Thus far, January 2010 looks set to hit around 15,000 posts for the entire month. That's a lot, but below our record high of ~22,000. Yet, this month is currently on track to reach an even bigger and better milestone.
If current trends hold, January 2010 will be the first month with over 6,000 reviews in YWS history. The current record holder is January of 2009, which had 5,916 reviews.
Yet, I think merely slipping past an older milestone isn't exactly all that terrific. It's great and I love seeing the increased amount of reviews, but I'm pretty sure that we can do better.
That is, why stop at 6,000 reviews for January 2010? Go review!
Correction
I was very tired when making this post and forgot to do one important thing when running the query to get the above. I forgot to exclude the literary works from the reviews.
That greatly changes the numbers, but also makes January 2010 even more impressive. The record holder is actually March 2008 with 4612 reviews (January 2009 may have had a ton of reviews, but it also had a ton of new works).
Currently, January 2010, even after the correct, is still set to hit over 6,000 reviews at current rates. So in effect, we're already blazing past the record holder...
But don't slack off! I've seen stuff like this drop off a cliff before. If you're reviewing a lot already, keep doing that! And if you're hardly reviewing, just try to do a few reviews a week.
