Dominique

I looked up at Tarrion, then at the new girl.
"I-I'm Dominique." I sniffled whiping my eyes, she looked scared. "None of us know why we are here, or where here is." I heard a snarl.
"Maybe we should go back to camp." I said, looking up to Tarrion. I couldn't bring myself to look at Ryder. He probably thought I was disgusting and didn't deserve his brother. I knew we belonged together, but he was the better half. I was the clingy over-emotional, USED half. Tarrion nodded.
"Ya, that sounds like a good idea." He smiled down at me as we began to walk. I stared blankly at the ground.

Stumbling through the forest, I entered the camp. Tar, Domi, Ryder and a new girl walked into the clearing as I fell down, sobbing. There were people around me in that moment, asking me what was wrong. I wanted to speak, I wanted to tell them he was dead, but I couldn't bring myself to say the words. I couldn't even put it together yet. I didn't want to believe it. I couldn't believe it. It was like I knew it happened but my mind hadn't put it together yet.

"What happened?" I heard someone ask me, louder than the others. "Did Kyle hurt you?" I recognized it as Tar. I looked in his direction, not really seeing him. I was shocked. Shocked he had actually asked me that. I felt the hands on my back.

"No!" I wailed, sobbing more. "He's...he's...he's..." I couldn't say it. I couldn't say the word that would trigger the pain, the realization.

"He's what?" Tar was calm, calmer than I felt. I was sobbing, and shaking. I looked away from him. I forced the word to come to my mouth and once I did, I spit it out like it was bile.

"Dead." I said it flatly, softly, surprised that I was suddenly calm. I felt my face go white as it sunk in. Dead. Kyle was dead. He was dead, gone. Not coming back. I felt my head spinning, and the ground was coming at me. My yes were shut in that moment, and I found I couldn't open them. I didn't want to. I wanted to die. I had nothing anymore. I could hear them talking, just like when I was out from my blood loss with my side. I could hear them talking, but I couldn't see them, or feel anything. I was numb. All except an ache in my heart, and the ache didn't go away.

Dead? Kyle was....dead? I didn't know whether this was a good thing or a bad thing to be honest. But Annie...she seemed so heartbroken, which made me upset. Mourning for the loss that was Kyle--umm, yeah right. "Annie?" I whispered, voice strained.

No answer. She was out cold.

I turned to Ryder, Domi and Maiara. Maiara was staring blankly, Domi's hand was over her mouth, and Ryder...well his face was as blank as Maiara's. I didn't blame them, the girl was probably dead confused and Ryder didn't know anybody here that well.

"Go back to the tent," I whispered quietly, scooping up Annie. I stumbled to my feet with a little help from Ryder, who apparently hadn't gone back to the tent. Now that I looked around, none of them had.

RYDER

I stepped back from Tarrion, unsure of how to feel. From what I had heard about Kyle, he was a pretty hell-bound guy, which for some reason only made me feel sorry for him. And I wasn't even religious...

I scanned the faces for Gemma. Everybody had rushed outside by now, and they were all looking a little... unsure? Gemma was there, next to her brother. (Who might I add, scared me slightly.)

I walked over to her slowly, face grimm.

He was dead. My entire life I just wanted him to disappear, but I never intended it to be this way! I felt atear escape. I didn't want to cry, but I was. I followed Tarrion into the tent with Annie. She was right out. Tarrion set her down, and I knelt beside her, placing my hand on her forhead, then wiping away the remaining tears on her face.
"What do you think happened?" I asked turning to Tarr. He shook his head and looked over to me.
"I don't know. Maybe A beast got him." I leaned against Tarrions shoulder, brushing Annie's hair out of her face. I don't know how, but she had managed to fall for... Kyle. I wondered how she was feeling. Poor girl.

I wrapped an arm around Domi's shoulder, biting my lip. The realization that it could have been Domi out there was making me want to puke. Any of us could end up dead, and I was just coming to that reality. Sure, I had known it before, but I had been in denial, and hearing that Kyle was dead was bringing it to the light.

I cringed, pulling Domi in front of me and wrapping my arms around her waist, lips on the back of her head. At least this way, if I shed a few tears, she wouldn't be able to tell.

Tears for Kyle? Heck no. Tears for the fact that it could have been Dominique, certainly. Tears for what was going to happen to Annie, absolutely. That's what hurting the woman I loved got you, hated for life and apparently beyond. Like I said, I would never, ever forgive him for what he did.

And as afraid as I was to be, I was actually almost happy Kyle was gone. I would pretend to be sad, just for Annie, but I couldn't help feel that we were all a little safer now.

I felt like a creep.

DUNCAN

I followed Gemma into one of the tents, inside were three girls. She introduced them as Nasira, Saphire, and Wren. All three gave a slight wave and uneasy hellos, what was it with the girls on this island?

"So... what you in for?" I asked jokingly, attempting at lightening up the mood.

Wren I think was about to say something when a loud commotion started outside. Gemma grabbed my hand and tugged me outside, the girls following. Annie was sitting on the ground, her knees pulled up to her chest. "He's, he's, he's....dead." she mumbled. What? Who? When? Was that going to be all of our fates? I slowed my thoughts and picked up on few peoples hushed tones, Kyle. Kyle the creep, Kyle the victim of gun escapades. Kyle the guy who was with Annie when I came. Poor guy.

GEMMA

Kyle was dead? It all seemed to unreal to take in. He couldn't be, Kyle couldn't be dead. He was the moster that was supposed to be terrorizing our village. Sure we were supposed to chase to a cliff, torches and pitchforks in hand, but he wasn't supposed to go over. He wasn't supposed to die.

My eyes scanned over the grim faces and caught sight of Ryder coming this way. I felt Duncan tense up beside me and I knew he saw him too. "Be nice." I whispered poking his arm.

Poor Annie, she finds the guy she's happy with, and he gets killed. I put my hands on Tarrion's, calming me down a little. I had Tarrion, and no one could take that from me. If they tried... who was I kidding, I couldn't do anything to stop them. I sighed and turned my head to look at Tarrion. Was he, crying? So, he felt bad about what happened to Kyle to? I kissed his cheek gentilly.
"I love you." I whispered. It made me feel good, just saying it to him. He had no clue how much I really loved him. He kissed my lips and smiled.

I felt horrible, and I didn't want to wake up, not after all I had was gone. Of course I had my family, but they all had someone to love, to really love. Not just brotherly/sisterly love, but love. Real human attraction. I felt the tears come back as realized I had more to live for. I sill had my family, and they would be what I was working for, nothing more. I'd keep myself alive for them. If it was up to me, I'd feed myself to the beasts.

I opened my eyes slowly, looking around. Sitting up, I wondered why my side wasn't hurting, and why it was completely numb. The only pain was the aching in my heart, but that wouldn't go away. Someone touched my shoulder, and I shied way from them, not caring who it was. I stood up, looking around t all of them. They looked worried, but I knew they didn't care that Kyle was...That worry was for me. Well I didn't want it, I wanted Kyle. I felt the tears coming again, and I sat down before I had time to fall. Once down, I pulled my legs to my chest and buried my face on my knees, sobbing.

I watched Annie cry for a moment, not quite sure how to feel...let alone act. I still hadn't figured out how she had managed to fall for Kyle of all people, but the pain of losing him was something I could only imagine. I was praying that I never would have to live it.

I pulled Domi closer, trying to shut out the thoughts. Any one of us could be next, we had no control over what happened out there. None. A beast could come tear down the tent walls and pick all of us off, or a group of beasts. Or those massive wolves. Or the freaks in white could fly by in their helicopters and shoot us all in our sleep.

Shutting out the thoughts...unsuccesful.

Most of us were in the tent, talking in hushed tones. Some were informing the newer people about the past that I would really rather forget.

Gosh, we needed to get more organized. We should start sending out search parties every other night, armed ones at that, to search for any other teens that might be lurking about. We needed somewhere bigger to live. Somewhere closer to the stream maybe. Heck, I'd settle for a house in the trees at this point.

RYDER

I avoided eye-contact with Duncan at all costs and looked to Gemma. She was much less intimidating to me at this point. Her brother scared the fudge out of me for some reason.

I scratched the back of my neck nervously, unsure of what I should be feeling now. Kyle was dead. Kyle was... evil in his own special sort of a way. Gosh, I was confused.

"So, what was the deal with Kyle exactly? I mean...how bad was he?" I asked quietly. It's not really what I wanted to talk about, but heck, I wasn't going to get into any deep, incredible conversation with Gemma with her brother looming over us like that. No way no how.

I watched the screen while Samantha droned on about me going against orders or something. My eyes were glued to the monitors a watched Annie have an emotional breakdown. Why did this bother me? It wasn't my job to take care of them, it was my job to keep them safe. Samantha sat on the desk behind me, still babbling on about...whatever it was she was talking about. Then a idea struck me.

"Sam," I said, standing up and turning around, looking her dead in the eye. I grabbed her shoulders, and she gave me a look that said "Let me go or die". That was the first time I'd ever called her Sam to her face. I doubted she'd let me do this without killing me afterwards.

"What?" Samantha asked flatly. Her eyes were cold as usual, and it made me feel like...me. Not the caring, kind me, but the cold, uncaring, murderous me.

"Samantha, stop," I said, voice flat like hers. "Just stop. Babbling like that ruins the moment." She looked at me like I was crazy, though I was any more way than one. "I've pushed my luck a lot lately, and I'm going to push it some more."

"What?!" she asked, confusion on her face. I felt what little of a heart I did have flutter and drop into my stomach. I didn't think, I just acted, leaning down and touching my lips to hers then pulling back. For a split second, I didn't want to pull away. I looked her in the face, waiting for her reaction.

I blinked, trying to keep my mouth from dropping open. "What the hell was that Damon?" I demanded, trying to maintain a normal pulse.

He grinned. "A kiss."

"Do. Not. Do. It. Again," I hissed, teeth gritted, eyes narrowed. I pushed his hands off my shoulders, trying to maintain my you are so beyond dead it's not even funny-sleep with one eye open composure.

"You can't say you didn't like it," he insisted, grin broadening.

I rolled my eyes, irritated beyond belief. My hand met his face--hard--with a loud smack, and I turned on my heel, letting myself blush, smile a little even. So I admit it, I had actually liked it. If we're going to be completely honest here, my lips were still tingling and my heart was going absolutely nuts, despite my earlier attempts of regulating it. Stupid Damon.

I could hear him laughing behind me, mutter a, "I know she wants me," under his breath.

I pulled my gun from my belt and pointed it behind me. Of course, I wouldn't shoot him... but just for good measure. He managed to stifle his laughter when he heard the click. I didn't turn, or he would see me all red-cheeked and start laughing. Again.

I walked into the hall and slammed the door shut behind me, replacing the gun. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, wonderful Damon.

Poor girl...she really loved Kyle, from what I can tell. I walk over and sit down beside her, putting an arm around her. "You going to be okay?" I ask softly. She lifts her head from her knees, tears streaming down her face.

"Please leave me alone," she mutters. Then I remember how I feel about sympathy.

"I can take a hint," I say, standing up. "If you need to talk to anyone, I'm not going anywhere. You will want to talk eventually. It's worse if you keep it bottled up." I walk away and sit by a tree.

As soon as she was gone, I started laughing again. Yea, I don't think she realized her blush didn't stop at her collar bone. That low back dress she was wearing proved that. I shook my head, sitting on the top of the desk, looking at the monitors. Annie seemed to be doing a little better. I had another idea, and this one didn't involve touching Sam unless it was to hug her if she let me do it. Or maybe another kiss?

Smiling, I stood and went to find her. When I did, she was in the break room, sipping coffee and smiling.

"Oh, Samantha!" I called, smiling at her. She turned around suddenly, her smile fading.

"I hate you," she said flatly. I put up my hands to declare peace. She narrowed her eyes to glare at me. "What are you planning this time?"

"I have a plan, and I'll promise not to kiss you without your permission if you let me do it," I said quickly. "I want you to let me sneak in their camp, act like one of them maybe. I'll get them all turned against each other and make sure they don't fall in love any farther." She was completely emotionless now as I waited for her reaction, yet again.

I took another sip of my coffee, letting my distrust build. Distrust was a good thing in my position, getting to trust somebody too much might land you in a bad spot. Say...them trying to gun your down in your sleep. I shook out the thought quickly, before it had time to turn itself around. Into a memorie.

I set the cup down on the table behind me and crossed my arms across my chest. "Alright, so let me get this straight," I started, tone unamused, "First, you run off and take video footage of the teens behind my back. Then you saved Annie from being ripped to shreds. And then you come back here, and right in the middle of me lecturing you," I lowered my voice, "you kissed me. And you're asking permission now?"

"That about sums it up," he muttered, shrugging.

"Alright. Walk with me, Damon." I grabbed my coffee cup from the counter and headed for the door, Damon at my heels. Talking about things like this in an area with a bunch of other supervisors never ended well. They got pesky, nosey, asked questions that I didn't necessarly feel like answering for them.

I took a detour down a hall on the left, stopping in front of a door that I had kept locked since Operation Hunted first started. It wasn't anything special, just a room with a couple of couches, a coffee table. The only thing that made this room any different was that it was the only room with a television.

I grabbed my key-ring from my pocket and selected the key that I knew would fit. I knew it was the right own because it was red with pink hearts on it, a key that had also fit into my abnormally large diary that I kept as a twelve year old.

"Hearts?" Damon asked, obviously amused.

"Shut up Damon," I growled, twisting the knob and throwing the door open. "Enter."

He arched an eyebrow and stepped into the room, already feeling along the wall for a lightswitch. I stepped in behind him, shoving him out of the way and closing the door. "Wrong wall genius." I flipped the switch and the room lit up. I shoved a finger at one of the couches. "Sit."

He sat. I strode over and sat on the other end of the couch, putting my feet up on the coffee table. I was wearing heels? That's relevant. I thought sarcastically. "Alright Damon, you can go. I just need to know a few things first."

"Like...?"

"Just tell me what you plan on doing in excrutiating detail and what colour we're going to die your hair. Maybe we'll thrown in some contacts and plastic surgery." I smirked. "Nix the plastic surgery, I dont' feel like it."
