(I knew all we needed was a little nudge to get the storybook moving again. :D Thanks for coming back everyone. I also finally got all of our character's zodiac signs figured out. I posted the list in the discussion thread. The reason why I wanted that list is so when our characters encounter more zodiac stones in the future we'll know which stone reacts to which person.)

Ren

Ren was laying on his bed, reflecting on what Index had told him as he looked at the orb that sat on his table. A power conduit that enhances an esper's powers, was such a thing even possible? It had to be, otherwise Takeo wouldn't have become so strong so quickly. Ren let out a sigh. Too bad the orb didn't work on everyone. If it did, maybe then he could feel what it's like to be something more than a Level 2.

That's when he remembered something else Index had told him. There were twelve stones in total, one for each zodiac sign. That meant there had to be a Virgo stone out there somewhere. But considering his luck, it was probably on the other side of the planet.

His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a knock at his front door, followed by the sound of Cait's voice. What was she doing here? He started to get up and head for the door when he remembered the orb. He didn't want her to get caught up into whatever was going on, so he had to hide it. He grabbed the stone and tossed it under his bed. Once it was out of sight he went to answer the front door.

When he opened the door he found Cait trying to catch her breath. "Cait, are you okay?" he asked.

"I should be asking you that. Why didn't you show up at school today?"

"I... just needed some personal time," Ren said.

She frowned a little. "That's not like you, Ren. You always show up at school, no matter what."

She had him there. Ever since he was a kid he always tried to make it to school on time, even if he was sick. Punctuality was one of the traits his parents had beaten into his skull since day one. The only time he would ever try to skip a day of school was if he was puking-his-guts-out sick, and Cait knew it.

Ren quickly tried to think up an excuse. "Well, I was feeling pretty bad this morning, but I started getting better in the afternoon. I figured, since I already missed half of my classes what would be the point in trying to get to the last ones if I'm just going to end up being late?"

Cait's frown deepened. "You're hiding something," she told him bluntly.

Sky

Sky stopped in front of a round glass stone on one of the shelves with many other artefacts. The glass had a light blue tint to it, and the zodiac sign of Virgo was carved into the surface. The clean, bright looking orb easily stood out amongst the rest of the dirty earth-coloured statues that occupied the shelf.

"It's just a glass ball," Bianca said.

"That's no ordinary glass ball," The shopkeeper said as he approached the two girls.

"What do you mean?" Sky asked.

"About ten years ago a man in white robes came into my store and gave it to me. He wouldn't tell me exactly what it was, only that it was an object of great power if held in the hands of a certain person."

"Really...?" Sky said as she turned back toward the orb. She felt a little mystified by the object.

The old man added, "If you're interested, I'll let you have it for 1500 yen."

Bianca and Sky both stared at him for a moment. "If this thing is so powerful, why are you selling it so cheaply?" Bianca asked.

"This is a business I'm running here. I can't fill my stomach with pretty statues. Besides, the stone does nothing when I hold it, so what use would I have for it?"

"But still, it seems like such a low price for something you made sound so important," Sky said.

"The stone only works for a certain person. Maybe that person is one of you two? If not, maybe you can find the person it does react to..."

(By the way, 1500 yen is around $15.00)

Takeo

The woman frowned hard as she watched Takeo come after her again. "You're starting to get on my nerves, kid." She released Lena's arm for a moment to sheath her sword. When Taki was within reaching distance she slammed her knee into his stomach. Takeo fell to the ground in a cringing heap. He clutched his stomach as he struggled to breathe. He tried to move, but he was paralyzed by the pain.

The woman turned back to Lena and grabbed her arm again. She looked at Ayaka and Jordan and said, "Walk where I can see you." The two of them hesitantly moved so they were in front of the woman with their backs turned. She shoved Lena forward a bit and said, "Lead the way."

"What about my friend?" She asked, looked over her shoulder to where Taki was laying.

"You have more pressing matters to be worried about right now. Move!" She pushed her forward again, a little hard this time.

Takeo could do nothing but watch as the group walked down the street. The sound of cars and voices started to pick up the further they went. By the time they were out of sight, the streets were bustling with people and vehicles once again.

Taki felt someone helping him to his feet. "Hey kid, are you all right?" the stranger asked.

"I-I'll be fine," he said as he tried to walk on his own feet, staggering a little as he went.

"Are you sure? The I could take you to the hospital, it's not that far from here."

Takeo ignored him, his mind was set on more important matters. How could Lena lead that woman to the orb so willingly? Weren't they trying to keep it out of the hands of those people? And what about Ren, was she planning on betraying him, too?

Takeo shook his head, he wouldn't let this happen. The orb was given to him, it belonged to him! If Lena was going to lead that woman to the orb, he would just have to get there first and hide it somewhere else. He rushed off down the street, taking as many shortcuts as he could to get to Ren's house. He had to get there first.

(Hey Undertaker, can you have Lena lead the woman to an empty park somewhere?)

((Sure thing!))

Lena

This did not go like she had thought it would. Then again, things never seem to. I was going to take the women to my house, but that did not seem like the best idea. There was no way to get out if things got hectic, which I got the feeling that they were going to be very soon.

Suddenly a flash back of Taki’s face came in to my mind. Did he really think that I would do that? These thoughts continued running through my head as I lead the way down street after street. But back to the current matter at hand, where was I going to take her?

After a few minutes of walking, she grabbed my arm, twisted me around and looked at me. “Where is it?” she questioned. “We are almost there, calm your horses.” I stated. Taking of couple of turns here and there, we ended up at a empty parking lot. Stopping, I turned around to face her, “We’re here.” I stated.

Cait

His face turned red slightly as he turned away. "No, I'm not - " he tried.

"Yes, you are!" she hissed, pushing the door open and entering the apartment. "I know you, Ren, it's not like you to miss school - for anything. Now, please. Can't you just trust me?"

She watched his face. Whatever was on his mind was bothering him, deeply. He seemed a little scared, even, like terrified to let anyone know about...whatever was bothering him. She sighed; she shouldn't have been so harsh with him, if it was this serious. She took a step closer. "Ren?"

Bianca

"Are you going to buy it or not?" Bianca asked a little impatiently. The orb didn't interest her much and she was getting bored of the shop anyway. It just wasn't her sort of thing. Sky looked rather fascinated though and nodded slowly.

"Ye-es, I think I will." She dug into her pocket for the money and gave it to the guy who handed her the orb. They both looked very happy with themselves at first and then the shop keeper less so. Bianca didn't care. She just wanted to go do something fun already. Sky looked hopefully down at the orb in her hand but it didn't seem to be doing anything.

"Ah well, maybe your friend will have more luck," the shop keeper said, sounding a little edgy. Bianca thought he might be regretting selling the orb just a little. She didn't believe it had powers though, that was stupid. Just another selling point for a greedy shop owner.

"Well, this was fun but we really should be going, right Sky?" Bianca put her arms around the other girl and steered her out of the shop and hurriedly up the street. She was so done looking at antiques.

"Do you suppose it's true? All that he said about great power?" Sky asked, still looking at the orb. She turned it over a few times and then held it out with a shrug. "Maybe you should try it."

"No need," Bianca said with a grin. "I already have enough power." She gave Sky a playful shove and then asked: "So, what do you want to do now?"

(Kitty, Sky is actually a Gemini and the orb is for Virgo, so it wouldn't glow for her. When you get a chance can you edit your post?)

Ren

Ren knew he couldn't lie to Cait. In fact, he could never lie to anyone. He was just that bad a liar. Even so, he didn't want Cait to get involved, he didn't want her to get hurt. But if he couldn't lie to her, then what was he going to tell her? Well, if he couldn't lie to her, then awll he could do is try to explain everything without actually telling her what was going on. An oximoron if he ever heard of, but it was all he could do.

He sighed, "Look Cait, I want to tell you what's going on, I really do, but I don't want you to get caught up in it. I wouldn't forgive myself if you were hurt."

"Why would I get hurt?" she asked. Her eyes started to widen as something clicked inside her head. "Ren, are you involved with some dangerous people? Did you join a gang!?"

"What? No, it's nothing like that! It's just..."

"It's just what?" Ren could see the worry in Cait's eyes, he had never seen her so distraught over anything before. Seeing her like this, he knew he had to tell her what was going on, and he was just about to when Takeo appeared at his door.

"Takeo? What are you doing here?" Ren asked. Taki was despirately trying to catch his breath. It looked like he had just run a marathon.

When he was able to speak, the first words out of his mouth were, "Where is it?"

Ayaka

At first Ayaka had thought Lena would lead the girl to Ren's apartment. She was shocked that Lena would simply give up and endanger Ren like that. But as she led their attacker down the street it became more and more aparant that she had something up her sleeve. It was when Ayaka noticed they were heading in the opposite direction from Ren's apartment that she was planning something, and her faith in Lena slowly came back. But what about Takeo? Was he okay?

"We're here," Lena said when they reached an empty parking lot.

The girl frowned at Lena and said, "Then what are you waiting for? Bring it to me." Ayaka caught a look of uncertainty in Lena's eyes. It seemed like she hadn't thought this far ahead. Unfortunately for them, the enemy noticed the look, too. Her frown hardened until her teeth were barring. "I should have known, you lied to me." She began to draw her sword.

"Wait!" Lena shouted. "If you kill us, you'll never be able to find the orb!"

"Who says I need you?" the girl asked. "I can always go after that brat I left behind." She pointed the tip of her sword at Lena's neck. "I gave you a chance to cooperate, and instead you just wasted my time. I no longer have any use for you."

"Lena, run!" Ayaka shouted. Jordan started to move in to help as well. In the back of her mind, though, they knew they were done for. They couldn't fight this person, and there was no way they would be able to run away from her. Was this the end?

Ayaka caught a sudden burst of light out from the corner of her eye. Before she could see what it was the light arched out toward the enemy. The long haired girl saw it as well and managed to jump out of the way an instant before she was hit. The light crackled with the sound of electricity as it ripped through the ground where she had once been standing, leaving nothing but a small charred crater.

"More interference?" the enemy asked to no one in particular.

Everyone looked in the direction the light had come from and saw a girl in a Tokiwadai school uniform standing at the parking lot entrance. She said, "I don't like it when I see people attacking others that can't protect themselves," and a spark of elecricity jumped off her forehead when she said it.

Lena's eyes widened when she realised who that girl was; Level 5 Mikoto Misaka, Academy City's very own Railgun.

(Cool. And sorry if it seems like I'm getting impatient. I just don't want us to fall into a routine of only posting once or twice every month. I want to be able to flex my creative muscles with you guys, but it's hard to get that chance when my turn only comes around every two or three weeks you know?

Just to help you understand what I mean, the last five posts of actual story involvement takes up almost a full month of time in real life. I know you guys have your own lives and everything, but I would be happy if you reserved just a little time every weekend to post something.)

Lena

I closed my eyes and waited for pain to come. To my surprise, none came. A bright light flashed before my eyes. Opening them, I recognized the bright light as lightening. A girl voice rang though the clearing, glancing toward the source of the voice. “Railgun.” I whispered under by breath.

The enemy growled as she glared down Railgun. All of the sudden the enemy turned her head to side and started off into the distance. She turned and glared at us all and then disappeared. I felt the relief flood out of me as soon as she disappeared.

I then walked over to Akaya and Jordan and asked if they were okay. I knew that they were, I just wanted to make sure that they were, just in case. As soon as I confirmed it I then to Railgun and bowed. “Thank you, I’m not sure what we would have done without you.” I stated. She smiled, then turned around a walked off. After she left the first thing in my mind was Taki. “Come on, lets go find Taki.” Without turning around, I took off in the direction of Ren’s house. Hoping that he was okay.

Takeo

"Where's what?" Ren asked, a confused expression on his face. Taki wondered if he was faking it. Where's what? What else would he be looking for, what else mattered? Did Ren want it for himself, was that it? Takeo shook his head, trying to clear all the thoughts from it, all the suspicions. He had to cool it. He knew he was being stupid but he just had to have that orb in his hand, then everything would be good again.

"The... orb," Taki gasped, fighting to get his breath back. "A woman, she's... she's coming for it." He stepped further into the room and the light fell on his ruined clothes and the bloody tracks along his skin. Cait let out a sharp gasp.

"You're hurt!" she exclaimed, staring in horror at alll the wounds. "Is he involved too? Ren, what is going on!"

"Give it to me," Takeo insisted.

"If someone's coming, we have to get out of here," Ren decided as he reached under his bed for the orb and tossed it over to Takeo. The other boy caught it and seemed to relax a little. He nodded his agreement.

"Yeah, we-" And then the door burst open. Taki lashed out, throwing enough force at the door to not only slam it shut but also shake it from its hinges. A girl's voice cried out in alarm from the other side.

"Wait, wait, it's us! Can... can we come in?" It was Lena. And Taki didn't know if he trusted her or not.

(Don't strain yourself, Audra. I hope your arm heals up soon.

Hey kitty, how can Ren pull the orb out of his pocket when it's supposed to be under his bed? :D )

Ren went to open the door when Takeo grabbed his arm. "Wait! What if it's the enemy?"

Ren frowned at him. "Has the orb really made you that paranoid, Takeo? If it was the enemy they would just break down the door. Besides, that's Lena's voice." He jerked his arm out of Taki's grasp and opened the door. He didn't even have time to tell him that the enemy was probably using Lena and the others to get in.

Lena, Ayaka, and Jordan all piled in the moment the door was open. Taki braced himself for the girl with the sword to come in after them, but to his surprise there was no one else. He went out into the hallway to double-check. Still, no one. Didn't Lena say she was going to lead that girl to the orb?

"Ren, are you okay?" Ayaka asked.

Lena chimed in, "Did anyone show up looking for the orb?"

Ren shook his head. "No, nobody showed up except Takeo."

Lena turned to face Takeo. She frowned the moment she spotted the orb in his hand. "Why did you come back here for the orb, Takeo!? What if someone started following you after that girl took us away?"

Taki was suddenly angry. "What right do you have to yell at me? You were going to lead her here anyway!"

"That was a lie so I could buy us some time! I had no intention of bringing her here!" She suddenly swiped the orb from Taki's grasp. "You're getting way to obsessed with this thing, it's starting to cloud your judgement!"

"Give it back! The orb is mine, I found it!" Takeo yelled.

The argument kept escalating until Takeo and Lena were both practically screaming at each other. The others tried to talk them down, but neither of them were listening. As for Cait however, she had no idea what all of this was about. She became so frustrated that she suddenly screamed in her native tongue, "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?"

Lena

We had made to Ren’s in record time. I opened the door, only to have it slammed back on me. “Wait, wait, it's us! Can... can we come in?” I said through the door. I heard footsteps nearing the door, when Taki suddenly said that “Wait, what if it is the enemy?” I sighed to myself and thought about the last time that Taki had saw us. Before I any time to say anything else, the door opened. I felt my body pitch forward, but I managed to catch myself.

I turned around to look at Taki there he was with the orb. I could not contain myself as I yelled at him. I swear that he was so obsessed with this orb thing that he could not even think right, and to think that I was worried about him. Right as we were about to continue, another scream chimed in. Turning swiftly, I stared at Cait. The only thought that ran though my mind was “What, did she just say?”. I felt a sudden yawn make it way from my mouth. Right after that, Ren suggested that we all sit down and talk. Everyone seemed to agree because we all started walking over to the living room to find a seat. “So,” Ren said, “Who wants to start?”
