Reading your post, Kitty, I noticed that you were able to write the dialogue of other characters. Is this acceptable? I've played one RPG before on a different forum, and you couldn't write another person's dialogue; however, you could use something their character said, as long as you bolded it and didn't change it in any way.

Hawk: RPG's vary a lot across sites. On YWS the rules are looser than most; you're allowed to write lines of dialogue for other characters as long as it keeps in mind the character's personality. You can make characters act as well, you can make them walk somewhere or pick something up or attack someone but you have to read their bio carefully and ask yourself if you think they'd do that. If you're ever unsure, some people like to pm the character's owner or meet up in chat with them to write posts together. That can lead to some really good plot lines sometimes because you're able to tell each other a little extra about your characters.
I don't expect people to write long posts in the beginning. Everyone will be cautious while they try to feel the other characters out but as the storybook progresses you should feel more confident with controlling other people's characters to some degree.
Also, if you feel someone made your character act wrongly, just let us know that it was out of character and it can either be changed or we'll know for future posts.
Aspen twiddled his fingers absently, making small explosions in the space between his fingers and thumb. He leaned against a rock, watching as the fiery air swirled in a tight ball.
After a moment, he sighed and closed his fist around the ball. The hot air exploded outward, and vanished. Aspn looked toward the small home at the edge of the lake. Ember was knocking impatiently at Malinda's door.
Aspen ran a hand through his wet hair uneasily. He shook the water droplets off of his hand as quickly as he could. Out of all the entrances to Aerolite, Aspen hated this one the most. It was going to take ages for him to dry, and then they would have to go straight back into the lake.
Apsen yawned, and streched out on the ground. He looked up at the sky, and put his hands behind his head lazily.
**Bit of a nonsense post, I know, but it will bring the Rebels in...

Thanks for the explanation, Kitty! All right, I'm picking up from where Phantom introduces the Rebels.
Sylph
Sylph craned her neck, peering down from the tree she was perched in. She liked being as high up as she could; she felt at home in the air, feeling the breeze envelop her face, sending her short black hair flying in every direction. The tree swayed gently as she leaned out a little farther.
The object of her attention was below, on the ground. Sylph watched as Aspen idly made balls of fire appear in his hands. He was obviously waiting for the rest of the Rebels, who were supposed to be holding some important meeting. Which was why Sylph was in the tree, also waiting for the others to arrive.
As she stared down at Aspen, who was facing away from her, a devious idea popped into her head. With a small smile, Sylph began to channel her energy to her hands. She felt the power flowing through her, like a gust of wind, which grew stronger as she summoned more.
Aspen glanced up at the sky, resting his head on his hands, completely unaware of the concealed figure in the treetop behind him.
Sylph placed her hands, palms up, in front of her and suddenly made a quick, upward-jerking motion. Aspen simultaneously flew into the air with a startled yell, buffeted upwards from a strong wind that had seemingly appeared from nowhere.
A short laugh leapt from Sylph's throat as Aspen scrambled to his feet, looking flustered. She stepped off of the branch of the tree and controlled her descent on the wind, landing gracefully on the ground.
"Hullo, sleepyhead," she said with a barely concealed grin. It wasn't often that she could best Aspen, what with him being a fire fairy and therefore more powerful than her. She crossed her arms and observed innocently, "You look a bit...winded. Everything all right?"

Apen raised an eyebrow at Sylph. He stretched, and rubbed the small of his back. "Oh, fine," he said airily, giving Slyph a sideways glance. "Just got carried away for a moment there..."
Sylph laughed. Aspen smiled wryly."You know, there are other ways of getting someone's attention."
Slyph shrugged. Aspen chuckled. "So," he said. "You are here. I am here. We are supposed to be holding a meeting. You didn't happen to see any others up there, did you?"
"No."
Aspen sighed. He felt the non sun shining down on his neck, and the feeling made him want to curl up and fall asleep. Sylph seemed to have seen Aspen glancing back at the ground, and she frowned at him. Aspen shrugged in response. "So," he said, stifling a yawn. "Anything new that you know of? I got the feeling that this meeting was urgent. "Any ideas?"

I wished that my siblings would stop being so traditional and just get a phone! "We won't embrace human technology Laurel," Willow told me, "if you want to be like them, then you go right ahead, but you won't have us joining you."
Leif had laughed hollowly, "You just wait and see whether we'll still be here when you realize you're no better than us."
March had tried to be peace keeper, as always, but there was no fight, just different opinions; the right one, and the ridiculous one.
I wished that they would just cave so I could ring them and tell them that I wouldn't be back for dinner. As it was, they'd just have to miss me and have it go unexplained. It wasn't my fault.
I was glad that we were moving at last. It had felt like we were engaging in nothing but inaction lately. I hoped that they would resist, so that they could be quashed more effectively. That would make for a fine example.

I spun in circles, playing with a butterfly that I just befriended. It landed on my nose and I sneezed. Wait, wasn't I supposed to be doing something? Hmmm, what was it? I kept walking, the butterfly had flown off somewhere. It was nice outside today, the sky was nice, and big, and blue, and- " The meeting!" I smiled and mentally slapped myself. Duh. I ran towards the lake front where it was said we were meeting. Aspen and Sylph were already there. I gave myself a rock boost and was in the air. I landed right behind the rock Aspen was leaning on. " Ello," I smiled and sat down meditation style," so, what are we discussing today?"
"Not much, from the sound of it", I said to Rowan, while standing right below the surface of the lake. They all gave off a little freightened scream. I climbed out of the lake. "Relax guys, it's just me".
"Were you here the whole time?", asked Aspen.
"I was listening to some music in the lake for about 10 minutes or so, waiting for the meeting to start", I told him.
"You could've at least said hi before you came by"
"Eh, you were half asleep. No need to wake you up for nothing", I told him. They seemed to have calmed down from the spook I gave them. I stuffed my ear-buds into my pocket and took a seat on the lake.

Malinda sighed heavily. Ember, the fiery fairy, was knocking impatiently on the door. Ember could have come inside if she so pleased, but Malinda had made an agreement with the fairies to never enter her home without permission, or she would not open the door to the fairy world for them. She could hear Ember shouting impatiently for her to hurry, but took her time.
Malinda opened her door to a very mad Ember. "What took you so long? I almost came in there and set your hair on fire!"
Malinda pushed passed Ember and headed toward the water front. This group was here frequently, so she knew them all well.
"Hey Malinda." The water fairy, Reed, was floating on top of the lake.
"Hey there, Reed." Malinda touched the surface of the water right in front of Reed, watching it ripple away from her finger. Reed nodded his approval.
"Thank you, Malinda."
"Yeah yeah, just do what you have to do." Malinda sat down on the shore of the lake, legs and arms crossed. She always sat right here and watched the fairies travel back and forth, so that she could close the gate when they finished. Today, she thought they would be hanging around for a meeting or something.
