Vampires and Slaves (Enter This Realm To Die)

Allan

He notices me after the lights go out and I flash a smile, pulling the grate out and reaching down for him.

"W-we've gotta hurry," I whisper. "They think I'm missing again."

Fidelis

I grabbed his hand and let him pull me up. He led me out the same way he came and I took in a long breath of air. I was tempted to run off back home with him, but I knew it was risky. Although I was smart enough to never give anyone my address, I had the feeling the law would follow me the second my absence was noticed. "I can't go back to the apartment with you, dear heart. Even though the night shift didn't care less about me, the daylight shift is bound to notice I'm gone and the entire force will search the whole neighborhood for me." I embraced him. "Until my presence is forgotten, I have to either hide or fake both our deaths."

Allan

I look at him, afraid that he'd leave me if we went with the first option.

"D-don't leave me," I say, swallowing at how pathetic I sound.

I move closer and hesitantly twine my hand in his, wanting him to hold me and not let go.

Fidelis

The plea in his voice let me know that I can't hide without him with me, so the second option was our only chance. I pulled him towards me and took him off his feet to carry him into an abandoned alley. I set him on his feet and took off to look for a weapon. After killing a person who intended to murder someone, I stole his gun and returned to Allan. "I just checked this thing. It has two bullets in it, so we better make them count. When the enforcers show up, fire both bullets at the wall in different intervals. Make them think we shot each other dead. That's how I got the guards off my back when I was sired as a vampire. I faked my death to get the law away from me. I've done it once, I can do it again with you."

Allan

He carries me to an alley and runs off to bring back a gun.

"I just checked this thing. It has two bullets in it, so we better make them count. When the enforcers show up, fire both bullets at the wall in different intervals. Make them think we shot each other dead. That's how I got the guards off my back when I was sired as a vampire. I faked my death to get the law away from me. I've done it once, I can do it again with you." He says.

Swallowing, it's set in my hands. I'd never held a gun before... I glance up at him and nod, knowing that I could do it if he thought I could.

Fidelis

I could tell he was a little nervous, so I kissed his lips. "You can do it, Allan. I know you can. It's either we fake our deaths or I'm forced to leave you so I could hide. I don't want to leave you. It would murder me at the deepest if I leave you. Just go for it. Do for us, so we won't have to be apart."
Sirens rang through the neighborhood.
"This is it, dear heart. Do it so we won't be apart." I waited for him to carry out the plan.

Allan

"This is it, dear heart. Do it so we won't be apart," Fidelis says once the sirens begin to wail.

I take a breath, his kiss lingering on my lips, and lift the gun in the air. My hand slightly shaking, I pull the trigger, the bullet embedding in a brick on one side. Taking another deep breath, I move it and close my eyes, pulling the trigger the second time.

Fidelis

I collapsed and purposely pulled Allan down with me. I lowered my voice to a whisper. "Now the trick is to pretend you're sleeping when you're really playing dead." I put my hands on my chest to make it look like I was covering a wound, watching Allan follow suit. I closed my eyes and kept my ears open.
Someone screamed while an enforcer checked my pulse, which was a dumb idea since vampires were already dead. Allan and I were declared dead.
After what felt like ages, I opened my eye to see if the coast was clear. "All clear. You can get up now."

Allan

He tells me to play dead and I try my best, holding my breath. After a while, my head feels light and he gives the okay. Breathing again, I open my eyes and look at him, getting up as he does. Was it really that easy?

"H-how did they think I was dead?" I whisper, setting a hand on my heart.

Fidelis

"To confess, you might've took it from me. Before I met you, I've been studying other vampires and their slaves. The reason why most slaves were killed by their masters is because sometimes a slave becomes so content with his or her master, the former develops traits almost similar to a vampire. In your case, your heart rate stops at the sign of danger." I picked him up off his feet. "Now that we're declared dead, it's time we go home." I carried him home- our home in the apartment. Setting him in my bed, I laid down beside him and held him close in my arms. "Sleep now, dear heart. You're safe and home with me." I kissed his forehead and laid down on my back with his head against my chest.

Allan

Similar traits? As I think of this, he scoops me up and carries me home. A smile flickers across my face when we arrive back at the apartment. He lays beside me in his bed and kisses me goodnight, holding me close. My nerves a little jumpy still, I set my head on his chest and close my eyes, at peace.

Fidelis

I held him on top of me as he slept, purring while I stroked his arm. My time in prison had given us both a challenge, but I was glad to be free. If anything, I was willing to celebrate my freedom from prison with Allan. I kissed him again and covered us with my bedsheets to keep him warm. I fed from his neck, feeding slowly not to disturb his sleep. After feeding, I covered his wound with fresh gauze and medical tape. "Allan, my beautiful Allan. Thank you for helping me escape. I would've been lost forever without you."

Allan

He kisses and feeds from me while I sleep, patching my wound up once he's done - all without waking me. He whispers to me and I smile in my sleep, curling deeper against him. Every part of me relaxes and slips into an abyss of its own, my dreams of reality.

Fidelis

Daylight was quickly approaching, so I had to be quick about my instructions to Allan. "Day is coming, so I must sleep when it comes around. When you wake, feed yourself and drink plenty of fluids. Also, try to clean off the scent of garbage on your body and clothes." I yawned and fell asleep quickly without another word.

Allan

Fidelis whispers to me again, a little before I wake. My eyes set on the window, seeing that it's somewhat light outside, and then I turn to Fidelis, who is fast asleep. Silently, I slip out of bed without waking him and head off to do as he asks. I bathe first, then eat. Once finished like usual, I slip back in beside him, pretending as if I'd never left.
