Veltra overhead the statement Nick had sent Smaug's way, but ignored it. Veltra didn't trust Nick after him not being involved the first couple of attacks. If someone had died then, the obvious reason would be Nick's decisions.

At least, that's Veltra's mindset.

"There's no need for apologies, Nick. We all know you would rather fend for yourself, all mighty werewolf." Veltra mumbled under his breath.

Night was falling quickly, they had spent the whole day walking. Now that it was dusk it was time to stop and set up camp.
"Let's camp here for the night." Smaug suggested. "I'll keep watch over the woods tonight."
Smaug quickly got a fire going, "what are you doing?" Scarlett asked. "You're going to attract goblins!"
"Hopefully, that's what I'm trying to do, to get them all to come out when they think everyone's asleep except me. I don't think we really fall asleep unless you really need it."
Just after he finished, the bush behind Nicholas started rustling.

Nicholas had just apologized and Smaug was debating whether or not to accept it.
"It's ok as long as you promise to help out and particiapate in the fights to come. You recruted us, so you have to fight with, and for us."

Nicholas tensed, and stuck his clawed hand into his pouch, bracing himself for an attack. The bush shook and rattled. Everybody was looking around, waiting to be attacked. The thing in the bush leaped outwards, straight onto Nicholas. He roared and pushed it off. Then he settled down. "It's nothing," He called. "Just a wolfling." The tiny little creature purred, and rubbed up against him. He rubbed behind its ears, and it scampered off into the woods.
He stumbled slightly, the limp in his leg still there. He dared not to look at the place he used to call home. He could feel the heat from the fire, the fire that he himself had ignited. He blinked back tears, as he limped away.

Veltra ignored the wolfling, and continued to chew on the piece of jerky he had taken out. He had a whole pouch of it, but only had one piece a day, because elves had an immune system that could store energy that would last a human five hours and use it for a whole day. He noticed how Nick looked hungry, so he tossed one of the pieces onto his lap. Then Veltra started poking the fire with his sword, bored out of his wits.

Smaug sniggered, almost everyone had drawn their swords and daggers, when after all it turned out to be a wolf cub.

The bush started shaking again, "The wolfling's back again!" Smaug laughed. He walked over to the bush and was greeted by a troll. It picked him up by the neck and slammed him on the ground. It did it a second time but this time his head smashing into a rock.
Smaug's vision went dark.

(You must really like hurting your character...)

Nicholas reared back, alarmed. He pulled a small dagger out of his belt. He reached into his other belt pocket, and got a wood chip. He impaled the wood chip on the dagger, and then raised it to the sky. The wood merged with the knife. And then he stabbed himself with it.
He stumbled slightly, the limp in his leg still there. He dared not to look at the place he used to call home. He could feel the heat from the fire, the fire that he himself had ignited. He blinked back tears, as he limped away.

"Men!" thought Scarlett after Smaug had built the fire. They were always doing something to endanger their lives, recklessly attracting danger. She remembered the last time someone had ignored her warning. He had died, but not after regretting his choice. Scarlett could tell the future but sometimes she was wrong. In this case she hoped she was. When the wolfling jumped out she smiled, at least there were good things left in the forest. She then returned to her brooding by the fire, watching it crackle and burn.

When the troll came Scarlett had to resist a "I told you so." The tough and Honorable Smaug fainted on the ground, unconscious. When Nick stabbed himself , she thought he had lost it. She marched up to the troll and said,"Ugh! you should be ashamed of yourself. These are my friends. Haven't I taught you any better? Where are your manners? Sit!" And the troll sat down looking sheepish.
(yay!!! I was going to ask u for one)

Nicholas's body transformed, turning to steel. In just a few moments, he had become a steel werewolf. And then he saw Scarlett tame the troll, and he realized he had wasted a very good weapon. Big bummer.

Veltra watched quizzically as Nick stab himself. He rushed over, and reached out to him, but pulled back. He realized there must be a method to his madness. Veltra turned around and took out his sword, then leaped at the beast. It swatted him aside like he was a fly, but Veltra landed on his feet. He charged again, but this time the troll kicked him, and as his foot connected with his gut, Veltra heard a sickening crack, and flew backwards into a bush. Veltra grabbed his chest, which had a bone poking through the skin. He groaned and heard the troll make more noises from the opening. While trying to stand, Veltra felt a set of hands tie a bandana around his eyes, then on his face. Another set grabbed his shoulders, and tied his hands together. Then he was dragged off, and he was soon unconscious.

Scarlett saw the amazed look on Nick's eyes and said, " I raised him from when he was born. Then I let him join his kind. He can help us he is tame." As a response to that the troll said "URgh!" Scarlett then saw Veltra being dragged off. "Don't waste your skill! Free Vletra!!" and Nick ran off

Veltra woke up in extreme pain, every part of his body bound with ropes to a tree. He coughed up blood, and looked into the eyes of what looked like a troll mixed with a goblin. It had deep green and brown skin, two twisted horns, and a long scar along it's left cheek. Veltra spat in it's face. In response the thing punched his gut, which aggravated his shattered ribs.

"Look at the poor elf, scum and all. Such a shame you were the only bit my friends could manage to capture."

Veltra wiggled, but nothing loosened. He stared at the ground. He looked up and saw his sword and dagger lying by a tree close by. No weapons, but I have magic. They don't know about magic. Veltra tried to summon the will to use the powers, but there was no result. The enemy's leader noticed his mental strain.

"No magic, eh? Sorry about that, just a quick potion I whipped up. My spellcasters are such wonders."

Veltra struggled to stay awake, but failed in the process.

(Yes, I DO enjoy hurting my character. LOL)

Smaug came to slowly but surely, he looked around the campsite and noticed that Nick and Veltra were missing. But there was a trail of blood starting at a bush and leading into the woods. He sat up and saw Scarlett sitting next to him, wrapping his head in bandages.
"You ok?" She asked.
Smaug nodded.
"Where are Veltra and Nicholas?" He asked.
She stared at the ground. "Veltra got abducted and Nick went after him."
Smaug jumped to his feet and sprinted into the forest, following the blood trail, bandages flapping as he ran at full speed, into the forest.
