Adam Wright - Mind Talking

I watched as the Victoria girl looked around, confused at the voice speaking to her in her head. Oh, how I loved to play with the new kids.

She smiled and I heard a faint echo of her voice. 'Uh, who's this?' I was about to answer when she said, 'And you're not the first person to tell me that.'

I grinned and watched as she got up without a word to Jonathan. Not very polite, was she...

She held a piece of ice in her hand for a while, looking as if she needed to cool down. My eyes followed her as she walked around the circus yard, never really looking for me, but not being inattentive, either. After a few minutes she cracked her knuckles and pushed her hair out of her face, looking determined.

She'd find out who I was eventually, so, I might as well give her a bit of a hint.

'My name starts with an 'A'...' She grinned at the hints I was giving her. 'And most people don't enjoy my company.' I smirked at this, glad that I could say that and be happy about it. I didn't need friends.

Victoria- Ice control

I smiled at the hints-

Hmm have I met you before? I grinned.

I dropped the ice on the floor and lay down again, relaxing. I was actually having fun, a guessing game. I smiled again. Can you give me one more hint? I rested my arms on my stomach. Was still laying down when I started to float up. I giggled, I've always loved flying. I pushed myself back down again.

I crossed my arms waiting for his response. I can play this game too you know.

I fell to the ground, lost my concentration in my flying stance. "Gotta still work on the landing..." I laughed. Jonathan was looking at me like I was crazy. I looked back at him. "I know I know, I'm awesome." I laughed, doing my sweet face. And I did a flip and landed on the ground again. "Shoot, gotta get that right." I got back upa nd dusted myself off. I saw a guy behind a car, looking at me. I grinned. "Adam?" I shook my head at him, "I knew It was you."

Jonathan

Awesome, I've done it again. I thought sarcastically to myself as Victoria hopped up and left without a word. If I couldn't talk to her I'd never be able to talk to Codie.

I walked around the circus a bit, and finally ended up going back in the trailer. I pulled a small block of wood out of my duffel bag, and my carving knife. I began to whittle away at the wood, my concentration taking over the rest of my senses.

Carving had been somewhat of a lifesaver for me. It had given me the practice to control my strength, strength that could easily crush someone if I was that kind of person. I could balance between gently handing a knife and lifting the huge poles of the circus tents. It made me feel human, not like I was some monster that could shred a tree to bits.

It occured to me, as it sometimes did, how strange we all were. Before the circus, my parents pushed off my strength as genetic. Maybe from my uncle, a former military general. Never super human. Yet here I was.

I focused down again on the boat I was carving. Maybe if I got the courage I'd give it to Codie. She controlled water. She had to like boats, right?

After a moment, I took a deep breath and stood up. I'd just leave it outside her tent. Maybe she'd guess where it came from.

How was I so strong, but still so weak?

I was going to go straight up to Jonathan, but I'd just make a fool of myself, so I went back to my tent and tried to decide what I was going to say, after about half a hour I still had no idea, but decided I couldn't actually concentrate on my act tonight unless I told him.

As soon as I walked out of my tent, I almost tripped up over the little wood figurine that had been obviously, purposely left outside my tent. I picked it up and examined it, it was a boat, and there was only one person I knew could carve this well.

Jonathan

This wasn't going to stop me, even if I wasn't going to go and tell him how I felt, I'd still go and say thank you. I found him sat out side his tent.

"Hey" I said, sitting down opposite me. "Thanks for the boat" I said.

"Your welcome, I thought because you controlled water - well" He trailed off, I could see he was trying his hardest.

"You changed my opinion, you know..." I started "On everything, like, I hated boats until I saw this, I near enough hated everyone until I met you. I thought because my parents were the only good people I know, everyone else was just like, evil - but when I met you, and found out about your power. I knew I was supposed to feel intimidated by you, but your the sweetest guy I know" I said, part of me was saying I was talking nonsense, the other part of me said I was doing the right thing.

Jonathan "Jonny"- Strength

"You changed my opinion, you know. On everything, like, I hated boats until I saw this, I near enough hated everyone until I met you. I thought because my parents were the only good people I know, everyone else was just like, evil - but when I met you, and found out about your power. I knew I was supposed to feel intimidated by you, but your the sweetest guy I know." She running her sentences together, a soft pink beggining to form on her cheeks.

Without anything to say, I reached over and pulled her into a hug, being careful not to hold too tight, "Thank you." After a moment, I pulled away and looked into her eyes, then down to her hand I was holding, "You're really something special, just thought I'd tell you."

Without even looking, I knew she was smiling. It made me feel good. To know for once I had said the right thing. I took a deep breath, and looked back up at her again.

Just go for it Jonny, man up a little. "So, Codie, I haven't had a girlfirned since I joined this circus, which was a really long time ago. Would you, maybe, want to...." I trailed off, hoping she'd know what to say. I sure as hell didn't.
