Aerolite

Aerolite is the dominion of the fairy people who live in secret amongst the humans. Their lands are reached by ways that are numerous and secret. In some forests walking backward around a tree three times might open a passage or in the neighbouring valley it might be that you need to swim to the bottom of a lake and knock upon the largest stone.

Until recently the fairies were content to leave the humans alone but now their council has decided differently. New rules have been introduced and the council are encouraging fairies to trick humans to their deaths. They are slowly decreasing the human population.

The plot takes place between three groups. The first is a group of rebel fairies who don't agree with the council's policies and plan to raise support and awareness against them. They will be aiming to tell the humans of what is happening and will quite often be thought crazy. The second group is fairies working for the government who have been ordered to find and capture all rebel agents. The third is humans who have come across the fairy world either by dealings with the rebels or confrontation with other fairies trying to trick them to their deaths.

A common misconception about fairies is that they live long lives. This is actually false. Fairies live on average for twenty years but this can vary greatly as they are born when a human is but their population is much less than that of humans because they die when their human grows out of childhood/ teenage tendancies. A fairy is born intelligent, that is to say they have the maturity of a teenager but the experience and brains of an adult. These two things stay the same throughout their brief lives, the only thing changing being personality. The government hope that by depleting the number of humans they will be able to better control the human population and encourage them to be young for longer.

Note: A fairy can not out-right kill a human. They must trick the human into bringing about their own death. They can however cause injury to the human.

Feel free to create any human characters in addition to these but please remember that fairies are unlikely to attempt to kill a young human unless they are certain they are no longer a child and that their fairy is already dead.

You're welcome to change names if you really want to but don't change the genders, ages or gifts of any character.

Where Appearance is concerned, fairies tend to be slightly smaller than a human of their age and have pointed ears, sharp, angular features and sometimes unusual hair/eye colours. They do not have wings and their weight can vary as much as a human's.

The magic abilities of fairies:

Fire - Fire bolts, forming weapons, explosions, suffocation etc.

Water - Water and ice bolts, freezing people, flooding, water sprouts, putting out fire etc.

Air - Air bolts, healing, restraining with bonds of air, levitation, repelling objects/ Earth attacks etc.

Earth - Earth bolts, control of soil and natural materials (metal, wood), earthquakes, electricity etc.

phsycic - Memory tampering, teleportation, telepathy, can tap into thoughts and emotions etc.

Strengths and Weaknesses: each power is stronger than one other and weaker than one other -

Water stronger than fire
Fire stronger than air
Air stronger than Earth
Earth stronger than Water

Phsycic is weaker than all four main elements and it is rare that a fairy with this gift will be successful in battle but they do have their uses. A water fairy will always over-power a fire fairy and so on. Two fairies will always over-power one fairy except in the situation where the two are weak against the one, eg. two water against one earth. In this case they will be of equal skill.

Apperance: Light pink hair in straw curls and big, wide, glimmering sliver eyes. Small frame, thinner and shorter than the other pixies. She always wears small, Tinker Bell like, multicolored dresses.
Persona: She's very high-spirted and jittery, full of pent up excitment. She's new to the rebels and is eager to do everything. Being the youngest she's naturally curious and asks a lot of question. Often though she can seem to power down and at these times would tend to just lay back.

A note on love: Fairies take mates from the age of four years old but please realise that their relationships do not involve sex. Fairies can not reproduce and due to their short lives they rarely have more than one or two mates.

Name: Ivy
Age: 20
Element: Earth
Side: Government

Appearance: Ivy is the sort of fairy who could blend in with humans. She looks to be about seventeen with big, wide green eyes and long, dark brown hair that falls in curls to her waist. Her skin is cocoa brown. Her hair is usually covering her pointed ears and though her jaw and nose are very angular, her eyes and lips are quite soft. Ivy's figure is mildy plump and she likes to wear boots, jeans and low-neck tops and jumpers. Quite often she'll top an outfit off with a woolly beret or beanie.

Personality: Having become quite the serious girl, Ivy is very efficient at persuading humans to kill themselves and she does it as if it were her duty. Ivy is not the type of fairy who takes pleasure in such things but she's frightened. Twenty years is a reasonable time to live but Ivy doesn't want to die. She doesn't want future generations to have to die so young. It's them or the humans and Ivy would much rather it be them. She understands why stopping the rebels is important and has decided she is doing this for their sake. She does not yet know that the government plan to kill the rebels as an example to other fairies.

Other: Ivy lost her mate a whole six years ago and resists taking another. She does not want to put someone else through the pain she felt. It is what turned her serious and led her to taking a career in the government.

Careers: Few fairies other than government agents work. Food and water are abundant and fairies have no need for the technology of humans. Some are even content to make their own clothes out of nature but if they want human clothes it is a simple case of tricking a human into giving them money or clothes.

Appearance: Long brown hair tied up into a bun on top of her head. She's about 5'4 and wears plain summer dresses. Her eyes are hazel, with a touch if gold.

Personality: Fun spirited, with a more grown-up side to her personality. She loves to be outside her home, swimming or doing various things around the lake. Sometimes, she likes to sit on the shore of the lake and draw beautiful pictures.

Other: She protects the lake, which is an entrance to the fairy world. No one gets into the fairy world without passing her, at least not with this entrance. She met a fairy as a child, but realized that it only wanted to play games with her. The fairy brought her to the lake, and she's been guarding it ever since.

Appearance: Small-framed; about 5' tall; no more than 100 lbs.; looks to be about fourteen years old in human standards; short, shoulder-length black hair; vivid blue eyes; mischievous smile. (I'll post a picture if I can find one close enough).

Personality: She's a tough tomboy, and considers herself able to do anything a male can do. She's very stubborn and strong-willed, which can impede her judgment (if she says she's going to go through with something, she'd rather die than take it back, no matter what the consequences).
She is adventurous and brave, though impulsive and rash as well, which often gets her in trouble with her superiors. She also has a rebellious side, and has joined the rebels not so much for the fact that she wants to protect the humans, but that she wants to go against the government. However, as she comes to know the humans that she's protecting, she grows fond of them and wants to protect them.
She has a strong sense of justice, and will often deal with a problem in a swift, decisive manner. Her soft side is very well hidden from others' view; she sees it a sign of weakness to be caught crying.
She's very sarcastic as well, and has a dry sense of humor.

Other: She's extremely sensitive about her size; she considers her petite frame to be a shameful thing for one like her. Anyone who comments on how small she is will be in for a world of pain.
If there's any romance at all with her, it'll probably be merely an attraction on her part, which she tries to suppress.

Appearance: Aspen has sandy brown hair cropped right below the tip of his ears. He is very pale, and has a sprinkle of freckles splashed across his face. He has hazel eyes. Overall, Aspen is the kind of person who people's eyes just seem to pass over, and Aspen likes it that way. He usually wears tan or beige light, loose-fitting cotton clothes.

Personality: Aspen is soft-spoken and mild-mannered, but he is firm. Aspen is perfectly content to sit in the background and observe, but the moment he feels that things have gotten out of hand, he will step in. Aspen is friendly and good-natured, but every once in a while he shows a slight sarcastic side. It is difficult to anger Aspen, but when he is upset he becomes passive aggressive and vindictive. When Aspen is angry, there is very little he isn't willing to do.

Other: Aspen has a strict sense of morals and principals. He can be very close minded about them, and finds it difficult to step out of his own shoes. He is up for love, if they are the right person.

Appearance: She is very slender, her arms and legs are slim but strong. her hair is a very light blond, and it frames her face, making her look innocent. (Which helps lures humans to her) She is graceful in her movements and her eyes show her intelligence, the bright green with gold seem to hypnotize people.

Personality: She is very straightforward, she tells you how it is, with no cushion. She helps those who need it (if she feels like it) and she will kill any human she can. She has no boundaries when it comes to personal things and she will use it to her advantage.

Name: Laurel

Age:14

Gender: Female

Appearance: Laurel has wine-red hair which reaches to her chin, and small grey eyes. She is almost sickly pale with a smattering of freckles across her nose and cheeks. She is very thin and angular, and moves awkwardly.Her nose is small and her lips are full. Her ears are large and the tops are visible through her hair. She wears a navy tunic with a thin grey belt and grey trousers and ankle boots, and a purple cardigan. She has a silver charm in the shape of a leaf around her neck.

Personality: Laurel craves power and control and is determined to do her best in her post, whatever the cost. She relishes the thought of increased power. Sometimes she scares herself but she is quick to get over it. She has a sharp manner of speaking, and would perhaps be thought of as overly serious if she were not so passionate about her cause.

Other:Laurel is currently being pursued by Moss, and is stringing him along while she pursues Almonde. She is becoming increasingly alienated from her three siblings.

Drumming my fingers on the fax machine, I waited impatiently for it to give me my message. Urgh. Technology! As if it wasn't bad enough that we had to put up with the humans using it, but now the government actually had fax machines I swallowed hard and snatched the finished sheet of paper. Grumbling, I left the wooden shack and walked out into the beautiful sunshine. My five colleagues were sitting together on the grass and looked up when they heard my approach.

"Well?" Eden sprung up as I neared and demanded to know what I had found out. Good old Eden. Always ready for action.

"Most of the reports seem to agree that the rebels have been seen hanging out around the lake entrance," I said. "It might be worth checking out."

"That would make sense!" Laurel declared. "Malinda is getting old. They'd want to warn her." I turned my gaze on the red haired fairy and nodded. She was a clever girl, if somewhat forward with her opinions.

"Does this mean we're finally leaving?" Brandy asked in a hopeful tone. Eden nodded and said that we were and that we should go straight away so we did. There wasn't a need to carry anything other than the power restraining cuffs we'd been issued so there wasn't any delay. We were probably half a day's walk away, too far to get there before they left more than likely but we'd be able to pick up the trail.
