DUNCAN

I fell straight to the ground, luckily some spongy moss softened my landing. I had just barely stood up and gathered the contents of my pack when I heard a scream. Without even thinking I took off through the trees in the direction the scream came from. I came to a small clearing and saw to people, was he on top of her? "What's going on here!?" I demanded.

GEMMA

Somehow I ended up on the ground, with Ryder on top of me? For some odd reason I found myself laughing, that got him started too. It felt good, laughing like I was, I really hadn't been this happy since I was brought to this island. Did Ryder have anything to do with how I was feeling? Our moment was interrupted by a sound in the bushes, our laughter stopped and our heads snapped up abrubtly just in time to see a man's figure step out of the trees. "What's going on here?!" he demanded. Ryder and I both jumped up, realizing how we looked. All I could do was stare at the ground and fidget.

"Gemma?" at the sound of my name I looked up and caught the eye of my brother. Duncan was on the island! Duncan was here in front of me.

"Duncan!" I exclaimed, flying into his arms. I wrapped his up in a huge hug, "I missed you." I whispered. I turned around to face Ryder, "Ryder, this is Duncan." I knew from the look on his face what he was thinking, "My brother," I quickly added.

His facial expression relaxed, "Nice to meet you." he said extending his hand. My brother shook it hesitantly. "Gemma, we should take him back to camp, we can finish the coop later."

"Okay." I smiled, leading Duncan in the direction of camp. As the tents came into view I slowed my pace and fell into stride with Ryder. I grabbed his hand and gave it a quick squeeze, shooting him a smile before catching up up with Duncan. I wanted to be the one to introduce my family to my family.

Isha said I could join, so here's my profile.

Name: Maiara Ashton.

Age: 17.

Gender: Female.

Appearance/Picture: Maiara is tall-ish, around 5'5, with dark red-brown hair and light blue eyes.
Spoiler
Image

Skills: Basic survival skills, basic camping skills, basic defense skills.

Weaknesses: Dark, confined spaces. If she were to be locked in, say, a cupboard of some kind, she would panic. Badly. Deep water-she is intensely freaked by it. Occasionally lacks self-control.

Likes: Running, the forest, the stars, the moon, nighttime, daytime, being the center of attention and freedom.

Dislikes: Death, blood, destruction, dark & confined spaces, war, fighting, being/feeling trapped, being replaced, feeling rejected or ignored and cold weather.

Personality: Kind, caring, loving, distant, determined, and fiery, Maiara has a fiery temper but is friendly and kind--unless she's angry (which is when her family/friends are being harmed). Although her temper has a shot fuse, she doesn't lose it often and prefers peace to violence. She doesn't like to fight. She often seems timid and shy, though she's semi-confident once you get to know her.

History: Not much is known about Maiara. She came from a bad background and is very shy around guys. She used to live with her Aunt until the Supervisors came and took her away. She's now on the island, new and confused.

Other: Has some nasty scars across her lower back and can't remember how she got them.

Up for love: Yes.

Sorry this is so short (and probably pretty bad). I've got horrible writer's block for Hunted right now :(

RYDER

I grinned, following Gemma and her brother back to camp. I ran my thumb across the tips of my fingers, the ones Gemma had just squeezed moments ago. She looked excited about her brother, though I was sort of embaressed about what had happened earlier. Okay, so I was extremely embaressed about it. Especially now that her brother might not have a very good image of me... None of this could wipe the grin from my face.

I sighed and sprinted to catch up to Gemma and Duncan. "Does this mean I get out of proving myself?" I asked, half-hoping she'd say no. One part of me wanted to get out of building the coup, and the other wanted to do something slightly impressive. Just because...

Damon

Not much to expect from Sam other than drama and pain. I needed something for the headache Mark had caused, and I doubted I would get that from her. I sighed, sitting up strait and looking over at her. She was reading up on things, files. I watched her for a moment then glanced at the screen, my mind wandering. I wondered if our lives would ever go back to the way they were before we started all of this.

Of course, my life had been shit without Samantha. Before I started working for her I was nothing, had nothing. We both new I could just change my mind any minute and decide to go back to that nothing. Though, both of us knew that I wouldn't live to get off of this island. Sam would have me killed in a heartbeat if I ever did try. If I ever did. Why would I want to? Everything I needed was right here, everything I wanted was here.

I leaned forward in the chair, glaring at the monitor. Nothing new in the pat few minutes, other than the new kids buzzing around the camp, scared and jumpy, getting freaked out because they would suddenly hear the beast growl. None of them had attacked lately, so it was bound to happen soon. The one girl Annie knew how to kill the other ones, she wouldn't e so skilled if one of these new ones attacked, though I was sure she could learn soon enough. She was good, I had to give her that, talented, and a little cute. But none of that mattered, she would soon be dead, just like the rest of them.

The more I pictured her face in my mind, the more I thought about it, and the more I started remembering way back before this was my job. I had worked with a man who had these two little girls, adorable as hell, never said much, but they loved to watch the sun rise and set, and they would do that every day. I remembered their faces, I remembered the way they looked at me, as though I was their big brother. I loved that. It made me feel good inside.

Key word loved, past tense. I didn't love anything now, I couldn't love anything, I was heartless, cold. Sam had made me this way, yet I found myself so enveloped in my own memories, I was smiling. Smiling and staring, and I could only imagine what I looked like to Samantha. But it wasn't long before I found myself getting the much needed sleep. I hadn't slept in days, I was running off of coffee each day, and it was no surprise that I would end up passing out where I was.

Domi

I could hear talking, coming from outside... I fluttered my eyelids, waking up. Wait, I had fallen asleep? I looked up at Tarrion.
"Good morning sleepy head." He chuckled, kissing my forehead. I furrowed my brow.
"How long have I been asleep?" He shrugged.
"Not long really." he sighed, "You should sleep more." I poked his nose.
"You, were supposed to sleep if I did. Besides I hear someone outside." I started "And he doesn't sound familiar." With a little bit more emphasis on the 'he'. I was still terrified of guys. Not Tarr, or Ryder, they were practically my family now. Matt and Logan still scared me, and that other guy... paranoid guy. He shot a flipping chicken!
"You want me to go see domi?" Tarrion asked, tightening his grip a bit.
"I want to come. Just, stay close."

TARRION

I helped Domi to her feet and kissed her cheek. "Alright, let's go then," I whispered, wrapping a protective arm around her waist. I ducked out of tent and arched my eyebrows, pulling Domi closer. "Who's this?" I asked, nodding at what other than another new man.

Gemma beamed. "Tarrion, Domi, this is my brother Duncan. Duncan, this is Tarrion and Dominique," she announced.

I eyed Ryder, who was looking rather smug. "Another brother on the island huh?" I stuck out my hand and Duncan shook it slowly.

RYDER

I chuckled. "S'pose so. Umm... Tarr?"

He looked up at me. "What?"

"Didn't you want to talk to me earlier? About going trigger happy on Kyle?" My smile faded and I arched an eyebrow. Duncan cleared his throat, which went ignored by us.

Tarrion sighed. "Yeah. Umm... Gemma, Nas, Saph and Wren are all in the tent still, just so you know." He looked around camp at the others, his gaze resting on Kyle and Annie. I saw his free hand ball into a fist. "Domi, do you wanna come or stay?" he asked quietly.

GEMMA

"So does this mean I get out of proving myself?" asked Ryder.

I conteplated, "Meh, for now."

Tar and Domi emerged from the tent and walked in our direction.

"Who's this?" said Tarrion, juting his thumb in the direction of Duncan.

My smile spread, "Tarrion, Domi, this is my brother Duncan. Duncan, this is Tarrion and Dominique." Nothing could spoil this mood.

"Another brother on the island huh?" said Tarrion, shaking Duncan's hand.

Ryder smirked, "S'pose so. Um... Tar? Didn't you want to talk to me earlier? About going trigger happy on Kyle?"

Duncan cleared his throat, looking at me. Wonderful timing to let that slip.

"Yeah." he sighed, smile dropping right off his face, "Um... Gemma. Nas, Saph and Wren are all in the tent still, just so you know."

"Okay" I beamed.

DUNCAN

"Okay." she grinned, grabbing my hand and leading me towards the tent. I was glad to see that she was happy I was here but I still wasn't sure how I felt about tis place. I mean really, "Trigger happy"? What sort of things went on on this island? She read my face, she has always been good at that. "Duncan, what's wrong? Your not being yourself."

"What's wrong Gemma? What's wrong? You seriously didn't just ask me that. Four months ago my little sister was ripped away from us. It devastated dad, Stephen was so out of Sara broke it off, I spent months worrying and researching the goons who took her only to be taken here myself. I just barely get onto the island and find my sister on the ground, beneath a guy she probably barely knows. She decides to take me back to her camp where they sleep in tents all together and guys go "trigger happy" on people and shrug it off like nothing. I think you can figure out what's wrong from there." I looked down at the pack still in my hands, "Oh by the way, all those months I spent worrying my head off I prepared this." I tossed it at her. "Apparently you are doing just fine with out it so give it that might actually use it, like the injured girl."

"Duncan," she whimpered, "I can't believe you."

I'm no face reader but I tell when what I've said has struck a cord. She was about to cry, I knew it, I could see it in her eyes. My guilt hit me so hard it almost knocked the wind out of me. In a second a was at her side wrapping my arms around her in a big brotherly hug. "I am so sorry, Gemma, I didn't mean any of it. Yes, back home we took it hard but all the rest i didn't mean. I swear."

Gemma shook her head and wrenched her shoulders out of my arm, "No Duncan, the thing is you did." she said, wiping the on tear that had fallen. "Come on," she said motioning for the tent, "You need to meet everyone else."

GEMMA

I can't believe I cried, I hate crying. Duncan just knew how to get to me, he always has. "Come on," I said motioning for the tent, "You need to meet everyone else."

He followed me into the tent where Wren, Nasira, and Saphire we all sitting and chatting. I gave a weak smile, "Hey girls, uh, I'd like you to meet my brother, Duncan."

Dominique

I looked up at Tarrion, and swallowed the lump in my throat. Then, I looked back at the tent. Where the new guy, Duncan, was. Brother of someone or not, he sill scared me. Then, I gazed over at Kyle, and shuddered. I wrapped an arm around Tarrion's arm, and looked up to him.
"I'm staying with you." I whispered. Tarrion tuned and wrapped his arms around me, Ryder looked at us funny, I couldn't see Tarrions face, but I was quite content with burying my face in his chest. So that's what I did.
"It's OK Domi." Tarrion muttered into my hair, then kissing the top of my head. It was not OK. If Kyle hurt Annie... I didn't even want to think about that...

RYDER

I stared at Tarr and Domi for a moment, completely clueless as to what had caused the sudden shift in moods. I didn't want to gawk at them or anything, but I couldn't help it. There was just something strange about them. I shifted uneasily on my feet, unsure of what to do.

Tarr looked up at me, expression completely unreadable. "Alright, let's go." He kissed Domi on the forehead and took her hand, nodding at me.

I cleared my throat and waiting for Tarr to lead the way. There was a story here, one that I almost felt unentiltled to, but I was curious all the same.

TARRION

We walked just far enough so that we wouldn't be heard. I sat down, pulling Domi onto my lap. Ryder sat down across from us, and I couldn't help but notice how fidgety he was. He was feeling awkward, which I suppose I couldn't blame him for.

"So..." he muttered, sighing.

"Like I said earlier, he completely deserved me going trigger-happy on him," I grumbled, wrapping my arms around Domi's waist.

"How could anybody deserve it?" Ryder asked, tone even. He was good at hiding his anger...

I sighed loudly. "Kyle used to...know Domi. Before the islands..." I trailed off. I didn't know what to say. I didn't know the full story, I just knew enough to make me hate Kyle for life. If he dared do any of what he did to Domi to Annie, he would have much more than four bullets in his system. Try many, many burns, lost limbs and eventually decapitation.

Walking around was the only thing I could figure to do. Well, you couldn't call it walking, I was more limping, trying to pace, but it wasn't really working.I sighed, leaning against a tree. I wanted to be alone, but at the same time, I wanted to be in Kyle's arms. I leaned my head back, eyes closed, and laughed.

It was two or three days ago that I was wanting to kill him with my own hands, the ones that couldn't hurt a soul. I wanted to hear him scream, to see him in pain. The thought made me shudder, and my smile faded. Now, I didn't want anything to hurt him, I'd hurt anyone who hurt him--or so I wanted to believe. I wouldn't be able to hurt anyone, and everyone who even looked at me knew that. I was pathetic and useless. Simply useless.

I turned and walked away, strait into the forest, hoping no one would notice me, yet wanting someone to see me. I was confusing myself, but what could I do about that? Nothing, and that was the problem. When I got emotional, I got sick. And I had a headache and stomach ache. This was not fun. I didn't need to think about anything, I just needed to forget it all. Yea, I could do that.

It's your fault, a voice in the back of my mind said. I collapsed where I was, tears coming fast. What was my fault? I was being stupid, I knew that. But maybe I wasn't. I wondered what would have happened the first day I met them if I wouldn't have saved them, what if I just let them get killed? I cried harder at the thought of my family gone. But maybe I wouldn't be so hurt.

"Like that would solve anything," I said to myself, voice breaking. I heard a stick break behind me.

"Like what would solve what?" Someone asked. My head turned to see who it was. I wanted to be alone yet I didn't. What a way to solve my issue.

Kyle

Annie walked off. So after she was out of view, I pulled myself to my feet and followed after her. My legs ached, and were almost ready to give out under the strain. I needed to make sure Annie didn't get hurt. She was kneeling on the ground looking like she was ready to cry. I was about to ask her what was wrong when she muttered,
"Like that would solve anything." Her voice breaking.
"Like what would solve what?" I asked, approaching her and kneeling beside her, wincing in pain, then falling forward. "Ow." I mumbled. She looked up to me.
"Oh, it's just you." I smirked, letting my head fall back on the ground.
"What, not happy to see me?" Then something moved in the bushes behind us.

I looked back, to see one of the beasts emerge from the bushes, they weren't any prettier upside down....
"Oh shit." I said, rolling over. It snarled at us. This wasn't good, we were both unarmed. It stalked around us, surverying us. It's prey. Two lives were hanging in the balance, one a little more precious then the other. Her's was more precious. They were her family, I was the disgusting creep.
"Annie, when I distract it. Run." She looked up to me shocked.
"W-w-what? I can't just leave you here!" She whispered.
"Yes, you can." I started. "I want you to. Annie, I should be dead by now. I left my group to die. I need to join them." Cheesy, but it may do the trick. I didn't wait for her to respond, I just flung myself at the beast.
"Annie, go!" I yelled, the beast trying to shake me off. I felt something hit my chest. Then nothing.

*We've decided to kill Kyle, may he rest in pieces : P*

No. No! NO! I was frozen fr a moment, staring at Kyle's unmoving body. My mouth hung open, my mind refused to comprehend any of this. I should have ran, I shouldn't have just stood there. Rage filled me, and I looked around for something, anything, to kill the beast. I settled for a huge stick, though I doubted it would do anything. I charged at it the best way I could, my leg numb for once. Swinging to sick down, I hit the beast, making him growl and push me back. I fell to the ground and the beast moved to stand over me. I knew I should have ran, but I didn't. Hate got me nowhere around here, did it? The beast gave off a loud growl, then howled. I cringed down into the ground, hoping I would be invisible.

A loud whistle sounded, and the beast retreated back into the forest. I looked up, surprised that it had actually gone away. I caught a glimpse of the man from before. I couldn't remember his name, but that was the least of my worries. Why was he here? Why had he called off the beast? I stumbled to my feet, and hurried away before he had time to call the bast back.

Damon

I watched as he ran away, hoping she got back to he camp before another beast decided to come. Why had I just given up my job and no doubt my life to save a girl from my past? Because of a promise I had made to her father before he died. I'd promised to keep both of his girls safe, and here wasn't really the best place for keeping them safe.

I walked back to the secret door, sighing before deciding to go in. I knew Sam would be mad, but I was a man of my word and if I made a promise, I'd keep it. I walked into the surveillance room, ignoring the look Samantha gave me. I had already done something for her to hate me, and this would get me death in her book for sure. I crossed my arms, then turned to face her. Her eyes were cold and they bored into mine.

"What the hell Damon?" she said, voice sharp. I shrugged looking at the ceiling. Yea, I was a dead man.

Ryder eyed me suspiciously. I tensed up, begging that Tarrion would just say it, so I wouldn't have to.
"What do you mean, 'knew her'?" He asked, still eyeing me suspiciously. I swallowed hard.
"Um, ya...." Tarrion started. Not able to get it out. My eyes began to water. Please Tarrion, just say it. I begged inwardly. He stuttered a little more. Then I just blurted it out.
"Kyle was my boyfriend and he beat me everyday, then...then..." I turned and sobbed into Tarrions shoulder. "He raped me!" Tarrion wrapped his arms around me. I was ashamed, and I felt dirty. There was no way Ryder could accept me now.

TARRION

My stomach twisted uneasily, and I brought Domi closer. For some reason, as soon as she had said it, I felt like something was going to fall from the sky and devour her. I was going majorly overprotective, and there wasn't anything to keep her safe from. Not now at least. But the feeling was still there, and it wouldn't go away. Not that I wanted it to go away...

Kyle, a man I wouldn't ever forgive. I didn't care if he became a saint, never, ever would I forgive him.

I could feel tears coming. Tears of all things... Why was I crying? I let them come though, silently and refused to look up at Ry.

RYDER

Well that was a bit of a newsflash for me... I could understand why Tarr hated Kyle now, but even now, going trigger-happy on him seemed a bit harsh. "I...uh..." Okay, so I had no idea what to say. What did a guy say when he found out something like this?

"He took her to the other side of the island..." Tarr whispered. I hardly even heard him. Was he crying? Oh good Lord, he was.

My eyes widened. "Did he...?"

Tarr shook his head. "That's sorta when I went all...trigger happy on him. He didn't get the chance."

I didn't say anything else. Just watched awkwardly. Tarrion was obviously meant for Domi, perfect for her even, though I suppose going that far would be a little bit of overkill. Nobody was absolutely PERFECT for anybody... but these two, they were close.

SAMANTHA

I was mad. Engraged, infuriated. Unless engraged is a higher level of anger than infuriated... I wasn't quite so sure. Well, whatever, I was absolutely royally pissed. I was glaring at him, and I could practically feel the fire in my breath. How could he? Had we not been over how important it was that we didn't assosiate with the teens at all?

"You are sooo lucky I like you, Damon. Because if. I. Did. Not. You. Would. Be. So. Beyond. Dead. Right. Now," I hissed, biting off every word. Heck, if it had been anybody but Damon, they would have gotten a multitude of bullets packed into their skulls and chests upon entering.

I couldn't believe it... just could not believe it. Damon of all people... Wow did he like to screw up lately.

Maiara:

Running through a forest would be pleasant...if something wasn't chasing me! I yelped and sped up, panicking. This was not my best day... I didn't want to die either! I glanced back but didn't see anything. Just trees... Trees rushing past and dim sunlight slanting through the trees.

Growling came from my left so I swerved right and ran faster. The growling was replaced by silence. And silence was far worse.... And then I suddenly heard voices and turned towards them.

I left the trees behind and entered a clearing, bumping into a few people and knocking them over. I was about to get up and run off again when I realised; People! Actual people! Not freaky growling beasts. I stopped and leaned over, panting. Why had I been running again? Oh right, scary beasties.

And then; "Who are you? What're you doing here?"

I looked up, startled and then realised that they were talking to me. "I...I'm not really sure," I said between breaths. "I'm Maiara and I don't really know where I am."
