Veltra saw the threat towards Scarlett, and quickly reached into his mind for a spell, and felt the magic welt up inside. He held his hand out towards the goblin, and muttered, "A'shubai." A white mist crawled from his palm, and shot at the goblin, and then slid into it's mouth. The goblin isntantly collapsed.

"There's obviously more knowing goblins then we thought." Then he collapsed from exhaustion.

Smaug caught Veltra before he hit the ground.
"Make a circle," Smaug growled to the rest of the team, "there are more goblins out there, lots more." Smaug laid Veltra on the ground and stood back, pondering. "Does anyone have healing powers?" Smaug questioned. "We need to get Veltra back on his feet as soon as possible. We can't afford to have him like this if we get attacked." Almost as if Smaug had summoned them, two more goblings appeared, on either side of the group. Which were quickly joined by two more. They were surrounded.

Nicholas watched from the trees. He was staying away from them, for now. He needed to truly see if they were trustworthy. The elf's stamina and power was truly interesting, but most of the more powerful elves were dark elves. So he watched. He too had seen the red eyes from the shadows, and the body that they belonged to. But picking fights without reason was foolish. He would hide, and watch, for now. But he noticed several more goblins appear. This was a problem. With the elf unconscious, they might not be able to survive that. If things got rough, he might just need to intervene.
He stumbled slightly, the limp in his leg still there. He dared not to look at the place he used to call home. He could feel the heat from the fire, the fire that he himself had ignited. He blinked back tears, as he limped away.

After coming to, Veltra noticed the ring of goblins gleaming at the group. He also observed Nicholas watching from a nearby tree. He squinted at Nick quizzically, but Nicholas just stared back. Veltra stood warily, and shrugged off the help of Smaug. As he stoof he fell again, down to his left knee, but he willed himself to not go down any farther. He held out his right hand to single to the group that he can manage. After a deep breath, he noticed the goblins were closing in.

"Smaug, ca-, can you grab me m-, my sword?" Smaug nodded, and tossed Veltra the blade. He stood, but leaned on Smaug's shoulder for support. "I can make it, let them come." Smaug nodded.

Veltra stepped forwards. "Hey Nick, are you gonna help, or what?"

The first goblin sprang.

Despite the closing ring of goblins, Smaug kept one eye on Veltra just in case he needed help. Then he noticed a goblin was leaping toward them, so he took his sythe, and swung at his leg. The goblin fell to the ground as its leg was sliced clean off, spraying blood into the air. The goblin squealed in pain and horror as it watched Smaug's blade decend upon its head. The goblin gave one last shriek before the scythe entered its skull. Smaug felt a sudden sharp, stab of pain. He turned around to find a goblin had stabbed him in the arm. It grinned at him with triumph. Confused at the grin but mad nontheless, Smaug took a swipe, but missed as it jumped off. When it landed, it was despatched quickly by Veltra who, despite his condition, managed to take the head off a goblin. Veltra glanced at Smaug's arm where he was stabbed and said, "what was on that blade?"
Smaug looked down at his arm to see the wound was surrounded by purple goo. Or more commonly known as, poison.

Having supernatural powers did NOT help at a time like this. Scarlett knew this. She watched helplessly as she saw her companions be attacked by a horde of goblins. Veltra had saved her life but almost at the cost of his. When she saw the poison on Smaug's arm she flinched, but thankfully she knew where she could find the cure, if only they could be free of the goblins. All her life she'd either been in prison or in hiding, no one had taught her how to fight. Scarlett then opened up her mind and called all the friendly spirits in the area.

They came, by the dozens ,surrounding their friends, invisible to everyone but her. Her heart broke at the sight of so many 'animus' of young children. Too many had died in the forest by the hands of the goblins."Please defend my friends against the goblins and I will free you from this earth", she asked. The ghosts rose silently, turned, picked up tree branches and attacked with full, deadly and invisible force.

The poison was already starting to take effect on Smaug, his eyesight was slowly getting blurry and he was starting to trip over his own feet. He didn't have much faith in himself for fighting. Suddenly, the goblin in front of him started yelping for no apparent reason. It was cowering from attacks that could not be seen. Soon, all the goblins were yelping and fleeing into the forest but sooner or later, all the goblins were killed by the same mysterious force. Glad to be free from the goblins, Smaug turned his attention to his wound. He squeezed the wound in between his fingers, allowing some poison/blood mixture to seep out. When he stood up, he imedeately went down again, getting up onto his knee, Smaug tried to focus on a simple, crushed flower. It was instead a blurr of color, how was he supposed to fight without being able to see?

Right when Veltra was swinging his longsword at the first goblin in his path, a swarm of branches and leaves mobbed it. He became almost baffled, and turned around to see Scarlet in a near fixed trance, not paying attention to what was happening. Veltra could feel almost instantly that she was a supernatural beacon. He stood aware of his surroundings as the tornado of twigs pushed farther and farther out. The activity died down, and Veltra leaned on his sword, and looked at the group members who searched for an explanation for the recent happenings.

He walked over to Scarlet, and asked, "So, how are your friends?" He coughed after the statement, still wiped out from his previous task.

Scarlet opened her mouth, but then just looked down.

The poison was slowly getting worse, Smaug had now lost control over his left arm. He slowly tried standing, then he lost control of his left leg, he collapsed on the ground. The poison's effects were coming on very fast. Before he knew it, he was foaming at the mouth, convulsing, and shaking uncontrollably.

Scarlett broke out of the trance she saw Smaug, black and blue dying on the ground. She hadn't come this far to lose another spirit to the netherworld so soon. Scarlett told Veltra to take care of Smaug while she went to go look for the plant. Hurry, hurry, hurry she told herself as she ran through the forest looking for the bright purple plant that would cure the poison. Where is it?? She wanted to scream with frustration she knew they were abundant in these woods. On her right she saw it on the top of a tree, she climbed up picked it and raced back to the clearing where the group was. Seeing Smaug she knelt down and told him to eat the flower.

Everything was blurry, he couldn't see a thing, except the outline of...Veltra? He was pinning his arms and legs to the ground and talking... saying to try and hold still. Then another figure came into view...Scarlett, she was holding a purple plant and saying to eat it. Eat a flower? He did his best to open his mouth as she placed that flower in. He chewed and swallowed just as his vision went black.

Veltre put his right hand on Scarlet's left shoulder, and opened his mouth to speak, but heard Smaug collapse. He turned around, and muttered, "Oh god, the poison."

He sprinted to Smaug in a matter of seconds, given the insane speed elves are known for. He dropped to his knees, and put his hand on Smaug's slashed arm. Veltra looked around quickly, then stated, "Luckily it isn't a complicated spell. It won't use my stamina too much."

He muttered the words, and could see the improvement. Smaug's shaking had stopped, and only his deep breathing could be heard.

Behind Veltra an injured goblin crawled up, with his two broken legs and pierced gut, but he lifted his dagger, then brought it down.

Right as Veltra stood, a sharp sting pierced his left calf. He yelped, wheeled around and nearly kicked the thing's head off. It grunted as it;s head whipped back, then went silent. Veltra collapsed, too weak to do anything, as his calf gushed red.

Now two group members were in crucial condition.

(why do you guys post a second before I do? I had to change the story around 3 times)
"Is he dead?" screamed Veltra. "No, he isn't.I would be the first to know if he had died." Scarlett snapped "It takes a moment for the flowers magic to kick in." Scarlett sat on her haunches looking at Smaug motionless on the ground. She wondered why hadn't Nick helped them and looked around. Scarlett then heard Smaug's breathing return to normal.

When she saw the goblin slash Veltra and saw more behind them she knew they were in trouble. She then cried out " Amito aragato vetri veni!!!" The goblins collapsed, the spirits sucked out of them and Scarlett crumpled to the groung, exhausted.

Smaug's vision was starting to return, the color, the beautiful color, and trees and flowers and....bloody Veltra. Smaug crouched beside him and started inspecting the wound, it didn't seem to be poisoned which was good. But it was gushing blood. And Scarlett was on the ground. Torn, Smaug turned his attention to Veltra who was in critical condition. Smaug reached over to Scarlett and grabbed some spare bandages to wrap Veltra's leg in. After doing that, Smaug crawled over to Scarlett and checked for pulse, yep, normal breathing. So Smaug left her where she was, the blood flowing from his calf was stopping. Since Smaug was receiving no help from the other group members it was taking a lot longer. Veltra seemed fine, for now so Smaug took watch over the group. Veltra and Scarlett were zonked out which was more or less good, as they needed the sleep. So Smaug turned his attenion to the woods.

As Scarlett slept she had fitful dreams of the past, present and future. Some guardian she was ,she let them all almost be killed and it was all her fault. She knew plenty about controlling spirits and magical herbal remedies but nothing about weaponry. When she was young her parents were killed by creatures with swords in front of her eyes. She'd been terrified of them ever since. Her moon necklace glowed absorbing the light around her and converting it to energy. Soon ,she would wake and when she did she needed to ask her companions to teach her how to defend herself.
