Hey guys, I'm AddicitontoFiction. I've done a few reviews, but I'm still trying to figure out how to post my own stuff. It seems pretty much the same, so I guess I won't die!

Anyway, I'm really new here, and I want to be a writer, but I'm not sure where to start. I've been writing fiction/fantasy for about a year and a half, maybe two, and I'm always looking for a good book. You can call me Addict (or any other variation of my username). I'm almost 14, I'm a Christmas baby, and I'm pro at pretending to be smart. I've overflowed my room with papers, even after I got my first laptop, but now I type more. I work at a barn, excel in English, want to learn Japanese, and am stuck with French. I am in no way sports-anything, not playing or watching, but I like swimming and horseback-riding (if that counts). Sometimes my friends say I come across as violent or demanding, but I still have tons of friends. Plus, I'm a passionate Twilight hater.

I guess that's enough about me for now. Hope I can blend in with the crowd for now and stand out later on! :smt003
Peace out, bye, whatever people say nowadays!
I gave up telling people I hear voices. So now I talk to the voices instead.

Hello there! Glad to see you on YWS! I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Hiya Addiction! I must say, your username is awesome! Oh, I'm Selene by the way. ^_^

So, fellow writer addict, let's talk rules! :D

1. Please review three pieces of work before posting your own. This is the 3:1 ratio and that also means you must review at three pieces of work before posting your own. Seeing as you have a solid review count now, that's great! Keep up the good work!

2. Please don't use CAPs or chat-speak here. we r aaaaallllll wrtrs heereee so we shd wrt lyk it. DO YOU UNDERSTAND??? GOOD!!! NOW I CAN GO BACK TO WRITING NORMALLY. lol and writing abbreviations like POV and MC are fine.

3. Please rate your work appropriately. If there are explicit scenes in your writing we don't want innocent eyes stumbling on it, now do we? The ratings are E meaning everyone can view it, 12+, 15+, and 18+.

Here are some questions to get to know you better:

~What inspires you most to write?

~Poetry or prose?

~Love or action in a story?

~Computer or hand-writing?

If you have a question, want to chat, or want a friend, feel free to PM me.

Hiya Addict! Remember me, JD? We talked in chat for a bit!
Well welcome to YWS!
Let me tell you a bit more about these colors and what their usergroup is for :)
The blues are greeters, the people who usually greet newbies like you. Tell them the rules, and other basic information, making them feel welcomed. The purps jobs are to review, review, and review! Usually they are very good at critiques, and try to help members become better writers, and improve! Junior mods and Global mods are like their names. Usually in charge of a specific part of YWS. These guys are who you can count on for any basic questions. Admins are 'The Boss' in charge. Help run the site and know every nook and secret of it. Distinguished members are usually mods that left the site, or don't come on as much anymore.

Now that that is cleared up it's chatting time! :D
So you like fantasy, eh? You'll fit right in! We have many other fantasy writers on YWS, I'm sure they'd love to talk to you.
Christmas Baby? Wow! I'm..a February Baby? xD Haha, not as amazing. So you must get like double the presents? Christmas and your birthday! Awesome! :)
So you work in a barn? That's very cool! Do you live in like the country or somewhere around there?
Haha, I on the other hand, am really into sports. I'm sure swimming and horseback riding certainly do count as sports!
Twilight hater, eh? We have a lot of them here. I don't think it's horrible. I'm pretty natural. Have you seen the movie New Moon? It's pretty good! Better than Twilight, I think.

Well see ya around!
PM for any questions or if you just wanna chat!
-JD

Thanks for the link Elinor, I think I've figured it out now! :)

In answer to your questions, Selene, let me think... my inspiration comes from wacky dreams, and songs, movies and books that I like, or something incredibly incredible that I just can't resist writing about. Definitely not poetry, and I'm not entirely sure what prose is, but since it's not rhyming words, I think I'll stick with that :P. I'm more into action in my stories, because personally, I find love is WAY over-rated :) Also, I'm huge with the computer and typing, but I still use pen and paper a lot. Oh yeah, and my username? I needed something, and I picked that 'cause I liked it. It seems like a lot of people like it though, so I guess I win! :D

I could never forget chatting with you, JD! And I know some people who were born on Valentines Day, so February is nothing to sneeze at. And yeah, I work in a barn, but I don't like in the country (but man I wish I did!), I actually live in a city. And by natural, do you mean neutral? I haven't seen New Moon, but I may, if I'm super bored and can find nothing better to do. Personally, I think Twilight, both the movie and (at least the first seven chapters of) the book stink. I also think Stephanie Meyer should have learned to write before getting published  ! Yeah, I never finished it :P

Anyway, thanks for making me feel so welcome guys! :D :elephant:

Wow, your inspiration is almost exactly where I usually get my ideas from minus the movies. Weird, huh? :D

Oh, and prose would be like the many short stories you see here. That's just an example, but you get the idea. Also, poetry doesn't really have to rhyme. You can thank Walt Whitman for that, the father of freeverse. You should try it sometime. I did, and now I love it as much as story writing! :D In April, my birthday month, it's National Poetry writing month! Maybe you could have a shot at it then.

Hey! I didn't know you were a newbie! *pounce* :D
Thanks again for the tips/reviews :)

Anyway...
Whoo! It's almost your birthday! Is there snow where you live? I live in Iowa. We just got a huge snow storm! It's awesome. I'm a senior so I don't have to make up the snow days :elephant:
I'm in French too. I liked it for the first couple of years but now I'm in AP and completely sick of it. I want to take Portuguese or Italian. Something cool and fun.
I'm completely non athletic too. :) I do marching band. (Trombones = Superior Section)

Ready for some hard questions? (This is my favorite part :))
If you could meet one author and ask them anything you wanted for an hour, who would you meet? If you could hang out with any band/singer for a day, who would you choose? If you were a shoe, what kind would you be and why? What's your favorite kind of ice cream? If you were a marine biologist, what animal would you study and why?

I hope you have a great time here and if you have any questions or need anything, feel free to PM me! :D

Haha, yeah, I live in a place with hot summers and icky winters, where any snow we get turns to ice. But we haven't gotten any yet, and I'm not sure whether to be thankful or angry :P
Also, I just started French last year, and it wasn't so bad, but I have been bored beyond belief with it this year. So much so that I'm probably gonna fail :(

You're questions are by far the hardest -- all except the ice cream :P I'd have to say either cookies-n-cream, or chocolate chip cookie dough. As you can tell, I love cookies :D

Any author, huh? I have really hard time picking favorites... so I'm not sure. Maybe Jane Austen, or J.K Rowlings, or J.R.R. Tolkien, or even C.S Lewis (he's my best friend's favorite author I think). I'll tell you when I know :P

If I could meet any band/singer I'd pick... (currently) Fireflight. As of right now, they're my favorite band.

Shoe? Probably like a cowboy-boot, because I love horses, cows and getting down and dirty. :P

And If i was a marine biologist, I think I'd either study whales, dolphins, sharks or penguins (do they even count? They're sorta like half-and-half, aren't they?)

Haha, I'm your favorite newbie? Cool. :P

Hey again Addict! I heard you want to take Japanese. I take Chinese, and personally its easy for me. It looks like a bunch of scribbles at first, but then you understand it. My sister takes french and doesn't like it either she says it bores her. I didn't know you were a newbie! I'm a newbie too! So I hope to read your stuff in the future and keep writing!

Haha, glad I'm memorable ;)
Yes, but I'm not even born on Valentine's day. My birthday isn't really that special, but I still like it. So you don't like the country? Wow! I would have never expected that. I think it's a wonderful place. A good way to get away from that stress and hustle bustle of the city. Good catch there! Yes, I mean neutral. I agree. Her writing isn't very impressive. Most of her vocabulary to describe 'Edwardkins" is shiny or cold.
Oh..chills. xD

Haha, nice one JD. "Edwardkins"... *dies laughing* Ooh, don't forget sparkly! :P (I personally doubt Edward's a vampire. He sparkles, and he doesn't kill things, so he CAN'T be a vampire! Ooh, I know! He's a fairy!!) Anyway, no, I love the country! It's the dismal city-life that I don't really like. Now, if the city had interesting things going on... well, that'd be a different story ;) So no, I'd prefer the country over the city any day! When I said I don't like in the country, I meant to write live. I tend to do that a lot

Oh, Selene, I forgot to mention this earlier, it never actually crossed my mind, but when you said you wanted to take Italian, I remembered something. It was a cartoon I was watching, that was originally done in Italian. And as it turns out, Italian is basically like Spanish and French combined! So you've got a bit of a head-start :P And April is National Poetry Month? I didn't know such a thing existed! But hey, there are a ton of things I don't know

And while I'm new to this site, pandacary, I'm not at all new to writing. :) I've been searching for a good place to get feedback on my stories, as well as find new stories and ideas that I can't find on the bookshelf of my library ;) Hopefully I'll be able to post some of my stuff on here later. I'm working on a story, but the plot just went did a 180, and it's completely different. So I'm re-writing it, and maybe this time I'll like it :P And yes, French is beyond boring!

Thanks haha xD
And of course! We mustn't forget sparkly. Shiny. Yatta-yatta. I think a fairy does suit him better, haha.
Well, the city does have quite the drama, you just have to look around ;)
Haha, and that is okay. I understand what you mean now.
:)
So have you been living in the country all your life then?

Ha, yeah, I love poking fun at everything Twilight 8)

But there's no drama, at least, not the city I'm in. Although, I guess I'm kinda glad about it; drama really isn't my thing. Plus, I'm never aloud to do anything or go anywhere alone, because my mom's paranoid. So yeah, nothing really interesting. :(

And no, I've never actually lived in the country. I wsih I did, but I've always lived in small-town cities.

Yes, Twilight does tend to be quite the topic of humor.
I know what you mean, drama can be a juicy change, but in the end it's something I'd prefer to steer away from.
Well, that stinks. You should try talking to her, baby steps.
So you've never actually lived in the proper country? Ah, now I see.
Haha, so any books you've read recently?
I need suggestions :)

Oh gosh... paper. I just spent all day cleaning out the paper in my room, and it's still not gone! It's terrible. It's especially pathetic because if I want to write a phone number down, I usually grab the closest thing to me (which is typically a shoddy draft of a poem) and write down the number. It's really sad!

Do you have any advice with living with paper, are you experiencing the same problem as I am? :P

Also, horseback riding totally as far as physical activity goes, lol. I've just started riding this last year, but it's really intense and more than a couple of times (usually after a trotting lesson), I've had to hobble home. I never realized I had some of those muscles! ;)

For your fantasy story, do you have horses and horseback riding? :)

Never forget how special this site is: the older I get, the more I realize how many lonely writers there are who have only family and maybe some friends to read their works. The fact we get free critique, nightly writing pads, free contests and unlimited interaction at *no cost* with people genuinely wanting to help, can not be overstated or overrated
