Fidelis

For countless hours, we held each other in one another's sleep. When night came around, I woke up and fed from Allan while holding him close. Once I was done feeding, I treated his wound with great care. I got out of bed with him in my arms. "Let's take a walk outside. I know you could use some fresh air. I can't have you confined in the apartment forever."
Look down and show some mercy if you can.
Look down, look down, upon your fellow man.

Fidelis wakes and feeds from me, patching my wound carefully when he's done. I smile as he stands with me in his arms and suggests we go outside.

"Let's take a walk outside. I know you could use some fresh air. I can't have you confined in the apartment forever." He says.

I nod, still smiling.

I held his hand as we strolled outside in the night, guided by the street lights during our venture out of the apartment. We both stayed quiet as we ventured through the city.
Someone yelled, "Hey, you two!"
I looked at the person who yelled. A local law enforcer rushed towards me and Allan and grabbed me by the wrists, binding them behind me in metal locks. I asked, "What's this all about?"
The law enforcer told me that I was charged for kidnapping Allan four months ago. The enforcer forced me to sit in the back of his car while motioning Allan to sit next to him. After a while, he drops Allan off to a house of some sort.
I tried to get out of the car. I couldn't bear being seperated from Allan. I would starve to death without feeding from him. I cried as I watched his figure shrink while I was taken from him. How was I going to survive without him feeding me his special blood? I struggled to get free, but it felt like I couldn't.
Look down and show some mercy if you can.
Look down, look down, upon your fellow man.

It just feels right, my hand in his. I'm not embarrassed or self-conscious of the fact Fidelis is on the other end of it. It feels complete that way. Then things go wrong.

A man calls out for us to stop and, when we turn around, arrest Fidelis for my kidnapping. Numb and frightened, I watch as they lead him to a car, his eyes watching me with fear and sadness.

"N-no." I manage to regain control of myself as they shut him in. "No, Fidelis!"

I'm taken home, which is no longer home in my heart, and they pry Fidelis away from me, leaving me on my doorstep. I struggle to go after the car, knowing that he'd starve without me and unsure of what would happen to me without him. As they ring the bell for my parents, I hysterically start crying and shaking, no longer warm. My eyes dart around, searching for him even though I know he's not there. I can't accept it yet.

Two bodies force me into an embrace and I flip out, trying to escape again. He is the only thought crossing my mind. I'm sat down on something hard and cold and pricked in the arm with something, my vision hazing and body slowing.

"Allan, what did he do to you?" I hear my mother gasp as her fingers brush over the bandage to my wound.

Someone else begins to speak as my eyes close.

"Fidelis." I whisper before passing out.

The enforcers had to drag me to a cell, keeping the metal locks on my wrists. I managed to put my bound wrists in front of me, but still couldn't break free. I struggled with all the strength I had, but it was no use. Without Allan to feed me, I was weak, hungry, and powerless. I buried my face in my hands, crying miseribly. I needed Allan's blood to strengthen me. Without him, I was a weak and hopeless vampire. I couldn't stop thinking about him. I longed to hold him in my arms, kiss him, feed from him, and tell him I would never let him go. He knew I couldn't go on without him. Unless he fed me, time was turning against me and starving me little by little. I could barely hear myself as I cried in my hands. "Allan, my beautiful Allan." I was reduced to sobs, fearing that he wouldn't last without me like I can't last without him.

When my eyes open, I feel as if a draft set in over my bones, a chill in my heart reminding me of everything that happened. My body won't move, unresponsive to the commands I'm sending it, and my emotions won't manifest, locked up to keep me miserable.

Two figures appear in the doorway I recognize as the entrance to my old room, speaking with one another in hushed tones. Their voices slowly begin to piece together in my mind and create words that I can understand. They speak of a trial, of an interrogation. Then a third voice pops up and asks to see me.

As I begin to regain feeling over myself, an officer and both parents walk in. The man pulls up a chair while the couple stay near the wall, arms crossed and expressions solemn.

"Son, can you hear me?" The officer asks.

I don't respond, refusing to use my voice to help his cause. He'd taken my master from me, stripped him of his only slave. I'm not going to help him at all.

"Son, can you tell me how this happened?" he reaches towards my neck.

I jab my arm out, catching his wrist and diverting it. No one touches it but him... He notices the marks on my own wrist and examine them, doing his best not to touch them.

"What happened?" he repeats.

"I want to see him." I say, my voice small and pathetic sounding. "I want to see my Fidelis."

I sat there curled up on the cell bed, my thoughts still on Allan. Another minute without him felt like years all alone. Two enforcers had their backs towards me, but I knew what they were saying where I was sitting. One of them spoke of a trial after torturous questioning, the other said that a boy- Allan, my dear heart- wanted to see me. He didn't just wanted to see me, but demanded it. He was promised he would see me, only if he told them why he was with me, what happened during his four-month-long disappearance, and how come there were bitemarks on his wrist and throat. I growled at this. Those marks were my marks, proof that he was mine. Because they were my marks, I alone had the right to touch them. I still remained curled up, thinking of him and slowly starting to feel hungry.

I tell them what they wanted to hear, just not the truth. Telling them about Fidelis and the fact he's a vampire would only prolong my visit to him. I tell them he was only helping me. They lie isn't as hard as I imagined.

"S-someone else got me." I say, looking away to seem as traumatized as I would end up sounding like. "They caused the wounds. They...they said something about a ransom, I think. Then..Then Fidelis came and broke me out, told me that it wasn't safe yet for me to go home."

I look up at them.

"He took care of me." I say. "He caused no harm."

After a few hours of debate among my parents and the officer, I'm taken to the jailhouse but told I have to wait. Excitement and worry pulse through my veins, my heartbeat probably heard from his cell. They lead me into a visiting room to wait for him, an officer guarding the door. When I see him, I stop myself from hurrying into his arms until the officer holding him lets go. I wrap my arms around him and feel him wraps his arms around me.

"F-feed, please." I whisper.

I just want him to be alright.

I moan out loud in my dark room. I groan loudly again, I needed to feed and soon, but it wasn't time yet. I have to find a human and soon before I die I think to myself,Ha! Now I'm talking to myself great.

I wake up, lying on the cement outside a row of houses to find my car totaled against a pole and I think to myself 'this has to be a dream.
In the end I give up trying to remeber what happened and start walking down the street, which up until now, has been abandoned.
Half an hour later I end up standing in front of a single double story building set apart from all the other buildings.
For some reason I walk up to the door and try turning the handle; it doens't budge then I throw my hand over my face and just lean onto the door, think how terrible everything has been ,The door opens slighlty and I tumble inside.

I lie in bad oblivious to everything at the moment, my hunger gnawing at my insides as I refuse to go feed till it was time.

I wrapped my arms around him, feeling the warmth of his mortal body. I sank my fangs into his throat and felt at ease, the nipping hunger giving way to the sweet surrender and tranquil bliss that flooded me at the taste of his blood. I took three mouthfuls of his blood, unlatched from his neck, and just held him in my arms. "I didn't want to end up like this. This kind of situation was just the thing I've been avoiding for five thousand and one years. I want out of here and back home where I can hold you without feeling alone and feed from you without being watched." I could hear his heart beating rapidly, then slowing down as he kept his arms around me. "Good gods, I need you, Allan. If I starve, I'll go insane. I don't want to go down that road again. I don't want to be alone again. I can't replace you. I just can't."

He feeds from me, holding me close, and I close my eyes with a light smile. I relaxed and evened my breathing, relieved to be in his arms again.

"I didn't want to end up like this. This kind of situation was just the thing I've been avoiding for five thousand and one years. I want out of here and back home where I can hold you without feeling alone and feed from you without being watched," He says after he finishes feeding.

There's a pause and I assume he's listening to my heartbeat.

"Good gods, I need you, Allan. If I starve, I'll go insane. I don't want to go down that road again. I don't want to be alone again. I can't replace you. I just can't," He says to finish.

I smile and tighten my grip, not wanting to let go. While we were separated... Life wasn't the same. As he couldn't replace me, nothing could ever replace him in my life. We were stuck together. Nothing could change that. Even this.

His grip tightened around me and I could tell why. All those four months he spent with me had made me an irreplaceable part of his life. I kissed the top of his head. "Please help me, Allan. I don't want to be seperated from you. Find a way to get me out of here. I need you more than ever. Get me out of here before they figure out I'm not human. I can't take that big of a risk."
An enforcer pulled me out of Allan's arms and told me my time for visitors was up.
I was brought back to the cell, two other enforcers guarding the door in case I intended to escape. I didn't want to make people realize I wasn't human, so I had to stay put. I sat there on the bed with my back up against the wall. A female's voice was heard from where Allan was, questioning him why was he on my side and not his parents'. The latter wanted me out of his life, which could mean something called Death Row on account of the kidnapping and murder charges against me. I swallowed. How was Allan going to weasel me out of that?
