voice or a symbol and a message. A blacked out silhouette surrounded in lines of code and symbols. Very rarely have heroes met him or sought him out. On those occasions he wears aviators,a black trilby, black trench coat, red shirt and black jeans and combat boots.
Personality: As a normal person he is the quintessential nice guy. The reliable friend and the keeper of many a secret. He is the shoulder most choose to cry on.
As a hero is an enigma. A mystery. Untraceable through his messages or computer hacks. He appears, advises and is gone. For a while he handed over every criminal he saw to the police but when so many walked free due to having not yet committed the terrible crimes he saw in his head. He stopped.
History: Originally from London, England. He excelled in school until early in his teens he began having visions. They started of just flashes of what later came to pass. Sometimes he managed to avoid what was supposed to happen, catching falling vases, cleaning up before people slipped on them. Then the terrifying visions began. Crimes, wars, murder and mayhem. Suddenly his grades fell and hie withdrew from his friends. Finally his Grandfather took him one side and explained. Every other generation of their family was born with "The Sight". It was how his grandfather survived both world wars. Finally he hit 18, moved out and Overwatch could finally take shape.

other: He is up for love but won't allow you into the attic. That is where the Watchtower is. Military grade computers line the walls, machines he created that humanity won't think up for generations. His fortress of solitude.
I have looked into the eye of the storm and stared it down. I am an adrenaline junky and i know no fear.

Name- Jonah Knowles A.K.A "The Fox"
Age- (between 14-35) 24
Hero/Villain- Hero
Power: Jonah is an expert of all things tech, coupled with superior reflexes and physical abilities obtained through rigorous training. A master of most forms of martial arts, Jonah utilizes an effective mixture of technology and raw hand-to-hand combat to make up for his lack of supernatural abilities. He is constantly assisted by the computer program "X-Ray" which he controls through a virtually impregnable neural network. "X-Ray" can hack and assume control of most machinery, as well as perform all the functions of any other supercomputer, from running forensic scans at lightning fast speeds to researching enemies almost instantaneously. Jonah's true strength though is his suit, which comes equipped with everything from E-M-P and taser gauntlets to retractable grappling-guns stored in the thighs. His cowl enhances his vision, hearing and smelling capabilities to supernatural precision, and even calculates the trajectory of most of his suit's projectiles. It is designed to be fairly bulletproof, although not exactly invulnerable. It can take a couple rounds from a pistol, but not from a turret.
Appearance (1): He is around 6'3, with a well-toned yet slim body, dyed pale from lack of sun. He keeps his chestnut brown hair at a short length, so that it won't impair his fighting ability. Jonah spends the majority of his time within his suit, but in the rare cases he is out of it, he is most likely in nothing but athletic shorts, training. On the even rarer cases he is meeting with someone professionally, he has a collection of suits he keeps in the Den.
Appearance (2): The suit is a dark orange, with a shock of white at the tail. The cowl is comprised of the top half of a fox's head, modeled from a bulletproof, flexible material. The eyes are on par with Jonah's, as is the nose. the rest of the armor is similar to Batman's in his newest movies, yet murky orange instead of black, and without the cape. Instead, a tail protrudes from the back of his hip, and is often flowing loosely, but can be hardened with a single neural command into a club of sorts. His boots and gloves have retractable claws at the end, as well as a number of other features invisible to the naked eye. The suit's true capacity is seemingly endless, as each night Jonah equips it with a variety of different equipment and weaponry. The most recurring however are; Gloves that can release E.M.P blasts with a minute or so of recharge in-between, grappling guns that retract into his thighs, but can be easily released and fired to swing between rooftops, several boomerang-type projectiles that can be released from the forearm and thrown to knock out enemies; these said projectiles are referred to as "Claws' by Jonah, and can be modified to release electrical bursts, explosions or even quick-hardening, breathable foam to seal of doorways or trap enemies, and a detachable, hovering drone stored on the back that is used to stealthy scan areas before Jonah enters them. It feeds video to the cowl through "X-Ray"
Personality: Jonah is determined, stubborn, and willful, often acting on the basis of his own volition rather than that of others. He quickly determines data from even a basic social interaction, and then alters his approach to achieve his own goals. He is not above using his fellow heroes to achieve his own means, even if it angers them. He is normally silent, observing, then making his demands with a logical backing. If it is rejected, he retreats and begins to twist the people subtly, if he is met with agreement, he uses the people as tools anyway. He has no time for romance or flirting, but again, if it will help him achieve what he wants, he will act the part perfectly.
His drive is justice; not revenge. He discovered the difference a long time ago, and now seeks to swiftly dispense consequences to criminals by any means necessary. He is the judge and the executor.
History: [include your hometown] Jonah was the only eldest son of his happy six-part family. His father was a wealthy and respected lawyer, his mother a kind and nurturing yoga instructor. His brothers were in awe of their older brother's willpower, and loyally regarded him as a role-model and inspiration. Jonah had won his sister's heart with taking the time to go to each doll and tea party.

They were the ideal family, living in Glencoe, Illinois. They had everything they wanted and more, and Jonah was happy. Then, his father prosecuted Gordon Sands AKA Sandman, on the ground that he had illegally been mutating the employees of his chemical factory to try and create a team of supervillians. Furious at Jonah's father, he and his twisted mutant team broke out of prison and tracked down the Knowles whilst they were walking at a park. Jonah was thrown to the side by the mutated Sandman, and collapsed the den of a family of foxes, where he passed out.

When he awoke, the park was in flames, and the carcasses of his family were aflame, piled in a heap in the center of the inferno. Jonah escaped through the tunnels of the fox family, and discovered the cave that would one day become his Den.

He eventually found his way to safety; the sewers of a town nearby. He escaped, and travelled to the city in a cab, hoping to find his uncle and explain the situation. When he arrived at his uncle's apartment, he found his mother's brother grotesquely murdered, and a lone Sandman standing over him. Consumed with fury, he tackled the murder and sent them both through the nearby window. Upon impact, the Sandman was killed, and both of Jonah's arms were broken. Realizing that Gordon's goons were nearby, Jonah struggled back to the Den, where he slowly nurtured himself back to health, surviving off of the cave water and what the fox's brought him from the park.

He spent the next few years hunting down each of Sandman's goons, and each capture rewarded handsomely in terms of money, but not satisfaction. With his earnings, Jonah was able to construct his suit and furnish the Den, yet he still felt alone and empty; the Sandman haunted his dreams. It is only now, after years of searching, Jonah has finally realized that causing more death is not the way to deal with his anger. He operates as a vigilante for the city of Chicago, leaving wounded criminals at the police station rather than at the bottom of Lake Michigan.
other: Lives in the Den; sort of like the Batcave.

Alright everybody, we are starting! Here is the DT if some still need it: viewtopic.php?f=200&t=93700

I'll also be sending PMs to everybody that we are starting, but be sure to check the DT because my YWS mail system has a few bugs and some PMs don't send.

Go ahead and start blasting away plot ideas in the DT, because we need somewhere to start.

The Carpenter

The sun had set over Chicago and the streets were lit up with the night life. Police sirens blared into the night as a lowly thief barreled his way through alleys, seeking safety. When he was sure he had lost the cops, the thief peeked into the lovely leather purse he had snatched. The lining inside was fur and the purse itself could fetch a hefty price on the market.

Inside were a few currency cards, some make up...

"You know, I think the lady would like her purse back," said a voice. The thief started back on his feet and ran again.

The source of the voice sighed. "Why do they always have to run?"

The thief sprinted hard, pushing recycling bins and whatever debris he could find to block his pursuer. It didn't stop him. He jumped up on one of the tin bins and leapt away. If you looked really hard, as the vigilante touched the bin, his hand became the same color and texture as it.

The thief looked behind him and couldn't see the person chasing him. He smirked and turned back forward, all of a sudden hitting a metal plate. The pursuer had his hand held out and the thief ran right into his tin hand.

The thief was on his back and groaned, the purse had fallen away from him. Placing a boot on his chest, his trenchcoat swaying with the breeze, the pursuer looked down at his catch.

"Now what have we learned tonight?" he asked, his metalic hand growing long and thin. The thief gulped.

"I-I won't do it again! I swear! Just don't hurt me!"

The man chuckled and pulled his hand back. "I wasn't planning on hurting you." Quickly grabbing the purse, he began to take off to turn it in. The thief stood up.

"Who the heck are you?"

The man turned around and saluted. "Carpenter," he mumbled before taking off.
"Oh please don't tell me you're archaeologists."

"Do you have a problem with archaeologists?"

"I'm a time traveler. I laugh at archaeologists."

The Fox

Visibility will be at a preferred percentage from below the cloud... Distance to ground level is fifty two meters, twenty three centimeters, Advised Protocol: Airdrop with Shock Absorb Level 3 in the boots... Distance to marked DNA pattern, seventy four meters, Advised Protocol; Web Claw Level 3...... Target is John Hall, 5"11, 185 lbs. No apparent metahuman capabilites...

Thank you, X- RayI thought back to the program, cutting off it's slightly British accented voice. Cease Data Gather Protocol, engage Left Grappling Hook detachment with a lock on optimal position for transversing to Target. Activate Right Web Claw Level 2 with a lock on Target's spine My commands were a brief thought, and I felt the claw slide out my right fore arm whilst my left grasped the grappling gun.

I leapt from the balcony on which I had been standing, soaring through the night air. The information windows X-Ray had been running were closed; I was all alone for a second in the orange sky.The hook bolted out from the gun and impaled the corner of a nearby roof, swinging me around the front of the building, where the Target was admiring the contents of his recently stolen purse.

I cocked the Web Claw back in my hand and was preparing to throw it when another figure appeared behind the theif and spoke.

"You know, I think the lady would like her purse back" said the newcomer. I reactivated X-Ray's Data Gathering Protocol and changed the course of my swing to land silently above the pair.

Target's perspiration levels and heartbeat increasing rapidly... Identifying metahuman presences... Alias: Carpenter..Known Powers: Transformation of limbs into substances acquired through absorption... Danger Level: High... Currently Operating as a Hero... Should I mark him as Target 2?

No I thought back Engage all Observation Protocols and mark both on map; we're going to follow them

The thief began to ran, and Carpenter followed. I noticed the way he absorbed the the bin thrown at him by the runner, X-Ray identified it as 86% Tin, 14% Mixed Plastics and Chemicals.

After watching their exchange with mild curiosity, I was bewildered when Carpenter left his victim unharmed and free to go; he had not provided a strong enough incentive to seriously believe the thief would truly regret his actions. I was more than happy to take the job for him.

Carpenter was barely out of the way before I slammed into the thief feet first. The Taser Protocol in my boots pounded him with a mind-scrambling three hundred volt shock as my attack carried him into the nearby alley.

Before the thief could even collect his thoughts I was on top of him, breaking his jaw and collarbone with a savage, two-hand punch, and the most of his rips with a knee jab. He lay broken and bleeding on the ground, unable to muster a coherent thought.

I grabbed him by the collar and made eye contact with him through the Fox Cowl's lenses. I had them tinted a dark red, and what little consciousness he had left dissipated into child-like fear.

"Don't steal" I spat in his face with rage. His tears ran into his bloody mouth.

I dropped the heap of a man and left him by the roadside, dropping a GPS tracker into his underwear as I dragged. It would show up in the cowl, and the local police station's maps. I could tell that a car was about three minutes away, and I would've stayed if not for the Carpenter. He obviously didn't realize the extent of his duty, and I felt compelled to show him the error of his ways.

With the grappling gun, I quickly soared my way from rooftop to rooftop, and found Carpenter within minutes.

"Stop where you are!" I called out.

Look out, hero boys. An ally has just dropped in.

The Night Dragon

I flew around in the sky, watching the city below as the Night Dragon. I noticed two other men having some kind of dispute, so I flew down, shifted into a human- mask and all- and approached the boys cautiously. One of them had metal arm, when gave me the impression that the man was some kind of scientific person. A thief tried to pass me, but I tripped him with my tail and pinned him down. I said proudly, "Not so fast, bandit. I gotcha." Another score for the Night Dragon, I thought to myself. Man I love being a hero. I kept the thief down with my tail and shifted to full dragon while maintaining my hold. Sometimes being a dragon makes my job easy, but I never really count on easy nowadays.
Look down and show some mercy if you can.
