Kalayan

I could hear Eli's scream, and that's when I ran in earnest. My heart pounding, I sped towards the scene where the shouting was coming from, Lakisha and Eli's mixed.

I suddenly ran in and saw a ton of things at once. Blood, everywhere. Was the guard knocked out or just down for a moment?!

"Whats going on?!" I shouted.

LAKISHA

I forced my eyes open. Screaching filled my ears. That was such a horrible sound. There was crimson-red blood all over the floor. Was that mine?! My stomach lurched and I sat up. Eli and the guard were wrestling, his gun was laying on the floor just out of reach, an ammo packet opposite it.

I reached for it, trying to figure out how to load it, ignoring my pain for now. I could freak out about that in a second. Kalayn was suddenly at the guard's throat. I fumbled with the gun, searching for the loading place...thingy. I didn't know what it was called and I didn't care.

That must be it! I shoved some bullets inside, hoping I was right. I pushed myself over to the guard and pressed the gun to his head. He stopped struggling immediately. "Too bad you didn't kill me huh?" I hissed before pulling the trigger.

I nearly jumped for joy when it actually fired. Instead I grimaced. "Where did he shoot me?" I asked. I was slipping away again.

Kalayan

I came over to Lakisha. She didn't look so good.

"Where did he shoot me?" she asked, grimacing.

"Right in the arm," I said sympathetically. "Looks like a Hell of a shot."

She winced and blacked out again. I turned to Eli. "We need to patch up her arm," I said.

Eli -

Eli nodded and started to take off her top shirt, noticing Kalayan's blush. "Wh-what are you doing?" He asked, voice strained. Eli sighed, rolling her eyes and taking her shirt off completely, a white tank top underneath. "Oh, sorry." Eli just laughed softly and shook her head, taking out her pocket knife as well.

"I've got to get the bullet out first." Eli smiled softly, taking Lakisha's arm in her lap. She carefully made one incision, stretching horizontal across the bullet wound, and then a second, which was cut vertically. Cautiously, she poked the knife into the hole, wedging the bullet out slowly. Lakisha still didn't show any signs of waking up. When the bullet was close enough to see, Eli reached in, and pulled it out, tightly wrapping the white t-shirt around Lakisha's arm.

"I'll carry her," Kalayan offered, Eli nodding before carefully helping a barely consious Lakisha onto Kalayan's back.

Kalayan

"I'll carry her," I said. Lakisha was put onto my back and I had a sudden flashback.

I walked down the street, my breath fast. There she stood, being attacked by them. Shot. I ran towards her, my face. pale. "Annie!" I called out. But it was too late. She-

I winced, and quickly said, "Now what?"

Eli -

Eli tightened the shirt around Lakisha's arm, looking up at Kalayan, her eyes setting into a hard stare. Whatever he was thinking about, or looking back on, he needed to stop. It was painful to him, Eli could tell. "What now?" Eli turned around, back to the guard.

"Take her to your room. I'm going to clean this up. Take Crim with you." The bright red bird fluttered above Kalayan's head, leading the way through the dark corridors. When Kalayan disappeared, Eli nodded her head to Sabe, who licked his chops and moved on the dead guard, the sound of ripping and the chewing of flesh filling the air. Eli almost gagged, all blood draining from her cheeks.

After an hour or so, Sabe joined her at her side, belly bulging. When she turned around, all that was left of the mess was a large blood stain. She swallowed the lump in her throat, and started back towards Kalayan's room, softly knocking on the door.

Kalayan

Lakisha was on my bed in the most comfortable position I could put her in. Me? I was on the floor, thinking.

This had been too much of deja vu. I just hoped that Lakisha survived, unlike Annie. I just hoped it wouldn't be the same thing all over again.

Eli came in and sat beside me on the floor. "Is she ok?"

"I think she'll be alright," I said.

Eli

Eli sighed softly, looking around forlornly. Sabe leaned against her, which made her lean against Kalayan from Sabe's immense size. She scratched him between the ears, as if he hadn't just eaten a whole human being. Eli's stomach churned, and within seconds she was across the room, spilling out the contents of her stomach. Kalayan was behind her after a couple moments, pulling her hair back. She groaned and leaned back against him. She walked into the bathroom, grabbed a glass of water, and an apple from the fruit bowl in the bedroom, sitting back down and instantly downing the water.

"I'm sorry," she choked, looking up at him with tears in her eyes.

Kalayan

"I'm sorry," she choked, tears in her eyes. "I just..."

"It's ok," I said softly, stroking her hair. "It's alright. I understand."

She just nodded, seemingly unable to say anything. Poor Eli. Poor Lakisha. Poor all of us. This was all too much for us.

I was silent. What was there to say that would comfort her? I just stayed by her, stroking her hair.

Eli

Eli cleared her throat, and took a bite of the apple slowly, thoughtfully. She swallowed, relishing in the feel of Kalayan's fingers through her locks, and finally looked up at him. "Wh-what were you thinking?"

"What?" Kalayan looked at her, confused.

"When you lifted up Lakisha, you were thinking about something troubling... what was it?" She asked softly, taking another thoughtful bite of her apple.

Kalayan

"When you lifted up Lakisha, you were thinking about something troubling... what was it?" She asked softly.

"It's.... nothing," I said.

"You can trust me," she said softly.

"Well... I was just remembering when my sister died... seeing Lakisha getting shot just.... it reminded me."

"What happened?" she asked quietly.

"She... was attacked on the road. By some men from a foreign village. They shot her, they thought she was someone else. I never got to say goodbye," I added, trying not to cry but feeling a lump in my throat.

Eli~

Eli gaped at the hard fact of it all. With tears in her eyes, she hugged Kalayan tightly, his head resting in the crook of her neck. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked." She sniffed, feeling Kalayan's warm tears that he'd tried so hard to stop. "I'm so so sorry." She whispered.

"It's f-ine," his voice cracked, "It was a l-ong time ago." He sniffed, Eli hugging him tighter.

"It's not fine, it was stupid of me." She pulled away, looking him in the eyes, both of thier cheeks littered with wicked forbading tears. "I'm sorry." She sniffed, looking up at him.

Kalayan

"It's not fine, it was stupid of me. I'm sorry." She sniffed.

"No it- it's good to get it out," I said, although my voice said something else. "I- I needed to tell someone, eventually."

We sat there in silence. Both of us had tears dripping down our faces for different reasons. All we needed as a topper was something else to happen.

But I felt closer than ever to Eli.

And that meant more than she knew to me.

Ooooh! I haven't been on the computer in a few day, somehow I will write into this.
Sure chupatoasta, two powers would't be too bad, maybe keep them kind of associated though?
