Mikael

The last of them men fell and we stopped to savour our breif moment of victory. I looked over at the others. We had been through a lot let lately and i was sure their was more on the way. Suddenly Quin streaked away through the sky.
"Where'd Quin go?" i asked.
"To get Sonnet" replied Ashlyn calmly.
"Well what are we waiting for?" asked Evan. "We've got my car don't we."
"Actually i think i'll take the bike. No offense but i've seen your parking." The others laughed and piled into Evans car before speeding away. I began trudging across to my bike when i heard the crunch of gravel behind me.
One of the men was stood, both hands on his gun, listeninto instruction through an ear peice.
"My pleasure." Was all he said before opening upon me. It felt like red hot had been driven into my chest and i fell spinning. With what i little energy i had i stemmed the bleeding, before passing out. The last thing i thought of before it all went black was Ashlyn's smiling face.
I have looked into the eye of the storm and stared it down. I am an adrenaline junky and i know no fear.

ASHLYN

She looked frantically behind her for Mikael. Where was he? Did he know a short cut? Sighing, she felt behind her with her mind, searching for that warm, familiar presense. She felt again...nothing. Mikael wasn't there.

"Stop the car," she ordered. Evan turned back shocked.

"Why?" He asked. Ashlyn glared at him.

"Mikael's not following us now stop the damn car!" She screamed.

Sonnet

It seemed the men realised just how vicious an angry wild cat could be. After seeing the first one fall, blinded by her claws, they quickly tried to get out of the way. She chased them, springing into the air and knocking them over, slashing their faces, biting anything she could reach.

When five had been reduced to two they stared at the cat, her jaws agape and chest heaving as she breathed, every breath painful. Her normally soft eyes flashed with anger and vengance. But suddenly the realisation that they were gone, all gone, hit her like a tongue of bricks. Suddenly the strength she had just seconds ago evaporated and she felt no more threatening as a kitten, as her attackers rushed in at her again.

Evan

"This is getting ridiculous," Evan said. He stopped the car and turned around, grabbing Ashlyns arm so she couldn't run away. "Wait," he told her.

"What? Let me go! Mikael is in trouble! I can feel it!" she yelled.

Evan sighed and shook his head. "We need a better plan. The last three times we've gone rushing into something without a plan things haven't turned out so well. And we can't just forget about Quin and Sonnet."

Ashlyn didn't seem to care much. All she was concerned with was Mikael.

"Evan has a point," April added.

"See?" Evan was feeling quite reasonable. He must be in tune with water right now. "So what's it gonna be? Rush in and lose this time? Or get a plan and get away from these creeps?"

Ashlyn swallowed. "Sonnet will be fine. Quin will do anything, ANYTHING, to get her out alive," she sighed. "Mikael's the real one who's in trouble. You don't understand."

She tried to jerk her arm from Evan's grip, but he didn't release her. "Look, Ashlyn, you can't just barge in their."

"Watch me," she growled. "They want to kill Mikael more than anyone else. You didn't hear what they were asking of me."

She sighed and finally jerked away from Evan. She spun to run away, but he caught her again.

"Let go!" She yelled. "I'm going!"

"Please," April called. "Just let's make a plan first. Then we'll go."

"There's no time. I'm really sorry about this but," she forced herself into both of their minds. Evan released her and stepped back. She controlled both to make sure that they wouldn't chase her.

Ashlyn ran, making sure to hold onto their minds with her own. Once she was nearly back at the building where they had Mikael, she released them.

Ashlyn crouched by one of the bushes. She was going to get Mikael out.

Mikael

I lay gasping, clutching at the multitude of half healed holes in my chest. My breathing came in ragged painful streaks. I rolled and to my sat and spat blood out of my mouth.
"You should be dead!" Shouted the man angrily. "You should all be dead. Why don't you freaks just die?!" I laughed, causing another streak of pain to shoot through my chest.
"Wait. Your that kid! That energy kid!" I could see a strange recognition appear in his eyes. He grabbed hold of his walkie talkie.
"I've got him. That kid, the energy kid. He's pretty messed up but he's still breathing."
I heard a rough staticy reply. "I'm on my way"

"I've got him. That kid, the energy kid. He's pretty messed up but he's still breathing," Ashlyn heard someone say, excitedly.

Ashlyn ground her teeth. "No!" She yelled. She controlled the mind of the guard and he stood completely still.

Ashlyn ran to Mikael, who most certainly was having trouble breathing. "Let's get you out of here," she whispered, softly touching his cheek. She had hardly seen him like that before.

"Where's everyone?" He asked.

"That's not our concern right now," she shook her head. "You're hurt and you need to get out of here. Can you walk? I can try to help support you, but I'm not that strong."

Mikael

"Can you walk?" Asked Ashlyn, worry clearly evident on her face. "I can try to help support you, but i'm not that strong."
I smiled weakly and felt blood trickle down my chin.
"I'll ... be fine." I coughed before lurching unsteadily to my feet. "See. I'm fine." I smiled before collapsing toward Ashlyns expectant arms.
"Mikael come on. Enough of this tough guy stuff. You clearly hurt. I'm taking you to the hospital."
"No. Not the hospital. Not again." I spoke firmly despite the weakness of my body. "Take me home. The ring. The skull."
"Alright. But only because i, well."
"It's alright. Please just get me home."

ASHLYN

Ashlyn helped Mikael away and towards his motorcycle. It was a good thing he taught her how to ride a long time ago. She was one of the only ones allowed to ride in it.

"I'll drive," he nodded. Ashlyn shook her head.

"You can help me, but you will not be driving. Understood?" She asked firmly. "Now, I'm getting you home and I'm going to find Evan and April to go help find Sonnet."

Evan

"That girl is going to drive me crazy," Evan muttered. He didn't worry about Ashlyn too much longer though, she would have to deal with it herself. Evan started the car and sped towards where he had seen Quin flying.

"Where are we going in such a hurry?" April asked, clearly frightened by the unrelenting speed of the car.

"I have to help Sonnet," he said.

April was silent for a minute. Evan wondered why; maybe she was trying to remember who Sonnet was, or maybe she was wondering why Evan needed to find her so badly.

"I don't know why," Evan said, hoping to answer her question. "But I have to. There is something connecting us. I don't know what, but it's there."

April didn't say anything and they were silent until they reached an abandoned warehouse. Evan cut the engine and could hear what sounded like fighting inside. A scream shot through the air and Evan's entire logical thinking process snapped.

"Sonnet." Before April could even comprehend what was happening, Evan was sprinting towards the warehouse already shifting into his earth form which he only hoped would be powerful enough to help.

Mikael

I clung on to Ashlyn as we blasted through the fading light of the evening toward the apartment. It had certainly been one hell of a day. From quietly picking up the grocerys, being blown up at the fair, saving Ashlyn, getting shot. I tell you now folks it really takes it out of a guy.
Finally we drew up infront of the apartment. Ashlyn gracefully climbed off the bike while i crumpled into an untidy pile on the pavement.
"Come on Mikael. Get up. We need to get you inside." Ashlyn smiled and help me unsteadily to my feet. Toghether we wove ungracefully up the stairs to the apartment.
"Thank you Ashlyn. For everything." I coughed weakly. She smiled at me before leaning me up against a wall.
"Stay here. I'll go unlock the door and make sure we don't have any unwelcome visitors." Afew moments later Ashlyn returned to find me walking unsteadily toward the door.
"I thought i told you to stay there."
"And when have i ever done as i was told?" I smirked before stealing a cheeky kiss.

Sonnet

A fierce cat scream sounded through the air as one of the men grabbed her by the scruff, holding the serval from arms length to avoid being slashed by her claws, which where unsheathed and curled downwards in a sharp curve.

Around her the injured men where sitting up, clutching their now useless eyes and panting with pain. The man holding her grunted with the effort to hold Sonnet up, for now she was swiping at his arms but only half heartedly.

Suddenly, a boom sounded through the air. She was suddenly dropped to the floor and hit the ground with a slap.

Then, a mighty fissure shot through the ground, the warehouse quivering as its floors tore open.

Quin

Quin's wings grew heavier and heavier as he flew. He smelt her scent in the wind but it was old now and difficult to follow. He flew confused, onwards, his head spinning. Eagles weren't used to flying this far inland, there where no sea breezes to guide you in the right direction and too many confusing smells.
Suddenly a large crashing sound shook through the air, he could feel the vibrations shake through his wings as a large puft of smoke rose into the sky. Through the thick smell of ash and rubble he breathed in her lilac scent.
With a loud screech he dived down towards an abandoned barn, crossed between elation that the flight was over and fear at what he would find.

Evan

Sonnet hit the ground hard, but the guards were thrown away from her by the shock of the fissure. April set to work on the guards while Evan sprinted towards Sonnet who had shifted back to her human form.

"Sonnet!" he pulled her off the ground and stood. Bad idea. A guard had jumped the fissure and knocked Evan over the head. Evan dropped Sonnet and fell to the ground.

"She's not good for us anymore, take the elemental!" a fuzzy voice yelled through the air.

Evan grabbed for Sonnets hand from where he lay, but the world was spinning. He finally nudged it when he was dragged away. April was shouting at the guards, probably being dragged away too.

Evan blinked awkwardly a few times before losing conciousness altogether.

"Wake up, freak," a voice commanded, and a sharp kick in the ribs jolted Evan awake. He wasn't in the barn anymore, but somewhere different. Sonnet was gone, April was gone, Evan was stuck in a room with three or four strange men.

"It's time to talk," the one who seemed to be their leader said.
