I wrapped my arms around Allan as I slept, letting myself fall deeper into a void of dreams. So many dreams I could have of him and myself together, I couldn't describe even one of them. I just slept with him in my arms, letting him offer me comfort. During my solitude years, I had nightmares left and right. Being with Allan in my sleep made me feel human and young again. It was like his presence took away the nightmares that used to haunt me, like he was some kind of security blanket meant for me to have. I made sure I was gentle with him in my sleep. I didn't want to suffocate him to death.
Look down and show some mercy if you can.
Look down, look down, upon your fellow man.

He wraps his arms around me while he sleeps, setting my head against his chest. I flash a smile and close my eyes again, letting myself become accustom to his sleeping habits. I puzzle over what he said earlier, about my heart rate stopping at the sign of danger, and my questions put me back to sleep. My thoughts cease and the dreams come again.
I'm never what I like
I'm double sided
And I just can't hide
I kind of like it
When I make you cry
'Cause I'm twisted up, twisted up

I get up of the floor and start to feel for light switch on the walls , the house seemed abandonded , but the power worked , i walked slowly through the house and found a bedroom door that was closed i slowly turned to door handle but the door didnt budge , i put my ear against the door to listen then the door pulled backwards i feel forwards , when i looked up i saw a sporty looking girl who looked like she was starving , when i got back up i asked her why is her house look like its abandonded
Let the past live behind you not with you ,let the present live with you not behind you.

I rose when the sun fell. I sat up and fed from Allan's neck, taking only as much as I needed and leaving plenty for him to thrive on. I held him as I carried him to the living room and sat down on the couch. I set him on my lap and held him against my chest. I noticed he was still asleep, so I stroked his cheek with my finger. "My beautiful Allan, my special one. For centuries, I've been all alone and had no one to turn to. Now I have you with me to care for. I've cared for you for four months and I intend to take care of you even longer."

When I wake, Fidelis has just finished whispering to me. We're in the living room, my body held close in his arms and my head against his chest. I flash a smile and yawn, cuddling deeper into him. He'd already fed from me, my neck still tingling from his touch, and is stroking my cheek. The promises he had whispered float distantly in my mind, making me feel as if the past day hadn't happened.

I smiled back at him and kissed his forehead. I was about to tell him more when I heard a knock on the door. I set him down on the couch. "Wait right here. I have to get the door." I went to the door and opened it. Two vampires were at the door. "Carlos and Sheila. What brings the Bloodlust Twins to my residence?"
Carlos and his twin sister walked in. "Fidelis, you are in so much trouble with the Queen vampire. Word's been spreading around that you got incarcerated yesterday. Do you know how long it's been since we vampires were once made known?"
I crossed my arms. "Don't lie to me, Carlos. Why are you and your sister here really?"
Sheila turned around and looked at me in the eye. "The Queen vampire demands your presence with her. Because of your incarceration, she's sentenced you to a trial by the Council and- if found guilty- permanently stripped of your slave."
I hissed. "She can't strip me of my slave. He's the only one I got."
Carlos sighed. "She can. Because your slave is not opposite of your gender, he will be given to Sheila if you're found guilty by the Council."

What? No! I stand uneasily and look at them, swallowing. Leaving him? Going to...her? My eyes set on the girl and I can't imagine any other set of fangs but Fidelis' on my neck. I look pleadingly at Fidelis, even if he can't do anything, and realize my hand subconsciously set itself over the bandage.

I stood at Allan's side. "You can't take him from me, Sheila. He's mine and only mine."
Carlos took a long link of chains from his vest. "Tell that to the Queen." He bound me in the chains before I could make an escape. Once he locked the chains behind me, he and Sheila bound Allan in ropes. They stuffed us in a large basket- Allan on top of me.
I felt the basket being lifted. I knew Allan couldn't see in the darkness like I can, so I had to calm him down with my voice. "Don't fret, dear heart. I'll make sure the Council doesn't find me guilty. As far as I could tell, I've done nothing to reveal the existance of vampires and I have faith that you didn't tell anyone either. Let's just hope the Queen and the Council has mercy on me."

They bind Fidelis in chains and tie me in ropes, throwing us into a basket. I lay atop him, my breath sharp and quickened, and feel us being lifted. So dark...

"Don't fret, dear heart. I'll make sure the Council doesn't find me guilty. As far as I could tell, I've done nothing to reveal the existance of vampires and I have faith that you didn't tell anyone either. Let's just hope the Queen and the Council has mercy on me." He comforts me.

I close my eyes and press my face into his shoulder, trying to calm like he wanted. The very thought of being ripped from him and handed to a woman... I can't imagine it anymore. My fear overwhelms me and I try not to cry.

I could smell his tears. He didn't want to be Sheila's slave, not when he was so accustomed to being around me. I tried to think of something to keep him calm, but couldn't think. I listened as the Bloodlust Twins carried the basket to a location I assumed was where the Queen and the Council were hidden.
Carlos asked, "What do you plan on doing with the boy?"
Sheila answered, "Make his life miserable and torture him into obediance. That'll make sure he stays in his place."
A third voice- the Queen, I assumed- said, "No one is touching the Pharaoh's slave unless the Council finds the Pharaoh guilty. I want the Pharaoh and his slave in my chamber now."
The Bloodlust Twins sighed at the same time and continued carrying the basket.
Allan and I were tossed out of the basket and left before the feet of the Queen. I looked at her in the eye. "You assume I should be found guilty, Your Majesty?"
The Queen shook her head. "Knowing your age, you might be smart enough not to compromise our existance to humans. Most vampires don't live up to be as old as you or me, but you're a different tale indeed. You thrive on the blood of human males and have one as young as your physical self as a slave. No doubt you're the first to take such a step in your long life." She looked at Allan. "And I see you have treated this one with utmost respect. What's your name, blood boy?"

We're spilled out of the basket in front of a throne. Fidelis begins speaking right away as I glance around, keeping my hands from shaking.

"What's your name, blood boy?" The Queen asks.

I look at her and then Fidelis, swallowing.

"A-Allan," I whisper before looking down.

The Queen's chocolate eyes glittered. "Allan. What a lovely name." She looked at me. "How long have you had this boy?"
I managed my way to sitting on my knees. "Four and a half months. It'll be five months in two weeks."
The Queen stood up and unbound me. "What do you know about him?"
I rubbed my wrists and got on my feet. "He's the closest there is to royalty in the modern world. Not only that, but his blood is rather special. Each time I feed from him, I get lost in a sweet surrender and bliss. I wanted him for his physical beauty and special blood, so I claimed him the minute after I checked him."
The Queen made Allan stand and I quickly held him close to me. "You're attached to him?"
"Yes, and so the other way around. He knows I'll starve without him, so he had to help me escape from a human prison."
The Queen smiled. "This is a very rare case indeed. No doubt the Council would turn in your favor." Her milky face turned hard and serious. "However, there is but one question that the Council will ask: Did you reveal yourself as a vampire to other mortals other than your slave?"
I shook my head. "No, sire. I haven't and neither has Allan. We kept the existance of vampires a complete secret."
What the Queen said next almost shocked me to pieces: "Then the Council would be in your favor instead of the Bloodlust Twins', therefore allowing you to keep your precious Allan."
Look down and show some mercy if you can.
Look down, look down, upon your fellow man.

Fidelis is unchained and holds me close as soon as I'm able to stand. She keeps smiling at me. I don't like it. Then she grants Fidelis permission to keep me, which shocks him, and I no longer care. Flashing a smile, I look at him, my hands still bound.

I looked at Allan in the eye. "I won't be found guilty. It's a great chance I'll keep you."
Carlos walked in. "Don't think the Council will turn to your favor, Fidelis. You're still convicted for murder of two mortal boys."
I clung to Allan. "I was hungry. I can't think clearly without feeding."
Carlos grabbed Allan by the back of the shirt. "That's no excuse. That case will be counted against you, therefore this boy belongs to Sheila." He tried to pull Allan away from me.
The Queen snarled, forcing Carlos to back off. "That boy still belongs to Fidelis unless found guilty by the Council. You and Sheila must wait for the Council's decison." She left without another word.
I held Allan against my body, glaring at Carlos. For ages, I made sure Allan was still in my arms and away from Carlos and Sheila. After three hours, the Queen returned with a serious face. I held Allan close, silently praying to the gods that I would still keep Allan.
The Queen announced, "The Council has spoken in favor of...Fidelis. The bloodslave called Allan remains with Fidelis."
I unbound Allan and held him in my arms. I got to keep him. My prayer to the gods was answered.

I don't understand why the girl wants me so much, why this is such a big deal. Fidelis told no one of his true self, only revealing it to me when feeding. I don't like being caught in the middle.

He holds me close, waiting for the news, and I stay quiet as I study the rope around my wrists. They itch, rubbing against my skin a little too well, and bother the mark from Fidelis. As my thoughts distance and scurry from the norm, someone else walks in.

"The Council has spoken in favor of...Fidelis. The bloodslave called Allan remains with Fidelis." The voice I recognize as the Queen announces.

Fidelis unbinds me and holds me even closer. In the excitement, I don't know what to do, submitting completely to him as a smile of relief flickers across my face. My eyes dart around and I think of the apartment, wishing to be there instead of here.

What holds you betwixt panic and serenity? That is, if it's not among the many querulous quagmires unfit for elaboration.
