I walked down the hallway with my books in had and my I-Pod screaming music into my ears. I pushed the doors open and walked into the cafeteria.
I grabbed a coffee and scanned the room for Mel.
There she was sitting at a table with one... no now two guys. I laughed to myself. Lucky her. Beauty itself... I wish I were her...
The feeling of sadness, of being worth nothing crept back up my spine.
No!
Just because what happened in the past, doesn't mean my life is ruined...
I walked on and stopped at Mels table. I didn't want to interfere, but there was simply no one else to sit with... Except the goody-two-shoes people, the computer geeks, the Ches club ppl and the evil-looking-actually-kinda-cool guys.
"Hey yall... Mind if I sit."

Race? Seriously? That's an... uncommon name. To say the least. I decided not to comment; what would I say, anyway? And then he asked a question. "Hum, I don't really like to be in places with lots of people..." I mumbled as an answer. That probably wasn't the best opening line to meeting new people, but well I didn't. Too much to watch, too many things to hear, simply too much.

And then, another guy asked to sit with them. What was wrong with the people in this place? Why were all the guys going to find her? Seriously. Apparently, he had caught my name. He was called John. "Hey. Yeah go ahead." And he took a seat next to Race. "Nice nickname. Appropriate, I guess." So he played the keyboard. "That's awesome. I play the piano," she told them. Something somewhat in common, nice.

Finally, someone I knew now. Sam, my closets friend ever. "Hi Sam!" I greeted, now rather happily. But this guy... John, had made me smile. Like, voluntarily and that was simply weeeird. I had too big of a mess in my head to actually want to smile. Or do anything. "No, do take a seat," I told her. She took the seat next to me, and I saw her eye the two guys. "Hum, that's Race and John." I told her, gesturing to them.

Race-Demon

An angel!Crap! Why did angels have to be so annoying and come talking to someone when he was trying to be sociable and trying not to rip the girl's head and his head apart. But he just couldn't, he had to stand the stupid angel and the new girl that had come to sit with them. Sam was her name, she seemed nice.

"So switch key, interesting nickname" Race said smiling a bit. "It's rather cool though" He wanted to be nice with the little angel, after all, he was not good at being a demon nor wanted to try to be good at that. Was he the only demon that hated his job? Or was he the only one that could make a human kill itself by his mere presence?

He saw the angel give him a crooked smile. The first thing he wanted to do was make it clear that he wasn't there to harm the girls.

Gabrielle-Angel
She hold he breath the hold minute that Abbey lasted talking to the demons. War, she wasn't good at war and that meant looking after the humans. Humans, she took a deep breath as she thought about them and him, especially him.
But Abbey was back before she even knew it and it was then that she realized she was holding Stark's hand.

"They know were winning," I gestured over to the Community Service booth," hence the booth of happy-making over there. We need people to join us. Now." I glanced around the cafe and spotted something that made my blood boil under my skin. A Demon and Angel at the same table.
The shoved my chair out from under me, the sound was so loud the cafe went quiet for a moment. The distance from our table and the table of fools wasn't that great. A few quick strides covered the distance easily. There were two humans, a Demon, and an Angel. I focused my attention on the one that looked more, so to say, persuadable.
"Nice to see you again Race," traitor," and you too Switchblade. And, oh, who is this." I put my hand on the shoulder of the girl whose name I already knew was Sam.
"I'm Sam," she whispered.
"Sam, why don't you go join that table over there," I pointed towards the Demon's table. She shrugged when she got up and walked over. The table-mates swarmed over her," Um, Melissa," I smiled, placing my hand on her shoulder," give us some space, will ya?" She nodded and got up. As soon as she was gone I let the smile drop from my face. All that grinning was making my cheeks hurt.
"What the hell?" I focused my eyes on Race, but just as much as my energy was focused on Switch too," Um, hello? Does "sworn enemies" mean nothing. Get back to your peppy friends, Switch, we sure as hell don't want you here, and Race, we need you at our table."

*~Stark~*

I squirmed a bit as Gab's hand found it's way to mine. Well, maybe from that and the fact that Abbs was practically feeding herself to the sharks. Gab's eyes were closed and I squeezed her hand gently for support, but, by that time, she was already back. I engulfed her in a hug.
"Oh, you scared the pureness outta me!" She laughed and comforted Gabby, who was now biting her nails, with a hug of her own. I glanced over and saw a girl, whose name I believe to be Sam, walking over to the Demon table. Someone poked me in the side.
"Stark," Abbey whined," your evil sis is at it again." I nodded. It was hard being related to Mayce, we don't choose our family. I mean, we couldn't have been any different. Sometimes it was all too much to handle.
"We've got to get more Angels," Gab cried," Why is everyone going Demon?"
"Because of her power, Mel, you know that." The power of persuasion. She was always the lucky one. She got he beauty, the great powers, friends, everything. She never got picked on in school, it even got to a point where she didn't claim me as her brother anymore. I shook my head and looked over to where she was yelling at an Angel and a Demon. I sighed and finished cheering.
"Join the Community Service Club," you're our only hope.

I was happy to get away. Even though they both seemed nice, socializing wasn't my thing. And that girl... ugh, she seemed so sell-able. I glanced back at the table, and saw John flash me a quick smile, but then concentrating back on the talk both of them were having with the girl. Whatever. I made my way quickly to the bathroom, and entered one of the cubicles. Why was it quieter there? I didn't want that to change, it was like a refuge. Silence.

You know you want to do.

"Ah!" I screamed in frustration, while pressing my hands against my ears.

Do it. Do it now!

Unconscionably, as if I had pushed myself back, and was now taking the blade out of my bag. yes, I had brought it with me. I always did. It felt safer and more secure with it there. I pressed the cold blade to my skin, feeling the cold as a pain running through my nerves. I turned it, and cut through the skin. It was a new utility knife, and it was too sharp. I didn't cry in pain, I just flinched, and put the knife down. Blood immediately sprouted. It had too; it'd be no fun at all if it didn't. As if it was not worth it without blood. And then, I saw those lyrics from a music once forgotten fly into my head: 'Yeah, you bleed just to know your alive'. yep, I had grown cold. To the outside door. I pressed paper against it, and the blood was stopping. It nearly had, when someone knocked don the cubicle's door. "Mel?"

Great, now there was Mayce. Tough as always, demanding trust and loyalty to their group. It was hard for him, but he took a deep breath and tried to control himself.
"Mayce, is nice to see you" he said sipping from his coffee cup. Mayce's glare was burning on him, and he felt the angel tense at his side.

"What the hell are you doing?" Mayce asked him through grited teeth. For one demon he didn't care but for all of them...now that was a different story. He knew that he better listen to Mayce before all the other demons came to him.

"Deus can you do us a favor and leave?" Race to to the angel who didn't leave when Mayce told him. War, he knew that Mayce wouldn't have taken such a reaction if they weren't at war.

Deus

Deus who had only been partically interested, but had his eyes locked on the last place the girl from their table had gone, it looked like she had fled to the toilets. He only barely heard what Race said, "Deus . .bla. . bla. . . leave?"

With a nod he exited from the table and with long strides made his way across the cafeteria. Those emotions in the girl's soul - they weren't good. He needed to get there before she did something she regretted. The tainted emotions made Deus cringe. He had tried to see what she was completely feeling before he could react, that's why he hadn't followe her immediately. What was her name?

Her name?

Ignoring stares and whispers, nobody really cared about what Deus did anyway, he strode into the bathroom. Lucky for him there was only one door closed. He walked towards it, her name, what was her name . . .

As he knocked on the door the name suddenly came to him, "Mel?"

I got up from the table and stalked over to the table the girl had pointed out. I didn't know why. I never listen to what people say. But today, for some reason, I did.
I hadn't even got round to telling Mel about the party I was planning for sat night. I had the fliers in my locker, and I was itching to give everyone one...
I stopped at the table.
"Mind if I sit?"
"Sure!" Some guy answered.

*anyone can jump in*
*and can we have a party at sam's house? Good idea?*

I sighed and gave Race my best why-are-you-doing-this-to-me look before pouting and looking down.
"Race, come on, you know me better than most. Ya' know I hate seeing the Angels winning. It just breaks me, so, can you at least pretend that you're trying to help?" My immediate instinct was to reach for his shoulder, but I seldom ever had to do that with one of my own kind.
"Fine," he whispered, grabbing his cup and standing up," I guess I can-" The bell cut off his words and the whole cafe was immersed in silence for about a second before starting up again. Race grabbed his bag and started towards the door," See ya in Physics!" He called back before exciting. I glanced back at the table where the other Demons and out Demon-to-be, Sam, were sitting, waiting for me. I quickly went back and grabbed my bag.
"Okay, lets go," I draped my arm around Sara's shoulder and felt her whole body tense. I swear I wasn't even using my powers when I asked her if I could come to her party.
"How do you know about that party?" She asked, her voice low.
"Oh, hun, I know everything. But are you going to invite that Melissa, or whatever, girl?"
"Well, yeah, she's my best-"
"Oh," I removed my arm," Okay." I summoned the rest of the group and trailed off. Like I always say, 'Keep them wanting more.' She'll be back. I laughed at some joke one of the other Demons said before flipping my hair out of my eye, just to have it fall back in place again. I strode in Health class and sat down in my chair at the back. They always come back.

*~Stark~*

Abbey glanced nervously down at my hand, which was still entwined with Gab's. I quickly jerked it back and blushed.
"So, um, what's the update on the soul-eaters," I whispered, trying to break the uneasy silence that fell upon us.
"They know were up to something," Abbs whispered," They're gonna be on full alert now! So we've gotta-" The bell rang through our ears, seriously injuring my eardrums. I snatched my backpack and started slowly towards the door.
"Gotta get to Health," I yelled at them, while pulling on Gab's hand," Come on Gab were gonna be late on the first day. See you in gym Abbs," I blew a kiss at her before taking off.
We made it there just as sis was taking her usual seat. I could practically hear Gab's eyes rolling. We took seats in the front, as far away from her as possible. Mr.Denis walked in and started babbling on about CPR or something while I rest my head on my desk. I know I should be listening, but Health was just so darn boring.

Gabrielle-Angel

She liked him, but just the fact that he had a demon sister grossed her out. Mayce's stare felt heavy on her, as burning as the place where she belonged to. It was just so uncomfortable.
Gabrielle heard the teacher babbling about something that she didn't really care about, so she pretended to be listening while drawing a picture and a writing a poem. Health class gave her so much to do, apart from the things that boring Health class had.
But the demon's that were there had such a strong presence that it almost gave her a headache. Thay had to do something, and do it quick before the demons could actually think of something.

Race-Demon
Maybe he had to give her a chance, Mayce couldn't be that evil. She was a demon, but wouldn't it affect her having an angel brother? Maybe, maybe not, but he decided to stop thinking about it for it wasn't that important for him. He had to live his life and as she said, at least pretend he was on their side.
His first class was physics, he was good at it, but it was so boring. SO he took his seat in one of the first rows and waited for the class to start when suddenly someone came in.

*can it be me?*

Sam- human

I walked out of the cafeteria. I wondered where Mel had disappeared to. And how that girl knew about my party.
I was all excited about it.
My brother would also invite a few people, and he'd also organize the alc. I had the perfect dj... Gosh i was excited.
My next period was physics. gosh. I HATED it. So i roamed the school looking for Mel... I didn't find her tough... So all I went to class. maybe she was there already.
I threw open the door with a little too much enthusiasm.
Everyone was staring.
"Nice that you decided to join us, miss Simons." the old physics teacher mumbled. gosh. was he gross.
I looked around for seats.
There was one next to bugger-eating-kid and one next to race-guy... well that choice was kinda obvious... No Mel though.
I slumped down on the chair next to race.
"So what I miss...", I mumbled sarcastically.
