Tip: Chatroom. Having friends on this site is crucial. You will receive more reviews and love! <3 Check out the chat room, located on the home or index page. Everyone is real nice, and ten-to-one I will be there, so give me a warm hello! ~Classy
Welcome to YWS, Dreamwriter! I'm WD and I'm thrilled to meet you! I'm so glad you found your way to YWS! As for tips, like Sureal said, reviewing is great fun around here. Also, don't be shy to PM people! PMing people who offer or people who catch your interest is a great way to get to know people so don't be afraid to introduce yourself! Is there any particular genre you like to write? If you have any questions or just want to talk and make a friend, feel free to PM me!
The best way to find your way through the site is to ask questions of anyone, and click buttons. Explore the site and meet new people! That's the best tip, besides reviewing like Sureal suggested. It's how I managed to stay on here
Don't be afraid to go into chat, leave helpful advice on someones work or post on someones guestbook. Talk, write and have fun!
Good Luck!

Hey! Some tips on YWS? Um... review, review, review! It helps get you noticed and lets others get to now how you react to other writers stories. Also the fact that you take the time to review and help others is nice. Plus you have to review before you can post a story. Good Luck! If you have any more questions feel free to PM me!-Ballerina

Lets see, a tip that hasn't already been mentioned would be to check out the Groups. There are about a million so your bound to find some that you like. Go ahead and join any of them. It's a great way to make some fast friends.
What's your favorite genre to read/write? What kind of music do you listen to? If you could travel to any country in the world and spend any amount of time there, where would you go and how long would you stay? If you were a shoe, what kind would you be and why? What's your favorite kind of ice cream?
I hope you have a great time here and if you have any questions or need anything, feel free to PM me!

Give out good reviews. If you like a piece, don't just tell the author that you liked it... tell him that you liked it, why you liked it, what it reminds you of, and what you would possibly do to improve it, if it can be improved. If you don't like a piece, say it (nicely!) why you don't like it and how it can be improved. Giving reasoning is always the best way!
Proofread your work before you post. A lot of times, if our members see anything with glaring grammatical or spelling errors, they'll spend their whole critique talking about those errors and not talk about your story at all. It sucks! So, in order for them to focus on your content, get rid of as much errors as you can before posting.
Also, if you make any mistake (hey, it happens!), you can bug the people with the green names... like me! We're moderators so we can move topics or whatever. It's awesome!
AND! WELCOME TO YWS!!!
