Ali

I mutter some profanities when Robert made it especially difficult to get him off the truck.

"You want to stay in here and freeze or get in the house?" I yelled at him, my face turning red.

He sighed and got off the truck, I took hold of his bindings and steadied him. We walked into the house slowly, and when I pulled him into the house quietly. Taking him to the smallest bedroom with no windows, I sighed.

"Tell me Robert, what we you planning on doing with these kids?" I asked quietly.

I sat Robert down on a simple bunk, with only a blanket and a shelf on the wall. Robert shook his head and wouldn't answer so I sighed and pulled on my gloves.

"You see Robert, I hate to do any of this, you personally have done nothing to me. But the right thing doesn't always have a great path to follow. Now try to behave yourself and you'll be treated a little bit more decently then you treated these kids for years." I whispered, looking at my gloves.

Robert looked at me curiously before I hooked him in the jaw. The smack echoed in the empty room and Robert fell back. I smiled grimly as I untied his hands and feet, and pulled him up farther onto the bunk. I lock the strong wooden door with the key around my neck. It was the master key, there were no other thankfully. I slid downstairs, feet like lead. I sat down by the main door and leaning against the wall I rested my tired head. I looked at the others on the couch, packed like sardines.

I could close my eyes though, worry haunting my sleep.

Really what in the world am I to do? I don't know anything about taking care of anyone. Let alone teach these kids anything. I'm barely older then the lot of 'em.

With a sigh I shut my eyes and fell into a restless sleep.

Robert, scientist

Robert kept his eyes averted as Ali took him inside. He didn't want to look at the subjects from the laboratory; it was obvious what he'd see there. Anger, derision, hatred...

It wasn't long before he found himself in a small sparsely-furnished room without windows. Ali set him down on the bunk and watched him closely.

"Tell me Robert, what we you planning on doing with these kids?"

Kids. The word set off a pang in his chest. He'd thought of them like that too when he'd first arrived. But unlike Ali he'd determined to change the program from within. He wanted to rise up in the ranks until he was powerful enough and take care of everything then; it soon became clear that getting to that level took being able to overlook little things like living conditions in the sake of progress. He had to dehumanize them in his own mind just to deaden the guilt, and now... now Robert still wasn't high enough up to change things on the scale he wanted (or so he told himself), and he'd approved of so many horrible projects...

He refused to tell Ali about their real goals: to completely control the genes causing these mutations, to control the powered children themselves so they could be used as weapons, and to reproduce the powers in others. He'd made his choice, and the subjects weren't going to forgive him. He might as well side with the people who might actually take him back.

The other scientist sighed and began to pull on her gloves. "You see Robert, I hate to do any of this, you personally have done nothing to me. But the right thing doesn't always have a great path to follow. Now try to behave yourself and you'll be treated a little bit more decently then you treated these kids for years."

Robert blinked and gave her a puzzled look. They're not going to kill me?

That was the last thought that went through his mind before everything went black.

Lyanna - Telekineses

When I woke up light was streaming through the curtains. I turned my head. Java was sleeping next to me, an arm draped over my shoulders. I was perfectly happy with staying there, but I wanted to see what the real world was like. So I got off of the couch, picking my way through the other sleeping kids. I slipped out of the room and outside.

I stood on the little wooden extension of the house, staring. The 'truck' was parked on a strip of black... stuff that seemed to be built into the ground. The ground itself was covered in something green that stuck up out of it. I raised my brown eyes to the sky.

It was azure, with a few white fluffy clouds that seemed to just be hanging in midair. Then there was a round thing in the sky. When I looked at it my eyes burned. I blinked rapidly, trying to get rid of the spots that had burst in front of my eyes when I had looked at it.

What is that thing?
Just another quack spouting psychobabble.

Ali

Blinking my eyes open, I yawned slightly. It was sunrise, the typical time I would get up at. I looked out the window, the sun slowly rising in the sky. I smiled when I saw the figure of a girl looking up at it. I headed out of the door quietly and padded down the drive to stand beside her.

"That's the sun." I whispered in her ear.

She looked at me and grinned.

"What does it do?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.

"Just keeps everything alive and warm." I laughed, pointing to the plants. "Like those, they need to sun or you'd never get those lovely flowers."

"And the flowers are the colourful things?" she said, dropping down to her knees beside a blossom.

"Yes, that's a flower." I nodded, picking it out of the dirt. "Here, have it. If you want to keep it forever, tell me. I'll press it in a book for you." I smiled.

She looked up at me with two pretty brown eyes before looking down to the flower cupped in her hands.

"You can stay out here to look around, I'll be on the porch, just don't stray too far..."

"Lyanna." she finished, still looking at the flower.

Christina

After sleeping for what seemed like ages, Christina returned to the real world. Others were still sleeping, but some had dissapeared. She stood and walked into the next room. It was bright, and clean. There were different machines in it as well.

Christina usually feared any sort of machine, but they didn't look like they would hurt her.

There was a door on the other side of the room. She went through it and found herself outside the house. Christina wondered at the world around her. It was real, and it was beautiful.

For the first time in ages Christina spread her wings to their full length. They had always looked small from underuse, but spanned the length of her arms. She took a deep breath and sprung into the sky.

She flew up above the house and flipped. It felt fantastic! She noticed Lyanna crouching in the front yard and flew over the house to her. She landed on the ground and bent down next to her.

"What's that?" Christina asked, pointing to the colorful things on the ground.

"Flower," she said.

Christina reached out hesitantly to touch it. "Flower," she repeated. She suddenly wanted to know everything about the world she had been deprived of, and she wanted to remember it forever.

Footsteps sounded on the front porch and Christina looked to see Seth standing in the doorway.

"Seth! Look! Flower!" she shouted, pointing to the flower.

Seth nodded and remained on the porch, content to just watch silently. Christina returned to looking at the flower with Lyanna. Finally, things were turning up.

Timothy- Strength, speed, flexibility

Timothy woke up to a bright golden light shining through the window, illuminating the room happily. He stretched and stood up, marveling at it. He went to the window and looked up at its source. His eyes were blinded, and he looked away. He blinked rapidly and in a panic, until several seconds later his vision came back to him. He sighed in relief and walked from the window and out of the room. In the main hallway, he noticed that the door that they had first come through last night was open, and someone (Seth, was it?) was standing on the porch outside. Beyond him, Lyanna was crouched on the ground, eying a curious little object that was coming from out of the ground. Timothy sidled past Seth and walked over to her.

"Hey," he said kindly to her. "What's that?"

"Flower," she said in a tone that suggested that she's answered the question before. She hadn't even looked up at him when he approached, so he figured she wanted to be left alone. Looking around at the myriad of amazements that surrounded him, he wasn't sure he wanted to spend his day looking at a flower, either.

"Well, bye!" he said as he sprinted off in one direction. He ran along the house's side, fluffy white things floating in the air above him. Green things sprouted from the ground, in the fashion of a flower. Timothy wondered if they qualified for the title, of if they were something else entirely. Beyond him, purple, shadowy lumps pierced the sky, ending higher than he could have ever imagined. I better get used to that, he thought with a grin as he slowed down, yet another curiosity sprawled out in front of him. This one was different, he knew. He walked up to it and rapped its side with a knuckle, and it felt very similar to the material that Ali's house was made of. But what was it? The thing was brown-colored and tall, with pieces of it spreading out in a wide fan, its ends covered in green things that swayed in the breeze.

A sudden idea came to him. He grabbed onto the nearest off-part and swung his body up easily. From there, he jumped from place to place, performing flips and twists in midair before he landed back on the ground again. He clapped his hands and jumped in delight.

"Woohoo!" he shouted. "This is fun!"

He jumped back on and did it all over again. He had to ask Ali what this thing was! He had to!

*blah, sorry if this isn't so good, but it had to happen.*

**Lulz, Timmy. What exactly was it that he was playing with? XDDD **

Java - Flight and Invisibility

Java woke up slowly, taking care not to disturb Ever and Kitty who were still on the couch that they had evidently all slept on. He walked through a door that led to the outside; he could see Lyanna and Christina sitting together on the green ground. Seth was watching them from near the house.

Squeezing his eyes shut, Java focused his thoughts and felt himself slip into invisibility. Java opened them slowly and looked down a the space where his hand should be. Nothing. Chuckling quietly to himself, Java moved silently past Seth over to where Lyanna and Christina were sitting looking at something bright on the green ground. He slipped over to where they were sitting and put his head next to Lyanna's ear.
"Hello there!" He breathed into her ear and laughed as she jumped and screamed slightly. He flickered into view with a sigh of relief and wound his arms round her quickly.
"Isn't this amazing!" He said loudly and excitedly, feeling a warm glow spreading over him, "Isn't this just amazing!"

Java whooped and started running over the ground, passing the "car" that they'd travelled in the night before. Focusing on the happiness that he was feeling, Java lifted himself off the ground and began to fly, higher and higher. He knew that it could be dangerous to be seen, so he stayed as close to the house as he could; wheeling and diving through the air without a care in the world. He'd never been able to do this before, and the feeling was one of such elation he couldn't express it in any words. He just shouted out loud in happiness.

**Haha! This is so confusing. I mean, describing things is hard. Gosh, it'll be so awesome and hard if they go to school! We should totally do that. xD **

((If it makes you feel any better Mr. Knightley, I got that it was a tree. xD ))

Robert, scientist

The first thing Robert noticed upon waking up in the little dark room was that his wrists and ankles were no longer tied together. The second was that he had a splitting headache.

The scientist sat up with a groan before walking over to the door and flicking the light switch. There wasn't much to see. The room was about the size of a small bathroom, with just enough room for the bed and some space to move around in. As he'd noticed the day before, there were no windows. He tried the handle of the door. Locked; no surprise there.

He sat despondently on the edge of his little bunk and held his head in his hands. How long was he going to be kept here? Days? Weeks? Months? Would he be able to last that long in this dingy prison before he started losing his mind?

No, they'd have to let him out every now and then to use the restroom and get him meals, right? Think positive, he told himself. Despairing now isn't going to-

But another thought struck him. What about the subjects? They'd almost certainly want revenge on him. His face paled as he thought of all the unpleasant things they could do to him with their powers. Could he depend on Ali to prevent them from getting it?

He didn't have an answer for that.

Seth

Standing on the porch was enough for Seth. Everything was so different, so new. He didn't like it one bit. Of course, he had hated being tested and experiemented on but not knowing was worse.

He tuned into the thoughts of others around him. Lyanna and Christina were in awe of the "flower" and Timmy was running around in extreme joy. Java was even enjoying himself above the house. The others still inside were dreaming, also happily.

The only two people not completely overjoyed were Seth and Ali, and probably Robert though he didn't care to step into that man's mind. Seth tuned more into Ali's thoughts. It wasn't that she was upset, or sad, but concerned. She was full of worry about having all of them around, taking care of them, teaching them.

"It seems you should have thought things out more clearly," Seth said softly.

Ali had heard him though. "Excuse me?" she asked, shocked he had event he faintest idea what she had been thinking.

"I read minds, it's my "special ability" or whatever you would like to call it," Seth explained. "Anyways, it sounds like you're worried about us. Well you didn't have to break us out in the first place."

"Did you like being there?" Ali asked.

Seth paused, and shook his head. "No, but I wouldn't have taken on more than I could handle."

*He's not trying to be mean, he's just extraordinarily careful and well thought out.*

Ali

My face twisted in surprise at the boy in front of me.

"Well nothing is keeping you here. I was thinking being transformed against your will then used as a weapon would be something you didn't want." I answered, smartly.

The boy took back in astonishment, I grinned.

"You see, I have almost everything planned. But how am I going to teach you kids to be who you want to be since all your lives you were taught to listen to what other say and comply to any request." I sighed. "But as I said, you can go back. Remember you are welcome here anytime."

I turned to look at the boy I remembered as Timmy. He was looking up a giant pine tree in sheer delight. I chuckled and called out to him,

"It's called a tree. That one is a pine tree, probably 80 years old."

He turned to look at me,

"80? How could something be so old?" he exclaimed.

"That one over there is about 250 years old." I said, pointing to a huge, beautiful oak.

The boy who had talked to me before looked at me in surprise.

"250 years?"

I nodded and motioned for him to sit beside me.

Seth

He was frozen in shock, and could only watch as Ali walked away. He hadn't expected such a thought out response. He should have though, in his mind breakout had only ever been a dream he tried to forget. He had to remember Ali was on the outside, not locked inside a cage.

Seth thought over her suggestion. He could just leave. He looked at Christina who was laughing with Lyanna and gazing at flowers. He couldn't leave her behind, and she was happy here.

Sighing, Seth sat on a wooden chair that hung from the porch cieling. When he sat on it, it moved backwards and he fell to the ground. "Oof!" he grunted as he hit the floor.

Christina looked back and started laughing hysterically. "Seth! Are you okay?" she asked between laughs.

Seth glared and crossed his arms where he sat on the wooden porch. Today just wasn't his day.

Kitty

I sighed, feeling warmth on my cheek. I opened my eyes, to find myself cuddled into the corner of a bed with sides, yellow light coming through the windows. The door was open, and through it I could see several people. I stepped out the door, gasping. so many colors! There was the bright blue of the sky, and the ground was green and that...that big thing over there was brown and green, and those puffy things in the sky were white, and the little treasure Lyanna was holding was a bright, rich red, and the- "Kitty!" I looked towards the source of the sound, smiling when I saw it was Timmy. He was standing beneath the brown thing, waving at me and smiling. I ran over to him. "Hey!" I said, tackling him in a hug. "What is it?" I asked, pointing to the green top of the structure in front of me. "It's a tree," Timmy said, eyes wide. "And it's 80 years old!" "Liar!" I laughed, tentatively putting a hand to the surface of the tree. It was rough, and somewhat sticky. "Woa," I breathed, stroking some green things sprouting from it. I yelped in surprise when I was pricked with a needle on my finger tip. I looked around, panicked. I thought we wouldn't have anymore tests, no more needles, no more knives, no more gases... "Kitty, Kitty what is it?" Timmy asked, taking me by the shoulders. I looked up at him, down to the dot of red on my finger, and at the tree. "It hurt me!" I said, still shocked, holding my finger up for him to see. He looked to Ali, who was sitting on the porch. "Ali!" He called, walking towards her. He took my uninjured hand to lead me. "Ali-" He said again when we got closer. "Ali it hurt me!" I interrupted, holding out my finger. "It pricked me with a needle and I thought there wasn't going to be anymore needles or shots or tests or-" She laughed, taking my hand gently. "What?" I asked, somewhat offended by her amusement.
