Milo

There was something that he wanted to ask Cree, but he didn't know exactly how to say it. He liked being called Mi, he thought as he knocked on her door. But only Cree was allowed to call him that. He shook his head slightly. He did not need to start crushing on Cree. He was about to fight his way out of that hell hole, and worrying about Cree wouldn't help him any. Then again, Cree was his best friend in the whole place; she was smart, sly, and said whatever was on her mind. That's what he liked about her. He'd liked that about her since he'd been brought to the place as an infant. Milo had a slight memory of Cree standing up for him while they played tag and someone had pushed him down on purpose with their wing.

"What do you think, Mi?" Cree asked. She'd been talking? Milo didn't know what she'd said.

His cheeks warmed in embarrassment. He hadn't been listening. "Umm...sorry?"

"Where is your head sometimes?" Fawn had left to her room, and Cree crossed to him. She grabbed his hair in her hands and shook his head back and forth, jokingly. Milo's breath hitched at her proximity. She was so warm and her wings were rediculously soft as they-unconsciously on her part-wrapped around Milo. He couldn't think of anything but her at that moment. He sighed in delight when she didn't immediately move away.

I looked down quickly, face rather pink. He wasn't moving away -yay!- but I had no idea what was going in his mind. I was a fire freak, not a mind one. I looked back up, leaning slightly against the wall. Play it cool, Scarlet.

"So. You think Fawn's plan's going to work?" Milo asked, gazing offhandedly at her door. Several ominous noises were coming from it. I couldn't be prouder.

"Knowing Fawn? Absolutely. And even if it doesn't, she'll find a way."

Milo made a clicking noise. "Sure thing for her."

It was then that the new girl wandered in, looking, still, upset. She spotted us and made a face that read, "What? Am I a freak or something?" I snorted softly and knocked three times low, once high on the wall behind me.

Is she serious?

Once low, two middle, once high.

I think she thinks she is.

I laughed and leaned my head back, looking up at the ceiling tiles. Smirking, I pointed out a cluster that looked like teardrop.

"Punch buddy."

Angel:

After they finished taking "tests" on me they let me go to roam free for a while.People all over where making noises. and i didn't know why. One of them, or like me, looked at me and I made a face. Then after a minute, she put her head back and was talking to a black guy who i thought was a guy names Milo but i wasn't sure. I walked over to them and sat down. "What are you guys doing making noises and such here?" I know they probably didn't want to talk, but i was starting to get lonely.

*This is all i had! Sorry! :) *

I'll bring you in, UntameableTiger :)

Andy

I watched after Kat as she left the table. Break out? Not that I didn't want to; I wanted nothing more. But even with all of us fighting, will all of our strength and fury combined, it would be hard. I lowered my head a little as I thought about it, and Milo and Cree's conversation was suddenly muted to me. It would give me the perfect excuse to practice some with my...powers, which would, of course, be a very good thing.

Milo and Cree left the table after a short while, which snapped me out of my thoughts. I leaned back against my chair and continued to think. I was among those 18-year-residents that Kat had mentioned. 18 years I had endured the tortures that they insisted on inflicting upon us. 18 years I had been trapped here, without hope of escape. It had been 18 years, and now, finally, our time was coming. Even if it would be hard for us, the rage and revenge that had built up inside us would give us the edge we needed; I could feel it.

"18 years," I whispered to myself quietly.

"You know you want to get out of here," I replied.

"Yes, of course," I said. "But it won't be easy.

"Well, no one said it would be easy. But--" My conversation with myself was interrupted when an enormous bundle of purple and blue passed by the table.

It was Alida. Her focus was on something on the wall behind me. I looked up at her and she broke her focus for a second to glance down, but she didn't stop walking. I turned around and tried to see what was on the wall that she was going after, but I saw nothing.

"Where are you going?" I asked her.

She froze, then came back to the table and sat across from me. "Nowhere," she replied stiffly. "Just walking. Thinking."

I nodded slowly. "I see..." An awkward silence blanketed the table. I desperately searched my mind for anything that might break it. "Um...how did testing go for you today, Alida?"

Her eyes moved very slowly to my face. "Just Ali," she said quietly. I nodded and she continued. "Same as always." Confidence was filling into her voice.

I nodded again.

Fawn

As I pulled the tingly feeling from my stomach, I carefully checked the hallway. Perfect. Delmovitz was at the end of the hall, coming to give me the afternoon shot. I thought about the most destructive animal I knew. A rhino. Definitely. I visualized the beast, and next thing I knew, I was flailing about the room, my horn digging easily into the white bricks and tossing the matress around like a pillow. As I finished wrecking everything in sight, I sensed Delmovitz coming and morphed back just as he entered.
"What is going on in here!?" He hollered. I glanced at him, gave a quick smirk, and let out a short, shrill scream.
"What the--?" Delmovitz suddenly got it and only made my plan better by grabbing my arm and staring me hard in the eye. I forced some tears out and put a hurt girimace on my face as the military men came hustling in.
"Ben!?" One of them said. "What are you doing!?" the two men looked at the room, the needle, his grasp on my arm, and the look on my face. Instantly, they glared at him and pulled out the handcuffs. delmovitz dropped his grip and I let myself fall to the floor, making my wings look tired and broken.
"You don't understand!" He shouted. "She was just--!" 'Ben' was interrupted by the second man.
"Yeah yeah. You know the rules, Ben. You're not to lay a hand on the tests. The third man stayed behind and looked from me to the room and back.
"Well. What to do. You're certainly not going to stay here. You're not safe." He muttered, half to himself. "You need a protector...but who..." I stopped crying and put a look of horror on my face.
"Not cree! Please not Cree! She's the worst! She doesn't like me! It's because I'm treated differently and she threatned to kill me because of it!" I thought about my newest addition to the plan. Well done.
"Well, she's very strong, but we cannot lose another test..." He trailed off. "Alright. Here's the plan. You're rooming with Cree, but we're going to have to put you on her schedule. Perhaps you rats will get along for once. Get your stuff and get out." His attitude changed and I grabbed my pillow and a blanket that wasn't too shredded. As I walked to Cree's room, I saw a great looking guy walking down the hall. I knew him as Andy, but I'd never really talked to him. He seemed to be radiating energy, when my eyes caught his. Something about him told me he was different...Maybe I'd found the guy I was supposed to be with. Noticing he was looking at me kind of funny, I ducked into Cree's room, knowing she'd ask about my blush, and being full prepared to tell her.

**Just a note, I changed Andy's appearance ^^ I didn't like it anymore xD

Andy

After a short conversation between Ali and I, she got up and left without a word. I watched after her curiously.

"She's a bit odd," I said to myself.

"You're telling me," I responded.

I chuckled. "Yes, I am actually."

I looked around suspiciously, to see if anyone had noticed that I was, once again, conversing with myself as though there were two of me here. Leaving my tray on the table, I stood up and left the dining area. I walked slowly back to my room. I thought that, since we'd only be here for a short while longer, I might as well try to enjoy it. Ha. Yeah right.

As I walked down a hall, I heard a loud crash coming from another room. I paused for a moment, almost afraid to continue. My hand independently moved to the dragon pendant around my neck and I fiddled with it. Some of the military men came running. There was a lot of shouting and then a doctor was dragged out of the room in handcuffs.

"Wow," I whispered. "To whoever managed to get a doctor arrested and fired, good on you! You're awesome!"

This time, I wasn't even talking to myself. I shook my head, as if to wake myself up from some kind of dream-like state and continued to my room. As I neared the destruction site, a girl, a few years younger than me, hurried out of it. Her purple hair was a bit of a mess, and her eyes...I had never seen such green eyes. I raised an eyebrow. Was she the one who created that whole scene?

She looked up at me as we passed. Her eyes widened and her pupils dilated. A strange sort of energy came from her as I walked by her. It was odd: did she have the same powers as me? I didn't stop walking as we passed each other, but our eye contact was not broken either. She broke away first and ducked quickly into Cree's room. I shook my head again and rose myself from another dream-state.

As I passed the room, I tried to look inside. I got a millisecond glimpse at the destroyed room before one of the military men closed the door. I looked at him and he fake-coughed, indicating me to move along.

"Hmph," I grunted with annoyance, and finally made it to my room. As I flopped onto the bed, I picked up the stuffed tiger who was waiting for me. "Oh boy, Safari, have I got something to tell you."

I held my fist out to the side. Milo bumped it with his own. "Score one for the wingy freaks!"

"Wingy freaks?"

"Spur of the moment nickname."

"Ah."

I chuckled. "And to answer your question," I said, pointing at the girl, "we are absolutely innocent." And with that, I turned and sauntered into my room, grinning like there was no tomorrow.

"Someone's happy," Fawn remarked, a little smugly. "And rather... heh heh... close to Milo?"

Blushing profusely, I shrugged, tilting my head. "And don't think I didn't see that blush, missy!" I said, a hand on my hip.

"Okay, okay, fine. You got me." She took a deep breath, but I held up a hand.

"You don't have to tell me. I'm a girl, and therefore know these things. Now, take a sit." I said, gesturing to her bed, set up nice and neat. I flopped onto my own, still loving my ten-year-old decision to shove it in the corner.

Fawn

"Oh, Cree, I'd never seen anything like him. He was great. Strong. Gorgeous." I sighed remembering Andy as I passed him.
Cree laughed. "I'd always thought you were the hard to get type, Fawn! Where's the girl I became friends with all those years ago, huh?" I laughed halfheartedly at the joke.
"Well, I suppose you'll see him at dinner," She said. Dinner. I'd almost forgotten. I took a second to let girlish butterflies take over my stomach and got up to fix my hair. I probably looked like something the docs dragged in when he saw me. What a mess. I brushed my teeth and quickly turned into a snake to spit venom on the floor. It worked wonders for making hair stay.
"What the hell are you doing?" Cree said with a shocked look on her face.
"Watch." I chuckled. I got some venom on my finger and began to curl my hair. Cree watched as my hair became a cute curly mess.
"You better let me use that or I'm kicking you out." Cree said, sounding serious. I laughed and let her use the rest of it.
"More where that came from." I laughed.

As I got a bowl of mush and searched for a table, I decided to sit alone and see what Andy would do. Cree gave me a confused look from her perch with Milo, ad I simply pointed to the figure walking into the door and she understood. She gave me wink and a thumbs up, and I felt the blush coming on. The next thing I knew, Andy had sheepishy scooted into the seat next to me. I looked over at him, to see his eyes on me. I didn't mean to smile at him, it just...happened. He smiled back, and my courage was gaining points by the minute.
"Hi," I said quietly to him. "I'm Fawn." I kicked myself for the stupid introduction, but he kept smiling
"Andy..." He said. "You...Got that doctor fired, right?" He asked. I chuckled at my trick.
"Part of the breakout plan." I whispered, making sure the guards didn't hear. That was the last thing we needed.
"Damn," He said. "You have to teach me how to do that someday." We both laughed, but he paused and added- "care to come to my room after dinner? It'd be fun to talk to you." I said yes after a moment of pretending to think, and finished my mush quickly. I glanced over at Cree and gave a thumbs up. She nodded, smiled, pointed at Milo, and gave a thumbs up, too.
I turned to see Andy finished with his mush, and let him take my wrist and lead me down the hallway to his room, which was surprisingly right next to Cree's. As we entered, I hoped that this visit would lead to the two things I'd been dreming about my whole life: My first boyfriend, and my first kiss.

I turned the charm on to the max.

I'm trying to hurry it up to the escape part, but I don't want to go to fast, so don't linger on too much detail while they're walking the halls.

~Katrina~

I didn't say a word, which seemed to be usual these days. I didn't speak much anymore, and I knew I had family, but they weren't my real family. I didn't know who my real family was, therefore I had no family. The fact didn't shake me, it didn't bring tears to my eyes. I didn't know what a normal life was like. For all I knew, they could do testing every day like we do. Yea, we all knew that didn't happen. We were different, beasts with no place on this earth.

"So we have to make one," I said to myself sternly. "We have to make one." I was ready for war, the war. The war that we had to fight. I was ready for it. Well, all but the fighting, and even though I had told them I wouldn't fight, I would. I wasn't going to stand back and let my family take the fall for me. And what if one of them died? What then? It would all be my fault.

It was this knowledge that brought me to my senses. That next morning, I knew I had to actually fight in combat, like it or not. One human stood in front of each of us as we prepared to fight. I could do this, I would do this. I would hurt a human, innocent even after all they had done to us. I took my stance as everyone else did. I closed my eyes for a second, taking in a long draw of air.

"Fight!" The instructor yelled as my breath ended and my eyes flashed open. We fought with long poles that retracted when not in use, not real weapons yet, not until we proved we could handle a real sword. The object was to get the opponent down on the ground whatever it took.

For the first time, I actually fought, swinging the stick hard to hit him in the ribs. With a groan, he smiled, but it wasn't a "good job" smile. It was more of those "I will kill you no matter it takes" kind of smiles, the kind I hated. He jabbed my stomach with the pole, making me drop to one knee. I wasn't done yet. I charged, jabbing him hard in the stomach with the end of the pole. He flew backwards, landing on the ground with another groan and then a whimper. Some of the others looked at me, stunned. I had actually fought. The first time in the 18 years I've been here. I was proud and shocked as I we to stand over him, flashing him an "I will be free and you better not stand in my way" smile, and putting he end of the pole at his throat. I walked away then before any of the men thought I was going to kill him. I was only doing this for my family, not to kill the humans, though they deserved it.

And I fought them, over and over again, winning each time and improving dramatically. As I did, my family was giving me a "good job" grin that I needed to help me get through this.

Andy

I proceeded to tell Safari all about the destruction scene and the girl.

"And you know what the weirdest part was?" I looked into Safari's plastic eyes and they stared back at me. I paused for a moment, as though he was answering my question. "No, it wasn't that a girl her age could destroy the room the way she did. It was the energy that I felt when we passed by each other. I think we both have the same power." Safari stared at me. To any other person, he would just have the same furry face that he always has, but to me, he was surprised. "No, I'm serious! I thought I was the only one too, but... I don't know." Silence was all I received from the stuffed animal. "Hm... Should I?" Silence. "Alright, I'll ask her at dinner tonight." I looked at him suspiciously. "But if we're wrong, I'm blaming you!" I set the tiger down on my pillow and left the room.

A bit of slop splashed my hand as the lady dropped it on my plate. I looked down, a little disgusted, then waved to the lady and left. Her annoyed face did not change, or, if it did, it only became more annoyed. I turned around and my golden eyes immediately fell on the girl. She was looking down at her slop, pushing it around with her spoon. I raised an eyebrow and an amused little grin came to my face. I sat down by her casually.

Things happened kinda fast, and before I knew it, I was leading the girl, Fawn, to my dorm room. Her curled hair bounced as she walked. It was kinda...cute. I led her inside and left the door open, so as to eliminate some of the "awkward". She strolled in and sat on my bed. She swung one leg over the other and leaned back casually. A look of surprise came to her face when she saw Safari.

"You...sleep with a stuffed tiger?" She asked me.

"Huh?" I asked, looking over at her. "Oh, yes. His name is Safari. You can hold him if you want." I was a little bit absent-minded as I walked to the barred window and peered out. My white wing twitched a little bit, and a couple of seconds later, the black one copied it. "He's very friendly."

I heard Fawn laugh quietly. ...What? I wasn't ashamed of him; he was one of my best friends. Maybe, though, most guys my age still didn't keep stuffed animals, let alone talk to them or have them for best friends. I coughed nervously, which was unusual for me. Normally, I was completely relaxed around girls; smooth, cool, and confident. But something about Fawn made me nervous. Oh, great. That meant that this would be harder than I thought. I cleared my throat.

"Um, I don't know if you noticed earlier," I began, "but there was some kind of...energy when we passed in the hall earlier today." I glanced back at the girl, finally feeling relaxed for the first time since she told me her name. I raised an eyebrow in an almost questioning or interrogative manner.

Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly. "Actually," she said quietly, "I did."

I swallowed hard, suddenly nervous again. Dammit. "I think," I said, walking over to the bed and sitting beside her, "that we have the same power."

Fawn suddenly seemed to become nervous too. "Power?" She asked me. "You mean...the animal thing?"

I chuckled. "That's it," I said. I shot a quick, inconspicuous nod in Safari's direction. Fawn was now holding the furry tiger.

She laughed almost flirtatiously. I smiled at her coolly. For a few minutes, we just sat like that; the both of us smiling at each other. Fawn blinked and I laughed nervously. My attention turned to the floor and I felt my face heat up. Fawn let out a nervous laugh as well. I coughed quietly. Fearful of what might occur if I allowed this to go on much longer, I looked back up at her.

"Um..." I began, "tomorrow is a fighting training day, and I think I need to rest up for it, so, um..."

A new expression came to Fawn's face; it was almost disappointed. Regardless, she nodded slowly. "So do I," she said quietly. Her voice, too, was clouded with disappointment.

She gently set Safari down on the bed and stood up. I walked with her to the door and watched after her as she went to Cree's room.

"Hey," I said to her. She looked at me, expressionless. "I'll see you tomorrow." A half-hearted smile shone on her face and she went into her room.

I stood in my doorway for a moment or so more, watching Cree's door. I swallowed hard and thought about the decision I had just made. After a bit, I slowly went back into my room and closed the door. Safari was sitting on my bed, staring at me with no expression on his face.

"...shut up."

Milo

Milo stood in the hallway as Cree went into her room. She'd moved away from him when they were so close and it hurt. He'd thought that there was something there but maybe he'd been taking things the wrong way. Yes, now that he thought about it, he was sure that she only liked him as a friend.

Ace bumped into him on her way down the hall. He hadn't liked her since they were 'Little Angels.' The scientists used to call them that as a running joke, but it was never very funny. "Get out of my way, Milo." She turned around, quickly grabbed his wing, and spun him to the ground. I'm sick and tired of having my wings pulled today, he thought as a plan quickly formed in his head. He knew that he could make her do something that she wouldn't want to, but he didn't know how or why. If he wanted her to massage his wings, she would do it with no protest. And that's exactly what she did.

"What the hell?" she said, when there was no pain in his wings. "Why am I touching you? I thought that was Cree's job." Milo blushed with embarrassment and he tried to hide the redness of his cheeks. Ace looked around and said, "And why am I in your room?" Before she knew what was happening, Milo made her go back to her room. He didn't like her, and he didn't want to hear her stupid questions anymore.

He lay down on his bed and felt himself falling into oblivion. The lack of pain would come in handy tomorrow. Combat Day. What fun, Milo thought sarcastically.

As I was returning to Cree's room after talking with Andy, I sat on the bed and played with my hair absentmindedly. It was something I did when my mind was on other things. I didn't have much time to think before Cree came in. Her brilliant red wings fluttered as she yawned and cursed training day.
"Better rest up." She muttered to herself. "See you tomorrow!" A happier tone came into her voice. I recalled Andy's parting words as I thought about what might happen tomorrow. I was determined to show him I could fight well. I closed my eyes, and visualized his burning golden eyes and his unusual wings. And I couldn't forget to think about adorable Safari who he had. I sighed and drifted off to sleep, forgetting to fold my wings in for the night.

Training day came too early, ad before I knew it, I was sitting at a table with Any half asleep and my vision fuzzy from the groggyness. I shook my head and blinked my eyes a little to wake myself up. It worked a little, but not much. I yawned and looked down at my mush. I was so hungry, it looked almost appatizing. I decided to strike up a conversation and said-
"Aw, man. This stuff looks almost appetizing." Andy laughed and said, "For it to actually be appetizing, you'd have to be dead, right?" We both laughed and I went to eating my mush, observing Cree and Milo and how cute the looked together. Did they think the same way about Andy and me? I mean, I wasn't really his girlfriend, but we were getting there.
I thought.

The thing that really woke me up was getting stabbed in the stomach with a pole. I wasn't expecting it, so I fell to the ground and sat there on my knees for a second, trying to catch my breath. Andy looked at me with a worried gaze in his eyes. I waved to him in an I'm-fine kind of way, and he went back to fighting, occasoinally looking over at me. Before I got up, I noticed Kat was fighting. Well. I'd never seen her fight before, and she was kicking ass. I got up slowly, and glared at the guy with the pole. He came at me but I blocked it, grabbing the pole with both hands. However, this guy was smart. He pulled it up and over my head, with me still holding on. He then proceeded to flip me over. I landed hard on the ground, and in the process hit my head on both the pole and the floor. Things went black for about five seconds, and when I gathered my thoughts, I didn't dare to look at Andy.
"If there is a God, may he come down and spite me." I muttured, humiliated. When I took the chance to look up, almost everyone was staring.
"Damn it!" I said. I then decided to let the guy beat me up, to ot even fight. All I wanted was for training day to be over.
