Robin~

I peered into the detention room at Melinda, I could hear her sobs as tears ran down her cheeks. I felt my heart tug, looking down at the peice of bread in my hand I frowned. Tossing it towards her I heard her gasp as it dropped in front of her. Twirling back around the door I froze my heart beating. If anyone found out I had fed the prisoner I would definietly get in trouble. Darting away I felt the wind around my begin to grow as my fear leaked into it.
"There you are Robin" Erika shouted from the front door of Coate's Academy. I froze my heart in my throat had she figured out that I had fed the prisoner.
"C'mon we need you" I stared at Erika as she shook her head at me. Nodding I followed after her biting my lip. My stomach grumbled as I thought of the only amount of food I managed to sacfrifice. I began to regret my decision. Shaking my head I saw Erika stop in front of the door.
"Will is acting...different...don't you think?" Erika asked me. I nodded walking down the steps towards the van.
"I think he went a little out on the beating" I muttered staring up into the sky. I badly wanted to float next to the white fluffy clouds.
"A little he practically killed her" We both skipped down the stairs towards Buds. He sat at the bottom listening to his I-Pod.I tapped his shoulder motioning towards his ears. Sighing he pulled them out "What?"
"What are you guy's standing here for! We have a job to do, get into the van" Will ordered walking down the stairs. His bottom jaw set, walking after him I bit into my lip feeling guilty.
Buds slid open the van door, I jumped in past him clumsily stumbling over the carpet. Jumping towards the green chair I fell on to it closing my eyes.
"I think we have a traitor" Will muttered as the door closed
"What why?" Erika asked, I felt my shoudlers tense.
"I found bread crumbs next to Melinda" he said sourly "How did she get the food?"

Will:
"Robin, I can hear your stomach growling from here, didn't get some bread before we left?" I asked. I knew she did it, it was just fun to play.
"I wasn't hungry..." She replied tensing up very noticeably.
"Ah. Because nobody's hungry here in Coates right?" I raised my eyebrow and smiled a bit. She visibly shivered. "Don't worry Robin, you get to fight on the front line today, nobody gets hurt on the front line." I could see her fear and it felt good, the front line was for our most disposable fighters.

"Will... don't you think... I think that's a little harsh." Erika said.
"Oh, yes, you're right, well in that case, you have a choice. You can come with us and fight front line, or stay here to face the kids who will be coming to spring Melinda." I smiled at her brightly. "Make up your mind, we don't have all day."

"Will," it was Tyler, "Can't you just let this one go? She didn't do anything..."
"Tyler, have you checked our food supply? Because THERE ISN'T ONE! We can't waste perfectly good food on some hostage. That's not how it works. Where's your loyalty Tyler? You know we're smarter, stronger and faster and we can beat out all those kids down there. This is the winning side Tyler."

I gasped in surprise when a small piece of bread was thrown next to me. I looked up to the person, who had thrown it and was shocked to see Robin. We had never really knew each other, just was referred to when we spoke of the Coates kids. I grabbed the bread as the door swung shut and shoved it in my mouth. After I was finished, my stomach being the greedy bastard it is grumbled loudly.

"Shut up, stomach! You'll get food soon enough...they wouldn't starve me...would they?" I asked in dread, wondering whether they would. Everyone knew the worst way to die was from starvation. It was very slow and very painful...Amelia, Ginger, Tommy and Sam; all victims of starvation...all under 12 years old. Suddenly the door opened wide.

"Honey Pie, I'll be back soon. Just got to go down and visit my friends at Perildo Beach." Will said in a dainty voice.

"You sick fuck! Kill me, don't hurt the kids please!" I whimpered. Please God, no not the kids, what would he do! Will walked towards me, stepping in the small blood pool.

"Maybe..Maybe I won't hurt ALL of them...just Julie...or what do you call her Jewels. Yeah, just Jewels, but ONLY if I get a kiss" he said with a crazy laugh. Julie, my baby! No. I won't let him hurt Julie. I would attack him but even with my power he is more powerful. It was infuriating. I stood on my tippy-toes as he was at least 3 inches taller than me and placed a disgusting kiss on his revolting lips.

"Oh that was nice...but I was thinking maybe if you beg...on the floor, kiss my feet beg...then little Julie will be spared...from death" he whispered. Beg? He has got t be kidding me.

"Eff you!", I yelled before spitting in his face, my spit consisting mostly of blood. He immidiatly stared me down, forcing pain everywhere. His laugh was full of hate and evil wished. I fell to the floor, but I kept silent His eyes darted to the floor where the bread was. His breath hitched and the pain intensified. Oh My God. There were crumbs.

"WHERE DID YOU GET THE BREAD?!!!?" he roared, kicking me in the neck. This was too mucn, the pain from his power, the blood STILL flowing down my arms and the kick in the neck, stopping all attempts at breathing. For the second time that night I blacked out.

Robin~

Front Line. The words shook in my head, closing my eyes I tried not to whimper. Pouting my lips I took in a deep breathe swallowing down the excess saliva in my mouth. I sat up to stare at Buds. He was shaking his head at me, my eyes lingered towards Will. He was staring at me his eyes looking through my soul.
I grounded my teeth together looking away quickly, tapping my foot on the floor I could feel Erika staring at me from the corner of her eyes. What was she thinking? That I was an idiot for feeding the prisoner, well I definietly felt like it. The front line was a horrible place. It was either be killed or kill others. I hated killing!
Cracking my nuckles I flexed my neck. "Why are you scared Robin, you can fight?" Will scoffed loving the fear that washed off of me.
I didn't say anything, I just stared at the floor. "Don't screw this up Robin. Don't leave anyone alive! If I find out that there are survivors that you could have easily killed your punishment will be..." he didn't say anything. He fell back into his chair smiling.
"Bad" I heard Erika whisper to herself. Clamping my fists tightly I stared out the window my hair beating against my back. Tyler was rocking slightly staring at his feet nervously. I felt tears brim at my eyes as images of people falling at my feet their blood pooling around me appeared in my head. I looked away biting into my lip, a drop of blood fell on to my tongue.
"Are you ready?"

Edward~

"This is the winning side Tyler!"

Edward had heard just about everything. He was crouched behind one of the old rusted cars in the Coates parking lot. His hands trembeld, the old scars around his wrists were stinging.

"Puta," Edward swore under his breathe "this place brings back bad memories... Payton are you almost done yet?" She sighed, wiped the sweat from her brow.

"Like I said Edward just a few more minutes...this kinda stuff just takes time you know?" She looked at him. Her moss green eyes told him she sensed his anxiety. "Don't worry...Melinda's tough she'll be fine."

Edward looked away. "I hope so."

It was evening already. The sunset had begun to set behind Coates Academy's angular roofs. Will would be making his move soon. That wierd Bud kid's invisibility worked best at night.

"Hey!...they're leaving!" Edward kept his head low just enough to where his eyes could peak above the car trunk. Payton slid from beneath the car.

"Okay! I'm done," She said. Edward regarded the slender object, it's frame had been taken from the revolver he carried and the rest Payton had taken from the car. "I got the idea from the story you told me about how Will managed to confine your abilites. Everyone's powers stem from their hands in some way so!...I created this gun. It stuns the enemy and make them loose the use of their limbs," She smiled "handy right?" Edward nodded. It was his turn from here on. He started towards one of the other cars and Payton grabbed his hand.

"That gun can help you stand up against someone like Will but it only has one shot. After which it takes twenty four hours to recharge.Even with the best equipment on the island that's the best I can do." Edward nodded but she didn't let go. "Be Careful okay?" Her elegant features looked angelic in the twilight.

"I promise." Ed smiled and disappeared.

~

Edward opened his eyes. He was in the front seat of a car two car lengths away from the Coates kids and their car.

"Are you ready?" Will was saying to one of the girls, Robin. Edward had known her once before but the frail girl he saw now was nothing like her proud self in the past. Will focused on Tyler.

"You'll watch the prisoner." he tossed Tyler something black-a pistol. Tyler was so surprised he almost dropped it. "When that sun's finished setting...kill her." The car engine rev-ed up. Will stepped into the passenger seat next to an Ambivalent Buds. The car backed out and continued down the road outside the Academy's grounds. Edward's grip tightened around the gun Payton had made for him. Will had said Melinda's death would be at sun down. Edward closed his eyes and thought of the detention cell Will kept all his victims-the one Edward had once been in. He gritted his teeth. He would not fail. Edward made one last attempt to still his nerves and jumped...

I woke again. This was getting old. The last I remembered was Will's fury at the bread, the look on his face was so inhuman looking, I can't believe this...I'm in 9th grade but I'm fighting for my life that was almost taken by another 9th grader. My arms still bled freely and I lay there gasping in pain. The bread had helped but Will had seriously hurt me when he kicked me in the neck. I was still having trouble breathing. At least my power helped, I was able to control a little of the pain by paralyzing a small bit of myself, causing the pain to go away but my movements were slow and exxagerated.

I surveyed myself, trying to get some damage control. I had a large bruise and at least 3 cuts on my face. My neck was not hurt other than the kick. My collarbone was bruised, and I had at least two broken ribs. I had a long cut on my stomach and a forming bruise. My legs were colored in black and blue and blood seeped down from both. My arms were cut and bruised. Where the hell were Payton, Edward and Jim? I guess they were going to leave me here because of what happened with Emma and James. I was seriously injured and in deep shit but I lay on the floor, leaning on the wall, breathing heavily, hoping, no praying for a savoir.

Suddenly, a loud wind sound filled the horrible room and I heard a voice,

"Melinda?!"

Edward~

"Melinda?!" The scene unfolded before him. Edward had never seen someone in such a bad state. He rushed by her side.

"Oh my God! Melinda your arms...your face." He didn't know what else to say. She was hardly recognizable. That bastard Will! This was his doing!

"Ed..." she said her voice as loud as a whisper. This was horrible. Edward was about to say something when he heard the door shut behind him.

"Oh...you-you're here."

Edward snapped around. Tyler was standing at the door way. Edward's hand holding the Payton's stun gun twitched. Tyler must have seen the movement because he pointed his pistol at Edward.

"Tyler..." Edward tried to reason "you don't have to do this. We can help your sister. We can get help!"

"Fuck this! I'm just a kid..." he said. Edward fidgeted. Whoever this was it wasn't the Tyler her remembered. This Tyler had snapped. His pupil's were dilated and the pistol shook in his hands. Tyler continued, "We're all Fucked! We're all gonna die! If Will doesn't do it! Hunger will!" He'd become hysterical tears ran down his face. What happened next was so fast it was instantaneous. Tyler fired his pistol several times. Edward responded. He snapped up Payton's stun gun. The gun fizzed bright electricity in Tyler's direction...

Melinda saw Ed's body go limp. He flailed like a wet noodle and landed a few feet away from her. She also saw Tyler recover and walk towards her. Ed's electric gun had been impressive but missed Tyler by one inch. It left a burn mark on the wall behind him. Tyler stood over Melinda. He pointed the pistol at her head. She eyed him defiantly but powerless.

"Forgive me sis," he pulled the trigger...Click. Tyler looked at the gun in disbelief. He'd been to anxious with Edward and fired more than he needed to. No matter. He reached into his pocket and pulled out an extra clip. He readjusted his aim. This time when he looked at his sister he saw the fear in her eyes...maybe he was wrong. No. She was gonna die anyway...they all were. "Rest in peace sis-"

~

Tyler had been so busy focusing on his sister he never realized Edward's body had disappeared. Rushing wind filled the room and this time when Ed came back he was in a car.

"Take this you bastard!"

Tyler ran and ducked. The car slammed into the back wall tearing into the other room. The roof lost support and ceiling tiles rained down. Dust filled the room. Edward crawled out of the car. Blood ran freely from a cut on his forehead and his arm was just...well Ed didn't even want to look at it. Most of Tyler's shot's had missed fortunately but two lucky bullets hit home. Edward knew from the moment he felt the hot pieces of shrapnel pierce his skin that he was badly hurt. If not for the adrenaline he got from the rush and excitement of tele-porting, he would have blacked out. Edward's rash action of jumping a moving car had been a last resort. He was lucky.

Edward surveyed the scene. Tyler's limp form was collapsed under some ruble. He didn't look dead but Edward couldn't see him getting up anytime soon. He ran over to Melinda.

"Hey Mel, look don't worry I got ya." He removed some falling tile off her meek body. He looked at the wreckage one last time. The car was completely embedded into the wall. Edward whistled he'd never jumped such a big object-let alone a moving one. It was the car he'd hid in before hand when he was spying on the coates kids. He tucked Payton's stun gun (which he decided to rightfully name "the Payton") under his shirt and grabbed Melinda. "Ok hold on, " he said to her one last time, then jumped.

"Melinda! Melinda! Come on, Mel! You can't freaking do this to us!", a voice screamed. I was underwater and the voice was distorted. Another voice.

"Melinda!! Get up! Stop! NO! Breath! BREATH! MELINDA!" the voice shrieked. I was sinking deeper and deeper. It didn't hurt here. If this was death, I would take it gladly. All these voices were annoying, they wouldn't let me die peacefully.

"NO! We're losing her! Her heartbeat is almost non-existent! MELINDA!! Come on PLEASE! PLEASE NO!" another voice begged.

"I'm going to kill Will. I'm going to make it nice and slow if Melinda doesn't make it. Broke her arms, her ribs, he used her as a freaking punching bag! He even cut her! That sicko! MELINDA!" the first voice yelled again. Then a sweet voice, an innocent voice cut through the air.

"Melinda, wake up! You have to teach me how to fight the bad kids. Melinda?" Julie said. I swam up and broke through the surface. Opening my eyes a crack, I suddenly heaved coughing out blood.

"Melinda!! Your okay!" Edward yelled in delight. He bent over to hug me, then decided against it after realizing my state. I noticed his arm was in a sling and he had a bandage on his forehead.

"Melinda! Thank God. Your alive!", the first voice who I recognized as Payton said.

"Your heartbeat is going back to normal. Well as normal as it can get for you", Jim said, attempting to cracking a joke, a slight smile on his face.

"Melly, can you teach me how to fight the bad guys now? Eddie told me they were coming tomorrow to get Jim and you cus Will came and almost killed Issac and told him that the place was bombed-ready and everyone would die if you and Jim didn't come" Julie said, surprisingly in one breath. I sat there in shock, reviewing what she had just told me.

"Julie, let Melinda rest a little first", Payton said kindly before the 6 year old nodded and walked towards Evana and Connor, the other 6 year olds.

Suddenly I was hit by a massive wave of naseau and threw up more blood.

"What did he do to her?" Jim whispered before I ran to the small, claustrophobic-inducing bathroom, locked the door and sat against it. I breathed heavily and stared at my hands going over what had happened to me in the past 24 hours.

Kidnapped, tortured out of my mind, beat up my brother (who tried to kill me), tortured some more, blacked out, woke up, fed, tortured even more, blacked out again, woke up, Ed showed up, Tyler tried to kill me TWICE, Ed attempted to run Tyler over, was teleported home.

Wow. My life sucks.

Buds

Well, today, I've seen someone beaten up worthlessly, I drove with a soon-to-be mass murderer to go make a threat, helped him plant some bombs, and now we're going back. It's been one hell of a fucking day.

I know why we fight. We don't fight to survive, we fight to give ourselves purpose. Without it, we're still hungry and waiting for our inevitable death.

I want to do a lot right now. I want to punch Will in the face, or drive him off a cliff, or just disappear and leave.

Nothing justifies the torture Will's been causing.

I'm only on his team because they're winning, and I just want to live. I don't care who wins or loses, as long as I live. Maybe it's selfish, but what else am I to think? What's wrong with me for not not wanting to die?

All people seem to do here is want to fight. Me, I just want to sit down and listen to my music.

A new song comes on through the ear buds; Cowboys from Hell by Pantera. It's not very good to listen to metal when you feel like killing someone. I started speeding back, but I didn't do anything else. I was pissed, but not crazy. Anybody would be a better leader than Will. None of our sides need to be the bad guy, but the fact that he's made us look like one aggrivates me.

The clock in the car says it's around 8:00am. We just got back to the acadamy. Some of the others seem to be telling Will something. Some status update, he looks angry as usual.

At this point, I couldn't care less. I didn't want to be bothered for anything else for a few hours. I started heading to one of the classrooms. I figured I'd hang around there for a bit, and try and not think about wanting to kill Will for a while. It's just one of my moments. I, as usual, won't do anything about it. They'll just sit in my head and mock me, and I'll try to block them in my music.

I do as I always do, and not affect a thing.

But some days, like today, I want that to change.

Sorry, I was gone all night!

Erika~

I really didn't enjoy being near Will and the other coates kids. Buds I didn't mind so much, but if there wasn't a need for food I would have left already. We were all in the van on our way to the power plant. Nothing would be able to stop us when we got there. They simply didn't have the power.

Robin was feeling scared after Will put him on the front lines, but Buds had blank emotions. Soon we were at the power plant and Will ordered us into our positions. The 4 of us spread out and entered from within different spots.

The death count that day had been about 18 for the townies. We had lost 5 people in the confusion, but we had managed to capture the power plant. Will began the tedious process of placing bombs throughout every building. He said that next time the townies occupied it we would just blow it up.

What a foolish Idea I thought nobody will have power than, but Will's emotions were off the chart and I let him have his way. My plan was to take the detonator from him sometime soon, so that he couldn't doom both sides to starvation and death.

Robin handled the fight quite well, but she never did like slaughtering them. Our battle strategy had been quite simple. I would make them depressed and insecure while the others simply picked them off.

Soon we were on our way back to the academy. Upon our arrival we all sensed something was wrong and I could feel two extra streams of emotion than there should have been.

"We have a problem I said. Someone must be trying to rescue Malinda."

"Shit!" Will said and he began sprinting to the main entrance. I yelled "Its to late they are gone." but he didn't listen and just kept running. I figured soon he would just get all pissed again so I followed Buds and we both headed off to our rooms.

Payton:
During the day, everything was fine, but during the night was when things got bad. The power plant had been occupied and we were left in the dark. Normally we'd be up unto the wee hours of the morning but without light we were lost. Kids started having these dreams. A beast would chase them into the night and they would sink into the ground. Dark lead to idleness, idleness lead to thinking and thinking lead to fear.

It was so odd the first time three kids ran up to Melinda and I. Each one had the same dream. They even saw each other in it. They told us that a black shadow with teeth like daggers chased them to the outskirts of the beach, right to where the dome cut us off from the rest of the world. They'd be trapped. The ground would start sinking until it was a hole and the beast jumped in with them. They woke up. It was so weird we had to think it wasn't a coincidence... but then what was it?

"Ed, look what we found..." I walked up with Melinda, in our hands were a huge bundle of seeds. Vegetables, herbs, fruits. "We're going to use the zen garden behind the dojo as a garden. We have perfect weather so growing these shouldn't be a problem."

"This is what we needed all along. We might not run out of food." Melinda added, she looked happy for the first time since she was taken hostage.

"Have you thought about using the fields with the cabbage and beets? It's perfect." Ed replied.

"Yes but... we'd have access to this... and we can guard it." I said, quieting down on that last part.

~Melinda *I really had fun writing this! Kay, Melinda's uber pissed because Will killed Julie. Just to say. Kay...yeah.

It had been two days since the massacre. 18 dead, John, Adam, Issac, Collin, Amy, Evana...the list goes on and on. But there was one I will avenge....Julie. Will killed her slowly...kicked her, punched her before putting a bullet in her head. He killed a 6 year old. No more games...it was time to kill. Jim broke an arm, Payton sprained her ankle
and everyone got a billion cuts. Excpet for me. I was unconscious during the whole thing. IT's my fault that Julie's dead. Will will (no pun intended) die. I swear.

Buds

This was humiliating. I'm fine with most jobs, but power plant guard duty? What use does this serve? I have the power to turn invisible and not give a crap, not defend. All I do is stay invisible and, if someone comes I shoot them, but nobody wants to come here.

Anyone could tell that those beach kids didn't want to fight-they want to win, but they don't want to fight. We won already, and now we're stuck gloating by letting them suffer, which is more proof of the retarted rampage of Will. He could kill them all instantly, but he's just making them suffer for the fun of it.

And what if the beach kids do attack? Even all together, they'd probably fail. All of them would die, and so would half of us. Will's bound to survive and win, no matter what. If they attack us, though, Will still has a chance of dying.

After all of this, what use was there following any team? Chances are, the beach kids don't want to die in vain. They want vengance for everyone who's died, and if they die for it, they'll die happy, but Will won't let them. He just wants them in his little box of suffering. Will's pushed many of buttons, but not enough of them.

Nobody is happy. This can only end if they attack, and to get them to attack, one of them needs to die, and I mean really die. Not just assasinated and hid in a corner, but massacred and nailed up to a wall, where everyone can see. A murder that makes the beach angry enough to run at us head on.

Nobody knew I was around, I was invisible. I stayed that way and got up, grabbing a machete they left me with. The only way to end this war was to keep it going. Eventually, it would end, but not if it's in Will's locked state.

I started heading outside and got on my bike. Nobody knew I left, nobody was going to check on me. I tapped the MP3 player and checked the list. I put on a song that would remind me how serious I was; Mercy by Joe Perry. I rode off, with my plan in mind. If they won't try to end it, I will. It should be about an hour until I arrive at one of the settlements.

Edward~

"Yea you're right..." Ed didn't want to argue with Payton anyway and besides after what had happened two days ago at the power plant...

"Listen guys..." Payton and Melinda looked up. Edward spoke slowly as his thoughts were forming. "We need to give Jim all the support we can in these next three days." Payton nodded but Melinda looked away.

"You've got nothing to worry about," she said and walked away.

"Hey!" Ed started to follow her but Payton prevented him. "We should...give her sometime."
Edward didn't say anything even though he understood what Payton meant. But he was worried about Melinda also. He knew what she was thinking: If she'd been there in her best condition the outcome might have been different.

"Anyway," Payton said "you should report to Jim. Tell him about our garden idea." Edward perked up.

"Si!" It wasn't just the idea that they could make food that got him in high spirits but also the anticipation of teleporting. The high rush and excitement of a jump always had Ed excited. Ever since the battle at the power plant Ed hadn't been given many chances to exercise his powers. "Alright I'll be back in-" And with a rush of cool air he was gone.

Payton sighed, "Geez, he could at least finish his sentence."

~

When Ed materialized he was in the main building of the stuffy Mayor's office. Jim was sitting behind the desk he'd dozed off. His appearance didn't disturb the room this time and Ed whistled admiring his work. He was getting better at controlling the impact of his jumps.

"Hola!" Ed slammed his hands on the desk and Jim jumped to attention.

"Oh, it's you."

"You don't look so good Elmo."

Jim adjusted the ring his ring finger. Edward noted. Since when did he where a ring? Jim sat quietly. For a while he didn't move at all. Edward fidgeted.

"umm Jim-"

"Ed," he interrupted "do you think I'm doing the right thing?"

Ed was prepared for this. "What are you kidding me?! Of course you are! Jim we need you!"

Jim adjusted his ring some even more. "Lately, I'm not so sure."

"Jim-"

"Ed! you heard him we have three days!"

Ed didn't say anything. He was right, Will Murphy threatened to blow up the power plant in three days if they didn't hand Jim over. If it was a sadist like Will,he'd probably do it.

"Jim," Ed's voice dropped down as soft as a whisper but his eyes were dead serious "If you give yourself to Will. We'll all regret it..." Ed let his statement hang in the air. Jim sat quietly on the outside he looked calm and collected but Ed new that inside gears were turning.

"Ok Ed," Jim said "then I hope your faith in me is enough for everyone else in these next three days."

"Insert life changing statement"

Never forget how special this site is: the older I get, the more I realize how many lonely writers there are who have only family and maybe some friends to read their works. The fact we get free critique, nightly writing pads, free contests and unlimited interaction at *no cost* with people genuinely wanting to help, can not be overstated or overrated
